It's really hard to play the tuba after you've been sick for a while. I was out sick for two days and when I got back, I was all light-headed and woozy after class. x_x;
Probably because I play out more considering the rest of my section doesn't play out or doesn't play at all during important parts. ;>>

Kinmotsu Argh! My mouthpiece was stollen from my tuba's cubby hole Monday! I'm so angry! My BD checked all of the other tuba player's mouthpieces and none of them are like mine. Mine was the only newer Helleburg. Now I have to order a new one. That's about $50 less to go towards band camp.
First: Why would someone steal a used mouthpiece? Honestly!
Secondly: Why mine? Why the girl's? Hm? Biased!
But, at least I get a new shiny one. Yay shiny! I have a Helleburg!! Those are the best!! No on has stolen my tuba mouthpiece, probably casue I put it in my Susa case. The Upperclassmen tubas did take my friend's mouthpiece when he kept leaving it in concert tuba. When this happened, we all think that he stole a Junior's mouthpiece. sweatdrop He got in so much trouble.

The same thing kinda happened to me, Kinmotsu. I was sick for over five days (n___n") and when I played for the first time after that, I couldn't sustain my breathing at ALL. DD: The most I could play was like two measures on one breath. >>;
Thank God I'm better now, though.

Saito_Style how do I get better on the tromebone? Do you take privet lessons? If not, then you could always do that.

I play Sousaphone and Concert tuba. Hellebergs are the best! (I have a Conn Helleberg) And, I'm 2nd chair in my band, 1st chair is way to good for me to beat him though. I'll just have to wait until he graduates for me to be a section leader... xp

I play trombone; just started over the summer ( I was in the flute section before). It's fun because no one expects much from us, and our sectionals are in the storage room and basically mean that we eat and drink all the leftovers from the guardie shows.
*dances around everyone in the low brass thread with a pink ribbon* Lalalala.....! heart

I'm first chair in my band. I'd be in the top band (Symphonic Winds) right now but I can't... There are already FIVE tubas in that band. So, I'm stuck in the band below it and it gets pretty damn boring. ><;

You know, I really don't understand that poll. There are definitely more than 4 low brass instruments... Tuba, sousaphone, marching tuba (if all marching versions count), baritone, marching baritone, valve trombone, and slide trombone, and I'm sure I've missed at least one.
And isn't it weird how when people switch sections they're always like "low brass is so cool I'm gonna go be new there and not know my fingerings/slide positions and make them sound like crap." In our low brass section we have an ex-trumpet player for a tuba and an ex-percussionist (who happens to be my ex-boyfriend and a total jerk) for a trombone. I guess we're just that cool!
