She watched as Mackie used the broom to hobble away, "I'm surprised he earned anyone's loyalty, he has less compassion than I do. I suppose you were mixing his image with my mother's, she had a powerful way of doing that."

(Monkeys paw? his is hand normal aside from the pale cold dead flesh but other than that it looks normal and his hands are gloved too)

((Quite. The Monkey's Paw, for those who don't know, is part of an old legend. The shrunken paw of a monkey will grant one wish for every finger, but all the granted wishes are twisted, giving you what you ask for without giving you what you want, eventually ruining your life. In a recent story about the Monkey's Paw, in Clamp's xxxHolic, the woman whose life is ruined asks for her last wish that all the problems be taken away from her.
The Paw comes to life and strangles her to death.))

"Because all the things you offer come with a price, Genesis," Ora's face was cold, she still wore a smile, but it didn't seem to really belong. She ignored Mackie's comment, doubting he would like to hear that her father's assistance was also always connected with a price.
