The deeper Tsarine stepped into the trees closing inward the more he prickled head to toe. Ayala's constant lashing of her tail ideally was just flat out sending bad vibes everywhere with each hoof that was placed one in front of the other. Tsarine's head lowered downward as if some unseen force pushed him downward while branches scraped past his sides heaving with excited breath. Not that he had really tried out his magic in the first place but, maybe the inkling within proved it might of been useful in this situation. No matter really he was stuck like most of the party including their leader; Vitalia.
Ayala groaned hissing as a branch splayed out threatening to cut her wide open. Mouth opening instantly she occupied herself nipping branches as they fell to the ground. Sometimes one would fall backwards brushing Tsarine who would stumble thinking something was clawing at him.
Tsarine groaned trying to pull his head up as the party pushed onward , deeper into the unknown of black chaos forming an abyss sucking out hopes and dreams. Each time Ayala hissed her mouth serrated yet another branch that threatened her. To some these actions would appear comical but, they worried the young noul wondering how her sanity was really holding up. Shaking his head he forced himself to keep pushing through with the group.

The energy high from whatever was going on in this strange forest, hadn’t abatted much. However, Tempest was grabbing it by both horns and going full rodeo with it. She looped around the trees, keeping to the outside of the group as they progressed further in. Vitalta had them following the happy noul faced trees, their horns all pointing to the right. So, Tempest made a game of it, she would loop those trees to the right and the lizard ones to left.
As the group came up against a barrier of branches, she channeled the energy into striking and pushing at the branches. Smaller ones broke off easier than the larger ones. It was slow going but she was making progress on the wall along side the others. Meanwhile, her thoughts buzzed around in her mind like sugar high flies. This forest was so freaking weird. Was it alive or dead? Why did some loose their magic while others didn’t? Why was she the only one amped up on energy? Energy that buzzed and hummed and hammered away at her internally. The only way to dispel it was keeping on the move, striking and biting and pulling at the branches. Tempest wanted out of this freaky place.

The intense wall of branches was something of a shock to Moon Mist. If only her gift was still intact and she could figure out what on earth was wrong with these trees. She felt a real stab a guilt. Her ability probably would never have been more useful than now ... and here she was, as is she'd never even ventured the Grandfather Tree! This made her at least a little angry, which she channel into trying to get through the snarl of branches. wc: 84 twc: 1179 Quote: 12/20 traveled, unharmed, no gift

Quote: +1 from rat fight not used 14/20 Aldwyn followed dutifully. He'd hoped that by tracing the trail of the smiling faces, the path ahead would become easier, more welcoming. He'd hoped to see signs that they'd chosen correctly. Instead, the trunks only grew clustered more tightly together. The branches twined every which-way in the party's path, scraping and dragging at those who weren't careful. Even when he was careful, Aldwyn was still too large to escaped completely unscathed.
The branches pulled at his hide, leaving scrapes against his face and flank. It wasn't unbearable, not unmanageable, but he'd still hoped for something easier...
When they made it to the knot of brambles and Viltalta instructed them to press onward, Aldwyn couldn't even think of what to say in argument. They'd come so far into the wood already that turning back may be just as difficult as progressing forward. It really felt like there was no other choice. This was the path they'd collectively chosen, and now they had to walk it. He did as instructed and tore his way through the thicket.
It still worried him, though. If there was no end to this, they could easily be trapped in this brambles. Backing out of this would be much harder than backing out of the woods. The all just had to hope that the end was in sight.

Progress was being made as the group punched through the wall of thorns. So far he has gotten through without any more injury. This was a nice thing, even though his mouth would cause some trouble until he could be healed. He always caught himself licking at the edges, trying to keep anything that might be around, out. A real thorn in his side it was, hoping that they would get out of these woods. He only hoped that it was to the other side... [[ Banked roll +1, Unused Injured -1 rolls 16/20]]

She could tell they were really getting somewhere with the wall of branches. She continued to stamp on some, snapping them off and tossing them away. The smaller ones she grabbed and snapped or twisted off. The wall of branches was certainly an interesting obstacle to get around. She just hoped they broke through soon and got out of these dang trees. Tempest got further through the wall and then paused for a swig of water.
Taking another drink of water, she pondered over the journey. She’d followed later after the original group had set out. She missed some early excitement but the rest of the journey had proven interesting. She was glad she decided to come out here after all, although she had wished she’d seen the Grandfather tree first. Surely whatever magic it blessed her with would have been useful on this journey. But alas, she didn’t not, no use crying about it now though. Tempest wondered how much longer this journey would be. She knew they were a search party to find Wanderlust and his lost group. But are they really lost? After all they had seen, she wondered if they had stumbled upon something even more amazing, going by what they’ve been through to get to this point.
Tempest looked at the wall of twisted black branches. Just a little bit more, surely and she went back to breaking through them.

Moon Mist through all of her weight against the branches, crashing forward. Momentum finally seemed to be on her side. Or perhaps she'd just found a particularly weak place. One way or another, though branches tried to snag her, everything just seemed to slide off. She breathed heavily but kept heading forward. Branches pushed against her, but she pushed right now. Every step was hopefully one step closer to having her gift restored. "Please ... let this be the end ..." wc: 79 twc: 1258 Quote: 22/20 traveled, unharmed, no gift

As if Moon Mist’s plea was heard by the ancestors, the party broke through the last of the brambles and fell free into a clearing. The trees were a veritable wall at their backs, but in front of them… was sand. Dunes again, with loose grains whisking away in the wind. Sunlight dwindled gleaming gold as night crawled toward them. How long had they spent in that dead forest? Viltalta shook thorns from her wings, turned to face her party, and gasped. The fortress of trees was covered in glimmering blue crystals, the same as they’d seen at the Other’s bridge and felled in tree roots within the wood. These, though… these were attached to the trees, growing against the dead bark like gill mushrooms. Maybe this was why she didn’t feel her power return when she exited the forest. She stepped near enough to see how the crystals were attached. They appeared to be part of the tree itself, with veins of blue roots dug into the bark. “We…” she hesitated. “We should keep moving. Isra’s map mentioned sandfall and there’s plenty of that here. Keep an eye out for anything that looks promising.” She moved away from the crystals, shivering. _______________________________________________ Quote: You may choose one action. It seemed ages that the entire party pushed heavily against those branches receiving cuts and bruises. Tsarine along with ayala pushed heavily through till they were free of the morbid grip of this anomaly they'd been trapped with. Save for minor scapes and bruises Tsarine had managed to emerge with no detrimental damage to him or Ayala. Her emotions were seeming to simmer down leaving the young buck wary but, ready to face the next obstacle. While some of the party went digging for that odd crystal he found, Tsarine opted to follow Vitalia's request scanning for Sand fall. What met his gaze was more of the usual barrens unwelcoming sandy presence which made him groan none the less.
Ayala's breathing lessened till she was back to her usual doting self checking for injuries upon herself and Tsarine. Somehow past a few cuts and bruises both of the were completely healthy enough to continue onward. She sneezed from nothing in particular looking over the sandy nothingness. It seemed they were looking for a wall of falling sand. Interesting way of noting it. She of course wouldn't even admit this to Tsarine even if she did have an inkling to where they were going. Stretching outward she relaxed over Tsarine's withers letting him once again take control of the situation.
Ears swiveling past all the chatter going on he squinted wondering if he'd find anything. Leaving the others a few steps behind he ventured forth toward the sandy nothingness seeking an answer to this wayward riddle they'd been running circles within.
"There has got to be something out there, Ayala", he spoke with determined overtone mingled with questions streaming in the back of his mind.Tsarine & Ayala WC: 284 banked +1 not used drained of giftSearch for Sandfall

He was glad to be free from the trees, the black and red streaked bark was really making him uncomfortable. Shaking his head and licking at the edges of his mouth, Draven thought maybe he had been wrong? Or they had just pushed through a wall that had been indeed a dead end. Inwardly snorting, he gave a glance back at the trees that bore now blue crystals. These were ones that looked like those some of the party had acquired. He wasn't going to have anything to do with them. If they were apart of that place he was going to leave them long. "Lets find that cave and get as far away from these trees as we can." he muttered to no one really, everyone always seemed to be doing their own thing. This group wasn't much of one, they were mostly just out for themselves. Only truly helping when the Ascended said that they had to. From the back of the group he observed how not many, maybe only a couple socialized with everyone else. The rest were just quiet and wanting their own space. Teh, some rescue party they were. He had tried interacting with others, but seems things fell to deafs ears. So be it, really he could just keep his own gear to himself. "Draven, have some water. It might help with that cut." Bluebell said as she had pulled out one of the broader containers for Draven to drink out of. He did so before shaking his head and Bluebell placed it back into the basket. He was glad for the Jack Hop, it at least gave him someone to talk to. Even the spirited Doe whom had been talking to him earlier in this trip had left him alone. Oh well, can't please everyone he supposed. wandering a bit away from the group, he searched the Sandfall for this cave, just his mind was more on the cut then really hunting. Gods this thing stung and was bugging the crap out of him... [[ Banked roll +1, Unused Injured -1 rolls Searching the Sandfall]]

Adahy was grateful when they finally brock through the tangled thorny branch wall. With a great sigh of relief Adahy makes his out into opening. He was totally ready to be away for the one thing that had made him feel more empty then in his whole life. To not feel the magic of the Grandfather Tree was a sensation he wish to be rid of more then the smell of the Blackbriar Bog or the heat of the Barrens. It was that bad. He steps into a cleaning of sand. This was a terrain much like what they had been walking through before entering the lifeless forest and gave a little comfort to Adahy at the familiarity of it. Looking to the sky Adahy could see the night was descending on them now though. "Wow how long have we been in that place." Adahy said with a backwards glance at the forest. It had not seemed that long but at the same time it had been forever. But they were free from the clutches of that forest now. Some had taken a beating too but no noul was seriously hurt which was a positive. Adahy turned back to the forest to look at the trees in the dwindling light. Upon closer inspection of the them Adahy could see that they had blue crystals all over them. It was almost as if they were growing on or form the trees. "Strange I have ever seen anything like this before." But Adahy did not care much more then that; he had already lost his abilities to use his Great Tree given gift and he was not about to tempt the spirits that be to have more taken form him or get hurt just to inspect farther. He already had two crystals in his bags anyways, he could inspect them once back in the Homewoods. Plus they were on a mission; it was better to say focused and find any signs of the cave on the map. Adahy pushed off putting some distance between himself and the dead tree forest which was now behind him. He began looking all around the sand covered hills. There had to be some sign or cave mouth or something that would show them the way; Adahy just had to keep a shape eye. Darkness was fall quickly though and if they did not spot the cave soon they would not be able to find anything in the dark which might mean camping near this forest and in the open again. They had not had much luck with being in the open so far and even worst then that who knew what darkness would bring upon there group. Quote: Banked +1 roll Not using. Finally, they were able to leave the bizarre trees. It was wonderful that they all worked together to free themselves. However, they’re journey wasn’t over yet. It seemed they had another place to find. But as she past the trees, something caught her eye and she turned to look back. Crystals glittered along the trunks of the trees. Tempest’s eyes widened a bit, suddenly distracted by the glittering chunks.
She glanced back at the group, most where already trying to spot the next destination. She’d make this quick then, so she moved back towards the trees to see if she could pry one loose. They looked similar to crystal that others in the group already obtained. She pondered if these had any affect on them or not.

Through the trees at last, Moon Mist had expected ... something. Like the return of her gift. But no, she was still as empty as before. And now night was creeping towards them again. Her ears flattened. Would she ever get her gift back? She let out a long sigh. More strange trees, this time with crystals galore. She gave them a quick glance, and shook her head. Without her gift she didn't want to go in blind. She turned her gaze towards the sands instead. Listening carefully to Viltalta, she set herself off to find what they really needed ... wc: 99 twc: 1357 Quote: Unharmed, no gift Searching for Sandfall

Ysalone breathed an audible sigh of relief when, after what seemed an age, the party broke through into the open again. She turned and noticed the crystals, rooted into the trees themselves and felt an inexplicable curiosity. What were they? Why were they there? That it might be a bad idea to touch them didn't cross her mind as she moved closer to inspect them. The doe gave the nearest one a careful nudge, and then tried again, a little hard. Maybe...? She grabbed it and began to try and pry the stone off the bark. Quote: Action: Attempt to take a crystalBanked: +1 to a single future roll of choice Items: -

The group pushed on.
Ralir steeled himself, wincing as the density of thorny branches increased. Had he made a mistake (never mind that other nouls had made the same vote)? It felt like one...but before he could voice his regret, or at least the doubts beginning to form in his mind, the hot yellow glow of the sun began to show again, and an ocean of dunes seemed to form before them.
Ralir's breath caught in his throat. There was sand in the rest of the Barrens, of course - it was so grainy and dry - but they were for the most part flat. Sand tended to fall through cracks rather than forming these breathtaking dunes. Ralir turned back, taken aback at the clusters of crystals literally growing from those trees. Was this Vykeli's history? Had the Others come from this?
He wanted to know, of course, but Viltalta's words brought him back to the present. Ralir had come here for a reason, and he would have time to investigate the crystal he'd found later. Now, he wanted to make his way to whatever cavern Isra had found.
What had those notes said again? Ralir tried to recall them. A small ridge? Sandfall everywhere? If he searched with intent, surely he'd have more luck.
