Ok, I went online and while I couldn't find the original articles I saw three years ago on Rebel Grot armies I did find these fun things. Please note that to my knowledge all of these are unofficial.
http://www.roburky.uk2k.com/html/rebel_grot_codex.html
http://www.thewarp.net/war/tigersofveda/themedorks2.html
http://www.ifelix.co.uk/jimbo_gretchin_02.html
Lots of people have put together Rebel Grot armies I think, but almost all of them have done so with a "funny as possible" mindset because... well... they're just Gretchin. That's the appeal of the Orks in general I think, besides being one of the best possible races for conversions and vehicle creations, they are the funnest army in the 40K universe. No matter how many troops or tanks you loose you can always just laugh it off and come back for more later. Da Boyz always winz.

I'm not sure if it was an armageddon special rule or not. The person did field an army using bits from the armageddon codex. But yeah, basically, it's a free attack at the start of a combat. o_o I got really bad with my save and because the apothecary was the closest model, it had to be removed..

I finally got home and was able to look this up for you Cagalli. It wasn't a Speed Freak upgrade, just the normal Bionik Arm like I thought. Causes one automatic str. 4 hit in close combat with an equivalent Init. 6 with a model in base to base. Also counts as a second close combat weapon above and beyond the normal weapons restrictions, and the Codex actually encourages it being modelled in any way the player feels like. Retractable spikes, a shoota, whatever. The one on my Warboss is actaully a squig chained to his Cyboar I converted from a 'Nid Ripper, once killed a Pheonix Lord with his automatic hit, real proud of that little squig.

Damn you are weird.. xd Anyway, sounds cool. As it stands though, I do not think all the bikers can take them.

Actually, being a biker has almost nothing to do with it. It's a Wargear selection, anyone who can take [points cost deleted by Games Workshop] worth of Wargear can get a Bionik Arm in an Ork army. It's close to their finest item I think. The only Biker who could take one would be a Nob. Unless it's a Speed Freak Army, in which case a Warboss could also be on a bike, and he as well could have a Bionik Arm.

Exactly my oint. I meant, I do not think that anything that is just BASIC can take it. As it stands, that statement was just using bikers as an example.

Ah, sorry then. But no worries, I heard a rumor that there is going to be a new type of unit for the Orks in the next Codex installment (however many years away that may be). Similar to how Mad Boyz are a Troops choice for a Feral army, and Cyborks are a retinue for a Painboss in a normal Ork army, there is going to be a new Str. 4 base unit for the Orks. It's supposed to be some sort of chemical and mechanical construct with a Dok add on like a Burna Boy squad gets a Mek add on. An entire limited Troop choice of Str. 4, 5+ Invulnerable save, of heavy weapon loaded Orks. I haven't heard much, but they sound like a lot of fun to model so far.

Well, the Orks should have A new one in the next two years, I think. They really do need it more than any other group now.

Do you honestly expect them to get their new Codex before at least 3 Space Marine Chapters, the Tau, another 'Nid revision, and an Eldar Codex are published? I'm not even a very pressemistic guy, I just don't expect GW to put out Cedices vert quickly.

Will praying to the Emperor make it happen faster? Gork and Mork could care less, ironically enough in some of their stories I have read they are the epitome of late American rugged individualism. But it seems wrong to ask the Emperor to bless us with the means to better crush and enslave the servants of the Imperium.

Actually you appear to have been misled. On the turn Bikes use their Psycho Blasta's rule they don't get to fight i close combat at all. Also when in close combat they loose their 5+ invulnerable save. I find the darned things to be a total waste of points as anything but a mobile smokescreen for vehicles...

Well then my bad there, it also depends on the gener- I mean Warboss. My friend that I play agianst alot he uses his Biker Boys really well, plus he has alot Big Shootas.

he means this biker nob

User Image

and he just mis wrote it the gear I gave him he always has the 5+ invulnerable save (cybork body) and the rule is and I quote

In an assault Bikers use there bigshootas to blast the enemy at point blank range breaking through their lines in a storm of shrapnel. This means that warbikes that charge into close combat strike first and make a shooting attack on the enamy in the first round instead of fighting normaly. once warbikes have resolved there shots their opponents may fight back.

ok thats the rule to clear that up

Thanks for clearing that up.

You simply couldn't resis showing you Biker Nob could you. *shakes head*

Well it is an impressive conversion. For some reason the Fantasy Orks have better close combat weapons in their sprues I think. And thier spears make very handy Bosspoles and other things.

That is true. I still say that my Grot army will kick all ORK asses any day. Any army shall fall to the Great Grot Galvanized Fighting Force.

Your delusions, while cute, will availe you not when faced with the cold reality that Grots have no leadership to speak of, and no weapons worth mentioning. I'd use maximum squads of Ork Bikers and Killa Kans against your pitiful uprising against your rightful Orky masters. Their superior toughness and armor would make short work of even your most 'elite troops'. Waaagh!.
