They couldn't have harmed her if they tried, which they did. The bullets whizzed right off Budgie's thick feathers. She bit and clawed into the men, leaving quite a massacre in her wake. The only thing slowing her down was the wing that had been shot. The wound had also grown with Budgie, and was leaving large puddles of blood all over, but Budgie could have been missing several vital organs and a few limbs and not have stopped in the state she was in. Once she had killed all the men, she sprang up into the air, instinctively knowing how to fly, looking for her next target to decimate. She flew towards the city, ready to rip it to shreds. Just as it seemed Finchford was going to fall, a large hapoon like missile shredded into Budgie. She shrieked in pain and crashed to the ground with a thud that sounded like two dump trucks colliding. Who had fired the shot that brought down such a powerful foe.
"Secure her!" cried a voice from the shadows of the forest. Soldiers rushed up to tie Budgie down, but she quickly stood up, fighting them off, though not as succesfully as earlier.

Zach looked around as men begain to pour from the forest. He could have easily picked off at least one from the edges of the ranks, and one was all he needed. Still, he went over the facts in his mind for safe measure.

1. Men capture Budgie. BAD
2. Budgie fends off the men and destroys the town. BAD
3. Large antiseptic-smelling building part of the town, and will be destroyed as well. GOOD.

Zach wasn't the least bit supprised to find the odds stacked against them, even if there WAS a plues side to everything. And there always was the threat of Budgie taking her rampage out of the town. Slowly, and idea begain to form in his head.

In a second, Zach was tearing through the undergrowth, forcefully shutting down all signals of pain to his brain. He found the edge of the ranks of men and quickly picked off not one but two men. He didn't know if they'd be alive, but he didn't care at this point. Zach picked up a gun as he changed back to his human form. He'd be awfully sore in a few hours, but all that mattered was now. He pulled off one of the men's rifles. Of course, Zach had used guns before, since the buildings used to be deserted and they made hunting faster. And since he liked to live in the forest, where often you only get one chance before you die, he was a near perfect shot too.

Zach was slightly dissapointed he didnt have a shotgun, but the light rifle would have to do. Maybe he could find an Uzi later........ Or, better yet, and M60.

Zach quickly found a perfect hiding spot in the trees, where his dark clothing would blend and no light would reflect off the gun's barrel. It only took him a second until he let the shots fire. He took out the group nearest to himself to protect his cover, then begain to pick off the ones closest to Budgie. His heigtened senses allowed him to locate the targets quickly, even without sight, so soon they started dropping like flies. Zach just hoped he had enough ammo, and something to deal with Budgie later...... Assuming his muscles even held together that long.

Budgie charged at Zach, so engraged that someone was firing shots, even if they weren't directed at her. Budgie tore through the trees, clearing a path. She flared her wings in front Zach, a very intimidating sight. Thankfully for Zach, the harpoon shot at her side was still jammed in her side. It was tugged on, dragging Budgie through the forest back to the soldiers. Not even in her uber beastie form could she take this blow. She fell to the ground and began shrinking back to her child-self. A soldier picked her up and began running off with her, most likely back to the lab while the others provided cover fire to whatever was out there picking off the others.

Seeing Budgie running straight at him broke Zachs concentration, and as his concentration broke, his exaustion caught up with him. His vision begain to swim in front of his eyes, and a searing pain shot through his overworked muscles. The last thing he saw before he passed out and fell out of the tree was the men carrying a small, feeble looking budgie back with them. After that, everything went black, and Zach went tumbling out of the treen head first, but luckily didn't get a cuncusion because he landed on the soft grass from only a few feet. However, the gun fell with him, and as it hit the ground it fired a shot straight through the tree, pointing exactly where Zach was at.

((You can have your NPC's do whatever you want to Zach as long as they dont kill him or break anything XD))

((Okay.))
The soldiers piced up Zach, carrying him away as well.
~*~
The next time Budgie woke up, she was back in the terribly familiar lab cell. She wheezed in pain, body patched up rather hastily. She felt tears come down her face. Now she'd never see her new big brother or her friends again.

Zach stirred slowly as he begain to come to. Immediantly he was assulted by a single smell so hard, it took everything he had to not throw up. Zach's ripped muscles had somehow been repaired enough so that Zach only felt a slight stiffness.

Zach slowly sat up, not opening his eyes for both of the fears that he really would throw up, and he was afraid of what he might see. He leaned back against a wall and almost immediantly jolted back upright. The wall was icy cold, like metal. Zach still managed to keep his eyes closed, mostly for fear of his composure.

Budgie, still laying down, noticed Zach. She rolled over and faced him, feeling her heart sink. She didn't want to see anyone she cared for stuck in this terrible place with her.
"Zach, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault," Budgie sobbed, body wrenched with pain, but it couldn't compare to her heart ache.

Zac's eyes shot open as he realized where they were. He looked over at budgie. "It's alright... Kaine's still outside, and it's my fault for pushing myself too far......" He noticed she was in somewhat of a better condition as well. "At least they did something useful and patched us up..... Although the job's far from perfect.... My arms feel lick bricks of lead......." Zach quickly scanned the area for any means of escape, trying to make the movement as discreet as possible.

"Oh okay," Budgie said, but froze up when the scientists came walking down the hall. Without a word they dragged her out and off to another room. It wasn't the dreaded back room where they put down the unwanted experiments, but it was obvious from Budgie's screams that whatever they were doing was unpleasent. They returned a few minutes later and threw Budgie in the cage. She lay on the floor, very still and pale looking. Feathers molted out from her wings. She moaned, "Zachy, I don't feel so good. I wanna leave. They won't leave me alone."
Budgie's frail body wasn't able to put up with so much stress.

Zach tried to jump onto the scientists before they left, but his muscles couldn't hold themselves together long enough, so he instead tripped and fell flat on his face. Normally it would have been very funny, but for some odd reason nothing's really that funny when you feel like you've just fallen into the darkest pit of hell.

Slowly Zach got back up. Apparently, he would be able to walk and run, but anything much more than that, and he falls flat on his face. That complicated things. "I'll figureout a way to get out of here, I promise...." In truth, Zach didn't know any possible way for them to get out in their current state. Unless they somehow got something like a grenade.... and what are the odds of that?

Or Budgie turned back into her beastie form, but even if she managed that in her state it would probably cost her her life. In fact, she couldn't move as it was. She just curled up on the floor, sobbing a very broken hearted sound. She wasn't feeling good at all. She'd lost so much blood, she felt sick, like she would throw up.
"I feel bad," she repeated. What a bad day.

Zach closed his eyes and slowly rubbed his fingers across the top of his eyes to the middle of his nose bridge. Budgie was a mess physically, and appeared to be close to having a mental breakdown as well. Zach would probally be taken next, or close to it, since he didn't know how many other "experiments" were in the room with him, and who knows what kind of hell the two of them would be put through if they stayed where they were. Out of frustration, Zach beat the side of the cage with a trembling fist, nearly knocking it onto it's side. "Damn it! It just isn't right! What the hell did we do to gett stuck in a freaking hell-hole surrounded by the spawns of satan himself?! WHAT?!?!" Zachs breathes begain to come in sharper bursts as he fought to keep himself under control.

"I"m sorry," Budgie whimpered, hearing Zach screaming. It was all her fault one of her best friends was locked up here with her. She should do something.
"I-I can try to get us out," Budgie whispered, trying her best to crawl to the bars to lift herself up. She'd help her friends, even if it meant the loss of her life. It was easy to see now that Budgie was one sad looking person. Her face was pale and covered in cold sweat from such an effort of getting up. She shivered in an almost feverish fashion as feathers continued to fall out.

Zach smiled, but it wasnt his usually happy smile. This one seemed lace with sadnees and depression, more like a half smile people give when things look as bleak as they did for Budgie and Zach now. "Don't worry about it..... If anything happened to you, I'd never hear the end from it from Kain..... Or even myself...... Sorry, but you just need to rest for now...."

Slowly Zach stood back up, and immediantly eyed the cage, his eyes narrowing as they took in their target, which was the small chunk of metal where the latch was held. Zach broke out into a full sprint, his palm making sharp contact with the metal. Normally Zach's speed would have at least knowcked the door far enough to be pushed aside, but because of his weak muscles didn't do more then knock the cage foward. Zach continued to palm the lock, hoping the latch's integrity would give before his palm did. He looked back over to Budgie, nevr pausing. "Were going.... To get out of...... here!"

((Just one quick post since I left so suddenly last night.))
Budgie looked up, shaking. She collapsed onto the floor, "Don't hurt yourself."
She said this very weakly. She was barely able to keep her eyes open. She was so tired. It couldn't hurt to sleep for a little bit.
"I wanna go," Budgie mumbled weakly before falling into a deep sleep.
