"Thank you." Jess said with a smile and nod as she took the cup from Gallen's hands. Not caring about sugar and cream, she drank it black, making quick work of it.
She held out the mug, studying the letters on it side. "'Disgruntled Minion,' very nice," she spoke. Being a morning person, she tended to be on her most sane and light side; night being the opposite. Yet, it was hard to tell which side she liked best of herself. Sometimes she enjoyed being crazy, oddly enough.

Gallen laughed
"Yhea, it was a gift form a friend who went to a renaissances festival. Never been to one myself, little bias since I come from Ireland and we have real castles and knights there. But the cup is hand made, and I found it funny."
Gallen sat back down watching the group, smiling. it had been a while since he had been around new faces and a long time since he had laughed this much.

"Ah. I would love to go to Ireland... It's been a dream of mine. That, and going to a tropical island somewhere far away for humanity... Yes, that would be fun. 'Cept I'd have to leave my animals." she told him with a dreamy sigh. It was obvious that she had thought of these things for a quite some time.
"Anyway, I have been to a renaissance festival. It was great fun! They had unicorns (which were actually llamas with paper hats) a jousting tourney, a dressed-up wolf man, and a troll, keeping watch over his bridge! I purchased this awesome dragon mug, hand crafted out of glass and steel. Oh, it was so beautiful." She smiled, remembering the last time she went to that place. So much fun she had! It was like the books she enjoyed reading, except maybe a little cheesier.

Gallen grinned as he listened.
"Yhea maybe we could all go to one sometime. Ireland huh, well I was young when i lived their but It was a beautiful land. Except Mum and Da where always back and forth between it and England. they taught at Oxford. But why a tropical island?"

Gallen thought for a while and then pointed to the sky through the window.
"Out there. amongst the stars. But if it had to be on earth, then It would be China"

A faint smile flickered across her face. Yes, the stars! How she had forgotten the stares! Something was out there, she could sense it; they weren't alone.
"China, eh? And interesting choice... Any reasons?" she asked, jolting herself out of her dreams; there would be plenty time to dream later. Its not like she had a life or anything to deal with.

Mu folks did a lot of research there, so it was more a second home then Ireland. Mu folks delt with myrthology and archyology. But I prefer to be in the wilderness over this cement jungel.
(OOC note: Had to change Gallen's past a bit)

"China's great!" Dai chirped as she poured the correct dosage of Typlenol into the cup. "I should know. Iwas born there." She took out a peice of beef jerky and knawed on it, in an almost rat-like manner. "'S full of coolsh shtuff t' shee..." She finished it off, blinking as the coarse meat scraped down her throat. "And it has great archiac sites. My favorite's the Great Wall, I climbed to the top when I was five... Before my stroke." She fiddled with the plastic jerky bag in her hands, suddenly feeling unconfortable. "It's too bad they took most of the parts down, it would be awesome if you could actually walk its entire length. Most tourists just go halfway, get their placard that says, 'I climbed the Wall', and leave. The real good shops are on the top. Or the top that the government allows us to climb. There were some more steps, but they were roped off. Reconstruction, I think."
Dai took out another strip of jerky and chewed on it. "But I think... I'd like to go to..." She thought hard. "I've always wanted to go to Iceland or Skandinavia or Scotland or Ireland. Something like that. I've always been facinated with Mythology, especially Norse. I think Greek comes in close second. The Celts and Northmen and stuff, ya know? Magick and strength bundled together. Unpredictable. But my mom says it's not healthy for me. I should be studying instead of reading old storybooks." She laughed, wheeling over to Howie and to the purple syrup onto the table. "You're going to have to choke this down, Howie. Holding your nose while you swallow helps, but I don't think that can battle the flavor of artificial grape. It's too disgusting."
[Really, that's how I feel IRL. Artificial flavors, especially Cherry and Grape flavors, taste nothing like cherries and grapes at all. The only good exception is strawberry and peach, but everything else like watermelon tastes wierd to me.]

Gallen watched, hiding his distaste for Dai's jerky. How anyone could eat meat still astound him.
"My parents where professors of mythology, legends, and fantasy. They did archeological digs and research to find the basis of many. They where part of the quest for Troy and the Holy Grail. Guess it was their work that made me a fan. I have a lot of great books on Celtic tales at home. I am sorry your Mum dose not approve, but it is myths and legends that shape our world and society. Take Shakespeare for instance, granted he was a play write, but half the words and sayings he came up with n his plays are now words and saying we all use every day."

Jessica sighed dreamily. She loved myths and legends and all that sort, and could only wish that she knew more about it. She really knew little about anything like that, and she hated herself for it. Time was not an issue, just getting over laziness and getting books on it. "Oh, how I would love to go around searching for things like that. Go on a real adventure; get out of this nasty town."
At the mention of Shakespeare she lit up; she knew a little more about him. "Did you know that he made up the word 'puke' and 'boredom'? I found that funny when I first found out."

Dai giggled. "Really? I didn't know that. Odd how the world is." She bit her lip at Gallen's comment. Maybe he'd taken her words the wrong way. "Well, I mean, I love mythology and stuff, but it's just that my mom doesn't like it. I read all the time, just when my mom's not around. She goes into hysterics unless I say it's for study purposes only, and I can only use that excuse every so often before she gets suspicious." She sneaked a glance at Gallen's eyes -He looked rather... Twitchy- and saw immediately that something she was doing was wrong. Every since her stroke she became very good at reading people's eyes - She had to. A person could be honey-sweet on the outside, but in their eyes, she was a repuslive freak.
Maybe he was a vegan. Dai stowed the jerky away and unwrapped a granola bar, her eyes quickly skimming the ingredients. She didn't want Gallen to feel unconfortable. "Would you guys like a bar? It's all-organic." Oats, granola, wheat... Almonds, cranberries, fructose sugar... Oh. Honey. "It has honey in it, but I think that's okay. It says it's from organic flowers or something."

"Hey, I'm not going to refuse free drugs, grape or no." Howie had been absorbed in his coffee - rending him rather quiet as he listened to everyone talk about travel. He'd taken the mug and the Vicoden with equal enthusiasm.
"I've been all around the country, pretty much. Tried to get into Mexico once, but I had a bit of trouble at the border." He shrugged. "Guess they didn't think fourteen-year-olds should be driving. And Canada, but that was too cold." He downed the Tylonol and made as worse a face as he could manage with his head hurting. "I think I was born in L.A."
He watched Dai put away the beef jerky mournfully. He loved the stuff - he ate it quite a bit because it was cheap and lasted forever. The coffee was making him feel more lucid than he had been in a while, although that might be his consussion righting itself.
Something occurred to him as he watched the others, and he managed a crooked smile that immediately made him appear a lot more pleasant. "Say, ain't we a crowd?"

Howie somehow missed her confusion in regards to his vague comment. He wasn't paying close attention to her expression and body language, and although he was a decent 'reader' of people, he had to work at it a lot more than he liked to admit. Currently, he was interpretting her mild perplexion as polite interest.
"Well, sure." He smiled at her over his mug. "I mean, it's where I grew up. But I was out on the street, even then. Probably some bum's b*****d. Whatever it was, there wasn't exactly anyone around to let me know where I'd come from, y'know?" His tone was dismissive, and it was obvious that he had gotten over any shame about his origins a long time ago. That is, if he even had any to begin with.
