An Awkward Chat Over Breakfast

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi held her hand over her mouth as she yawned, free hand used to push open the doors to the cafeteria. Her hands quickly returned to fuss over that mostly unnoticable swell of her stomach, but it seemed like it was only getting larger every day... Today, she wore a baggy sweater and one of her cute knee-length skirts, todays theme was bunnies.

Almost looking caustious, she glanced around the cafeteria, brushgin a lock of hair from her face and moving foreward to see what strange new food was on todays menu. "Omlette..." she read over the specials menu, she vaugly remembered having some of those back home. Carefully grabbing her pre-made one and nabbing herself a seat to enjoy the meal.

Her mind breifly wandered over the new people she was meeting.. feeling a bit more comfortable with the island was nice. Maybe she would get to see one of them for breakfast? Or someone new.

Alec Derring
Tired from his escapades at the beach the day before, Alec was about ready to refuel at the cafeteria for his most cherished meal of the day. He could already smell the cooked eggs before he even entered through the doors to the cafeteria, heading atraight for the food counter as if there was somesort of line up to beat. He could see the omelettes, but he wanted meat.

"Aye..." He remarked when he finally turned towards the eating area with a stackful of sausage and a lil bowl of fruit. He didn't recognize the woman sitting ther and assumed she wouldn't mind company as he sat himself down at the same table. He'd brought a fistful of napkins as well, so as to save himself from the embarassment his funny teeth often caused while attempting to eat.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi had been bussy fiddling with the somewhat messy food, apparently having trouble picking out a small bite with her fork and knife, the cheese seemed to be giving her the most problems... and in the mean time, as the cheese ran rampid a few other filligns would excape and she'd have to stuff them back in with her fork.

She almost jumped when she heard a voice, she'd been so preoccupied in her omelette fight.. "Good morning." she smiled, cheerfully, the smile only widening as she seemed to free herself a bite and eagerly stuffed it in her mouth.

Alec Derring
The teen made himself comfort as he prepared to dig into his pile of food, readying the utensils and properly positioning the plate on the table. "Top o' th'mornin teh'ye." He responded contently as well, more of a joke than a serious greeting he'd often used.

"Yanno, a' keep tellin 'em t'make mo' sausages n' th'mornin. A' 'ate eggs, they make me sick n' th'gut." He went ahead and mumbled to the stranger about his quams with the caf lady, not minding that she was unfamiliar. In a place like this, he considered everyone a friend or possibly a sibling until proven otherwise, even if he didn't know their names yet. "Unless theh scrambled o' somethin." The last comment was uttered low in mid-bite as he dug in.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi smiled anyways, missing the joke completely. She'd heard many accents growing up, many sayings.. and most of the ones she picked up were now far out dated.

She stopped fidgeting with her food as he spoke, almost getting aclueles slook as she tried to pick the words out of his different speach... It was good though, practice makes perfect right?
She caught Telling make sausages in the morning... hate.. eggs... and that they make him sick in.. something. She tried to look more interested than confused, she nodded to say she got it, a habit she'd picked up since some people would try and slow down their speach for her.

She gave a few picks at her food, starting to cut off another bite. "I do not think I've ever cooked... sausage." She had probably done something simmalar, but "sausage" in paticular didn't ring a bell.

Alec Derring
Alec watched her curiously as she calmly nodded, looking attentive to his mumblings though he was unsure if she was truly listening or not. He didn't really mind, he had an audience. "Neh?" The mohawked youngster blinked, wondering how exactly it was possible that someone on the planet hadn't made a breakfast link before. Who was he kidding, she was eating an omlette for cripe sakes.

"No' a brunch weineh? Sausage link?... 'ot dog?" Man, could he go for a hotdog right about now. Hell, he could probably make one up if he really had to though the degree of charring was obviously unpredictable. "Wha' meat d'ye eat fo' breakfast then? Ye from some..." He stopped midsentence to wave his hands in the air in some exaggerated motions. "... weird... place o' somethin?"

Natsumi Tanaka
A dog? Was that a racist joke? Her head was slowly tilting to the side as she tried to catch up --Wait. HOT dog! She immediatly perked up, as though she'd just figured out the multimillion dollar question on a game show. "Hot dog! Yes. I have not cooked one, but I have had one. Pork... yes?" She paused a moment, eyes drifitng up in a thoughtful mannor...

She seemed excited over the fact she had figured out what he was talking about. "Pork... Hm. I have made Tonkatsu, and Minudaru... Rafuti, Sooki...Kuubuirichi..." she tapped her fingers while trying to remember any more "Aa, and Deekuni." She let out a breath, smiling cheerily once more. "Most was at school, or for the shrine." With that, she took another bite, trying to drop back into a more.. submissful conversation on her part.

Alec Derring
Alec nodded, though he was a bit confused now. "Po'k? Well... ye, a' guess i's made ou' o' p-" He was silenced as Natsumi promptly went into a proud rendition of a resturaunt menu, rhyming off words or dishes or something with excitement. He stared dumbly, interested, but truly lost.

"Ye.... ye los' me at po'k, luv." The teen mumbled admittedly, stuffing a piece of cantalope in his mouth and downing it with more sausage. "Wheh did ye say ye were from?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi was left with a blank smile at.. whatever he said. The only thing she caught was love, and that didn't make any sense. They were tlaking about food, not relations... Unless he loved pork? Maybe that was it... Wait she hadn't said where she was from, had she? Once again, slightly confused, she shrugged it off "Japan." she repsonded simply, deciding again not to go into regions and countries unless they actually asked... And she didn't feel like this man would ask. She promptly took another bite, dwindling down her omelette... It was a good reason to stay quiet for a few moments though.

Alec Derring
"Ooooh..." Alec gawked at the answer that he'd finally understood clearly. "Tha' makes sense." For some reason he got the impression she was feeling a little awkward, perhaps out of her element. There was nothing he could do really, but be as polite as a rambunctious teenage male could be.

"'Am Alec by th'way."

Natsumi Tanaka
She hardly wanted anyone to be anything but themselves. She'd often start picking up the accents of thsoe she spoke with, and if they spoke too slow then she'd start to as well.
Then again, Alec's accent wouldn't be good ot pick up no matter how he said it, but she didn't think about that. She was still a teenager at heart, only worrying aobut making a good impression for the moment.

"I am Natsumi." She nodded, bowing her head some. She'd finally gotten the hang of saying her name the american way... it felt wierd, but atleast it would keep from confusion. "Where are you from?" it always seemed best to repeat questions back... good conversation for reasons no one would ever know.

Alec Derring
"Nice t'meet ye." He nodded in return to her formal introduction, taking the opportunity to slug down half of his glass of orange juice to spare him some time. "Uh... 'am from Ireland." He kept it simple as well for the sake of easy understanding. Hopefully she would have heard of the country before.

"Are ye new 'ere? Y'look changed, a' must've missed ye aroun'."

Natsumi Tanaka
"Nice to meet you." She echoed, almost feeling bad she had forgotten to say it. Not that it seemed to matter too much in english she still would feel bad not to.
Ireland? She nodded some. She'd heard of it... Some kids were talking about men in skirts... other than that she'd only heard of it during her geography classes. And he wasn't wearing a skirt... right? She hadn't quite gotten a glimpse, and she wasn't about to duck under the table just to see.

"Yes. I just arrived about a month ago. " she paused to look over the scales that were creaping out of her sweater's sleeve as though she'd forgotten about them. "Oh.. yes. A.. reptile. I'm not sure what kind yet..." Speaking of sweaters... She'd long ago noticed just how warm it was out... and how a sweater had been the most unappropriate attire for the island's climate. Still, it hid her pudge.

Alec Derring
Alec nodded, noticing Natsumi's shyness towards her outward appearance and ignoring it, making it look like his breakfast was much more important at the time. "A' know a few lizehds 'round 'ere, ye'll fit 'n." He felt obligated to attempt to sound reassuring, not that she looked like she needed it.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi blinked, somewhat taken off-guard by the comment. Fit in... She smiled some a thte idea, that'd be nice. It was, after all, every teenagers greatest ambition to 'fit in.' "Thank you." she mumbled some, placing another bite in her mouth.

Then it occured to her that she hadn't quite figured out what he was... It had almost become a hobby of hers to try and test her limited animal knowlage and pinpoint each islander's animal. It almost made the whole 'hey you're a mutant' thing enjoyable.
She tried to make it as unnoticable as possible as she tried to grab a pinpointing feature, but alas... she wasn't animal-savvy enough to pick up the subtle hints.

Alec Derring
Alec was nearly finished with cleaning his plate of all things edible, even picking at the bits of fruit that'd evaded his fork. He could feel her eyes on him somehow, scanning him over and over though he was convinced it wasn't somesort of malicious gesture of judgement. She didn't seem the type.

Despite all this, her curiousity was beginning to make him feel uncomfortable and upon attacking the last few crumbs of food, he grasped his dish as if he was about to leave. "If anehthin'," He continued with his last thought. "ye'll get boh'ed eventualleh." The teen snickered to himself and made as if he was contemplating the action of leaving now as well.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi jerked her eyes away when he spoke again, flushing some when she realized just how long she'd been staring. She only hoped he hadn't noticed, since staring was fairly rude... And it seemed to be even moreso on this island.

It took her another moment to get what he said... First sticking on anything, and then bored... It had started as the word boat in her mind, then slowly progressed into a board... and then more easily going to bored. She shook her head as soon as it clicked, "No, no... There are alot of good things here. There are fun people... I do not think I would get bored." she offered a smile, intending for him to be listed in that fun people catagory for whatever reason.

Alec Derring
He smiled at her optimism, always enjoying the moments he'd meet someone on the island who were truly happy people. "S'good." He smiled, letting his teeth show. Despite her odd references to her foreign culture and overall reserved nature, he didn't think this lady was bad at all. Even though their conversations were a little muddled, it made for plain and simple meal-talk.

"Anyways," The teen heeved himself out of his chair, now fully intent on heading back to his duplex to relax rather than retreat from Natsumi, like he'd intended before. "Imma 'ead back t'me place. Forteh-woon, in case ye eveh need anehthin! see ye 'round, aye?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi freed another bite, placing it in her mouth just before he stood. She listened, quickening her chewing so she could say goodbye when it became apparent he was getting ready to leave. Although she had no idea what this aye was... It sounded alot like the 'ne' she was familiar with... Meaning, he must have been asking for confirmation. "Yes, I am in 46." she offered with a smile, and a wave, before finishing up her own meal.

Tending to the Bruised and Broken

Alec Derring
Alec whistled cheerfully as he sauntered past the duplexes in a leisurely stroll, hands in his pockets and headphones in his ears. He figured he'd pay a certain lizard girl a visit after he and Bobby had seen her on the beach, curious as to what she was up to. He never missed a moment to try and pry the shy female from her quarters in an attempt to make her feel better about herself.

Coming up on Amaya's duplex, the grungey teen stopped at the doorway and knocked, bouncing his head to the loud music blaring through the discman.

Amaya Vaughan
It was still rather early in the evening when Amaya had passed out, and after the seizure had stopped she lay there unconscious for a few moments. The knock on the door brought her back slightly.

Even though her eyes had already been open, after she blinked them she could see again. Everything looked to different. Things were brighter. And something about how she saw things was wrong, but she was too disoriented to realize what exactly.

Where was she?

... She could smell blood. And her scent. All over the room. Someone was at the door.

But she made no move to get up. The green iguana's head turned to look towards the door... but she noticed as she faced it she couldn't see it anymore.

... What...?

Alec Derring
Alec leaned impatiently on the door as he waited for any sign of it being opened soon, now that his knock had gone unanswered. He knocked again and waited....

and again....

"'Mayaaaa." The teen called out unenthusiastically after his next knock was ignored. It hadn't occurred to him that she may not be home at the time because in the past, she'd always been there. Naive opinions convinced him she never strayed far. "Open th' door, aye?!"

Amaya Vaughan
It was Alec. She should get the door.

As she sat up the memories of moments ago flashed through her mind. ... And she realized she was staring down a green snout. Hesitantly she reached up, her large hand coming in contact with it. She could feel it... it was a part of her.

Everything went ice cold, yellow eyes snapping open. Her face... HER FACE! She scrambled back, banging her back against the wall despite how tired she was.

Alec Derring
Alec was all but oblivious to the sound of the loud thump from inside, still plugged in to his CD player. He hadn't thought to take it off yet. "'Mayaaaaa..." Came another call as he let out a long and annoyed sigh. Glancing over, he saw the window frame and shuffled over to it to peek inside.

Grey eyes scanned the room slowly until the large green mass sprawled awkwardly across Amaya's bed caught his attention. It had to be her, and she didn't seem to be moving and therefore deduced that she couldn't possibly be alright.

Eyes went wide in panic as the flustered boy quickly looked back and forth between the window and his surroundings, frozen in fear of what the staff could have done to her. It wasn't long before he was pounding loudly on the door in an attempt to rouse her from outside and although he tried to doorknob, in his jittery movements the door wouldn't budge.

What was he going to do? Call for help? He felt more like running in circles at that point. Staring at the barrier between him and the room, the teen's brow furrowed in determination. There was only one thing left to do. Grasping and turning the doorknob, he decided the thing needed a good heeve-ho. Bracing himself for impact, he drew back and tensed his muscles before ramming his shoulder as hard as he could into the door.

.... Unfortunate for him, the door had been unlocked. In his panic, he'd been unable to turn the knob far enough to elicit the desired response. The impact of his full weight on the door caused it to easily swing open and Alec soon found himself landing HARD on the floor of Amaya's duplex.

Amaya Vaughan
Meanwhile, Amaya was in a delerius panic. Her eyes were scrunched shut as she sat next to her bed, pressed against the wall. Even though she wanted to cry and scream, she couldn't. So she settled to screaming and crying in her head.

The black t-shirt she wore had been torn a lot at the neck and chest to make room for her wider girth, though still clung on by a couple strands. Her shorts had also been pushed down and to her knees now that her tail seemed to join the rest of her body.

The girl kicked and thrashed. Her tail (now as long as she was tall) whipping around the room wildly between her legs and smacking into the legs of her bed. Her large hands racked down her new snout, trying to claw it off and turn it back to normal somehow.

Alec Derring
Alec had only a few moments to be left dazed on the ground before his senses began to come back to him. With a rough shake of his head, he began lifting himself off the ground (thoroughly humiliated for what he'd just done) and looked up at the chaos that was taking hold over the room.

Amaya... -or so he thought- was in somesort of frenzy, thrashing like a beast in a fury of claws and scales. Her tail whipped at the air and hit several things- the wall, the floor, the bed- several times, every thump it made when it hit sent a jolt through his body. But unlike some rabid creature, this thrashing was entirely soundless. Was she suffocating? In pain? Psychotic? He wanted to draw near but the truth was that the scene was frightening him beyond belief. The carnage, though minimal, held his attention. Her... its? movements were wild and savage.

It was then the somehow familiar smell wafted to his sense, the metal sting that touched his tongue and made him salivate.

He refuse to give in to it. Covering his nose and mouth with his hand, his eyes began to water along with his mouth as he struggled to draw nearer. He couldn't even force himself to say something as he mutely stared, trying to seem invisible. ".... Am..." He gulped down hard, clenching his serated jaw to stifle his reaction. "Amaya?"

Amaya Vaughan
Thankfully her scales were tough, but they still didn't block everything as her claws ripped into some parts of her long snout. Shortly after she heard her name, she started to get too tired to keep up. Her raking stopped, arms falling into her lap.

Get it off... get it off...

Slowly her strange new eyes opened, spotting just the side of Alec. Her head instinctivly tilted to the side to look at him with one eye. Amaya didn't like the almost repulsed look on his face. Or that's how she interperated it.

Her mouth quivered and scrunched up in a human gesture that looked so alien on an emotionless face. The tail near him slowly withdrew, curling around her form as she turned to her side and leaned up against the wall. Her arms and legs hid her long snouth, tail curling up and around her as she tried to hide her hidious face from him.

Of all people, why Alec?

Alec Derring
He was thankful when he watched her eventually stop, the streaming cuts of self-mutilation were clearer now that her entire form wasn't some blurry frenzy of claws and tail. He would've given a sigh of relief if his throat wasn't so tight that it seemed a chore to inhale so deeply.

It seemed that Amaya's nightmare was finally complete, the surreal image of it all was almost too much to take in all at once. She didn't look anything like Amaya anymore. The youngster kneeled near the doorway of the duplex even as the silence settled once more, the door having swung itself almost completely shut with the light breeze of the jungle.

It'd seem like an eternity before Alec slowly withdrew his hand from his face, the tears streaming down his cheeks were difficult to distinguish between his watering eyes or if he was in fact crying for the poor girl. Gathering his courage though his body shook from head to toes, he managed to command his vocal cords once again only to repeat the word he's uttered before. "....Amaya?" The saliva was thick in his mouth and garbled his speech a bit, but he continued to stare at her cowering form.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya flinched as her name was called again, curling up tighter and hugging her head with with hands and between her knees. The sobs that came from her mouth were almost deathly silent if it hadn't been for the room being quiet.

She had yet to see herself, but knew it was bad.

Alec Derring
"Is me... Alec." Alec felt the need to reacert the obvious fact, just in case she was still disoriented or perhaps frightened. Even without taking into account her curled up position, it was very hard to read her expression. He had no idea what she was feeling, thinking. He did happen to notice the shudder when he spoke her name again and it almost hurt him to see it.

"Are ye.... ekay?" He tried to edge himself around so that he could see her face, still sitting a ways away from her. All the while he tried to tell himself that there was no reason to fear her, that it was still the same friend inside that alien shell. "Does i' 'urt... ?" He didn't know how else to communicate his concern.

Amaya Vaughan
The lizard sniffled, her body quivering as she gave a slow nod. Even such a small gesture sending her dizzy. She scrunched her eyes shut to try and help it go away. Her head was so heavy... and what was wrong with her neck, shoulders, and chest? Everything felt so missproportioned.

Slowly her head raised and looked over at Alec. The colours around the room made her eyes sting and her head hurt. Amaya was so tired. So achey. Her head was killing her... and she was hungry. But she didn't care. All she could think about was being scared of what she now looked like.

Her voice came out of the deformed snout, still the same but so much quieter. Only a whisper. "I can't cry anymore..."

Alec Derring
Alec didn't know how to respond to that, going silent again. He sat down in the spot he'd shuffled over to, crossing his legs. The point of her statement was lost to him. Was it important to her, the ability to cry? Why it would, was even more confusing.

"Thas ekay." He tentatively responded, choosing his words as best he could. This was finality for her, the end of the road. This thing she'd become was going to be her shell forever and if she didn't deal with that, then she'd never be able to accept herself. Alec sighed at his loss of words. He was truly horrible at this.

"is no' realleh what ye can't do anehmore Amaya..." His voice was pleading. She had to believe him, even if he couldn't put it into words.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya just put her hands over her eyes, now positioned on the sides of her head. How did they expect her to live like this? Or would they come for her after awhile and finish her off to create room for more subjects?

As far as she knew, she was the only one so far to reach the end. "I'm scared..." She admitted, her soft voice shaking.

Alec Derring
Alec shrugged his shoulders, empathising. From the way he freaked out after his first change, he'd be near-histerical if he was in her position. "'Course ye are." He offered, his voice lowering its volume subconsciously in response to her quiet tone. "Is onleh 'uman t'be. Righ'?" The punk teen paused to see if she'd agree before he realized what he'd just said. "See? 'uman. Ye still 'uman insi'. No'un c'n take tha' away from ye."

Amaya Vaughan
Yellow eyes looked at him, silently agreeing to what he said. But...

She looked over to the bathroom, knowing what she had to do. Her tail uncurled, it's lenght prooving to be a hassle she had yet to properly figure out as it's lenght stretched out even passed Alec despite him sitting feet away.

As the teen went to get up, her legs caught on something. She looked back, realizing that her shorts had been pulled down by her tail. Her body was just one long stretch now from head to tail, no signifigant apperance as to where her rear or even anything else down there had gone.

Oh god...

Amaya slid onto her stomach, holding her head in her hands again. Now she knew how Cassidy felt.

Alec Derring
Alec grimaced as she awkwardly moved, expression looking like he was in the process of trying to work out a way to help. he didn't want to reach out and grab her in case she didn't feel like moving due to the pain and due to the possibility that she was in some awkward state he should just let her work out on her own.

"Uh... C'n a 'help wi... anehthin?" He felt very out of place. He couldn't tell if she wanted him to help or leave entirely, as she hadn't given any sufficient indication yet.

Amaya Vaughan
The reptile slowly kicked off her shorts, knowing now that there was no way she could wear them anymore. She then grabbed at the bottom of her shirt with a claw and ripped it off. Now that it wasn't so tight on her, she felt like she could breath better.

She exhaled slowly and got to all fours. The movement felt so fluid it scared her. Could she even walk on two feet anymore?

Amaya was ashamed of herself, standing there looking like an overgrown iguana with only her pendant and shreds of her shirt left. Her top felt so heavy...

"... Help me stand. Please."

Alec Derring
Alec watched and waited as she seemed to struggle with herself, shredded clothing being peeled away. He would've normally felt very embarassed by the situation, but the degree of animality made him more comfortable, oddly enough.

Now that the little blood she'd caused had dried on her scaley skin, it was easier to focus on the task at hand. Nodding at her request, he got to his feet and walked over to stand at her side. He reached down to begin to help but stopped, feuding with himself on what angle or approach to take. Finally, he hesitantly reached down again and gripped her under her arms to try and help her up from behind.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya's arms felt strange, her shoulders almost non-existant now that her neck was so wide. Her top was heavier then her bottom, now larger then her hips instead of the other way around. Scaley arms stuck out to the front more then they normally would, and tucked a little as if she were unable to put them to her sides.

She seemed to lean back against him as Alec helped her up. Her legs shifted to position underneath her instead of how she had been animalistically positioned moments before. The iguana's long tail came in handy, sliding directly behind her to help keep her upright.

But after she was standing unsteadily with Alec's help, her eyes scrunched shut and a painful breath escaped her nostils. Everything was spinning.

Alec Derring
Alec was grateful when he'd managed to get her upright, still holding tight only he shifted himself to the side again so that she could lean on him like that instead. Man, she was heavy. He tried not to show it but the young teen wasn't exactly a body-builder, which didn't help his task of having to hold up a dazed and weak Amaya.

The only indicator to his struggle was an occasional grunt. "Teh th'bath?" He motioned with his head, wondering if she wanted a shower or something. He had no idea how long she'd been lying there.

Amaya Vaughan
The teen nodded, shifting slightly so that she could lean on Alec's side instead. "The mirror. I can't see in front of me." She blinked a couple of times, though felt dizzy every time her eyes opened.

Alec Derring
Alec nodded and began leading her towards the bathroom to the vanity mirror, not really caring for the reason. At that point he just wanted to be useful and help out any way he could. He hadn't noticed the new position of her eyes or how that could possibly affect her vision.

Regardless, he did his best to ease the iguana girl infront of the mirror in the bathroom as she wished.

Amaya Vaughan
Once she was in front of the mirror, Amaya grabbed the edge of the sink to keep herself steady. Even though her eyes were open, she couldn't see herself. Ever-so-slowly, she cocked her head to the side.

She couldn't believe the image of the mirror was actually her. It... it was an iguana. Not a mix of the two. Not a girl with scales. It was an iguana. The dewlap on her neck raised out and even the spikes running down her head seemed to perk at attention.

N-No... this can't be me...

Amaya's legs shook before giving way. She fell to her knees and stared straight ahead. "Can't be me..."

Alec Derring
Alec waited as she took the image in. He knew it was a definite shock, he himself could hardly believe what he was seeing. It was as if he was dreaming.

"SHITE!" He wheezed as she fell down, his attempts at keeping her up had failed. She was just too heavy. As a consequence of this, he ended up falling down as well, landing on his rump next to Amaya. "oof."

Again, he didn't know what to say. He couldn't just go into another spheal of how 'things were going to be ok' or worse yet, that 'it isn't that bad'. He wouldn't even be able to fool himself into believing that what had happened was something that could easily be dealt with. To his knowledge, this was hte worst yet. "'Am sorreh." Was all he could utter amongst another sigh.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya didn't say anything for a long time. It was such a hard thing to comprehend. But she seemed to be almost in shock. Unable to be dragged any lower then she was.

"Can you... run and get me a salad and a bottle of water? I need to see something..." Could she even eat anymore? Or go to the bathroom?

She wasn't about to go outside. Not yet.

Alec Derring
"Uh ye.... ye sure." Alec quickly got up and went to exit the bathroom until he turned and looked back down at her. She was so broken but he had no idea how to fix a damned thing.

"'s no good sittin theh." He mumbled and itched at the back of his neck. "Come n' si' on ye bed. A'll be back n' a sec." He hesitantly went off and left her there, shutting the door behind him. It was a brisk jog to the caf as he possibly ignored several people on the way there and back, balancing a salad as well as a few bottles of water under his arm.

Amaya Vaughan
The reptile watched him jog off, only taking his advice when he was gone. Slowly she got up and wiped the blood from a couple of the scratches on her face and chest. They stung, but they'd heal eventually.

She then set to finding a large white t-shirt she had lying around that would still fit her. None of her pants would anymore. And she couldn't be more grateful that her necklace still hung around her neck. It was a little tight, but not enough to strangle her.

Afterwards she went and tried to sit on her bed. Amaya moved around a lot trying to find a comfortable position. The only way she could think of was to prop her back up on the headboard and sort of stay in a half laying, half sitting position. Her tail blocked most positions she could go in now, so it flopped between her legs and went so far as to travel off her bed and onto the floor.

Alec Derring
Alec returned not long after, lettig himself in through the unlocked door. He went right over to the bed where he saw Amaya was now laying, setting down the large bowl of salad that looked as if he'd taken the entire available serving. Placing a couple of bottles of water by the bowl, he backed off and through himself tiredly into a chair, slumping his shoulders.

He had no idea what time it was, but he felt like sleeping.

Amaya Vaughan
It was rather late, and Amaya was tired too... but that was to be expected.

Her strange eyes followed Alec as he walked in and then set the food down before flopping into a chair. She felt bad for ordering him around. Her large pink tongue flickered, confirming her belifes. "It's late... you can go sleep if you want. I'm sorry for dragging you into this."

Alec Derring
"S'no problem." The teen tiredly answered as he propped up the side of his head with his palm. Although he'd been rushing around for awhile now, he hadn't felt like he was being treated like a servant until Amaya tried to tell him to leave. It wasn't that he took it as an insult, the idea of being dismissed was what irritated him. He was concerned, to him, his job wasn't finished yet until he ensured that everything was under control. Being told to leave now reminded him of mall security when he was back in Belfast.

"Am fine." He made a point to say before accidently letting a yawn escape which was soon followed by a rather abrupt and unwarranted groan. "Ahhh shite."

Amaya Vaughan
The iguana smiled, albeit it was a sad one. "You're tired. If you don't want to go to your own duplex then at least go to sleep here. I don't want to keep you up." She shifted, grabbing the salad and bottles of water to put them into her minifridge.

She didn't want to attempt eating in front of Alec.

Alec Derring
Alec shrugged. picking at the arm of the chair. "Whateveh ye want." He enphasized the 'you', as if she was the one to decide what he did. He'd been watching her the entire time and looked visibly disappointed when she put the food he'd brought into the fridge. The teen had to remind himself that she was still fragile in mind and that she needed to do things at her own pace.

After a monent of contemplation like this, he gave in and decided it was best they both got some sleep. "Aight.... ekay, a'll c'me check on ye lateh." He stood and looked as if he wasn't going to leave until he finally moved towards the door. "Ye call me if ye need anehthin?" He looked pretty serious when he said this.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded, regretting the motion as everything spun again. But she regained her composure and looked at him, head cocked slightly to the side. "I will. I promise. Thanks." She tried to offer him another smile, but it fell flat.

Then as he was about to leave, she stopped him. "Hey." She took a step foreward and fidgetted with her hands. "Uhm... I didn't take the last... change well either. Check up on me in a couple of days." After getting as depressed as she did the last time, she wasn't sure if she trusted herself again to not go so introverted it made her sick.

Alec Derring
Before Alec reached the door, he turned back and listened. The normally rambunctious and loud teen nodded quickly at her request before offering a small smirk. "T'morreh. A'll come afteh suppeh." His upper was usually very early anyways.

"Take care." With a wave he retreated outside of the room for what was guaranteed to be a trek he was grateful to be taking part of.

Checking In

Alec Derring
As Alec quickly left the caf, he realized that he probably wouldn't be able to sleep any that night if he broke his promiseto Amaya by not visiting her the day after her terrifying change. Although he'd finished eating despite the awkward crowd that had gathered, he managed to snag some food for the iguana girl. He expected her to have not moved an inch since the day before, and therefore required some more food.

Arriving at her duplex, he knocked once and waited while attempting to hold up the tray of food without lazily spilling any of it onto his shoes.

Amaya Vaughan
The entire day was spent doing nothing but trying to get up the gawl to finally eat. By lunchtime she was so hungry, Amaya didn't care anymore and succumbed to eating like the lizard she looked so much like. Though afterwards, all she could do was sob quietly and tearlessly.

The empty bowl had been then turned into a water dish, the bottles having been given to her now poured into it so the girl could lap it up. Aside from this and showering, she had done nothing all day.

When Alec knocked, Amaya had been huddled up on her bed sulking. Slowly she looked up and swayed towards the door, making sure it was him before opening it. "Hey." Despite looking so reptilian and being unable to cry, she looked worse for wear.

Alec Derring
"Aye." Alec curtly replied, assuming his thoughts were correct. She looked like she hadn't slept much and definetly not in good spirits. "'ow are ye fairin'?" He paused for a moment. It was obvious, she looked and probably felt horrible. "... A' brough' ye some food?" He proudly held up a tray with a neat plate of a burger and fries. The youngster didn't know enough that iguanas usually ate primarily vegetation, but the thought was there.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya forced a smile and stepped aside to allow him in. "Best as to be expected..." She then cocked her head, tongue flickering at the food brought to her. She knew she couldn't eat it, but took it in thanks anyway. "Thanks."

Alec Derring
"Did ye eat ye greens?" He referred to the salad he'd brought the day before as he entered, fussing about the room like a crazed mother hen as he looked for a proper place to set down the tray. If only he put that much effort into his own lifestyle, perhaps he'd be more presentable half the time.

Suddenly turning around to face her, he decided to address the issue that had been burning in his mind all day. ""ave ye gone ou'?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Yes..." Amaya gestured her snout towards the empty bowl, now filled with water. She closed the door, turning around and blinking as he faced directly at her. She was begining to feel like their roles had turned in some odd way.

"N-No... I haven't..." Her scales were already begining to look dull since her heating light had been off... the brightness hurt her eyes and the room was only lit with lamps.

Alec Derring
Alec frowned but didn't say anything more on the topic. It wasn't his place to pester and try to convince Amaya that it would be better if she took the time to go outside into the sun. Being couped up in her duplex was unheathly, but she knew that already. She was a smart girl.

Instead, he wandered over to a spare chair and made himself comfortable by sitting down. The burger was probably cold by now and he stared at it from across the way, since he'd set it onto her bed. With a long pause between the two, he decided to try and lighten the subject. "Ye missed th'big dinneh crowd." The teen smirked disdainfully, though one couldn't tell it was an unhappy expression at all. "Nita, Jo'... Chana... " He forced himself to the remember the names, recounting them with little enthusiasm. "... n' Mawlow."

Amaya Vaughan
The green iguana watched him silently before making her way to the bed, getting in the same awkward sitting/laying postion she had figured out. "I only know Nita and Chana..." She admitted, not knowing that "Jo" was actually Joliette. "And... Chana and I arn't on good terms." She frowned.

Alec Derring
"Realleh?" Alec's brow quirked at the statement, at the same time grateful that she'd taken the bait on his topic change. "She lef' earleh, so a' din't ge' much ou'a 'er..." The teen crossed a leg and leaned back in his chair until he was balancing on two legs, rocking forwards and back. "No' tha'... we all talked much." He smirked, remembering how awkward that meeting had been.

"Mawlow's n' a wheelcheh yanno?" The teen sighed heavily, choosing to remark on the one predominant thing he'd learned in that entire ordeal. "'ow crazeh 's tha'..." He sounded so tired, more mentally than anything.

Amaya Vaughan
"I suppose that's a good thing. Last time I saw her it was a long time ago..." Amaya frowned, her next statement catching in her throat. Alec didn't need to know that the woman had laughed at her. It was one of the many things she remembers distinctly, and those things always seemed to involve her appearance. What would people think of her now? She sighed through her nose, physically deflating.

"Wheelchair...? Well... can't say it surprises me." Maybe they were trying to "help" him regain the function in his legs. Yeah right. More like destroying everything else on him while giving that one thing back.

Brown and yellow eyes traveled up to him, her head cocking to the side and her tongue flickering. "You look tired again... am..." She looked away, trying to forumulate her words. "... I keeping you awake or anything?"

Alec Derring
Alec tried to straighten his position in his chair but only managed to slump back down into the seat. He hadn't cared what he looked like until he realized that his fatigue might upset her and not wanting to tack on extra guilt onto the already fragile girl, he tried to look more lively. "No." He responded sternly, shifting in his seat. The hamburger was staring at him.

"I' suhrpised me a lil." He admitted, continuing the conversation. "A' though' th'Doc woul' a' least leave 'em alone." The teen shrugged it off, not really caring what had gone on between the doctor and Marlow. The end result turned out to be the same.

Amaya Vaughan
The teen shook her head, then looked at the burger as well. Maybe it had lettuce or a tomato on it. She poked at it with a claw and brought it closer. Flipping the bun off her head tilted at the veggitation on top and her tongue flickered.

She was really hungry but... she wasn't sure if she could handle eating in front of Alec. Amaya didn't want him to see much of an animal she was now... apperances aside.

Alec Derring
He blinked and watched her movements, how her claw dexterously moved in such a simple gesture. She was picking at the burger. Maybe she didn't like what he'd brought?

"Ye w'nted pehckles?" Alec asked, sounding a bit ansy. Great. Brought her food to cheer her up and forgot the damn pickles.

Amaya Vaughan
As Amaya was contemplating her digestive future, she was caught rather offguard by the punkster's question. She blinked, a non-existant brow raising at him as she just... stared.

Then her chest started to shake, her eyes closing as she raised her hand to her snout in silent laughter. Why was that so FUNNY?! Gradually, her laughter grew to a sort of hissing chortle. PEHCKLES! Oh my god.

Alec Derring
Alec stared blanky back at Amaya as her shoulders began to shake. It didn't help when she started making these odd noises which confused him even more to their purpose or meaning. After a moment of staring he noticed she was laughing. Laughing? Had he ever even seen her laugh before? As if it was some contagious disease, the punk teen joined in the laughter.

This went on for a moment more until he remembered he had no idea what was so funny. "A' d'n ge' i'." He flatly stated, still trying to stifle a few snorts.

Amaya Vaughan
Gradually, the lizard stifled her laughter enough to spit out an answer to Alec's statment. "Y-You said... pehckles. I'm sorry. It just sounded so funny." She laughed again, rubbing at her eyes with her palms. Though her laugh was still oddly silent along with her voice, like she couldn't speak any louder then a whisper.

Alec Derring
Alec still didn't really understand what she was finding so amusing, wondering if pickles themselves were some humorous sort of food where Amaya came from. "Oh." He scratched the back of his neck and smiled, letting the joke pass by him.

Pointing to the burger, he finally gave in to his ever-hungry stomach. "Ye gonneh eat tha'?" He laughed a little, glad that he had elicited such a response from Amaya even if he didn't understand waht he'd done.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded, half smiling. "I can only eat vegtables and fruits anyway." Removing the lettuce and tomato she put the bun back on and handed it out towards Alec. Laughing had made her thirsty, so after he had taken the burger and twisted around and little and grabbed the bowl full of water.

For a moment she hesitated, but eventually closed her eyes and lapped some of it up. She didn't want to see his reaction.

Alec Derring
Alec leaned far over to reach for the burger just as Amaya clued him into the fact that she had to eat vegetables. He stopped mid-motion when he heard this and looked up at her in a moment of embarssment before shaking his head with a laugh. Leave it to him to offer meat to a vegetarian.

After receiving the food, he quickly took a large bite as if he hadn't eaten less than an hour ago. As he munched away, he could hear Amaya lapping at the bowl of water she'd produced much like a dog would but had no reaction. In fact, he wasn't surprised at all. From what he'd seen of her the other day, she would have to start acting more like an iguana now more than ever. It was only natural.

Amaya Vaughan
Though of course it looked natural, to Amaya it still felt like she was some beast even though she retained her human logic and emotions... and even the abilitiy to talk. Barely. As the punkster ate, she did too. The lettuce and tomato were put on her plate as she had to tilt her head sideways and grab the bits of food with the side of her mouth.

Moving around with her jaws and tongue, the girl had to sort of tear it with her sharp teeth before swallowing. Her head seemed very animated given such a simple motion as eating.

Alec Derring
"Now ye eat as weh'd as a' do." Alec snickered, making light of Amaya's situation. It was true that even though he'd had some time to adjust to his changes, he still had trouble chewing most of the time. His sharp teeth definetly weren't made to gnaw on things for very long.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya gave a weak smile. "I suppose so."

She was silent a moment, waiting for her friend to finish eating. She had to talk to someone, anyone, about a couple of things. "I've... noticed that I can't really talk loud anymore. And things look really... weird. Which is why my lights are off, save for the lamps." She looked around to emphasise her unseen point.

Alec Derring
Alec wiped his mouth with his hand and went back to teetering on the two legs of his chair as he listened, stretching out his arms. "Ye neveh talked loud t'begin wi'." He chuffed in weak humor but let her continue. "Like... th'lights 'urt ye eyes?" He didn't really know what she meant and required ellaboration. He knew her eyes looked different compared to before but the changes that were visible were obviously not telling the whole story.

Amaya Vaughan
Another sad smile. "I was a lot louder before you managed to wind up here. You first saw me after the worst had happened. I used to be a lot more cheerful and happy, but..." She scratched under her chin. "Not so much anymore. After I changed the third time things just went downhill from there." She looked away, trying to shake off from being so negative.

"Anyway, yeah. I'm just not used to how things look now. Everything is a lot brighter. Even you." Amaya gestured with her snout. "I'm not sure if I can explain it but... I guess the only way to compare it to anything would be like wearing those 3D glasses." Her tongue flickered and her tail shifted a little, so long that it now cascaded off the end of her bed and onto the floor.

Alec Derring
Alec listened in mute attentiveness, picking at the arm of his chair again once and awhile. "Trippeh." Was all he could comment after Amaya had finished, wrinkling his flattened nose in response to another one of Amaya's depressing tales. Although he didn't really know what 'glasses' she was referring to, the idea that he was possibly now even more technicoloured in Amaya's eyes amused him greatly. "A'm sure i' 'as its good parts, 'avin' a look at th'world like tha'."

Amaya Vaughan
"Hopefully..." Amaya trailed off, scratching at the cuts over her face and chest idly. She hadn't put anything on them and now they were itchy."I... uh..." Her tongue flickered again. "I hate asking so much from you but tomorrow I want to try and go outside... do you think... you could stay with me for a little bit?" Yellow eyes looked down, ashamed. "I just... don't want to be alone when I finally run into someone else. I don't know how they'll react..."

Alec Derring
By that time, Alec was used to the requests. Such a drastic and sudden change would only mean an added weakness to a person like Amaya, where the pain was eventually all in the head long after the changes had actually happened. The teen nodded but said nothing. He didn't feel like being someone's crutch as he wasn't used to being depended upon, but he wasn't the type to just say no. The fact that she was finally thinking about going outside was enough of a reward for him, so that was all he'd be concerned about for now.

"Ye w'nt me t'stay oveh o' somethin?"

Amaya Vaughan
The reptile opened and closed her mouth, the feeling of using him never leaving her and always growing with every little request she made. But without Alec, she knew she couldn't get through this on her own. She would be there for him every time he changed... it was the least she could do.

"Up to you, really..." She shrugged her small shoulders and looked back at him.

Alec Derring
The punk kid sighed, expecting a similar response from Amaya and receiving it as planned. The last few days had left him drained in all ways possible and truthfully, he was just plain tired.

"Breakf'st n' th'morn." He mumbled after inhaling sharply in a pensive gesture. He couldn't leave it at that though, and ended up pointing accusing at the iguana girl. "Though a' c'nt say a'll be up 'n th'morn... a'm no' a mornin' guy."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya smiled at him, her new mouth still fully able to curl up into a grin. "Whenever is fine with me." She would never be able to thank the punkster enough for how much she appriciated his actions. Taking time of his life to cater to her. "Well, I shouldn't keep you up."

Shifting her weight a little she rolled onto her stomach and crawled onto the floor on all fours. After making sure her tail was all behind her to give her enough balance to stand, she did so and walked over to the door. It was strange how much she had to prepare just to do such a simple motion. "I'm sorry that I've been making you come by so much... but I really appriciate it. Honestly." Yellow eyes looked over at him. "I can't thank you enough."

Alec Derring
Alec walked over to the door in preparation to leave. Turning, he watched the lizard girl crawl off her bed in such a fashion that surprised him with the amount of fluidity and ease that was demonstrated. No matter how often he'd seen her new form, she still looked so alien in her movements and maneurisms.

At her words of thanks, the punk teen began to feel a little self-conscious and heatedly embarassed. "Ahh.... s'no problem." He smiled a bit and looked away to the floor, although somehow her long tail managed to worm its way into his field of view. His nervous habit of scratching at the back of his neck came into play.

It didn't help that she smelled like a pet store now.

"A'll see ye on th'morrow then!" He chattered quickly, giving a awkward grin.

Amaya Vaughan
The girl stopped once she noticed his nervousness, her tongue flickering and confirming what she felt. Her smile faded and she stayed a couple of feet away. "Yeah, see ya tomorrow." She forced a smile.

The awkwardness never subsided as the teen left the duplex, finally heading back to his own. With all the stress and strain and depressing auras, he was just about desperate for relief.

He'd spend the night playing his drums... quietly, for once.

Skipping Rocks By the Lake

Alec Derring
With all the stress of the past couple of days with Amaya's ordeal and his own personal strife, Alec felt the need to retrea to an area that offered a quiet sense of safety. Following along the river towards the lake, the punk teen didn't notice the quiet voices conversing amongst each other until he spotted the small forms by the water.

Although they were facing away from him, he recognized the distinct form of Awen's unique features next to a much smaller figure. "Aye, 'ow's th'wateh?" Deciding not to risk the chance of startling either of them, he called out the short greeting.

Awen Zyn
"Half decent actually!" She turned her head quickly to Alec with a big grin. "You should take a dip."

Leaning close to Cody once more she winked. "And remember that little bit of information is our secret okay kid?" She slowly stood from the water and started towards shore.

"Actually though I was just heading home. Got a new book to read and some food to go eat and such... but hye you boys should have fun. Have you met before?" She shook her head in the air. "Well never mind. Cody, this is my friend Alec, Alec this is Cody. Well you're met, and I'm gone."

The manta gave them each a wave before heading off towards the duplexes. She paused for a second and placed a hand on Alec's shoulder. "By the way, you owe me a game of poker. We gotta get on that sometime soon, eh?" She gave him a grin before scuffling off.

Cody Archer
Cody looked at Awen's quick farewell, shifting his attention to the newcomer. In the end he didn't managed to reply to her

He turned to the guy named Alec, feeling a bit shy in addressing him. The weird bicolored hair got his attention more than any of his changes, strange enough

"H-hi"

Alec Derring
Alec smirked, waving back to Awen as she made her way back to the duplexes. "Ay, ye bet we will. We go'a finish tha' game!" Still with a smile on his face, the teen turned back and finished traversing the distance to where Cody was now left alone. "Aye kid. 'ow are ye?" His studded brow almost furrowed at the sight of the small child, wondering how on earth he ended up on in a place like this though he tried his best not to show the expression.

Cody Archer
"Fine..."

He really didn't know what to say to Alec. Right now his mind was filled with his mother's advices about punks and other weird people

Alec Derring
Alec took Cody's shyness in stride. Kids were always quiet around strangers, after being left alone in the wilderness with one, he figured the instinct would be worse. He was also used to the reaction towards his choice of ... stylish appearance, so it would only be natural for the kid to be nervous.

The teen smirked still as he circled past the young one, spotting a downed tree and balancing across it for fun with one sure foot infront of the other. "Ye new 'ere? 'ou's ye mum?" Perhaps the child was an offspring of a lucky islander who somehow was able to bring their family along. Or maybe a staff member's who was given free-reign to wander the edges of the island.

Cody Archer
Cody looked at Alec balancing for a bit, before gathering enough courage to fight his hyness and reply

"She's back at home. I came alone" his voice trembled as the hauting feeling came once more. But he tried hard to hold back the tears, though he wasn't completely sucessful. A couple of them rolled down his cheek

Alec Derring
Alec listened to the child's quiet reply, continuing his task on the makeshift balance beam as if it meant more than anything at the moment. He couldn't help but glance over his shoulder to look at him, the light glistening off of the newly shed tears as they streamed down his face. Something inside of the teen wrenched at the sight, a child torn from his family. Now he'd truly seen it all.

"Ma Pop was a bastehd yanno," He paused shortly, uncaring what sort of language he used infront of Cody. "bu' a sometimes wish a' coul've taken 'im wi' me too." He scoffed with a hard smile, trying his best to offer a touch of manly support. Being in that place so long, he'd realized he wasn't the best in the comforting department.

Cody Archer
"I liked my parents. Even if mom kept me taking all those medications and do treatments and stuff. And my dad yelling at me sometiems. I love them"

Cody sat on the ground, trying to clean away the tears on his arm, but they kept coming as more memories kept flowing
He didn't like to face the fact he wasn't going to see them again. Lately he had been trying to believe he was going to see them in the end. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. IT was just too much for a 10 year old kid, to face the reality

Alec Derring
Alec quickly realized that his cool attitude towards the issue at hand wasn't going to work. This wasn't some new guy he'd eventually convince to just 'get over it', this was different. Frankly, Alec was at a loss as he listened to the young boy cry.

Turning to slowly walk back across the log, he came to stand next to Cody but made no other motion. He knew the kid wasn't comfortable around him yet , and neither was he, really. "'A c'nt say 'am sorreh cuz... a' din't bring ye 'ere. Bu' a know ye'll be alrigh'." He fell silent and decided to face the lake and take in the scenery. That place was still serene and calming as ever.

Cody Archer
Cody sniffed and rubbed the tears away again. He looked at Alec again, observing him

"What are you turning into?"

Alec Derring
Alec blinked, though agreed silently that they should move on. He'd initially brought up the distressing topic, so it was only fair that the spotlight be turned to him.

"A' d'neh realleh." The teen shrugged, scuffing his boots through the pebbles that lined the lake before taking a seat on a large, mossy rock. "Somethin' t'do wi' a' shawk." It sort of surprised him that Cody knew about the 'changes' already, given the way he was acting he assumed he was rather new. Then again, it was only inevitable. He was also getting bored of giving the same uncertain answer over and over concerning his changes. Maybe it was time to talk to the staff...

"Do... ye know?"

Cody Archer
"Shark?" he didn't really look like a shark, but then again maybe it was too soon to tell

"You mean me? Dolphin"

Alec Derring
Alec nodded and kicked at a particularly large pebble tha twas embedded in the mud near the water's edge. Upon hearing Cody's retort, he looked at him funny as he was thinking much the same thoughts by coincidence. "Dol'fin? Ye don' look like a dol'fin." What he meant to say, was that he didn't look like the type to be turning into a dolphin. But who was he to judge?

"A' c'n onleh guess anehways." He mumbled in addition to his answer. "No' like 'am itchin t'know. Yanno?"

Cody Archer
"I asked Aubrey. Unless she's lying that's what I'm going to turn into"

Cody started to wonder if that was really going to be his animal. They had lied to others about coming here. Maybe... no, it was better not to even think about it. She seemed perfectly honest about it over the intercom

Alec Derring
He accepted the answer and made no comment about speculating on his chosen creature, not wanting to belittle Cody into thinking he didn't believe him. "Ye, a' was tol' a' shoul' ask." He continued with his previous line of thinking, not giving much further thought into the kid's outcome. Instead, he figured he'd get another opinion on the matter. The kid did seem smart after all. "Wha d'ye think?"

As grey eyes trailed off to the lake again, he spotted a dry pebble near his foot that seemed to shimmer in the natural light. Leaning over to pick it up, he tossed it up in the air and caught it a few times before tentatively -almost shyly- asking a question. "Ye skip rocks?"

Cody Archer
Cody pondered a bit on the question "You should. It's going to happen anyway. The changes"

He looked at the pebble Alec kept tossing. It was nice the way the sun shined on it when it wasn't shadowled by the foliage

"Yeah. I'm not very good though"

Alec Derring
Alec tilted his head to the side, accepting the opinion at face value. "A' migh'."

Stopping his motion, he held the pebble between his fingers and motioned towards the lake with a mischevious smirk. "A' c'mon. Theh's no real righ' o' wrong way t'skip a rock." The teen snickered and got up from his seat. Well, there was the type of bad throw that just dunked the pebble into a loud 'plop' into the water, but that wasn't the point. Turning to the side, he flung the rock with a twist of his wrist, watching as it skipped 1, 2, 3 times across the water's surface before disappearing into the lake.

Quickly stooping down, he tossed another pebble to Cody. "Ye turn."

Cody Archer
Cody got up as well, cleaning his shorts from the fallen foliage and other small debry the jungle produced. Then he grabbed a pebble and went ver Alec to do his throw

Maybe the pebble wasn't flat enough, or was too heavy, or even the throw was a sloppy one, but instead of flipping over the water surface it just sunk like the rock it was

"Ah darn!" he kicked the water in annoyance

Alec Derring
Alec wasn't about to ciritcize the youngster on his technique as to not make him feel inferior, but as he stooped to grab two more pebbles he couldn't help but feel an obligation. "Don' throw down, ye go'a throw i' si'ways. Fla' like th'wateh." For lack of better words to explain, the punk teen made the throwing motion once more with a shrill whistle as a sound effect.

Handing the boy another good stone, he waited for a second attempt. A kid who didn't skip rocks really wasn't a kid at all, in his mind.

Cody Archer
"Ok..."

Cody grabed the pebble and tried to mimic the movement Alec just showed him. It was far from perfect but it skiped once before sinking

"It worked!" he smiled

Alec Derring
Alec nodded in approval, stepping away from the water to sit back down on a stump. "Theh, see? Fair play." He couldn't help but make a half-smile at Cody's reaction, pleased that his poor attempt at teaching hadn't turned out half bad.

Glancing down at the water, he remembered he had intended to swim for bit before realizing he had company. It was too bad that the sun wasn't as strong anymore so the water would most likely be too cold for his liking.

Cody Archer
Cody kept skipping rocks a couple of more times, even getting 4 jumps once

"Don't you want to play more?"

He was starting to warm up in relation to Alec. He wasn't like the ones his parents had describe him, to keep him from picking up bad habits and have unwanted friendships

Alec Derring
Now that he'd successfully taught Cody the technique, he had figured he would just sit out and watch. He hadn't skipped rocks in years. The action only reminded him of the small creek near his cottage house, of back home.

Then again, he was never one to sulk about something for long. Ever since his mini breakdown he'd been feeling quite numb about the subject of 'home'. So Alec shrugged and stood back up, resuming the acivity. Once and awhile he'd lazily lob a few pebble intentionally so he wouldn't seem like he was trying to show him up. "D'ye live wi' anehone?" He asked out of the blue, the image of a lonely child in a stark empty duplex disturbed him a bit deep down inside.

Cody Archer
Cody tried the best he could to do another 4 skips but it was proving to be harder and harder. His MS was stricking again, leaving his fingers numb. Still he tried to ignore it and toss another pebble, but he barely could even grab it

"I'm in room 51. Newt lives above me and Nathan next door"

Alec Derring
Alec didn't really notice the pebble slip awkwardly out of Cody's hands, attributing it to childish clumsiness more than anything. He did however, recognize one name that was mentioned and nodded as he listened. "Nath'n, ah see. Well thas good." Fifty-one was a little far from fourty-one, but being on the same island ensured that he'd probably see the kid around in the future without even trying.

Cody Archer
Cody couldn't keep a grasp on the pebbles anymore now. So he just let them fall, since he couldn't move his fingers with enough precision while the numbness lasted
Instead he just sat on the log, rubbing the hands to stimulate the bloodflow

"Where do you live?"

Alec Derring
"Forteh-one" Alec answered matter-of-factly, leaning back to stretch his arms. The woody bits on his joints were feeling a little stiff, so the teen leaned over and scooped some water into his palm to wet his elbows a bit. "Righ' below Nita. Near Kav', y'know 'em?"

Cody Archer
"I met Nita. She's really nice. But who's Kav?"

Only now Cody noticed Alec's dual texture, when he rubbed the elbows

"Is that... wood???"

Alec Derring
"Kav's a girleh next door, she's go'a big long neck n' stoof." Alec was about to ellaborate on Kaveri's outstanding features from what he remembered of their last meeting, when Cody interrupted with a sudden outburst about his odd 'skin'

"A' d'neh." He mumbled and shook his head, rubbing at one of his elbows like the material was just beginning to bother him at that time. "A' go' i' on me knees too..." The teen shrugged it off, trying to seem layed-back as usual. "Prob'leh joost some si' effect, o' somethin."

Cody Archer
"Still it looks weird...." A woody shark. Now that was unusual

"Maybe you should ask them if it's really alright. Maybe they give you a bad mix and can fix it!"

Alec Derring
Great. Not only were people like Nita passively convincing him day-by-day to gather the guts to talk to the staff, now he had a little kid scaring the crap out of him for the same cause. "Ye, a' guess ye righ'." He mumbled a little incoherently, scratching at the back of his neck in a nervous habit. It was getting late.

"Wan' me t'walk ye back?"

Cody Archer
"Ok. I can't grab he handles of my bike with my hands numb"

Alec Derring
Alec snickered, getting up from his spot to wait for Cody to follow. The air was growing cool and by the way he was acting, he guessed the temperaure was getting to the much-smaller youngster. He'd realize later that the trek to Cody's duplex was actually out of his way but he didn't really mind. What else did he have to do in the meantime?

Adjusting

Cody Archer
It ache. Everything ache. Even the unchanged areas ache! But walking ache the most

The recent changes had been a pain to Cody. Not only he had to deal with the pain, but his newest member was making his life a lot harder, specially in the clothing department
It pulled down every single pair of shorts he had, which really made walking difficult (not to mention showing his rear). He had tried to rip a whole in one of the pairs, but then he had no way to keep them from falling down his legs
So for now he settled in using a normal pair tied as firly as possible and tying one of his sweaters around his waist, letting it fall down over the tail

As for his feet he settled in walking barefoot for now. It wasn't pleasent but he was too hungry to think on a proper solution

As he reached the buffet the first thing his brain screamed for was for fish. Not vegetables, not pasta, just fish. And maybe some squid too

Amaya Vaughan
As promised, Alec had come by her duplex and dragged her outside to the cafeteria for lunch. At first she had a rather hard time getting out the door, the sun being horribly painful to her new eyes but at the same time being extremely refreshing on her scales. Walking was also a little problem now that she couldn't see in front of her, but after a few stumbles and with the punksters help to make sure she didn't run into anything, she got there.

And Cody wasn't the only one with wardrobe issues. Amaya only had one thing that fit her now, an over-sized white t-shirt that only came slightly passed her neather-regions. But when you had nothing down there to show save for a tail as long as yourself, it wasn't as bad... though drafty... and embarassing.

The green iguana's tongue flickered and her head cocked to the side as they approached the cafeteria. "Anyone inside...?"

Alec Derring
Alec walked along with the unsteady and unsure Amaya, making sure she was ok most of the way as they travelled to the cafeteria. Although he hoped they wouldn't run into anyone while on their outing, a small part of him hoped they would just so that Amaya would be forced into a situation where hopefully she'd end up feeling more comfortable about herself.

As they reached the caf, the punk teen took it upon himself to go first. Sticking his head into the cafeteria, he gave a look around once. "'ELLO, anehone n'- ... Oh, is joost Codeh, c'mon." Without giving the iguana a chance to flee, he ushered her inside and let the door shut behind him.

As they moved towards the buffet, he couldn't help but notice the... protrusion in Cody's backend. Giving him an odd look from behind, the teen approached the boy but kept a few feet to his side just in case. "Aye Codeh... whassat?"

Cody Archer
Cody hadn't noticed their approached until they were pratically next to him. His brain was still exausted from the changes, only processing at half speed

"Oh! Hi Alec, hi Amaya" he looked at them for a second, but not really paying much attention to the iguana's latest changes. Right now he was only focused in getting some food to appease his demanding stomach

"My new tail...." he blushed a bit in embarassement, not for having a tail, but for the way he was walking around with it. He seriously hoped they wouldn't notice his butt under the sweater

Amaya Vaughan
Codywhat? Though before she could say anything in protest, she was practically shoved into the cafeteria and the doors were closed behind her. Thankfully her tail recoiled, curling upwards and into the air before the doors could shut onto it.

Silently she watched the two interact, raising a brow at Alec's ever-so-tactful way of pointing out the little one's changes. Poor kid. She walked over to them, tail dragging along the floor behind her. "Hi Cody... are you feeling okay?" She knew how painful growing a tail was.

Alec Derring
"Ohhh..." Alec let out in a sigh at the child's answer, seeing the obvious embarassment. Apparently the child's fears of changing had occurred sooner than either of them had expected though he didn't look too upset about it. He also hadn't given Amaya any weird but unintentional looks yet. Maybe this meeting would turn out alright afterall.

He fell silent as Amaya asked the same question he was about to, diverting his attention to grabbing a plate and moving down the line towards the meatloaf.

Cody Archer
"It hurts everytime I walk. But it hurted a lot more when it started growing" he didn't mention anything about the feet or the ears yet. The tail had been by far the most painful

Cody filled his plate a bit more with some clambs. It barely had anything else that wasn't seafood

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, they always do. The soreness will wear off eventually though." Amaya reached up and ruffled his blonde hair gently with a large scaley hand. The fact that he hadn't even given two glances at her deformed face helped more then she could put into words.

She then gathered herself up a salad, a bottle of water, and an extra bowl to drink out of. "Watch out when you sit down too, that got me the first time. You might have to sit on your chair backwards." Ugh, she felt like some vetran now. Though at least she could help others through their changes now that her's was over and done with... hopefully.

Alec Derring
As he topped the few chunks of the ground meat mush with a mountain of mashed potatoes, he watched the two interact out of his peripheral vision. He couldn't really add anything that was sufficient enough to provide comfort. At this point, Amaya was probably the best person for the kid to talk to, seeing as she had practically been through the ringer and come out alive.

Grabbing a bottle of water as well, he turned and looked for a table for the three of them. As he passed by, he also offered a gesture by patting Cody's back though he still remained silent.

Cody Archer
Cody tried to unruffle his hair, but he nearly let his tray fall in process

"Ok, I'll do that"

He followed Alec to the table and tried sitting as Amaya had told him. It wasn't easy though because his whole butt ache. The only nearly confortable position he found was by sitting very near the edge, so the tail bended the least possible

Once settle he started to dug in the food, like he hadn't ate in weeks

Amaya Vaughan
The girl nodded and followed after them, spinning her chair around and sitting on it backwards. Her long tail stretched out behind her, almost reaching a whole different table with how long it was. "Are both of you becoming sharks then?" She asked, her voice still abnormally quiet.

She poured the bottle of water into the extra bowl, placing the empty container to the side before lapping it up with her large pink tongue like a dog. Even though she was still uncomfortable with it... what could she possibly do?

Alec Derring
Alec was pleased to see that Amaya was finally giving in and changing her methods to better fit her lifestyle. He couldn't really imagine anyone really making fun of her for acting like an iguana... she practically WAS one. Were there people that cruel in this place?

As he grabbed his fork to begin eating, he stopped to answer her question in a mid-bite motion. "Neh. Codeh's g'nneh be a dol'fin, ay?" He casually gestured his head to the boy, going ahead and eating his first bit of food. "E's no' go' me big teef." He snickered with a full mouth.

Cody Archer
"What Alec said"

For a moment Cody felt like getting up and show the shape of his tail. He had seen an image in one of those dolphin books comparing fish and water mammals tails. But he decided against it, not feeling like having the trouble of finding a good sitting position all over again

He notice Amaya's odd water drinking style. Seemed weird looking at a lizard drinking like a dog. But he din't knew how reptiles drank water anyway
And at Alec's mention of his own teeth he raised his head from his plate and stoped eating. He hadn't notice anything weird with the teeth when he met him. Were they really shark shaped?

Amaya Vaughan
After she had drank a little, Amaya flickered her tongue and cocked her head to the side so she could see both of them through one eye. "Dolphin? That's not that bad... dolphins seem like pretty happy-go-lucky animals."

Alec Derring
Alec snickered more at Amaya's description of the marine mammals, though it was no surprise that he knew very little about them himself. "Like Flippeh." He tried not to grin, but a secret of his was that he really liked that childhood movie.

Noticing Cody's abrupt change in expression, the punkster stopped in an awkward half-bite again and looked over at the small boy. "... Wuh?"

Cody Archer
"Dolphins are cool. But I don't like having to hurt that much to become one..."

Only then he noticed he was staring at Alec, when he gazed back at him

"Sorry!"

He tried to get back to his meal and pretend that didn't happened

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya blinked, biting some lettuce from her bowl and moving it around in her mouth before swallowing it. She looked back and forth between the two before giving a small smile and gesturing towards Alec with her snout. "Show him your teeth." Shark teeth were cool for little boys, right?

Alec Derring
Alec looked at Amaya, then back at Cody before beginning a chorus of incoherent mutterings under his breath. Always his teeth. Why couldn't people just look past the fact that he looked like a walking can opener or something? Still, he figured it couldn't hurt. Not like the kid would freak or anything. "Alrigh'." He eventually agreed with a small smile.

Mumbling more about something to do with eating, he placed his fork down and turned in his chair to face Cody before curling back his lips with his jaws slightly agape. It was understandable that the sharp extensions were usually hidden while speaking or eating, but they'd be in full view now.

Cody Archer
"Wow, cool!" he looked amazed at the row of sharp triangular teeth. They seemed deadly but so wickedly cool still

Uncosciously Cody got up to have a better view, but the lose knot of the sweater's sleeves gave away when he brushed it against the table's edge, slidding down the tail and onto the floor

"Ack!!!" he hastly tried to get the sweater back to place before any could have a good view of his rear. When he got up his cheeks were bright red with embarassement

Amaya Vaughan
The lizard gave Alec a friendly nudge of her tail on his leg, a gesture to show that she appriciated what he had done. She knew it would cheer the kid up. "Shark teeth are cool, arn't they?" Though as she went to eat again, she watched as Cody's sweater slipped down, though didn't seem phased at all.

"Don't worry about it Cody." She gave him a reassuring smile. "I can't even wear pants anymore."

Alec Derring
Alec held the stance as Cody got his fill of a look into his mouth, making a mock-growling sound for fun as he snickered and went back to eat. Just as he picked up his fork again, he saw the kid's flustered mishap. He figured that he didn't know that even with all his best efforts, when he'd bent down to retrieve the fallen sweater Alec had gotten a view of Cody's flippery caboose.

Alike Amaya, he wasn't surprised at all. He felt sort of bad that the youngster was feeling so embarassed, knowing that he couldn't hide it for long regardless. "Is ekay Kid, We all got wehd bits. See?" The teen pushed back in his chair and propped a foot up onto the table after removing his clunky boot. There was a mediocre-sized, grey fin protruding from the back of his heel that was rarely ever visible to anyone. Perhaps if he showed Cody something similar, he'd feel less upset about the obvious tail-like appendage.

Cody Archer
"But I don't like showing my butt to people. This stupid tail pushes all my shorts down" he said, growing even more red as he tried to tie a firm knot

He did looked carefully at Alec's mini-fins however. How come he had them growing on his feet while he got a tail?

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya smirked. "I don't even have a butt anymore, I don't think." Going to the bathroom had been a... challenge. Thankful she couldn't get red in the face anymore, she ate more of her salad in her own odd, iguana-like way.

Alec Derring
Alec looked over at Amaya as if she'd grown a third arm, furrowing his studded brow as he stuffed mashed potatoes into his awaiting mouth. "Ye've go' a butt." He retorted as if he was an expert on the topic.

Rubbing his flat nose, the teen went for a napkin. "Can ye move i'?" He curiously -and bluntly- asked, wondering if the child could wiggle the new 'tail' independantly yet. Perhaps he'd be a better swimmer already as a result.

Cody Archer
"I... I don't know!"

Cody looked back at hs tail and tried to will it to move, but the only response he got was that sharp protest that had been following him since the changes

"Don't think so. Least not while it hurts"

He grab another mouthfull before a sudden question came to mind

"Do you know I can fix my shorts?"

Amaya Vaughan
The reptile coughed out a tomato she was eating. How the hell did he know she had a butt?! Yellow eyes looked back at her rear, for about the 100th time thankful she couldn't blush.

Though after regaining her composure she ate a little more and then looked up at Cody. "I used to sew... maybe I can figure something out." Standing, she walked over to him. "I know it's embarassing, but let me see." She felt like a mother careing for him like this. Or a big sister. Afterall, the poor kid needed someone to look after him.

Alec Derring
Alec let the two work out the subject of attire amongst themselves, for several reasons. Mostly he chose to fall silent and continue eating because he had absolutely no sewing or mending skills whatsoever and would be completely useless, because he wanted to give Cody his room so as not to feel uncomfortable, and because he'd rather not get involved particularly with anything to do with clothing.

Cody Archer
Cody did as she said, though he didn't felt very happy about it. Even though she was a reptile, she was still a girl! But if he really wanted to have this problem solved he had no other choice

He untied the knot and put the sweater on the back of his chair, turning his back towards Amaya, so she could have a good view of his problem
His tail moved a bit against his legs however, as if he was trying to his butt with it

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya kneeled down, her head tilting this way and that. It was a lot harder when you couldn't see in front of you. The base of his tail was pretty large for someone's first change... But the poor guy couldn't go around in the nude or wear a skirt like she could.

Making a measurment on how wide it was with her eyes, she got a pretty good idea for what she could do. "Okay, if I make a hole in the back of your shorts and put a button on top, I think that will work. I'll have to measure you though. I won't do it now since I know you probably want some privacy for that." Patting his shoulder she stood up. "You can come by my duplex, number 22, with your shorts and I can probably figure something out for you whenever you want."

Alec Derring
In the meantime, Alec was practically licking his plate clean of the gravy as he contently went about his business. Though he was quiet, he half-listened to what they were saying and as they seemed about finished, he slid his plate away. Placing his boot back on, he leaned back again and swung his feet up to prop them ontop of the table, comfortably teetering on two chair legs.

"See? Nothin t'worreh abou'." He finally spoke up with encouragement. Cody needed to learn that people took care of each other around here. They made their own families.

Cody Archer
Cody felt happy as he put on the sweater over his tail. He was going to have his shorts mended and then he wouldn't have to worry about people looking at his butt

"Tomorrow? I think I'm going to rest today" he smiled at both of them

Amaya Vaughan
"Sure, I'll be at my duplex all day tomorrow so come by whenever you want." Amaya smiled down at him before taking her seat again to finish the rest of her salad.

Alec Derring
Alec smiled as well, nodding his approval. Ay, an' if ye eveh need drummin lessons, come t'me place." He laughed, trying to picture himself as a teacher. What was amusing him most was probably that he didn't really see himself as the mentoring type. He had enough problems himself.

Cody Archer
"Thanks"

He sat down a third time and finished the rest of his meal

"You play drumbs? Neat"

Amaya Vaughan
Now it was her turn to fall silent.

The teen listened to the two, hoping that Alec could cheer him up more then she could. After all, he had been a little boy once too.

Alec Derring
Alec stretched out his arms over his head, coyly smiling as Cody asked about his hobby. "Ye... a'm no' tha' good though." He smirked and teetered back and force on the back legs of the chair, obviously playing with his own ego regarding his 'talent'. He never really boasted, but if anyone asked he'd be certain to try and impress.

"D'ye 'ave a 'obbeh?"

Cody Archer
"Hobby? Soccer"

Actually his hobby had been collecting any soccer related stuff, but ever since he started having MS that kinda was put aside with all those treatments

Cody let out a big yawn. Now that his stomach was full his body was demanding rest. The changes had taken a lot out of him

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya continued to listen to them, finishing her salad and bowl of water before finally flicking her tongue. "Well, I better head off. My body doesn't take kindly to air conditioning anymore. She stood and grabbed her empty dishes. "I'll see you tomorrow Cody, and see you around Alec... thanks again." Giving them both one last smile and a headbob, she put away her things and then headed back to her duplex.

Alec Derring
Alec nodded and waved to Amaya as she left. Turning back from the doorway, he reached out to re-obtain the dish he'd been eating off of to put it in its proper place. "Ye shoul' play wi' Thom then sometime." The teen stopped himself, glancing off as he remembered the not-so-pleasant ending to the last game they'd tried playing with the egotistical pro. "Eh, no' sure thas a good idea afteh all." He laughed a bit and got up from his seat. "Anehways, a'll see ye 'round. Take care Codeh."

Despositing the plate at the front of the room, the teen left to head back to his duplex with a full stomach and a calm mind for once.

Cody Archer
Cody grabed his tray as well to put it away

"See ya" he waved as both left

Yamamoto Kikue

Kikue forced herself to stay calm. She'd retreated to her duplex room for the past two weeks, going outside at dusk and dawn. She met almost no one, yet made no effort to. For some reason she felt even more than usual the need to be alone. She had considered inviting Nita over, but again, the sudden dislike of the idea of someone staying in her room took over. She had no idea why.

But this morning she'd decided to return Alec's banadana. It had been washed and dried with her clothes and sheets. She'd folded it carefully, and stepped outside under the darkening sky to cross to his duplex. If only it wasn't so hot outside...if only she didn't feel like being by herself so much. Maybe this would be easier...

Keeping up with my studies is some distraction, at least, she muttered to herself mentally. She knew it was a poor excuse. But it was something.

Her sandals flapping, she stopped when she'd reached what she remembered as Alec's door. It's underneath Nita's, right?

Hesitantly, Kikue tucked the bandana into her yukata folds. With a clawed hand she was extremely aware of, she knocked softly on Alec's door. Hopefully he would be home...

"S'oveh 'ere." Alec mentioned as he walked beside Natsumi past the few duplexes that seperated theirs from each other. He motioned his arm towards the door just as he caught sight of a figure standing outside the building.

His first thought was obviously bad, the teen's paranoia towards the island's staff rising into some extravaggant story in his mind that ended in him being dragged off to be experimented on. He then realized that there was only one figure, contrary to the hordes of jeeps he vividly remembered from that encounter with the red man. Squinting his grey eyes, he attempted to recognize the person as a bit of his courage came back to him. "Kikue?"

Natsumi's face was still a bit flushed from the earlier issues, her hands clasped together infront of her. "Mn." Natsumi nodded, following his gesture to the building... Wasn't Nita's around here somewhere? It was a passing though that was quickly dropped when she spotted the figure outside Alec's door. Kikue was it? She glanced to Alec, inwardly hoping she wasn't about to be in the way of something... She thought about leaving right then but.. she needed that towel he had.

Nita had been sitting out on her balcony, reading with the last of the fading light. As the sun set, she stretched and put her book back inside before returning to enjoy the cool night air. Moments later, she caught a glimpse of white approaching the duplex downstairs. Kikue, perhaps? No sooner had the thought crossed her mind, when she heard the unmistakable sound of Alec's voice. Curious, she leaned over the rail and waved. "Evening, guys."

Surprised to hear her name, Kikue turned to see Alec approaching with someone she didn't recognize. Barely a minute after that, Nita popped her head over the balcony, too. Oh! ...This might be karma getting back at me for avoiding people for over a week...

Kikue felt nervous for some reason; she guessed maybe it was the other person, since she didn't know them. Putting her hand into the folds of her yukata, she pulled out Alec's bandana and held it in her hands. She gave Nita a friendly wave. "Hello...I didn't think so many people...would be out." She turned back to Alec and the girl -- woman? -- with him. Getting a good look at her, Kikue was surprised to note her features. ...This girl. Is she the other Japanese here on the Island?
PostPosted: Thu Jul 13, 2006 6:43 pm

Alec smirked, pleased to see the young woman again. It'd been an eternity since that day on the cliffside and he had been wondering how she was doing, especially since the freshest memory in his mind regarding the matter was the rather tattered state she was in when he left her in her duplex. "Aye, 'ow are ye?" He waved to the felinesque girl just as a certain nosey red-head popped over the side of her balcony upstairs. In the dark, it still managed to startle him a tad.

"EY! .... ya buggah." He muttered amusedly, waving to Nita as well. "Ye, a' bit o' a crowd 'appenin?" The teen chuckled and before he could think to ask Kikue why she'd been lurking about his duplex, he walked over and unlocked his door. "Ye comin' in th'lot o' ya?"

Natsumi shifted uncomfortably, equally noticing Kikue's Asian-like features... That seemed both inviting and at the same time uninviting. The fact she was pregnant was being more and more hard to conceal, not nessicarily because of the size.. but because of her general inability to keep secrets. And if Kikue was Japanese, Natsumi doubted it would be taken as well as Nita had taken it. She would undoubtably be seen as... well. Dishonorable.

Speaking of Nita... Natsumi's smile returned as she spotted the familiar woman, giving a small wave, more mindful of her sweater's limitations now. "Coming in...?" she echoed, turning back to Alec "But.. I.. I do not want to be a trouble..." she fidgeted.
