Rain felt something graze her knee. She fell down and grabbed it. "Aaahh!!" she yelled out in pain. "It hurts!!" She rocked back and forth and her face contorted in the agony of her wound.

((Ack! I though we'd be frozen up untill monday, so I went int "sleep mode", and stopped patrolling this thread...yeah, I'm an idiot. time for a server-busting post, i think....))
.....Thu-thump....

....Thu-thump.....

A dull, red light....
words.....
Gray's mind had long ago succummed to a state like sleep, but not completely; true rest was denied his mind and body, thanks to the Inverse drive cursed influnence....
...thirsty, exhuasted, and very hungry; Gray's body and soul should have long ago reached the breaking point, but something was wedging open the proverbial door....
but....
It, the driver, wouldn't let him leave, wouldn't let him rest.... Pain almost would have been prefferable to this deluded, deadened state of mind....
Ghostly images of Xeliien's grinning visage danced in his vision, echoes of Decard....
Images of battle also joined this maddened flow of nightmares- gaurds,gunfire....
he wasn't sure any more...
At one point he could have sworn he'd seen Xelien, but that was...
impossible, right?
No, all he'd been left with in this room was a insanity-inducing ache of the Driver, insidious fingers of dark designs that leaked streadily into his weaked conciousness.
Back somewhere upon the eternity, Some soilder had felled him with a coward's blow...that hurt, still....
Straps may have been in order for someone as volatile as Gray, but long ago they had become redundant as Gray's strength dropped off into nothing, leaving him to weak to even for words....
Dimmly, Gray recalled a conversation with the facility manager, Decard:

Quote:

In the darkness Gray awoke. His head was throbbing and there was a thick heavy feeling in the back of his brain. All around noises seemed to swell and recede. Pain seemed to be his only companion.

Through the haze of his eyes he looked around. The cockpit of Mercury was nowhere to be seen. Instead he found himself on a small cot in a slate grey room. A strange place to wake up for sure. Rising to his elbows slowly he took it all in. A concrete floor. Recently mopped. A metal sink, bolted to the wall. The plumbing was encased in a steel cover obviously to keep meddling hands off. On the far wall was a line of bars and sitting past them. A guard in a blinding white uniform.

Gray rubbed his head and the memories started to flood back in. The fight had been hard. Soldiers had swarmed over Mercury's hull in wave after wave. When the c**k pit had finally opened they had been to close together to avoid his guns. It had allowed a quick exit through there falling bodies. The number that had died after that was even higher. Somewhere in the blaze of battle one of them had gotten lucky and the result was the blinding pain he now felt behind his right eye. It pulsed with the beat of his heart.

thump...

Pain seemed to wash over him.

thump...

Again, it jarred him. With each beat the pressure seemed to increase. He leaned forward and put his hand to his head. There was a sticky coating of blood in his hair and a soar spot behind his right ear.

thump...

Pain.

From the other side of the bars the officer stood and looked him over. "You are awake." He said, "Good. The founder wishes to speak with you."
The man busied himself with sending a message but Gray could barely concentrate on it. His head seemed ready to split.

After awhile a door opened and another figure entered the room. An old man dressed in black. His small wire rimmed glasses perched on his nose and a shadow was all that covered his soft bald head. On the breast of his shirt was a symbol. It was a thin black cross with a red diamond at the ends of each line. The symbol was very familiar.

"You.." the old man began,"are subject 34R3KA07 aren't you?"  ....
------
........"I'm very please that you have returned the LFO to us." he continued, "It has been taken to Quatror, another facility in Joy Division. They will be repairing it and investigating any changes that have been made since it's disappearance. We have been looking for it for some time now. I'm afraid you will not be seeing it again however. In fact we were very surprised to find that it had been stolen in the first place. Professor Xelliens laxical security placed a considerable burden on Triga. I believe their funding as a research facility seemed to have dried up shortly after that little fiasco."

Smiling to himself the old man stepped forward. The officer in white brought a chair over to him and placed it near the bars of the cell. With a heavy sigh he sat and straightened out the folds in his cloak.

"Yes, quite a nuisance you were to them." Placing a long bony finger along side his nose he looked into Gray's eyes, "But that will not happen here 34R3KA07." Lowering his hand he continued to stare. "The Novak Foundation is a Lazaretto. No one is permitted to enter or leave without first being approved. You will find it impossible to pull off such an impetuous stunt here as you did there.

"But enough of these idle threats. I actually came to welcome you dear boy. Your presence here has given the Foundation some reason to celebrate. After all, TheEnd's victory over you will go far towards renewing our prestige among the military and the royal families."

Shifting a little he adjusted his rimmed glasses and leaned back in the chair. "I have heard many theories in these past few weeks as to how you were able to take the LFO. Tell me, in your own words. The words of the pilot himself. I should very much like to hear the way you did this."

Gray blinked slowly, dazed, the ache in his head interferring with his thoughts, and the drain from the abrupt shutdown of the inverse drive was intense; it was still leaving his thoughts a blank; even though the wicked thing was problably glowing once more with it's infernal light. The haze part for a moment, thought, allowing him to speak with dry lips.
"Feh....You don't own me; If you think I'll tell you, you're sorely mistaken. TheEND; that black LFO...it was...lucky. I lost it; the bond with Mercury. I'll get it back... And when I do, I'll conquer you just as I did Triga, and I'll Tear that Black Unit apart! You have no idea of what I can create, old man....Just as Triga didn't."
Gray spat, his face shadowed and his matted hair hanging down in his eyes. The Red X glowed for a second brightly in both pupils as Gray issued his declaration agaist his captor, his fury-filled eyes staring out acussingly from the well of shadows that masked his face. His vioce went from venomouss to downright cold and lethal, cutting like a knife upon the still air as he finished his dire, cryptic warning about Triga's folly.

What had happened, next, after that?
Gray searched the haze, blurred images forming together to make a recreation of the next event:

Quote:

The doors burst open to the room that held both Decard and Gray. Its loud bang indicated Xellien’s sudden entrance to the room. Although the action seemed harshly forced, his face held no anger or arrogance.

“Decard, of course.” Xellien question to no one in particular. There was a small smirk edging at his lips, but the look held no pride. Behind him followed two U.F. soldiers.

“You are the one that provided me with the Subjects, am I correct?” He stepped forward. His back was strait but his was head curiously tilted forward, “As I’m sure you remember, I’m Professor Xellien. Although you have gone to much work to provide me with test subjects, they are still my subjects. I will have to take Gray back under my watching eye. There is much more I have yet to succeed.” His eyes jerked at the battered Gray. A light of knowledge started to build within his smile.

“Indeed it has given you strength to even your body… incredible… The device can really enhance the mind, which enhances the body.” His eyes turned back to Decard, that same curious twinkle in his eyes, “I’m sure you agree, Decard, so now I will take him away.” Xellien waved his hand and the U.F. soldiers started forward.

Again, hate. Agian...that face....
Xellien, the monster; the poison that now dripped through his mind.
Gray's lips parted in a cold, frozen smirk akin to that of count Dracula as he was dragged off.
"Xellien! ...that's right, I remember your demonic face all too well, and the name.... better not sleep, the coming nights-You have given me the life of a weapon, and another life has been twisted. If you should ever slacken the chian, You'll fine that weapon in your back...!"
Gray taunted as he was dragged off, staring at the source of his blackened fate with subtle yet nearly tangable antipathy; a tremor was visable as Gray's hand clentched, crushing a nonextant windpipe...
The man was out of sight now, but Gray was still afixed with his appearance; obbsessed with the re-emmergance of his greatest tormentor.
"XELLIEN...." Gray growled, under his breath, before his thought's had faded to darkness....

Yes, that was It, how he had landed here; where time melted to endless nothings, a prison of his own mind's making. Why, what was....

Gray's bloodshot, weary eyes slowly began to lose their glossy, numbed look as the inert Teen glanced up with pianfull slowness, realizing what he was missing; why he was so weak....
Another memory differnetiated itself from the halucinatory visions:
Xellian had appeared at one other time...
Minutes, hours....some time ago...

Quote:

Gray sat in the chair, his body sticky and moist from perspiration. The Inverse Drive had dabbed at his bodies limits, gushing out all the liquid his body held.

"Gray." A voice mistily traveled through his thoughts. His eyes opened lopsidedly. Slowly a mist traveled across the floor and up into one point. Decard's attention was pointed elsewhere, but it seemed at the moment that Decard could not see this forming mist. As the mist gathered together and became thicker, it finally took on a greenish shape of some human.

"Interesting... I can see the signals puncturing against the trapar... what an amazing experience." The voice's slurred tones finally formed into something more stable. Finally the misty took on the shape of Xellien. It almost seemed as if he were actually there, standing right behind Decard. His eyes were curiously glancing around, looking at objects that could only be seen by him. After a moment his eyes finally settled on Gray.

"Incredible, the human mind has made reservation for a world it doesn't understand. Can you see me Gray?" Xellien asked and smiled. He titled his head and lifted his hand. When he did so, it mystified into a green gas, and then quickly formed back together.

"I'm not sure if you understand, Gray, but I'm not really here. I've been slightly anxious to use this program, and another." He lifted his head back up at Gray, "In all actuality, I didn't think this would work at all. The trapar is linked to our very minds Gray, you more than me. I've been able to link us... but only temporarily. If I expose myself to this machine to long... well... I might end up outside of my body." A chuckle cracked through his lips as he waved his hand back and forth. Once again it broke into swirling green mists. It shrunk and expanded, attempting to form back together.

"But enough is enough Gray. The guards are going to give you a chance to escape... and I'm going to test my next program on you." Xellien lifted in his and pressed a few buttons on some invisible console. Suddenly an energy filled inside Gray's chest, spreading through his whole body until his fingers felt as if it could even crush metal.

"You have a choice... escape with a KLF, or come back to my ship. Though don't get any ideas on murder. I'm the only one left that can remove the Inverse Drive. That goes along with Kayako as well... you can take her along if you wish." His smile became wider before his body melted into a heavy greenish liquid. The goo seeped into the crack of the floor, disappearing. ]

Gray stared out blankly at the space where Xellian had been, futilely attempting to force his mind to understand, to ignore the screaming nerves that made his head felt like it was split, it see clearly, rather than dehydrated hulucinations.... But, he wasn't sure if any of it was real, any more, all there was left was a cold ember of hate.... Gray had no clue whether or not this strange feeling of power was reall, or just another illusion...

Finnaly, Gray understood, managed to peice his will back together into a sentient pattern for the first time in many hours. Following the chain of events relived through his deluded eyes had unravelled it, his missing weapon, his defense agianst this exhuastion. Slowly, Gray smirked weakly, the The power granted to him becoming real; he did in fact, have the power to escape; and if he could just gather his scattered mind, he could use it. To do that, he needed...
"me....r...cur...y...."
Gray croaked in a hallow, husky vioce, mentally wishing for the LFO who's fate was bonded to his own. As one in battle, maybe....they could still be.
Gray's bleary eyes shot open, dialating as they beheld something invisable to anyone else...
The walls faded away, dull overgrown fields and barbed wire darted past as his vision seemed to telescope, untill....
mercury.
For a second, Gray's own body was replaced by the of the LFO, as though he was seeming from it's eyes; In a second strobe flash, the hand he raised in front of his face was his own agian. A third flash, and it was Mercury's, finnaly changing back to his own veiw of the cell, everything as it should be, no halucinations. Gray slowly, wickedly grinned. That fool Xellien had left out one option: Get Mercury airborne.
Agian, there might have been some straps pinning him, but Gray didn't notice; not as he simply climbed to his feet with few faint snaps. Suddenly, the walls didn't look so sturdy, anymore.
*******
In the Quasor repair stalls, a UF techie suddenly cried out, and stumbled back from the mysterous silver archetype he was working on: It's Green eyes had suddenly flared to life, as if it was alive.... Thought silent, the machine stared unervingly down at the Man accusingly....
Shivering, the man continued his work, glancing up agian at the errie lights.
((There, all posts answered in the form of flashbacks. Whew!
*EDIT* missed part of that last quote, so I went back and updated the post to reflect it. Gray has now gained the willpower to think properly, and used the strength given too him several minutes after it was initialy given.))

((It's ok. I forgive you!! ^___^ grudgingly... -._-. Wow... umm... guess I should... look around for ya like Kayako said to.. oO`))

Rain crawled to a wall, blood oozing out of the side of her knee. She managed to find some peice of cloth (don't ask why or how) and tied it around to suck it up. That'll have to do for now... she thought. Time to go find... who ever it is.

Rain began to crawl along the floor. "Hello?" she called out. "Anyone here?"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:39 am

(((I'm writing this after I've just woke up from a nap...tell me if I made any mistakes <3)))

The sounds of guns fireing and waves of enemy bullets reverberated off the steal door that formed a barracade in front of them. Dents were beggining to form on the inside of it, threatening to give way at a moments notice and let loose all hell on the less-then-prepared parties hiding behind it.

Kayako had managed to keep them safe until now, but it was obvious that everything had drastically blown out of it's original proportion, turning what was a few moments ago just a sketchy rescue mission into an all-out gorilla gun-fight.

As she backed up, she started thinking more clearly than she had been. Things weren't going to be easy. If they wanted to live through this, they needed to be smart about it. Kayako's biggest concern was Rain. Not because she had no fighting experience, but because she was, unlike them, not considered entirely 'invaluable'. It was a pretty good assumption that the guards had been ordered by Xellien or one of the higher-ups only to kill Grey and herself as a last resort. With their red-headed tagalong.........there wasn't that extra protection. Their opponents bullets wouldn't be spared for her if worse came to worse.

On that note, Kayako moved away from her position and went after Rain as she started searching through the blackend room. As they met up, she removed the second stolen gun from her shoulder, and handed it to her friend.

"Listen Rain, things are getting pretty bad. I need you to hang on to this, and if your ever cornered, use it. Trust me, those guards aren't gonna go easy on you especially."

After saying that, she branched out from Rain and started searching the other half of the room; a difficult task in itself considering they were maneuvering in almost complete darkness, making all furniture or the shape of the human body they were hoping to find unrecognizable at a distance.

(((((((thump)))))))

A delayed but sudden shockwave from her chest caused Kayako to loose her balance for a moment and fall backwards, hitting the back of her head against what appeared to be a metal bar. She cursed a bit, grimaced and rubbed the ingury, then prepared to go on with her mission.

However as she stood up, she suddenly halted completely, listening quietly so something behind her.

After a moment she heard it again.....and again.....
There was no doubt about it now.
It was breathing.

She felt another pulse in her chest.
A quick glance over her shoulder saw the unmistakable shape of two glowing red x's shine through the blackness around them, then vanish.

It was so faint she'd almost missed it, but now Kayako almost couldn't contain herself. She got chills, standing up and twisting around, then almost literally falling against the containment cell, grabbing on to two of the bars with her hands.

"Grey....Grey is that you??"

"That's it, the computer are recording all information to three different locations. Loosing this data is unlikely." Xellien smiled with full satisfaction as he pressed in a few more controls.

"These tests are going very well, Proffesor Xellien. The U.F. will now have the greatest weapon within their grasp." A scientist commented from the side, the same one that was known as Jackob. Xellien frowned slightly at the comment, and hesitently nodded. The pause hardly escaped Jackob's notice.

"Something Wrong Xellien, how much longer do you suppose we'll wait for them?" Jackob asked and carefull studied the man's facial features. Xellien replied with a smirk and shook his head.

"Don't be a idiot. I've created two of the most powerful weapons on this earth... And now I have them both hating me with a loving passion." He finished the last commanded and started out the shuttle. Jackob stood up, bewildered at what was going on, "I cant stay here any longer. They can find each other... but they can't find me. My connection with Gray has been severed." He stopped and carefully glanced around the room.

"What is it?" Slowly Jackob asked.

"Problems... I'm leaving on a different shuttle. I think I've made a pathetic mistake." He glanced back and shared a strange smile.

"Xellien?" Was all Jackob could respond with. Xellien shrugged and left the shuttle. When Jackob ran to catch up, he had already disappeared.

---

"Stand dow-" A soldier shouted through the gunfire, but paused when something suddenly shook the entire building.

"What was that?" One asked who was in a crouched position. The other, who was standing, glared at the walls around them.

"Xellien said something strange would happen... It's no longer safe, abort the area. I repeat, ABORT!" He shouted. The three shoulders stood up and ran.

((I'm just too lazy to check for mistake. I apologize for missed s's, ed's, and other grammatical mistakes.))

((Ok, since I have premission, let my mistake-Nazi side come out! ^___^ 1) It's spelled "guerilla." Guerilla warfare does not involve large apes. razz 2) It's spelled "gray." razz Wel... that's about all I found. ^__^))

Rain stared at the weapon Kayako gave her. She wasn't sure if she wanted to use it or not. She shook her head and paid no more mind to it. If I have to use it... I will... she though deteriminedly.

She began to crawl around some more, checking every shadowy shape she found to see if it was a person. So far, she had no luck in detecting Gray. "Where could he be...?" she pondered in a whisper.

Hearing a loud crash and some rough words, she turned towards it. "Kayako?" she called out. She turned her whole body and crawled towards the place she believed the sound originated from. Finally she reached Kayako and some squarish shape. She put her arms on the edge and hauled herself up so she stood on her knees. "What are you looking at?" she asked her.

((Yay! I'm slowely but surely getting better at scene-making... biggrin )))

"WAAAAGH!"

The building shook, and Kayako lost her hold on the bars and fell backwards, smacking into a very surprised Rain who'd come over to see what was going on after hearing that Gray's cell was finally found.

Both girls smacked hard against the opposite wall, landing in a jumbled heap on the floor. The duo groaned, and after a moment of disorientated maneuvering somehow managed to regain their footing. Whatever was causing the sudden earthquakes was still going strong. It was very hard to stay upright, forcing the two of them to cling to furniture and walls to stop themselves from falling. Behind them the only window in the room cracked down the middle and shattered, showering glass shards all through the dimly-lit surroundings. The two of them ducked down fast enough that they weren't seriously injured, but several sharp edges flew past them, cutting shallow gashes through Kayako's arms, legs and cheek as she tried to sheild her friend. After all, Rain already had one wound that was slowing her down.

Righting herself as the glass stopped flying, Kayako slowely made her way back to Gray's holding cell. Now that the window was gone, a small amount of light had penetrated the blackness from before; the boy's outline was faintly visible, strapped down on the other side of the bars. He looked like a trapped lab mouse; the mere sight of which made Kayako make a silent vow to herself. She would make sure the people who did this to him payed for it any way she could. But for now at least, she needed to get him out of there.

Weilding a small bit of metal wire she'd found on the floor, she started to pick the lock. After a moment she heard a small click.

Dropping her tool, she tried to open up the door, but all the shaking of the foundation had knocked the door off it's bottom hinge, only allowing her to pry it open enough to squeeze herself halfway through the opening sideways.

She stretched as far as she could go. She could see he was conscious, but he seemed so dazed that he didn't even notice her there; or anything going on around him. Kayako reached her hand forward and shook his shoulder lightly. They all needed to get out of there before the wing collapsed.

"Gray!! Gray, can her hear me?? Say something!! Come on, we need to get out of here!! And we still have to find Senturi and your LFO!!"

Rain was in a daze. She... protected me... she was thinking. It was amazing to her because no one has ever looked out for her. She never knew, or rather forgot, what it was like to have a friend.

Regaining her senses, she limped over to Kayako. "How can I help?" she asked when she was done yelling at the limp, yet alive, body. She looked down at him. This is terrible... she thought of what was done to him. He got it worse than the rest of us.

Kayako wiggled a bit, managing to squeeze herself most of the way inside.

"Yeah....we need to figure out a way to get this door open! I might be able to cut his straps from here, but there's no way we can squeeze him through an opening like that!"

Grabbing a peice of glass, she leaned over and carefully started working on his binds.

"Rain, can you see if there's something we can use to pry the door open all the way??"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 30, 2006 5:23 pm

Rain watched as she squeezed through. Wonder if I could do that... she pondered. Shaking her head, she got back on track. She nodded her agreement at complying with helping Kayako. Now that there was a bit more light in the room, her search would be a bit easier.

She scowered the room, trying to see if there was anything that could open the door. Finding some computer consoles, she searched them over. Maybe... hopefully... a-HA! She found what she hoped she would. A key.

((Hehe, a key. Why not? Make this go faster. razz ))
