The Obsessed (Doom/Heavy) Sleep (Stoner/Doom) Om (Stoner Rock/Metal) Corrosion of Conformity (Mid-period) (Southern/Sludge) I'm going to be the antagonist here and say that I disagree. I think there are more mellow bands out there than that. I'm not sure if those were the best examples of "mellow". But then again, it IS me were talking about here.

Wasn't saying they were the most mellow, just enough to give him an idea of what it meant. I'm sure there's plenty of bands more mellow, but those bands most likely wouldn't even be metal. Or do we have different ideas of what mellow is?

Yeah, I think we have a different view of what mellow is. I'm thinking of it as being laidback/relaxed/care-free/etc. Something you'd listen to on a nice sunny day to just kickback and relax.

Well I was connecting this too the idea I think we was getting at in the Praise them thread. I think he wanted soft metal, not nesseccarily kick-back music.

I feel like a bad stoner fan, I have *yet* to check out Om, even though I am in love with Sleep. D: For Mellow though: Jesu. They have a lot of stuff going for them, though I have a hard time placing them in a genre, I here some Post-rock, Drone Industrial, some Shoegaze, all sorts of stuff. http://www.myspace.com/officialjesu

He was just wanting to know what mellow meant. He wanted mellow bands. Relating to the song he was reffering to by Darkssed. I go the impression that a few of the bands you listed are not exactly what was in mind.

Wouldn't Amon Amarth be in Viking metal, though I understand why they may be called death but I always believed them to be viking by their choice of lyrical content.

Alright, just wanted a straight to my question. Thanks. Though I still feel they are more like viking metal but I'm not going to argue against others.

It's cool. It's just viking metal is musically quite a bit different from death metal.
