When Marshall drew closer, Lucas tried to turn his head slightly, so the angle helped hide his injury better. He was sure that from a distance no one could see the stitching, but it still would probably raise questions that his left eye never opened. On the few occasions he'd unconciously tried to open it, he only managed to cause himself pain.
Grabbing the paddles, he slid one over to Marshall. A corner of his mouth curled into a smile. "Sure. Best out of what? Five? Ten?"

"First one to ten sounds good to me." Marshall chuckled, placing the puck down in front of his paddle. This was probably the only game in the arcade he could play, outside of Dance Dance Revolution, and he was never really fond of that game any way. He thought it made him look silly.
"So, Lucas," Marshall started, hitting the puck, "What you into?" he said, making small talk.

Sweeping his paddle across the board, he managed to knock the puck against the wall, sending it bouncing back to Marshall.
"Into? Science fiction. Fantasy. Comics. The paranormal." The last he said after a little hesitation. Was he still into it? It seemed to leave a bad taste in his mouth now. He still loved reading and investigating things, but now he could not do it in the way he wanted. It was very limiting here and it caused him frustration. It also made him think about Duvert, someone who shared that interest. And it was the very thing that got him trapped here in the first place.
"What about you?"

"Movies, Drawing, Anime...Heh heh, pretty similar stuff, actually. Weird. But y'know, I've been here for over half a year and haven't found one urban legend or any thing to work with...Though I guess being animal-people, some how the thought of the guy with the claw for a hand just doesn't have the same punch it use to?" Marshall responded, blocking the puck and sending it right back to Lucas.

"Drawing, huh? I'm a terrible artist. What kind of things did you draw?"
Lucas chuckled. "You could just make up an urban legend. See how many people buy into it." Misjudging, he pushed out his paddle to block, but he was two inches off. Pushing away the irritated feeling, he pulled the puck out and readied it. "Zero to one." He

"Cartoons and crap...If you see any fliers around the village for a Donation thing? They're mine." Marshall smirked, doing a little victory pump for making the first goal.
"Make my own urban legend, huh? Okay...Now, what would make a good urban legend around here? Possessed arcade machine that plays by itself at night? Haunted DVD that plays in loops?" Marshall chuckled.

Lucas tried not to chuckle at the penguin's amusing victory move. "Donations, huh? I haven't been out and about the Village for a while, so I'm afraid I haven't." He'd keep his eyes open next time for one.
He shrugged. "Dunno. Maybe there's a tribe of animals-turned-human on the other side of the Island that the labs don't want us to know about?"

"Heh heh...Oh, I know! Maybe like...Moreau only made the island 'cause he was a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?" Marshall said, giggling to himself, unaware of the cameras and microphones every where and only knowing the name "Moreau" from conversations with other people.
"I was actually always more of a fan of Power Rangers myself. Can't beat people in spandex fighting rubber-suited monsters." the almost 22 year old penguin man said with an odd smirk as he hit the puck back to his new orange acquaintance. It was kind of nice, having some one he could be a geek around outside of Liamh.

"Not quite an urban legend, but it's a crazy theory we can't rule out." Lucas chuckled and knocked the puck hard against the wall so it went bouncing back toward Marshall's goal.
"I watched some Power Rangers, but I was more into comic books."

"Crap!" Marshall exclaimed as the puck went flying directly into his goal. Score: 1-1.
"Comics, huh? DC, Marvel, or Indie?" Marshall asked as he sent the puck flying back. It was a good thing that Marshall was never really the competitive type.

Lucas' tail wagged at the goal. He had forgotten all about his eye and was absorbed now in the game and conversation.
"Whatever I could get my hands on, but I liked to read Marvel for characters like Spider-man and the X-Men. My dad had a collection of the old comics. I didn't have to save up to read those." He smiled. "What about you?"

"Well, I lived in So Cal before I came here, so really I could get pretty much any thing." Marshall said, slightly bragging, slightly not, "When I was younger it was all DC and junk. And Manga. Looots of Manga."

"DC, huh?" He was about to ask if he liked Batman, but bit his tongue. "I lived in Michigan. There were shops and such that carried the comics, but I didn't really get an allowance growing up and so I had to save up money with the occasional odd-jobs people would give me. Shovel snow, rake leaves, sweep, pick up trash." He shrugged.

"Heh heh...I was lucky. My mom was all about artsy stuff, so she would usually slip me a 20 when my dad wasn't looking and told me to go nuts." Marshall said, feeling rather nostalgic for the first time in a long time.
No...No. You have a new family now. Don't get all depressed again, damnit!
While Marshall was distracted, the puck when flying past him, putting Lucas in the lead.
