Iden sighed, and shook his head slowly.

Respect's shown in different ways, mate. But topic at hand...

Iden pushed off the wall with his shoulders, and stepped forward to clap a hand across Thrar's back.

He knows the movies, but he had the sense to test some of them out. Nobody's given him a detailed rundown yet. And I said I suspected Lasombra because of how he described it. Shadowplay, sadism....and the kid's first victims were his vacationing family. Fun stuff.

Iden didn't sound like he found the notion too very fun. But he shrugged it off, then quirked a glance at Thrar.

Heh.

*Raoul leaned forward, nodding at both*

Welcome to the dark side of death, Thrar. The good guys dont always go to heaven an dthe bad guys dont get stopped in the nick of time. You're dead, a blood sucker, and your first meal was yrou family. Their blood is in your veins, keeping you alive and it wont be enough. The hunger will follow you every night and the more you get used to feeding it, the stronger you will become. You exist now in a world where killing will become normal, feeding enjoyable and pain a fact of life. So what are you going to do about it?
You know nothing, you have nothing, you ARE nothing. Unlike Iden's clan, who balk and roar at such injustices, your blood - your vampiric blood - comes from a clan colder than most, uncaring. Whether you choose to live or die, you are never going to be the same again. The sooner you accept that, the better.

*Sipping his wine again, Raoul's gaze pierced Thrar's*

You cant eat solid food anymore, without blood - LIVING blood - you will fall into eternal slumber. The sun will set you alight and kill you, you will have no reflection if you ARE indeed Lasombra and the shadows will try to choke you if you dont learn to control them. You;re a nobody. The one who made you didnt care. HE was sadistic. HE just wanted you to kill your family for his own amusement. If that angers you... if you WANT to learn... to get revenge... we can help you. If not... we'll turn you back onto the street and you can do as you wish until the sect that made you press gang's you into one of their packs, addicted to their blood until you do whatever they say and in time... that'll bring you against my best team, the Clan to which Iden here belong sand then... you WILL die. The choice is yours.

Thrar stood listening impassively. When Raoul was done he smirked. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his battered notebook and began thumbing through some of the more recent pages. From what the others could see it was tattered and ripped, most pages were a combination of frantic scrawling and norse runes; one section even had blood sploches adorning the spread pages. He suddenly snapped the book shut and brought his gaze directly in line with Raoul's. He stood straight and tall and as he spoke all fear and aprehension were gone from his voice. He spoke rather than in the tone of a frightened and confused young man; in the tone of a sage or prophet.

"I know nothing, I have nothing, I am nothing. But I wish to be. If the stories are true I have been given the freedom to roam the night for eternity, who am I, one who is nothing, to spurn this. I wish to learn more about what I am, so that I no longer know nothing. I wish to start anew with the existance I am given so I will no longer have nothing. I wish to master my new gifts so I am no longer nothing. What's done is done and nothing can or will ever change that. Pity and hesitation are for the weak, but knowledge and glory are the rewards for the stout. I wish to help you and in so doing help myself."

"On a side note, revenge is no goal of mine. I believe it will be given the priority of a hobby, necessary but not to the exclusion of other things. For once revenge is complete there is void and the only thing I know that brightens a void is sunlight burning_eyes . Instead I will devote my energy to learning what I am and what I am capable of. Such a goal is worth my time to pursue."

*Raoul flashed his eyes to Iden, then back to Thrar*

..impressive. I hope your words hold true, boy. Iden here is one of my leuitenants. He is responsible for patrols dealing with the kind that made you. If you truly wish to learn and to work for me, I will give you a trinket like that Iden carries, I will train you and tell you all you need know about our kind. And then, thanks to your clan, we may be able to use you as an undercover agent to slip into the Sabbat, our opposing faction, and find out what's going on. If you are up to it.

Iden. Come here so I may show our new friend the price of crossing me once he accepts my rule.

*Raoul intended to display the power of Iden's anklet. Iden would be compensated, but Raoul did not want Thrar under any illusions that he'd ever be able to do anything save serve Raoul himself if he accepted the offered position*

Iden had stepped back, and kept silent with his smirk for the duration of the conversation. It was Raoul's show, not his, after all. Batman could handle it.

Thrar's reaction prompted a soft snort, and a barely restrained chuckle. Oh, the poor kid...he didn't know half of what he was signing up for. Iden missed being that naive.

But Raoul took him well enough. So Iden kept his peace, until he was bid to approach. His eyes widened, and his eyebrow shot skywards.

Aw s**t. You're kidding, right?

Iden knew, though, that Raoul was not. He groaned, and stepped past Thrar to take position just before Raoul.

Did I ever tell you this s**t blows, chief?

Iden sighed, and quirked a quick glance at Thrar.

Enjoy the show. I'm gonna enjoy watching you realize what you just said.

*The General smirked at Iden, then merely waved a hand, activating the 'trinket' on Iden's ankle without using the remote. His gaze was steady, and absolutely BLANK as he did it. For all Raoul was technically on the sid eof the 'good guys', none of them were by any means NICE. Raoul wished Thrar to understand this, nothing more, nothing less.*

Iden honestly didn't know what to expect. Raoul hadn't used the device before, despite that he had explained how it worked.

So it was to Iden's GREAT displeasure that Raoul chose to demonstrate it now.

As Raoul made his gesture, Iden stiffened visibly, then heaved over. His muscles began to spasm violently, doubling the Brujah over until he dropped to the floor twitching, his face contorted in a pained grimace. He hadn't even had the chance to shout in pain, but it certainly LOOKED like it hurt to be twitching that violently.

Worse, then were the signs that Thrar COULDNT see. Iden would not be standing any time soon, given the anklet's other effect. Were he not wearing full legged jeans, one would be able to see the slow spread of withering and ailing flesh up his leg...but he was wearing jeans, so the sight wasn't one readily available.

What our good friend is experiancing, Thrar, is a highly concerntrated and intense electric shock form his anklet, plus an injection of a subsatnce called Haemoxinate. It was developed by the Kine - humans - to combat our kind. It restricts blood flow and as such, means we are unable to use our Disciplines - our powers. Iden is fomr a line more sensitive to it than most, but it wont kill him. You too will bear one of these, understood?

*he held his hand out to the newly Embraced. Should Thrar take his hand, he would officially become Raoul's latest student and the fun times could begin*

As Iden fell Thrar sidestepped and watched with interest as the other cainite writhed in pain. In his head Thrar was keeping count of as many visible symptoms as could be seen as well as reaction time. Knowledge is power after all. Once the display was over he stepped up to the desk and firmly took Raoul's hand.

"Im in, where do we start?"

He would have to take time soon to record his findings in his notebook. Having perspective on events was key to making beneficial decisions.

We begin... with pain.

*Raoul raised his hand over Thrar's face as his other kept firm hold of Thrar's hand. He seemed to concerntrate for a minute, and Thrar would no doubt feel his blood slowing in his veins, turning sluggish and painful for a few moments before Raoul then let go.
He opened the top draw of his desk and selected a thin knife, usually reserved, it seemed, for opening letters. He laid it on his own wrist, then with a deft flick slit his skin. His veins, raised to start with, bubbled with fresh vitae as Raoul met Thrar's eyes, letting the heady scent of Cainite vitae fill the small space between them. Unlike with his family's blood, which would have been enticing enough, Thrar would find the scent of another cainites blood to be like crack - totally intoxicating even in smell, addictive and powerful*

Drink.

The resolution that had been burning in Thrar's eyes flickered. Then as the scent of Raoul's blood wafted into his nose his eyes glazed over with a shudder he leaned forward and tenatively drank. It was all he could do to keep himself from taking a bite and the effort he was exerting was visible. After a sip he looked up at Raoul questioningly.

Blood is all that we are, all that we crave, all we will ever be. It binds us, empowers us and degrades us all at once. To drink of anothers blood is to seal your own fate, to make one drink of yours is to change their existance. Blood tells us what we can and cannot do and to whome we owe allegiance.
Three drinsk of my blood and you will obey me in ALL things like a slave. You will take a bullet for me, dance for me, even disembowel yourself should I order it. Two drinks and you will obey my orders, but not at the risk of your own life unless you deem it necessary. One drink, which you have just had, ensures you will not betray me willingly.

Tomorrow, you will drink again. The third drink will not be required however. For the rest of tonight, you will feed and settle yourself into a room here, clean yourself and reflect on everything that is to come. Tomorrow, I will begin teaching you. You will stay in your room unles sI personally come for you - it is paramount you maintain a low profile. When you are learned and capable of surviving alone... I will assign you to Iden's team and you'll get you first glance at field work. In time, you will come to be of great use to us and reap the rewards. But for now, you are a child among men. Listen, watch, learn. Dismissed.

Iden, when you can rise... come sit with me.

*Raoul waved his fingers. One of his aides came forward and bowed to Thrar*

I will show you to your room. This way please.

During this whole time, Iden had been suffering through the overtightened muscles associated with severe electrical shock. His chest felt like it was wishing to tear itself along several different seams, leaving him quite winded, even after the flopping around ended.

Eventually he loosened up enough to be able speak. Naturally, the first words out of his mouth..

Aw ******** me!

It perhaps broke the serious overtones of what Raoul was trying to teach Thrar, but that was hardly of Iden's concern. His grunted words of physical ouch were more an unconcious reaction.

Slowly, he began to drag himself into an upright position upon the floor. His legs felt like they'd been liquified, for one, so standing wasn't a good idea, but that was fine. When Raoul bid him to sit, he half-crawled to the chair, grumbling softly to himself in numerous langauges...odds are not a single word spoken was fit for innocent ears.

Thrar stepped back from the Roaul, and bowed.

"Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I will not dissapoint you." he said with his previous resolve beginning to flare up. With that he turned and followed the attendent out of the room. As soon as the door closed behind Thrar his head sagged and he immediately assumed a death grip on the notebook in his pocket. After taking a few breaths to steady himself he followed the attendant without a word.

*Thrar's room was plain and simple - a single bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe, small table and chair, window, en suite bathroom of one person proportions.
Some basic clothing sat in the various recepticles and the only thing that seemed to give the room personality at all, was the apocalyptic painting over the desk - a painting, or variation of, the one that recurred throughout the town hall, the largets version just outside Raoul's office.
The attendant would leave Thrar to his own devices, returning twenty minutes later with three bound and gagged men, which he dropped on the floor. None of them were unconscious, al were trying to scream*

The Prince says he hopes you arent squeamish about your food, you'll have to gbet used to it sometime. Good eve.

*And then he left. The wriggling men smelt of blood.

Meanwhile in the office, Raoul set a goblet of vitae before Iden, watching him carefully*

Now you know exactly what it does. Im sorry I showed it off on you before our new friend, but I also wanted you to understand the risk of crossing me. If we can tame this new one... you are the best suited person we have to shadow him on covert ops. But Im not entirely sure your mentality is up to it... I have heard rumours of split personalities, but then Ive ALSO heard Roan has been being rather... extreme... of late. Care to confirm or deny any of all this?
