How's it going?
I actually love to bake and cook. smile
Baking is most fun though. I bought some cake fondant (sugar paste stuff) and some decorating items to practice with. Also teaching myself the basics and how to make stuff like marizpan and homemade sugar paste.
Royal icing is easy to make but it doesn't taste very good.
It's hard to combine a cake that tastes amazing and looks good.... gonk

I've discovered that the fancier any particular icing is, the nastier it tastes ;___; Fondont is the most popular for wedding cakes and such as far as I can tell, but sugar paste just about sums up what it tastes like x___x For my wedding cake we went to a little Mexican bakery and got what they called a milk cake or something. It looked fine (we put fresh flowers around it instead of frosting flowers) and tasted great.
I've been meaning to practice cake decoration more ^^ I'd really like to get a job at a bakery~ And in fact... I have a job opening at a bakery just across the river that I'm thinking of applying for... *isn't sure*
I have some recepies for stuff like pulled sugar and stuff like that ^^ I don't recall if I have one for fondont or marzipan (I might, I just forget ^^; ) but if you're interested, I could go look through my books ^^

I've always wanted to know how to do cake decorating. I'm addicted to watching Food Network competitions, so that's what got me interested in cake decorating. It just looks like a great way to express yoruself. 3nodding

It's fun ^^ As is ice carving~ But if you want an actual job doing it, you have to learn how to do certain things ^^; Things that everyone wants. Thats roses and writing for cakes, and swans and baskets and eagles for ice carvings ^^

Yeah, I don't plan on doing it as a profession, just as a hobby, possibly something to do to work my way through college, if I learn it first.

I wish I was even good enough at drawing to be able to do that. All I can do are sketches by hand, -mostly fashion sketches- and my OC doodles. xD
