I just got to try a mello. I never realised how easy they are. And then I got braces, so I've lost my range above C. Then Mr. Janak has to go and make it worse by having the horn section (Me and one other girl who you can barely hear) Stand up and play the hard section of our song, which includes a bunch of intervals which are usually no problem for me, but I couldn't hit the D. He thought I didn't know the interval, so he had the first chair clarinet stand up and play it for me. Twas humiliating

Braces are hard at first, then i got used to them. then the retainer. My control is completely gone if i take it out to play, but then it hurts to play higher notes...oh well...
I had my first baritone lesson a few days ago. the mouthpiece is HUGE! It felt so weird! But, my teacher is my boyfriend, so it's funny. I'm a better musician than him so I could play everything better than him once I figured out fingerings and whatnot... I will do this!

If you're getting braces, ask for a lip gaurd! it snaps on and it makes playing easier! ((Only used mine once!))

The thing about my braces, I got them on Thursday, and our band plays its first concert tonight! I get home at 5:30 tonight, and I have to be back to school by 6:30, not enough time to buy or get used to a lip guard. I was thinking about trying a Mello for the concert tonight, but then I realised, I'd have to relearn all my music to the cornet fingerings and mouthpeice. My study hall is only forty-three minutes long, not enough time to run through it all. *is going insane* I can still play all my music an octave down (my instructor lets the horn section do that for really high notes, he doesn't like it though) except Aztec Fire, where I have the counter melody. The entire time, it doesn't go lower than A! It doesn't sound right an octave down, and I feel really guilty leaving all the weight on Megan(very quiet second horn) and the Alto Saxes. *kicks orthodontist*
