((Ufufufu! Don't worry, Thats! >w> Soon there will be more than enough if I can have any say in it! >D))
"Yeah, to you obviously." Vierres said before sighing and rubbing the back of his head with a hand. True, Gil needed to be informed too.
Tintlet took a step forward and raised her hands, soft frown disappearing when she saw that it wasn't anything serious.
As the healing began, the half dragon continued speaking. "During my mission up north we discovered something... quite disturbing. One of the youkai had, miraculously, survived the battle, probably because he looked half-dead already so he must have been taken for dead." The light haired man muttered the last line before speaking up again. "And, well... when we were about to question him, he just melted, just like that. His skin started glowing and then he melted into some kind of glowing goo. It was quite nauseating. I've had the fighters check to make sure it wasn't anything contagious, I've also been in meeting with the Lord and the other two officers." The orange-eyed man concluded. If Gil wanted more details, Vierres knew he would ask for them later when they were walking from the infirmary.

Gil frowned and rubbed his arm where the cut had been bare moments before. That... sounded very unpleasant, but he couldn't remember anything like that having happened before.
"Thank you, Tintlet." Gil then turned back to Vierres, scratching lightly at his itchy scalp. Definitely a bath later, even though it wasn't something he was overly fond of. Probably not so much because of the lingering traits of his demon, but more the flashes of Ramaganas it gave him. He'd gotten him to bathe, even though when Giil had thought it unnecessary, or just plain refused.
"This... disease, hasn't happened before, has it?" Gil hesitated a moment as to what to call it, but the word slipped out easily, and that made him uncertain whether his memories were right when there was nothing to indicate anything like this afflicting the youkai community.

"No, it hasn't." Vierres shook his head while walking up to the knight. "Thank you for your assistance." He gave the faerie princess a nod over his shoulder before walking out of the infirmary, Gil in tow.
As they began walking down the corridor the Red Officer continued. "You're right. During the meeting with the Lord, the Black and Yellow Officer we put it down to being a disease. They way it looked, its final outburst before killing the victim... it's a disease alright. We just don't know if it affects only youkai. None of us touched the remains of the demon who died but we don't know how it spreads nor how contagious it is."
Vierres was quiet for a moment before finally adding one more thing. "The youkai looked like he had a high fever, like he was burnign up, and then he just melted before our eyes."

Absently fingering the handle of his whip, Gil frowned as he took it all in. A disease. At such a time like this. It didn't bode well, if at least they couldn't find out if it only affected youkai or not.
"I hope... it only affects youkai. It would make things... marginally easier for us. But it must have been unpleasant, to see that. Considering your background." Gil didn't exactly count that part of his history as important or a big influence. Except for Ramaganas... He had met him because of that, after all...
Their steps echoed down the corridor they walked down, the castle this to the infirmary rather abandoned; more by respect for any possible wounded than any real disgust or fear for death and sickness. It made this part quiet and peaceful, Gil rather liked it.

"'Something more productive'?" A voice quited him from behind, a light questioning sound on it. "You bored, I take it." Ruwalk smiled as he climbed up the last step and walked over to Thats. "You do know that if it had been Cernozura instead of me she could have named a million things for you to do..." The dragon paused only to let out a light chuckle. "Only none of them would probably appease you nor be what a knight should do." The officer smiled out over the birdview.
((OxO Kyaaa!! SONG! *loves this song* Radio: *playing music* XD;; "Do you want me to turn around and fight for the one I am? Never will I let my land down where the winds are whispering my name" I so love this one. >w>))

((^^; Sorry about the wait, Nadil.))
Thatz grinned back, glad to see the Yellow Dragon Officer. "Probably. Although I think I've done everything on her list, at least once." He shook his head, however. "I wouldn't say I'm bored, though. Restless, maybe."
He leaned on the stone barrier at the edge of the parapet, the light wind blowing back his hair. "It's stupid, but I can't seem to enjoy this break from the fighting. I keep thinking there must be something I've forgotten to do."
Earth flew over the edge, brown wings glinting in the afternoon light, as he slowly circled past the two.
"What I'd really like," Thatz admitted with an almost rueful smile, "would be to hit the road again."

((=D That's ok!))
Ruwalk listened to the other, nodding his head slightly, a small, knowing smile on his lips. Yeah, Cernozura had at times been forced to use every free hand available, especially in the beginning when there had been many hurt or down. The knights were, however, only if they had nothing else to do and she really needed an extra pair of hands.
As the Earth Knight finished, the officer smiled diminished a bit to be replaced by seriousness. "I'm sorry." He said truthfully. "I can understand that." He could only phantom how big Lykouleon's urge was to just get away from everything for a day or two, but if there was anyone who would be able to leave for at least one day the Dragon Emperor would be the last one. "But as it stands now it's impossible... not to talk about unsafe." Anyone could be attacked by a sneak attack if they strayed too far from the major roads, and even if Thats was a dragon knight he was still only one man. Whenever they were able to, Teceous would send out fighters to patrol the largest roads within the empire, but unfortunately, that wasn't as often as any of them would like.
"We can just hope for a swift end to this s**t." It wasn't often Ruwalk swore so casually, but when he did it meant something... Yes, Ruwalk was extremely tired of this war too. Anything to stop it or reduce the fighting would be welcome.

Thatz laughed, noting the curse in the other's words. "Yeah," he agreed, leaning lower on the wall half-smile still on his face as he peered over the kingdom. "Hopefully that disease will take out Nadil's forces. Did Bierrez already get word to you that neither he nor any of the Fighters were affected by it?"
His smile faltered and fell, replaced by a serious gaze.
"Do you think that was because of chance, that they somehow avoided contact with the pathogens... or do you think it only targets demons?" His green eyes sought contact with Ruwalk's brown, and he stood up when the Officer glanced away.
"Man," Thatz grinned now, trying for a slightly lighter note, though genuine relief was audiable in his voice. "Was I relieved about that. Especially for Bierrez." The Red Dragon Officer's demonic blood had made him a possible carrier for the illness. Even more chilling was the thought that, from that mixed body, the disease would have mutated and found a way to spread among the Dragon Clan as well. Much of their land was still practically under siege. If something as highly contagious as the illness seemed to be started spreading...
Thatz shivered, pushing that thought from his mind.

Ruwalk looked over at the young man then shook his head. "No, he haven't. But that's good." Ruwalk was releived about that, it would ave proved devastatingly if they had been sick. Only one dragon fighter infected would have been enough to prove that they all were in danger. Of course, just because none of them had been didn't mean it was completely safe.
What Thats said next made the Yellow Officer freeze somewhat and look away. What could he say? Having his position meant you had to count in the worst... anything could happen and if it did... Ruwalk didn't let his mind wander there.
"Yeah... We've been without our Red Officer for so long, it would be really bad if we lost him again after such a short time." Ruwalk confessed, it was true after all. But he wouldn't wish Vierres that kind of death. The dragon wasn't sure if he even wished that kind of fate on his enemies.
"But you know..." The brunette turned his eyes back onto the horizon. "It feels like this disease might just be in our advantage. Who knows, we might just already have benefitted from it." He was thinking about the lowered attacks and frenzy of the demons.

Thatz nodded, letting Earth settle on his shoulder once more. He had thought about that, that maybe the decreased number and ferocity of the attacks was due to the disease.
"It's too soon to be sure, though." He shook his head, messy hair swinging about his face. "But, jeeze, I'd like that to be the case." Crossing his arms behind his head once more, Thatz turned slowly, pacing along the parapet. "So what word? Where do you think they'll hit next?"

Ruwalk turned to look at the other for a moment. "You wouldn't feel sorry for them? Not a little even? I know Nadil and the youkai has caused us more or less nothing but misery but... to die in such a way." It hadn't sounded pretty when Vierres described it and the reality must have been even worse... He couldn't even imagine what it must have felt like.
"Next time? Oh god, if there just could be 'no next time' instead." He smiled lightly, a corner of his lips quirked at the wishful thinking. "We're not entierly sure but... Teceous is thinking somewhere towards the west, probably the western shore." He said slowly, thoughtfully.

Thatz paused in his steps, glancing back at Ruwalk. "Don't get me wrong. It's not the way I'd like to die. Hell, it's not the way I'd like anyone to die."
He let those words hang, briefly considering Nadil before pushing on.
"But it would make things so much easier," he admitted, turning and sliding his hand over his face, tipping his head towards the sky. "It would be a stroke of luck for us. I care far more for those young men recruited for our side than for Nadil's troops."
He exhaled, bringing his face back down.
"Personally," the Knight's mouth twitched up, eyebrows knitted wryly, "I'd rather that none of this had happened to begin with." Thatz walked back to where Ruwalk still stood and looked over the edge once more. "The west, huh? Along the Memphis shore? Or further south?"

((You know, I'm *sure* that Hermosa lies in the east and that I haven't got it wrong... XD;;; *used to be horrible with left and right before* Not that I'm perfect now. *still have to, sometimes, indicate with her hand before being able to say whether she means right/east or left/west* ^^;;;; ))
"Yes, it would," Ruwalk agreed, nodding. "I care about our fighters too but the way Vierres described it..." The officer paused a moment then continued, almost as if musing aloud. "He had said the skin looked like it had been near to burst open, like the blood underneath it was boiling the victim alive... And then the skin just melted away..." The dragon closed his eyes and shuddered involuntarily before shaking his head harshly and turning his gaze back to the knight.
"We're counting the attack will come from somewhere between the middle of Kuulta Bay and southward. Teceous believe that they won't try passing through Aquitania or Misty Valley but come through further south, which doesn't narrow down the area we need to have under surveillance, unfortunately," he spoke calmly, as if still trying to clear the images the earlier mentioning of the disease had brought on.
((The Faerie Forest close to Misty Valley I now dubbed Aquitania. Why? It's the only remaining Faerie Forest and there seem to have been pretty many, groves even, according to volume 4. Teceous also mentioned that he was worried about Aquitania, which must mean it had yet not been destroyed and there's only one FF left on the map so... I took some liberties.))

((No, Hermosa's the one to the East because.... ...Wait. XD That's my bad, then. I thought you were talking about the Western shore. XDDD *slightly dyslexic* I'll fix that then. ^^; Thanks.))
Thatz grimaced slightly, eyes wide. He shook his head, pushing away that thought. He wasn't eager to let it settle upon him until he could see its effects in the dark behind his closed eyes. Worse yet, have that vision be of one of the Dragon Tribe.
It deserved to be thought about but, he searched for a response to the news of the fighting, not now when it was still so fresh.
"Kuulta, huh?" Thatz frowned, furrowing his brows together at that information. "You're right. That doesn't narrow it down for us. We'd have to keep that area under close watch normally. I guess he didn't have any word on how many we could be expecting? If it's going to be anything like the last ones, the force'll be minimal. But the land there is flat for several miles before reaching the mountains, and I doubt they'll head towards the Faerie Forest for cover." He sighed, pressing a hand to his temples, the long slender scar on his face snaking out beneath it. "But if Shydeman sends a small group, he's not going to be stupid enough to stick them out in the middle of nowhere. They'll be too easily targeted and surrounded. Maybe they'll try to escape unnoticed until they reach the Demon Forest," he paused, considering. "Although that place isn't nearly as strong as it was at the start of the war."
Thatz let his hands fall to hit lightly against the stone wall.
"Or maybe it'll all just a feint."

((Yes, Kami. XD;; Hermosa IS on the east... but so is Memphis. XD;; Though Memphis is more north. Kami, I hate to break it to you, but go study the map. XD;;;;Dragoon covers ALL of the western shore. See, in Swedish right/east and left/west are really similar in spelling and pronounciation, that's how I learnt it. XD;;;; *types Swedish* Vänster and väst, höger and öst (left and west, right andf east). See? XD;;; Go look the map, darling. >_>;; I'm not THAT bad at right/left... though I was. XD;; ))
"Who knows..." Ruwalk mumbled in reply, but his voice was loud enough for Thats to hear it clearly. "All we can currently do is wait and see... and hope we don't notice it too late. We will, of course, have more guards patroling that strip of land closest to the sea," he added the last sentence in a louder voice. "So if patroling down there could suffice as at least some kind of substitutue for the road..." Ruwalk turned, grinning lightly. "Then I could always put you on that. 'Course, you might have to have a fighter or two with you," he reminded the younger man.
