Aiko smiled once again when Ebon turned towards her. He seemed nice but you can only tell so much about a person by simply saying hi. Ebon, that was an elfin name but he didn't resemble an elf from where she stood. Instantly she became interested in how he got his name but she was still unsure of what she wanted. Man kicking her old thinking was going to be tough but she was going to have to do it somehow some way. Everyone that was apart of the group seemed to have something special about them or their past something of which she didn't have. Well beside her power over shadows and darkness but she never used them. She was about to look down at her weapons when Ebon announced that they should hurry before they are left behind.
"Oh…yeah," she checked to make sure she had everything one more time before taking off behind him. Her arms and legs were heavy but she managed to keep up behind him some feet. When Ebon turned around to see if she was there she was just stopped by the guard. She nearly ran into since he just suddenly stepped in front of him but she ducked and ran under his legs. Being small came in handy sometimes. She giggled to herself turning and making a funny face towards the guard. She turned back around and waved towards Ebon with a cheerful smile.
She kept running until she was along side Boan. Her jade orbs looked at Blade ahead of them and wondered why he was walking so far behind her. Blinking a few times she turned her head towards Boan who towered over her now that he was standing. "Aww man you’re so tall," she giggled resting her arms on top of her head to give them a rest. "Is there something wrong? I mean why so far behind Blade?" she guessed about twenty feet. It wasn't that much of a distance but they were a group now everyone should stay close but then again people like their space. She guessed that was one of the reason but she asked anyway to see if there was something more.
Blade sometimes seemed so mystifying to her but she could never shake the feeling of why. Aiko turned her head away from him looking at the back of Blade half thinking to herself.

Well, at least people were catching up, eh? Blade yawned and rubbed her forehead, feeling sleepy. Her head would be aching for a while. How dandy! Muttering a curse to herself she turned around and laughed at the angered expression on the gaurd's face. Appearantly everyone else had done their own type of salute to him. Chuckling to herself she turned around and the group walked around a bend and disappeared from the gaurd's view. She looked around at all of the trees and sighed while she shook her head. Trees, trees, trees. They were everywhere, and it was rather tiring. Oh well, one had to expect that from a place like this. Mountains had pine trees, and that was where they were. Well, not really, more like sort of big hills. Yeah, really intellegent way to describe that Blade. Shaking her head she looked around at the trees.
Lots and lots of trees.
Oh joy.
After half a day of walking and seeing... lots of other trees, Blade stopped and turned around to look at the others. Then she lifted up her hand and pointed up to the mountains that stood close and masked the horizon. "Y'see that? Well nevermind, of course you can see it, stupid question. Anyway, in those mountains there's the lightening spawn. And even though pretty much everyone here, except for poor little Boan, is a spawn hunter so we all know that it can control lightening. But I doubt that any of you have actually fought against the blasted thing. It's the fastest single elemented spawn, thus making the evil little b*****d almost impossible to even see because at the first sign of something approaching it zips right off. I've had encounters with it before, and this is the wonderful thing about it: You know all of these weapons that we have? Crap. All crap against the spawn. If you just as much try to get near that thing with your metal weapons all that electricity that surrounds the spawn travels your way and shots through you like you were getting struck like a bolt of lightening... which is pretty much exactly what it's like. So once we see the spawn, or someone else does, drop all of your weapons and do not go up to try and touch it! Try and hit it with your bare hand- bzzt! Your fried. I've seen many people try to do this and it's just stupid. We're going to have to use magic, and like the water spawn we're going to have to figure out how to keep it in one place. But arrows aren't going to be anything close to fast enough. The lightening spawn travels faster than you can blink your eye, so the moment that someone as much sees something golden out of the corner of your eye we'll have to act immediately."
Taking a pause Blade lowered the arm that had been hanging in the air and rubbed her head. "It's all going to be elemental magic. Don't try and run up to the lightening spawn trying to act like a hero because she'll kill you. Now then! Does anyone have any sort of magic that they might have that could stop it in its tracks?"

Boan stuck his hands in his pockets as he walked, staring at the back of the woman walking ahead of him. The woman frustrated him like no other. But she was an incredible warrior when it got down to it, and if anyone could kill a spawn, it was her. Suddenly he was pulled from his thoughts by the voice of Aiko, the attractive girl he’d met earlier. He did not really know her age, but her size automatically made him think girl instead of woman. She was probably used to it. He turned his head to her and thought about how to answer her question.
“Blade can be scary. She’s not a good mood right now, so I plan to keep my distance. You should do the same.”
He turned his head back toward Blade again. Aiko was pretty, and if he’d met her differently, he might have tried something by now. But to be honest, most of the people in this little group would probably die, or quit. No one had ever killed a spawn before Blade and these people tried, but the water spawn was only one of many, and it was only going to get harder from here. These groups never lasted. Boan must have tried at least a dozen times before he met Blade, who’d probably tried several dozen times.
Boan didn’t really talk much until they stopped later that day, when they reached the mountain. Blade decided to stop and instruct everyone on how to kill a virtually undefeatable spawn. Boan and Blade had met through the lightning spawn. Both of them attacked it at the same time, and neither of them actually damaged it. Boan missed because he was almost hit by one of Blade’s fireballs. Blade missed because the spawn was too fast for the fireball. Boan had zoned off somewhat but came back when his name was mentioned. He quickly said, “Actually, I am a spawn hunter. I just took a break to make some money.” He didn’t want any of them to mistakenly think of him as some random fighter who had no experience with spawn. He’d gone up against five of them in the past. Sure, he’d failed to kill any of those five spawn, but that was just because he wasn’t powerful enough to do it alone.
When Blade was finished speaking, Boan took a step forward. “I don’t know what everyone here can do, but the lightning spawn is resistant to most magic, too. How are we actually going to kill it? What can we do to harm it?”

"It is true that the spawn is resistant to most magic." Blade nodded to Boan's statement as she leaned casually on a hip and tapped her fingers against one of her legs. "But everything has a weakness. Like the earth spawn. He's got an almost unbreakable defense, but he... is SLOW. The lightening spawn is almost exactly the same. It's got one hell of a defence. But if you break past this defense, it's body is very weak. Without its element to make it powerful it looses and speed and defense." She sighed and stopped, her eyes moving around as she searched her mind for the stores of information she had locked inside of it. While Blade didn't seem very bright, she was the exact opposite. For one thing, it was highly doubtful that anyone knew as much about the spawns as she did. They shouldn't, that information, as helpful as it may seem, was not something that everyone should know or else it would end with bad results.
"We've got to shut its lightening down. We have to steal it."

[Tidal? Die? I don't think so!]
Ebon pondered at what Blade said. Form what both Boan and Blade said, the spawn was obviously fast, resistant to magic and if you touched it pain would ensure. Well, they'd have to slow it down first. "I find it difficult to move about in mud, I'm sure this applies to all creatures of this world. I can barely walk in it. You get what I'm saying? All we have to do is lure the Spawn into a trap that will slow it down, but seem not too obvious. Drawing it into mud could be a good choice."
There was one idea to rid it of it's speed. However, now they needed to be able to touch it. Which should not be too difficult. "We don't necessarily have to "steal" it's energy. It can die with it. We don't have to actually touch it to win. Plus, I've heard of some substance in this world that nullifies electrical currents somehow. I forget what it's called."
[I don't think rubber would have been too popular in this time. xD]

[[Sorry I'm having Internet problems ^^;;]]
Aiko nod her head as Boan told her about Blade. She could understand that many people needed space every now and again so she didn’t mind. Seeing that not too many people where talking she thought it best to stay to herself as well. To herself she hummed the song Blade played before they left. With each step she took her hip swayed to the beat in her head. She couldn’t help but be bored and had to do something. Aiko stayed in her own little world until noticing Blade slow down and then coming to a stop.
Almost immediately she leaned on the closets tree near her and took a seat. Stretching her tired legs out in front of her and her arms at her side she relaxed her body. Then looking towards Blade listening carefully to what was being said. Well it all sucked from where she sat. Aiko had no experience fighting a spawn she always had the trouble just finding one. She couldn’t even hit it with her weapons or even touch it. She sighed lifting her head back looking at the sky through the small holes of the scattered leaves. The little light that hit her eyes bounced off like glass.
She was thinking about her power and what she could do with it. It’s been so long since she even tried anything with the darkness. She pulled her legs closer to her crossing them Indian style. Well it seems she was going to have to set this one out. She wouldn’t be able to help them in any way and this only made her feel bad. Blade took her attention when she said they would have to still its electricity. Aiko lowered her head again looking at Blade in deep thought.
How where they to do that? She uncrossed her legs rising one so that she could rest her arm on it and her head in her hand. Beating at her brain hard for a plan that could at least help them in some way she tried to think of something that could work. Her eyes narrowed; scratching behind her ear after another few moments she left her head opening her mouth to speck but pressed her lips together. She was going to mention the use of something rubber but how would that work along the lines of stilling it. Rubber wasn't very commen anyway. Finally she began to speak, “How about we move it…its electricity I mean. Some how transfer its power through melt even water to another place somewhere where it can’t have accesses to it…Never mind,” she came to a dead end going over the facts again. Moving it would be near impossible considering its speed. Then the mention of mud was a good idea.
If we add water it will only get stronger…if we take the moister out of the air it should lessen the shocks some what. Mud will slow it down... She looked at her second hand in her lap still thinking. Am I thinking to hard about this? If we could control earth this would be easier for us. What if we shack it with its opposite charge canceling the electricity out? Would that slow it down? Where would we get that anyway? Gah, I wish I paid attention to that teacher of mines. She clinched her hand into a fist unable to think.
“Why not use me and stop holding me in?” a faint voice whispered in the back of her mind. Now she felt like she was going crazy but knew who it was. “You’re weak without me and you know it. Look now I have gained the power to talk to you when you’ve blocked me out numerous of other times. Why now? Why let me speck now? Maybe because you can’t hold me in any longer…did you think getting a new weapon would suppress me even more? I think you fail to realize that I live in you.” The voice kept going and Aiko couldn’t shut the damn shadow up. “I will not use you,” she answered in her mind a little distracted and unease from the simple fact she couldn’t hold it in.
Standing again she looked to the group, “Please excuse me for a moment. I will not go far.” A faint smile crossed her face if you could call it one. She placed her hand on the side of the tree walking off from the group as if nothing was wrong. “You know the more you try to put me down the stronger I get. Come on I’ve learned my lesson.” The voice went on in her head. Aiko held her head trying to push the seconded her back. She stopped walking almost eighty meters from the group. Taking a set again with her back towards them and only half of her back visible while the other half of her body rested easy on the side of the tree, she tried to shut the little power seeping out back in.

Blade shook her head and Ebon's statement, silently disagreeing. "Think about how fast it is. It's thin and incredibly light. It's built to be able to crawl over things so it doesn't get stuck in something like mud. It may work, but the spawn could just as easily jump over the mud we tried to trap it in. However, we'd need to use it in such a way that it'd could work because you must remember," Blade took in a breath before speaking again. "spawns aren't wild animals. They're smart, calculating, and cunning. They're just as smart as people are. They're not animals." She stated flatly while she shook her head again. "Well they are, just not with the brain part...."
She looked over at Aiko and nodded, watching the girl walk off before thinking about Ebon's other suggestion. "I think you're talking about... rubber. It'd work, but we'd need a ton of it. And considering that it's limited and rare, it's not going to work unless you can pop some out right here and now. As for what Aiko said, that's actually partly what I meant about stealing it. The spawn generates the lightening inside of its body and mixes it with the small amount of static that's constantly moving through the air. It takes some of the static, lines it up, and then uses that to guide where it's lightening goes. Now check this out." Blade pulled a sword off of her back and then stuck it into the ground. "This is like a mixture of what Ebon and Aiko were talking about. If we take our swords and put them in a circle and try and get the spawn to get into them, then the lightening will stretch out because of the metal. Either the spawn will get stuck or it'll be temporarily stunned. We can try and use something sticky, like mud, to make it stop, because without lightening the little b*****d won't be able to move as quickly and won't be as light. So it'd sink in, leaving a temporary moment for us to strike. That's when we need to use our magic."
Blade drew a few designs into the ground, nibbling lightly on her lip while thinking. "I dunno what'll happen to our swords though, they may get ******** up. And everything about my plan could easily fall apart. We'll have to climb up, find a good spot, and figure out how to lure the lightening spawn. I hear that it likes shiny stuff, like those squishy leggy things in the ocean.... Octosomethings...."

Listening to all the plans, Boan had to wonder where these people were getting ideas. Lightning was attracted to metal. Lightning always took the path of least resistance. Had any of these people ever seen a lightning rod? “Whoa. I’m not an expert on lightning and such, but have any of you ever seen a lightning rod? They’re tall metal rods used to protect people from lightning. Lightning is attracted to metal. When the lightning hits the rod, the energy from the lightning is sent along metal chains or wire and into the ground, where the energy disappears,” Boan said, struggling to properly explain the devices. “I know the spawn is fast, but if we attached a chain to something long and metal, and then attached that chain to the ground, and stabbed the spawn with the metal object, wouldn’t its power rush into the ground? I mean, wouldn’t that leaving it defenseless?”
Wow. How the hell had he learned so much about lightning? Boan had gone through some pretty nasty places, the worst being this place where it was almost constantly stormy. The whole area had been filled with lightning rods. No one really knew why the weather was so messed up over there, but most suspected Tidal had something to do with it. Still, he didn’t remember knowing so much about this particular subject.
“Also, if he try and trap it in an area, wouldn’t it be good idea to fill that place with lightning rods? The bolts it shoots at people would be attracted to the metal, even if they were aimed at us.” In some ways, this plan was similar to what Blade had suggested, with the sword. “We’d just have to find and shape a lot of metal. And I suppose that’s easier said than done.”
Boan stopped talking when he noticed Aiko had gone. He hadn’t heard her say anything but the others didn’t seem too worried, so he assumed she’d said something. Boan shoved his hands in his pockets and sighed. “Anyway, you know, just a thought.”

To Ebon, both plans seemed very dangerous. Stalior was inclined to agree with him to, not like any of the other people could hear Stalior though. But, it's not like there was going to be a safe way to deal with the Spawn, one of them was bound to get badly injured. Especially by Blade's idea. It could easily be unaffected and kill them all in one attack. That would definitely suck. And then there was Boan's plan, which did seem like a good idea at first. But Stalior had brought up some valid points for Ebon to discuss.
"Uh, Boan, your plan sounds like it could work. However... According to Blade, the spawn is very fast and light. This means we'd most likely have to attach that chain by hand. This isn't really the problem, but once the metal chain hits the spawn, would the lightning not only go into the ground but into the person holding the chain as well? And it seems unlikely that we'd be able to tie it up from a distance.... The lightning rods sound like a good idea though."
And then it hit him. Did Blade say the spawn was attracted to shiny objects? If it were, they could use that to their advantage. But, if it was an intelligent form of life, it wouldn't fall into the trap easily. "Actually, we might be able to trap it in a metal chain from a distance. If it is attracted to shiny objects, I could be used as bait to lure it out. After all, Stalior here shines brightly in the moonlight. Now, if it does come for me, you guys could be hiding on the side and wait for it to attack me, or something. Before it does attack me you could launch those chains at it in an effort to get it wrapped up, but the moment you guys throw the chain let go of it and use a stake or something to pound it into the ground. This would not only get rid of it's lightning, but also hinder it's movements substantially. You probably wouldn't have much time to attach it before it gets free, but that's when you guys could bring in those metal rods and surround the spawn with them."

'Heh, can you hear them? If you can't you should really go over there and pay attention,' the voice rambled on in Aiko's mind. Aiko tightened her eyes lowering her head pressing her face into her hands. No matter what she did the voice was still talking to her and slowly she was losing her hold on her dark powers. 'They are really talking about some helpful stuff. Want me to tell you? Why did I ask? I'll tell you anyway,' the cold voice went on. Aiko couldn't do anything but listen, besides she was telling her useful information.
"Please just get out of my head," Aiko pleaded silently to the person she kept locked away for so long. 'Oh I would love to but where am I going to go. I'm sure as hell am not going to be locked up in that little space of your mind. I know that for sure. Hey why not let me take over. You need a brake anyway besides we're still the same person, right?' Aiko stood up taking a deep breath regain control once again. Finally she was ok again and blocked the voice out. She smiled happily turning and heading back for the group.
Within two steps she stumbled falling to her knees and on her side. A sharp pain stabbed her mind and a soft shot of pain ran through her body. Aiko clinched her teeth rolling on her back feeling herself slowly fade away. Opening her eyes the image of the world became painted in a deep shade of purple along with the marble green color of her eyes. Soon the pain subsided and Aiko slowly hoist herself off the ground.
"Damn girls a pain," she mumbled looking around for the group. Her purple eyes spotted them within moments. Quickly she collected herself and took a step forward into a black hold that seeped from the ground swallowing her body. Like steam from a hot kettle her body reformed behind a tree closer to the group. "Yeah, that sounds like a good plan," her unchanged voice followed after Ebon's suggestion. Aiko walked from behind the tree leaning on it and crossing her arms. "But where are the metal rods coming from?" her eyes narrowed keeping herself from making detract eye contact with anyone.
This person before them was no longer Aiko but someone who could care less if they succeed or died. Her name was Eva and Aiko had accidentally created her by holding in her dark powers and never using them. The only reason Eva was still around at this point was because she wasn't completely free of Aiko's hold. Eva gave off more of a cold dark feeling of a true dark elemental. A split personality was what it was called.

'The swords ARE the lightening rods....' Blade thought to herself, a little aggitated by Boan's words. Whatever, she wasn't one to engage into an argument over something so small.
....
...Sometimes.
She leaned over on her other hip, listening while the two men shared their ideas. They were both good, but like her's, very dangerous. "That is a good idea Ebon. If we pull it off, we'll have to be very precise. The lightening spawn is fast. If we don't pull off what we have to do right on time, then, Ebon my dear sir, you're either gonna be fried up like a sausage on a blazing hot pan or be knocked out and that legendary sword will most likely be stolen. And trust me, if you lose that sword, it ain't just gonna be your town elders that'll kill ya'." Blade brought up her thumb, jabbing it towards her chest and giving him a wink. "It's the best plan, I suppose, though. We'll also have to throw them and let go properly. Even if you're not touching a metal object sometimes the lightening will just over to you, so jump as far back as possible. Now then! We're gonna need some chains. Mud ain't gonna be a problem. We should probably get some lightening rods too, just for that extra snap."
Then, a chilly sense went through the air. Something was tugging at her shadow senses. Her head moved over to where she sensed it, but there was nothing. She paused before looking back at the others, opening her mouth to speak again, until Aiko came out. Her senses jolted again. That wasn't Aiko.
"But where are the metal rods coming from?"
"Swords. That's what the rods are supposed to be." Blade responded, hiding her irritation and merely looking over at the petite woman. That scene of something off was gone. It'd only been for a few moments and then the energy was gone. There was some sort of a shift, and Blade now knew that it'd come from Aiko. The only reason she'd noticed was because of the small flicker of shadow energy. Blade highly doubted that anyone else had.
'Strange....'

Ebon sighed at the words coming from Blade. How reassuring. She thought he would either be killed or at least knocked unconscious if they made the slightest error. "Do-"... "Ebon. Be careful. Something has happened to Aiko. Moments ago, a surge of Dark energy erupted from her body. However, now it's gone. Just keep an eye on her. Don't give the impression you know of any of this." The voice echoed slightly in his head and then disappeared. Aiko changed? Ebon had noticed nothing of the sort. But if he said so it was probably true. After all, he had proven earlier that he could sense certain changes in magical impulses. It was his special talent, aside from being able to manipulate and control all types of magics. That's probably why he was made into a hero.
"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Stalior is the last thing going to be on my mind, no need to worry about that." Ebon imitated Blade's little "Thumb to chest and sticking tongue out" technique she displayed earlier. "So shall we commence this 'operation'?" Ebon asked, laughing slightly. The wind blew heavily around them now, as if the atmosphere around them had just become more stressful. It was to be expected, they were to embark now on a life or death attack. And so far death seemed more plausible than life.
