He wasn't sure what happened, he was tossing in a net and suddenly he was in the water and breathing it in. It hurt and was painful and fishing trips were gone for the next several days as he vomited out sea water on the beach why a concern Hazmath watched over him.

Well... that wasn't a fish. That was a rather gross and slimey boot...Yevalee winkled their nose, giving the slimly surface a poke.

Gallath muttered, peering over.

"No.. most certainly you can not." Yevalee replied and sighed. This was not going well at alll.

Xuxu replied cheerfully, peering over the squirming net of fish. Look at them! Wiggling, wiggly fish.

"This is good. We need them." He said, tiredly packing up his supplies and the catch of fish to take back and feed the wery, the best they could.

11-20: You did great! Either you took some training in the Seacraft or you're just a natural! Regardless, you manage to haul in a net full of nothing but delicious silverfish. The delicacy will make some good eating! Yum, yum yum. +10 points

They were on beach duty this week around... It almost felt like free time, although there was amply much both rider and dragon would have rather have been doing. The bright sun beaming down and reflecting up off the pale sand was awful, and drove them towards the lusher areas... a spot of luck, in the end, as it was easy enough to turn up a crop of greens and tide-stranded seaweed to pack up to drag back to the Weyr.

71-80: You're doing all right! The haul you bring in is modest, but every little bit helps. Roll a D4 to see what you managed to gather from the sea!

After the success of the previous sevenday, M'ika was, perhaps not eager or excited, but something along those lines, to try his hand out back at the water. The weyr provided much for him, so in what small way he could give back, it was a good thing. He remembered to gather some supplies this time - if he also brought along a net and a bag this time in case he happened to luck upon some more spiderclaw, well Pallath alone would know it was because of her laughter. And wouldn't she be smug if she realised...

Luckily she was simply more excited to spend time down at the water's edge, or playing in the surf. It was far too cold for the likes of him, but she relished it, and he was not one to deny His anything if it was within his power. Mind you don't scare the fish away He reminded the green as she made her way to edge of the water.

Don't worry so much, Mine. I'll be sure to send the fish your way.

And if he probably ended up with a better catch than anticipated, well, she never needed to know.

Character: Pemli and Gold Ningesth

While Pemli had done well last seven day, thanks to her gold, this time she decided to check the beach for things they could use for food. After all, surely it would be easier to find some things that might have washed up on shore. She had a basket and anything that looked good, she scooped up and placed inside. When she was done, she had a basket full of greens and edible seaweed.

Definitely not fish, but I am sure the cooks will make use of it,Ningesth commented.

"Yes, I know they will be. It should have some nutrients and it can be dried too,"Pemli smiled. Every little bit helped and she was glad she had found some more to be used.

Running Character Total: 43 pts
Character: Edalla and Green Moilath

Edalla had decided that this time, she and Moilath would work even more as a team. Last sevenday had been a little too close and it had taken help from her green to make it a success. So this time she directed Moilath to swim out a bit from the shore, then once they were far enough, she threw her net out, to see if they would get anything. After some time, she could see the net being dragged down.

"Well, seems we have quite a catch. We better bring it in, before anything happens to the net or the fish,"she reasoned.

Yes, that would be a good idea, Mine, the green agreed gently. So between the two of them, they managed to get the net safely back to shore. Edalla looked what was in the net and nodded with a private smile.

"Look at all these fish. Looks like we even got a rare green shellback. The kitchen will have a field day with this,"she spoke.

Quote:
34) 31-40: Surely you have a knack for this, for the water is teaming with sea life. Roll a D4 to find out how plentiful your catch is!
2. A dragon (your dragon maybe?) becomes a floating platform. He or she takes you (and his or her rider if it's not yours) a little bit further from shore. They mus have been lucky because you wind up catching quite a haul! Some yellowgills, redfins, and a rare green shellback are all brought in to be salted, boiled, smoked, and dried. Tasty! +10 points

If you are a rider, take your two highest stats. Whatever the total is, add those to the points you earn! (i.e. 8 + 2 = 10... so you get an extra 10 points to whatever you rolled above!) (9+9= 18 extra points)

61-70: You're fishing with a pole today, standing on the small floating dock.
You see the bobber go under, and pull up hard. Sure enough, there's a whopper at the end of the line. It's a fight, and you can tell you've snagged the largest packtail you've ever seen. Unfortunately you yank too hard and the line snaps. Not only is your pole now useless, but the big one gets away.
Worse, your fishing luck the rest of the sevenday seems to follow suit... You wind up with a whole lot of nothin'. -10 points

So after last week's disaster, fishing with a pole seemed like the way to go. No real risk of falling in, certainly no risk of destroying a net... The biggest thing was being patient, and even though Serrekhar was shifting his weight and fidgeting, he was doing his best. It all seemed like it was going to pay off when he felt a monster of a fish on the line, and he fought with it for several moments, pulling back as hard as he could.

Then the line broke. Shards and shells.

Last week's near drowning experience made Alya extraordinarily reluctant to try anything to do wish fish again... but bellies needed to be filled, and she would definitely get caught if she tried to shirk the task. Oh, look! LOOK! Baihath had caught sight of the scurrying spiderclaws swarming the beach, immediately beelining to investigate.

This was perfect! Alya had to run to fetch a basket before hauling it back to the beach. Yes, she squealed and dropped the first few spiderclaws when she tried to grab them, but soon, she'd gotten something of a rhythm down. Surely no one would be mad when she showed up with these in tow!

You caught a haul full of a school of fingertails.

Tianxiath had somehow gotten the idea into his head that perhaps his rider would fish some rare and valuable treasure up from the sea... Needless to say, though supportive, he was a bit disappointed when Aerden showed him nothing but fingertails. Tasty, yes, but refined? No.
