*Hikari was glad to see Shinta behaving more like the man she knew...and not the one she had only heard of.*

Good day Shinta, are you feeling alright? Something really seemed to be bothering you just now. I saw you storm out of the kitchen. Is there anything I can help with?

Oh, and I dont think you've met, but this is my friend Adhara. She's from my clan too.

*Hikari finished her light meal of a sandwich and some fruit, and then turned her eyes to the chocolate cake she had made the night before to relieve her boredom. She removed the binding spell on it; it would have been a shame for it to fall or to have something fall onto it.*

Anyone else want a piece of cake?

*Hikari noticed that Aideki looked particularly miserable and took her a big piece, offering the plate to her and smiling*

Hey Aideki, you look like you need this

*Hikari cuts a biiiig piece for herself and sits down with a glass of milk*

Aideki eyed the cake with disinterest and though she would have dug into it rapturously at any other time, her thoughts and spirits were else where and sweets were not the least bit tempting. She said a low 'no thank you' and got up from her seat, grabbing the apple she hadn't eaten yet. Turning, she headed out the back door and stepping outside. The night was cool, clear, crisp, and what Aideki needed.

The swordsman bowed his head slightly to Adhara and Hikari. "Forgive this lowly one for being so rude earlier, there was...this one had much to think about, that is all."

Smiling at Adhara he added, "It is a pleasure to meet you Adhara-dono."

((Umm...how does Hikari know who Shinta was? He didn't tell her and Hikari wasn't there when the police officer came. eek ))

((Who said she didn't ever overhear conversations? It has been mentioned several times how she likes to go running, especially in the forests, and so she often sees a lot of people even if she isn't interacting with them...or seen by them even. Besides, like real life, you never know where someone is or what they're doing if you're not with them at the time, so this makes the story more realistic. I think it makes it more fun.

And it's boring to make post after post that just involves my character 'running around'. It would just be like a one-liner about what I was doing at the time...

And that was something she was thinking anyway, so Shinta shouldn't know that Hikari had overheard anything. It might be interesting to spice up a storyline later on what Hikari might know about people >=P

But if you dont think I should know about it, then I'll just 'forget' =P))

*Hikari set down her fork and walked over to where Aideki left the plate. She wrapped it in plastic and put it in the fridge. 'Maybe she'll want it later' Hikari thought. She tried to hold back a sigh, but was unsuccesfull. She hated to see people distraught and not be able to help. However, she couldn't keep the whole world on her shoulders the whole time she told herself. She turned back to her piece of cake and resumed eating, trying to keep herself happy.*

Well, if I can help in any way Shinta, let me know. Want something to eat?

((Sounds cool. I like the idea of poor Shinta not knowing that you know. wink ))

Shinta smiled, "Thank you Hikari-dono, for your kindness."

His stomach growled softly and he chuckled. "Er...Hikari-dono? Perhaps you could help this one by passing some of that leftover chicken?"

((yeah, who knows when Hikari might let slip that she knows =P As I remember, Shinta and Hikari talked extensively before Travis's quest and Shinta at least told her he used to be a warrior but had given up killing, but he didn't tell her the extremity of his former profession))

*Giggling at the extreme politeness even asking for a simple plate of chicken, Hikari hands it over and also sets the bread near if in case he wants a sandwich*

So, what have you been up to since Travis's quest? I see that you made it back safely. I know you were worried about me going on such a quest, but I made it back without having to fight much at all actually. How far did you get? You seemed to regret that you would have to fight, I hope you were not bothered too much.

((That sounds about right. smile ))

Shinta smiled as she passed him the chicken and bread and began to make himself a sandwich.

At Hikari's words he hung his head a little. "This one very much wanted to help Travis-san and the others. However Cole felt's this one's vow would be too much of a burden against demons and so asked me to remain behind to protect the pagoda."

Looking up at Hikari he added, "This one is glad to see you home again and safe."

Dyanel appeared in the kitchen looking a bit glum. She looked around as if she had lost something. She took a breath and opened a cupboard pulling down a bag of donuts. She took them ripped open the package and sat down. She got up again, went to the fridge and got out the milk. She waved her hand making a cup appear and poured herself a glass. She walked back to the fridge, putting the milk away and sat down on a counter stool with a sigh. She dunked a donut in milk and popped it into her mouth. The next moment the yellow fuzzball Cheebs floated next to her taking a donut.

"Why are you sad?" he asked with a mouthful of donut.

Dyanel looked at him and gave a small smile. She didn't answer and just patted him on the head. Dyanel took another donut and popped in her mouth again chewing quietly for once. Cheebs sighed and helped himself to another donut.

Shinta smiled at Dyanel and Cheebs. "Is there something this one could help you with Dyanel-dono?"

Picking up a piece of leftover chicken, he offered it to Cheebs, then took a bite of his own sandwich.

Cheebs grinned brightly taking the chicken.

"Thank you Shinta-Dono," he said taking a bite.

Dyanel looked up at Shinta and smiled softly. "No, I'm fine Shinta, just memories," she answered dunking another donut in her milk.

Shinta nodded once slowly in understanding. "Have you spoken to Cole about it? Talking to a friend sometimes helps, at least...in this one's experience it does."

Smiling at Cheebs, he passed the winged creature another piece of chicken.

Dyanel looked down at Cheebs and patted his head as he picked up the other piece of chicken and took a bite. She looked around as if in a daze.

"Sometimes, I don't like getting others involved Shinta," she answered warmly.

The donuts and milk were gone. She put her cup in the sink and looked at Cheebs then at Shinta.

"You'll take care of him for a me for a while?" she asked with a small smile.

Adhara had been eating her sandwich, staring at not much of anything. She blinked a few times when she realized that others had joined them in the kitchen.

"Wow, I must have zoned out more than I thought...," she murmured to herself.

"Sorry, I guess I was just thinking," she smiled slightly at everyone. Though she didn't know what the conversation was about, she felt she should at least say hello.

((wow, I went home with my boyfriend to do cosplay work and I didn't get near a computer for a couple days. oops. ^^;; sorry hikari!))

Shinta nodded back at Dyanel. Hopefully she would talk to someone after she got her thoughts in order. Shinta gestured for Cheebs to come closer and chuckled when the little keros ((A small winged lion)) flew over and perched in the area between his head and shoulder and snuggled into the folds of his gi.

He looked over at Adhara, who seemed to be staring into space. As he stared, she seemed to snap back into reality and apologized.

"Is there something bothering you Adhara-dono?" He asked concernedly.
