Dimitri Otengam

User Image"A telekinetic right out the gate huh?" He asked nobody in particular, placing on his shades, the icing on his uniform right before they exited the jet. Compared to what the other team had on their plate, it was almost a fact they were going to need some painkillers at the least after this gang war was taken care of. However it was a risk Dimitri showed no hesitancy to take; especially since she was part of the team dealing with the rocky bulletproof mutant. The one that was running this crew, Blake gave them a heads up that they'll be helping the police and if they pulled this off right, they may just move the needle on the community's good side.

"Alright stay focused Playboy." He kept quiet on the surface; arms crossed, head down listening on the situation at hand. The breaths he took through his nose to relax his pulse was hopefully unheard from the bedlam that they were placed in. His nerves were amped from the fact this was his first real mission. The sensation of teleporting only helped by acting as a catalyst. "Just remember the training."

While Danger Room and personal sessions allowed room for error, the real deal wouldn't be so kind in return. But that was why he was picked by professor Xavier and Dimitri had to remind himself of that. The professor knew he was ready and believed in him. And the flashback to when he saved those twins and the talk his father gave him reminded him that deep within, it was his time.

Members from his team that he still had to memorize(or what they even did) selected the positions on which to approach the scenario. Maybe if he showed up to the Halloween party instead of coming home drunk as a skunk in the after hours from another party he'd at least know the military guy's name. A gloved index and middle finger rose from his crossed arms "I'll go with him to get people to medical care." Playboy offered referring to Aero.

Gear:
Top and Bottom with reinforced protective padding(for him, not his opponents) on the elbows and knees
Combat Gloves to match his suit
Fresh Kicks with front padding on the top to protect his feet when kicking.
X-Shades and The X-Cap to put a little bit of "Damn I look good!" on it.

There she was, at her first mission, standing among a group of young mutants, who, by her assumption, had no clue what they were doing. It was a harsh assumption but it seemed fitting. Half these people were brand spankin' new to the school and she had no idea what they were capable of. It was entirely possible that at least one of these newbies were gifted with the amazing power of... lactation manipulation or something equally entertaining but completely unhelpful when fighting a dude with rock skin.

Green eyes glanced from one face to the next, trying to gauge the emotions of her peers. If anyone felt nervous, they definitely didn't show it. Or... was she to assume that everyone here was completely prepared for this rock dude? A few people tossed out ideas and she was surprised to hear how strategic they all sounded. These people sounded like they've done this a million times. And while she'd been in countless simulations, June had never offered up an idea that wasn't illogical or completely dangerous.

And that was the thing with simulations. She knew they were running around a simulated scene. It made things a little... different. Also, she'd never encountered this specific scenario in the sim room. So, she was pretty much just waiting for someone to give her a command.

Kinda like a dog. 'June, go fetch!'

She let out a short laugh when she heard Gracie call her name... followed by "do what you do best." Not surprising, given her mutation. She could also whack them in the face with something hard but that required more effort. "Aye aye, cap'n!" She replied, mimicking Gracie's wicked grin. Make them sick. That was easy enough.

"Don't worry, babe. I'll save you some."
She gave Aurelie a playful wink and headed off to keep an eye on stray minions. With un-gloved hands, she was ready to make some people embarrass themselves.

A slight look of concern crossed her features when she saw Gracie drop to her knees. The girls have known each other for years but June still didn't really understand the hex manipulator's power. She only knew it mostly created trouble and... something to do with luck?

June's ears perked up when Jinx spoke her name. She'd been assigned a partner and their task was to go search for innocent bystanders. Looking at the guy named Rebound, two thoughts came to mind. One, he was definitely a newbie. And two, he was a fiiine male specimen.

Staring at him with a completely intended flirty smile, she introduced herself. "I'm Plague. Great pleasure to work with you."

"So, I guess the captain wants us to help the innocent randos. Sounds like fun,"
She said, not moving in any direction. "Before we start, we should probs get to know each other a bit just to make this run a bit smoother. I can spread disease by touch. What's your specialty?"

"Also... where the ******** is west? She could've just said left."

Gabe Byrne
Location: Combat Zone
Thoughts: Confrontation

Gabriel stood there with the crowd, ready to go in. While he was not normally kitted out, he was advised not to go in looking like he was an action figure, he figured he’d probably find something to procure from one of these guys. He had his bulletproof mask on, the polarized lenses lent him some further inhuman quality to the young mutant’s already militarized appearance. It was pandemonium with the police moving around and forming a perimeter. Taking a second, he scanned the area, and considered options. He suggested that he could go into the front line, put as many of his armor-piercing rounds into the heavily armored juggernaut that they were going to face. Such an idea was quickly discounted, highlighting the reality of dealing with non-lethal methods as well.

Some of the team moved their way towards the threat, with direction to find and take care of a couple hitters that were prepping to take popshots. Nodding at his lead, he made his way towards his target. He clocked movement in the building not too long ago, glad to know he wasn’t the only one who noticed that. Rather than drawing attention to himself, he ran towards the building next door, getting himself out of view.

Gabriel got inside, and started making his way to the stairs, moving up and through the stairs. He knew that they were a few flights up, quickly moving as heavy boots slammed on the floor. When he reached the fourth floor, he slowed, footsteps gently gliding across the hard ground. Taking a second, he saw a fireaxe on the wall. Shrugging, and perhaps finding the humor in the situation, he grabbed it with both hands. He stepped towards the room where they shooters were preparing, and carefully wrapped a knuckle on the door. He had the axe at hand, and a steel-toed boot ready to kick down the door the moment things were ready.

The team was finally starting to move. As they moved forward, Wraith was already coming up with ideas to use his abilities to their fullest extent. He could make physical objects of shadow, but he couldn't make much material. Furthermore, they had to be solid- not a gun or cannon. He could make the bullet, but not the weapon to fire it. Because of that, he focused on melee weapons. Sharp and pointy things. Of course, that was if he wanted something solid. He could do far more if all it was amounted to an abscense of light in an area. That was going to be his tactic. Let the gang members shoot at a menacing shadow, and his team can take them down. True, he relished the idea of making them remember not to cross mutants by taking 'trophies,' but that might not be available. No use in killing the humans- but a poignant reminder can be powerful. He was smiling a darkly when Jinx fell to her knees and spoke to him directly. She had earned his attention by recognizing him earlier. Now she was asking for his aid by name. Again, that felt like recognition and being needed. His smile became even darker as he nodded and veered off. She called on him- and the pride swelled in him. It didn't really dawn on him yet that this was now his home. Here people called him Wraith. Here he was useful and had value. Here he was free. To date, the mutant had not met this Siege, but the person darting into the appropriate building came with them. That was fair enough to assume to be his partner in this. In the meantime . . . it was time for theatrics.

Wraith moved to the middle of the street about halfway before the building. He looked up and tried to see any glint of weapons to understand exactly where they were. Of course it was night. No such luck. However, luck comes in many forms. It was night, so there was abundant lack of light. His tactics remained the same, but he had a new audience. Wraith summoned up his strength, and then began to manifest something big. It wouldn't be solid. The mass was far too large for that. Instead, he made something terrifying. A cloud of shapeless fog seemed to form upon his location- as wide as the building they were facing. From it, as if rising from some pit, a vaguely skeletal form began to block the building from the rest of the commotion. A humanoid torso began to face down the building. In the cloud of shadow at the bottom, Wraith raised his arms menacingly, leaning his head back and forth as if scanning the sidewalk not far away. Above him, the shadow- for that was all it was, emulated his every movement. A giant skeleton with blurred lines began to look to and from as it scanned the balconies. Wraith hadn't the skill to make every individual bone, but he could imagine enough of one to get the point across. The snipers would have their view blocked by something massive and frightening. Wraith was playing decoy, depending on Siege to take them down physically. If Wraith was lucky, then the cowards would begin firing and help Siege locate them easier.

Daylia cringed at the mention of roaches. For some reason she found those even more repulsive than rats. The cringe turning to disgust fairly quickly as Gracie talking about some new healthy crazy. "What in the actual ******** style="color: #4e8a8d"> She paused as her little hamster tried to run on it’s little wheel. "Wait, are you telling me someone is milking cockroaches? Or are they like blending them up and mixing them into milk? Cause, either way ******** ew." She said as she shook her head. "But if it’s the first, who the ******** looked at a cockroach and said, ’I bet I can milk that.’"

However, as the moved on, their marathon was not meant to last. The need for them to go out and fight some bad guys was enough to ruin any good moods they had, but to learn the pair were to lead one of these missions had pushed everything over the top. They both freaked out, though each for a different reason.

While D’s was simply because someone was demanding that they lead, poor Gracie’s was far more dangerous. She made an attempt to try and calm her friend but telling someone it was going to be alright usually didn’t help much.
"We might not, but he doesn’t know where you are either." She had assumed that anyway, after all, if he had known she was living in the X-mansion surely he would have come knocking by now. "Plus, we have masks, he won't be able to tell if you’re one of us or not if we end up on the news. Hell, the x-men is probably the last place he would ever think to look for you. Plus, he’s gonna have to go through a lot of people here to get to you."

Of course, D knew that she wasn’t going to be able to help much with words, but it wouldn’t stop her from trying.

                                              ------------

Daylia hadn’t expected the police to be as shitty as they were, especially when they were the ones who had called for outside help. She did her best to reign in her anger with them as they moved away to come up with some sort of plan. She couldn’t help but voice some of her darker thoughts on the matter.
"Yeah, I know." She mumbled back to Gracie. She pointed out that the two of them were likely to be the ones in trouble if anyone on their team had gotten hurt, especially if someone did something stupid. Gracie agreed and used the threat of melting them to try and drive the point home.

They worked out a plan, D was to take one of the boys around back with her and the other would follow along with Aurelie. The two women would be able to keep them safe from gunfire, however, Aurelie would be able to do it for more people than D could. Hell, she was fairly positive she’d only be able to take one person with her.
"Yeah, lets just hope it doesn’t crumble under pressure." She said as she shook her head. If this was their best plan, hopefully, it would be enough.

Daylia asked who was the one that would go with her, and waterboy was the first to speak up.
"Alright, you’re with me then. We’ll work our way around and in. Hopefully, this building's got something you can use to dump the water in." She watched him and Jedi before nodding. "Best listen to him." She said, knowing full well what danger Monsoon could be in if he let go of her at the wrong time.

"And if you’re done flirting, we’ll be off." Daylia began to drag Marcel off, however the words Wrath gave Jedi made her pause. "Uh, pretty sure his life is in my hands at the moment." She said as she rolled her eyes.

Before they could get any further, another voice caught her attention with some long-winded speech. Her eyes went to Darius as she shook her head, her blue-gray orbs rolling so hard she was sure they would pop out of their sockets.
"Its like a ******** drama around here, I swear." She grumbled to Marcel.

"Okay, a few warnings, like Jedi said, don’t let go and don’t move away. Do not fight whatever your feeling when my power activates, it’s gonna feel hella weird, but if you fight it, it's just going to be more strain on me. If we pass through a wall or something else solid, try to hold your breath. I got a lung full of cinder block dust once and that is not a pleasant sensation. Above all else, you gotta trust me." She said before placing her hands on his shoulders and pushing him out in front of her. Her grip was firm as she concentrated. Her eyes closed as she focused her breathing while trying to focus on his. Like a drop of ink color began to spread from her hands over his shoulders and up her arms until it had completely covered them both, making them indistinguishable from their surroundings.

"Probably a little tingly, but it is what it is. Lets go." She whispered as she dropped one hand to position herself beside him, hooking her other arm though his.

                                                          Location: Rock-dude

One of the other men on the team had everyone pause while he gave a pep talk on how to deal with people in the streets, and her azure-imbued eyes watched him carefully. “Thanks for the the warning.” She murmured, knowing that her former life left her woefully unequipped to expect any of what Darius had just described. His spiel only made it that much more clear that she would need to keep her shields up on her teammates every possible second.

Grinning back at her roommate when she winked at her and promised to save some for her to sample later, Aurelie shook her head. “You don’t have to -- unless they’re cute.” With an airy giggle, she turned to face those who she’d promised to protect. Gracie took the majority of the team for crowd control, designating Jedi, Monsoon, Chameleon, and herself to head up the fight against the rock-man. Deliberating on the best way to accomplish their goal, Jedi was quick to volunteer to keep the monster down. Gracie suggested that Marcel drown it, leaving Aurelie and Daylia to play cover. “Looks like we’re Norse women on this one.” She said to the co-captain of their rag tag group. Norse women played shield maidens to their men. Hopefully the red-head would get the reference.

Monsoon and Jedi playfully shared some banter back and forth before they decided to split - Daylia one way with the hydrokinetic, and she and Jedi the other. Her partner for their piece asked if she was ready and the former ballerina shrugged. “As ready as I think I can be. You?” The blond said, uncertainty ringing in her tone. What none of them had counted on, was another joining their ranks.

The Scot ran up, a hammer in his hands. Aurie’s brow creased as she lost some of what he said from a mix of the heavy accent and weird terminology. “Gobshites?” The telekinetic posed, tilting her head. He uttered another line and Aurie gave Jedi a sideways glance to see if he’d translate. “I’m sure we’ll be happy to have you with us.” She said with a quiet laugh, the sound more based in nerves than it was humor.

Pushing forward, the noise their target made was enough to lead them in the right direction. “Gee, I wonder if that could be him.” The blond mused quietly. He slammed something against the wall of the building so hard that the foundation cracked, the bricks pulling apart as the crags grew quickly toward the sky. “If we were wanting to use the building as a way to hold the water, we’d better hurry.” Queuing up invisible shields, she wrapped a bubble around Merrick and August.

"If you need me to lift you so you don't have to split focus, just let me know." She said to the gravity manipulator. "You too." She added to Merrick, unsure of what his abilities actually were.

Thoughts: I'm thinking a lot right now. I feel like a squirrel.

”Now, I don't know about all of that,” he said with heavy emphasis on the last word as he shared a jestful disagreement of his eyes sparkling tonight. ”Maybe if the golden street lights drowned out the rest, these dull brown eyes might shine out a lot more as yours.”

He would have liked to continue, to share of his profound adoration to the sweet dough most consumed with coffee and how blueberry cream filling was perhaps his favorite in moderation, but duty seemingly called. The plan was now set and all that was left to do was to simply carry it out. Still, Marcel in all of his curious mind had to ask one simple thing that eluded him as he now turned his full attention back towards Chameleon ”Ready when you are, though I must ask: what is this flirting?”

Another mystery for another time, perhaps. August previously gave a warning of holding on to her at all costs and once more, this de facto Captain leading him to uncharted waters echoed those exact same sentiments. Who was Marcel to disagree at this particular point in time? Still, it definitely had him all the more curious. Curious enough to pose questions which would no doubt take an overextended amount of time. He would have asked, but all his thick lips did instead as they opened forth with a nod from his head was ”Hold on to you at all times, hold my breath when going through things and don't fight the feeling I might have.”

See? Marcel could totally be all serious when he wanted to be. That's what he told himself in his head, at least. He wanted to ask about this odd feeling. Would it be ticklish? Oh, he could imagine himself laughing all the way there. That would have people freak out, definitely. Maybe it might make him feel queasy instead, but that was so mundane to have occur from some new power set. As her powers got to work, Marcel was stuck trying to pay attention to a distinct dialect he heard across the soon to be battlefield. The language was of his father's homeland, Brasil. It was like hearing a Spaniard speak over someone from Mexico. There was watered down lingo that differentiated from actual Portuguese. He might have just curiously ventured out and disobeyed these rules given to him had he not remembered the embrace against his body and more importantly, the lack of actually seeing his body in the sense of his normal side brown skin.

”...Right…” was all he could say as if there was nothing more to do, the time to get into place was now. He followed Chameleon, keeping in mind everything she said about working with her abilities so that a worse case scenario did not present itself.

Flirting was easy for him, something that really eased the tension that was building between his shoulders. He poked fun at the flashing lights making Marcel’s eyes sparkle and the man fired right back at him, disagreeing playfully and waving him off. He smirked, bowing his head at the comment. “Ain’t nothin’ dull about you.”

August was certainly not the only one that had been coming up with ideas. But thankfully, Gracie and Daylia were doing a good job at trying to take control of the situation. He respected the duo. He had a few choice words for Marcel before they went to move out on their own key parts of the mission. Hold on tight and don’t get dead. It seemed simple enough. Daylia even sided with him, since it was smart. Though, when she mentioned him flirting, he laughed, “Ain’t never done with that. Just on pause.”

But even Alex was on board with August being the one to protect the water manipulator. Not that August was going to be with him. But, he would be close enough. Rather than mentioning it, August just nodded to the roommate. Daylia didn’t let him get off that easy. She had a point. Literally, Marcel was in her hands. She wasn’t one to get forgotten.

August looked to Darius when he spoke up, giving a rundown on street knowledge. This wasn’t gonna be the first time that August was on the side that would end up with a gun in his face. He was solid, unshaken. He wasn’t worried, not in the slightest. He nodded to Darius in thanks for the bit he spoke. He had good reason to want to warn them. They were walking in on one mutant. That was familiar for all of them, it was the humans that were the ones to worry about. Especially when it came down to no casualties.

They broke away from one another, moving into their own little groups. August put himself next to Aurelia. His arm was friendly around the blonde. When she answered his question, he shrugged, “Nothin’ to be worried about.” Their little conversation was interrupted by a rather energetic voice. August raised his head to look to Merrick. Aurelia sounded confused at the choice words of the Scot.

He was coming along, and with his own battlecry, August had to try to relax his jaw before his teeth broke beneath the pressure that he was putting on them. “Look, we’re glad to have the backup, but this is gonna have to be a stealth mission. I can’t stop bullets and Aurelia needs as much focus as she can keepin’ us alive. Let’s not burn her out.”

He broke away, his arm leaving the blonde as they pushed further into where the target was located. He was a noisy b*****d, that was for sure. He looked to Aurelia when the shield formed around him, “Just yank me if you see somethin’ comin’. Once I got weight on him, I’m gonna be hella distracted.” His eyes were on the walls that were seeming to want to buckle under the weight of both the building, and the force of whatever their target was doing.

His eyes scaled up the side of the building, looking for a way in that wouldn’t result in them giving their location away. On a sweep down, his eyes landed on an open window. Taking a few steps back, August motioned to the window. “There. Keep watch.” He walked up close to the building, sinking low before pushing himself up, graving changing on him as he launched himself to the second floor window, catching the brick window sill to stop himself. He was quiet as he peeked into the window, looking to see if it was clear before slipping inside. His feet remained light on the ground, just barely touching and soundless as he bounced his way through the room to make sure things were safe. Once he felt satisfied, he poked his head out through the open window and waved for the others to come up, holding a finger over his mouth to reiterate that they need to be quiet.

Already in his simulation gear, the familiar sounds of Alice’s voice gave him cause to look over his shoulder. Relieved that his best friend had been assigned to co-captain this ragtag group of junior X-men, he made a small joke at Chuck’s expense. “At least your head is screwed on right.” He said with a wink. “But it’ll be fine. By the time we’re out there, you’ll have forgotten why you’re mad at him to begin with.” The way he said it though, made it perfectly clear that he didn’t expect that amnesia to continue once they were off the field again. Poor guy. He was bound to get whiplash from the shift in the blond’s moods. Opting for a full on disguise to keep his identity safe, Blake met the rest of the team with a cavalier smile, meant to reassure any one who might have been nervous about being in the real world. “This is what we trained for, folks.

Teleporting never got any less discombobulating, but he recovered quickly, taking point as soon as his boots hit the ground.

Despite the fact that he expected nothing less than the police officer’s blatant disgust, he had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep himself from displaying his annoyance as the officer updated him on the scenario. A sadistic telekinetic was up to bat, and he’d already hurt numerous people… Rampage offered to help with the wounded, and he nodded once at him. “Follow close behind me until we get to where you need to triage then. I’d rather not use you as a ragdoll if we can avoid it..” He said with a grin. Even if Roland could take some damage, he’d rather not put the armor up to the test right out the gate. Aero offered his personal experience, and the Texan’s blue eyes met with the oxygen manipulator’s calculating stare. “Stay with Rampage, then.

After dishing out orders, Randall’s response elicited a grim grin and a roll of the Texan’s shoulders. “Sad but true.” The plant manipulator shot up to volunteer to help with the apartments, and he nodded once at his follow up question. “Just the apartments surrounding him. Some of our abilities are a bit more destructive, and if this goes bad, I don’t want them at ground zero, you know? Anything outside of a block radius should be fine.

Dimitri offered to help with that group, and the makeshift team captain of this unofficial team agreed with that idea as well. At least the people he’d been assigned to lead were compassionate, worried about innocents rather than stealing all the glory and going to hammer town by themselves. “The three of you know what to do then. Keep an eye on each other.

His cerulean stare glanced over the rest of the team, and Alice volunteered to be a distraction so that a few people could get closer to the telekinetic in an effort to take him down. Her own little spiel served as a second good reminder that the mission was to have no casualties. “You are good at noise.” Blake remarked, cheesing it with a smile that wasn’t his own.

Quintin asked about defensive versus offensive powers, and Blake considered. “Rampage’s armor is a great defense. Aero’s ability to create oxygen might be incredibly useful to any people with trauma to their lungs.” He said, figuring that Q would jump on the chance to help survivors. “He can also suck the air out of any oncomers’ lungs, prevent further hostages from being taken. This will also keep you away from Aftershock so that she doesn’t take a whole building down on top of us.

Connor mimicked that sentiment and Blake chuckled briefly before the Irishman asked about those already stuck too close to the telekinetic. “The police didn’t give a good number as to how many they thought were caught up in the chaos.” He said, frustrated that they were missing key pieces of information that could help with making a cohesive plan. “So once we are close enough to get an idea, I’ll start barking out what I can. Keep yourself safe, hostages are priority.” It wouldn’t do to fight the guy, lose control and have innocents hurt. “We need to isolate him, and use the playing field to our advantage.

When they got to the Sidestreet gang location, it wasn’t hard to pinpoint the mutant; they simply had to follow the screams. A police officer was suspended in the air in a crucifixion position. Sweat poured off of him as though he’d just been dipped in a lake, but the agonized sounds coming from him caused Blake’s stomach to churn like cream being made into butter. Even from their position, he could hear the man’s shoulder joint pop.

I’m going to rip you limb from limb.” The spindly mutant said, licking his lips in anticipation. “There won’t be enough of you left to feed to a dog.

Swallowing a lump of air, Blake scanned the area for more people. About eight were lined up along a wall, with several members of what he guessed to be the gang in question holding them at gunpoint. Pointing silently at them, he whispered into his comm, searching for Alice. “West side of the alley are the hostages. Take the east.

As he glanced around, he inwardly cursed himself. Almost no one had volunteered to actually do more than the rescue. Spying the victims lined along the brick walls, an audible sigh passed through his lips. “Scooby, I know you were on apartment duty, but I might need your vines down here. We’ve got potential victims lined up for slaughter, and I need a far reach to get them.

    Into the fire...

He approached August & Aurelie, his excitement over the situation causing him to a be a bit more… Scottish than normal. He forgot himself sometimes, not realizing that terms such as “gobshite” would sound just as foreign as what might be normal here in America. The irony of that is he spent as much time in the States as he did back in the Highlands, yet it was their vernacular he picked up more.

“Sorry, I forget meself at times.” he said, his accent a bit more toned down, “Gobshite basically means s**t head, ‘gob’ being mouth, and ‘shite’ being… well, you know.” he explained to Aurelie. He then took a second, and realized that he shouted in Gaelic as well. “The other thing was a uh…. clan battlecry. It translates roughly from Gaelic to; Sons of the hounds come here and get flesh.”

“Don’t mind me though, just a crazy Scotch-Brazilian with a hammer.” he added, cementing his excitable nature. August went into the importance of the mission, in part due to the fact that he can’t stop bullets. With a flick of his wrist, metal spheres danced around his hand “I may not be able to stop bullets, but I can pull the guns out of their hands before they pull the trigger.”

Tapping his gorget, he pointed towards the window that August brought himself up to with a metal gauntlet. “One sec.” he whispered, taking a moment to focus. Concentrating on the metal supports within the building itself, along with the metal in his boots, gauntlets, and belt, he began to levitate upwards towards the window that August had now found himself through. Gingerly sliding through the window, his feet touched the floor carefully as he relaxed that hidden “muscle” of his that he liked to refer to his powers as. He felt a buzzing sensation as the sudden rush of adrenaline, combined with the recent usage of his powers, ignited in a conflagration of excitement.

The sound of thudding, the shaking of the building, made his excitement even greater. He gripped his hammer tightly, preparing for a right that was sure to come.

XXXXXXXXWith: Dead or dying people/the city's ******** that noise. Dominic wasn't as gung-ho as some of the others. His powers weren't specifically geared towards direct combat. He'd let the others go off and play hero if they wanted to. After having arrived in a manner he wasn't sure he wanted to remember going through, he quietly slipped away from the others. This wasn't his stage and this wasn't going to be his performance. Maybe someone noticed, maybe no one did. He didn't fancy being blown up. Instead, he found himself crouched over an older woman who had been caught in some kind of crossfire. She had been bleeding profusely for several minutes without any kind of medical attention. He himself wasn't a doctor but he could see the color fading from her face. "Not much suited to this either, I guess." He placed the tips of his fingers equidistant across the crown of her skull, flooding her mind with peaceful images until she stopped breathing altogether. The mind, given sufficient influence, could be convinced of nearly anything, even that it wasn't dying.

As he stood, he could see someone out of the corner of his eye. Dominic cut his eyes to his left and studied the man who was smiling smugly and brandishing some kind of crude weapon. Another footstep stepping incorrectly onto the road to his right alerted him to the second individual dressed in the same manner as the first. They looked at him like two rogue lions had cornered wounded prey. This elicited a laugh from Dominic. "Good evening, gentlemen. What can I do for you on this illustrious evening?"

They didn't allow anymore preamble as both attacked him in a sloppy, brutish fashion. All Dominic did was step backward and they collided with one another. "You two never got the gold star in class, did you? I don't even have to be psychic to see what you're going to do a mile before it happens." Snarling angrily, both of them got to their feet, forgetting the crude instruments that they had previously thought would be a boon. Now they simply swung their meaty fists at him. Even if Dominic wasn't much of a fighter, the training at the school still covered some measure of hand-to-hand combat and was easily fending them off.

However, as he glanced their blows away from him, he could see that they were slowly edging toward a small building where he had seen a small family hiding before. Now slightly annoyed, Dominic vanished instantly from their sight, causing them to look at the spot he had just been in utter bewilderment. Then, for seemingly no reason at all, both of them clocked one another in the face as forcefully as possible, causing both of them to collapse onto the ground. Dominic had been behind them, hands both touching the napes of their necks the entire time before they fell to the ground. "Idiots," he said in exasperation.

He swung the door open to the building that housed the frightened family. "It's...markedly safer...but not by much. Anyway, you should go. Preferably....." He spun around for a minute, not entirely sure where he or any of them were. "...in a general that-way direction." He pointed away from where he thought the screams were coming from. When they didn't move and stared at him like startled deer, he bellowed: "Well?!" The scampered out of the building and away from him, shrinking into the distance.

"This is going to be a long night."

She was ready, even though she nodded to Blake, she knew that by the time this s**t was over, she would be willing to talk to Chuck. Avoiding him wasn’t going to work in this situation. As much as she hated to say it, she needed him to help her. If they needed to be distracting, then they needed to be as loud as possible. That was something that she could do, especially with Chuck. They had practiced together often. Often enough that they knew each other’s powers like their own. Their natures were destructively similar.

Teams were being split up while she recovered from the jump. Rampage and Aero offered to head off to help triage the hostages and those injured. She would be a cause of distraction, to pull the telekinetic away from those that he was probably shredding apart. Playboy was with on the medical team. That was good, they needed more people to help the innocents that were caught in the crossfires more than taking down the mutant at the center of it all.

Her eyes went to Void when he tried to get himself into a good position. “The less with me, the better. I’m taking Reverb. Maybe go with Rampage just in case he needs to shield any of the injured. The stronger he is, the better.” She looked to Blake to verify the idea. She didn’t need a whole team with her. The less people to worry about, the better.

She looked to Artisan, “Don’t get caught in any buildings.” Blake filled in the remaining gaps in their teams, nodding to him. “If I need to take down a building, I’ll let you know.” Once they were given the signal to move out, Alice did. She walked past Chuck, making it clear that he should follow her. She hoped that she didn’t need to take down a building to stop a telekinetic, but she wasn’t above doing it if she had to. She wasn’t going to fail this mission.

Alice was in the zone. It was the best place for her to be. She needed the distraction, something to hyper-focus on. Something that wasn’t going to drag her mind back to the long-haired man that was with her. They would talk when all this s**t was over. She moved them into position, her steps sure. She looked at Chuck when he said something about staying out of her hair. “I don’t need you out of my hair, I need you focused. Hands out of your pockets.” She sounded like a parent in the way that she said it, scolding their child for slouching.

She needed him ready for anything. “We’ll talk after this s**t is over. Just be ready for anything.” They diverged from the group while Blake moved in to give them a good idea on what they were seeing. When he came in over the comm, she looked to Chuck. Her finger pressed into her own device, “Got it.” She moved to the east, her steps light as she moved into position. They diverged from the others, getting in a safe distance. She had been quiet otherwise as she got her head into the game. She could let anything be a distraction.

She leaned against the wall, looking up and down the alley. The sound of screams not making her so much as blink as she started working her gloves off, stuffing them into the pocket of her uniform. “Okay. Just like we practiced. I need you to convert my waves into a boom. I don’t want to level the block, just shake it up a little.” She pushed off the wall and stood in the alley, aiming down the length to where they converged into the territory that the mutant and the Sidestreet Gang had taken up residence. Her fingers buzzed as she rubbed her thumbs against her fingertips before she looked to Chuck. Her shoulders rolled, her feet squared. She was solid and ready.

She nodded to him when she was set. Once he returned the signal, she slammed her hands together. It was like releasing all the energy she could ever hold. Releasing a wave like that, it was like feeling the snap of a tectonic plate with her bare hands. It was the ultimate release, one that was usually followed by destruction. But before the wave could rip its way through the alley, Chuck converted it. Manipulating the waves into sound and creating a boom that shook the windows in the buildings around them. The cracked pavement beneath their feet only traveled a few feet before it disappeared, the vibrations turning to sound. It was like the strongest clap of thunder that could ever be measured. It made her chest vibrate, and the smile on her face that followed showed that she loved every second of it. She lived for this s**t.

Luci chewed at her bottom lip, tugging the skin between her teeth until it started to turn pink. She was nervous, for obvious reasons. This was her first time in the field. Her first time really to deal with any real world danger. Every other time it had been a simulation, something that she knew wasn’t real. But these were real people. This was real danger. She could really get hurt, or worse, hurt someone else. Her fingers flexed, comforted by the gloves she had on her hands.

It was as if the teams were splitting off into their own tasks. She wanted to be away from the telekinetic. If the mutant was one for torture, then it would be better if she stayed away from him. There was no telling what kind of poisons she would create if her body was in pain. How many people could she hurt, or worse, as her powers tried to defend her?

She noticed as they dispersed to follow out the tasks that they were given, there was even more branching than what was expected. Her eyes followed Dominic as he broke away from the group. She looked between him and the others as they all went on to do what they were tasked to do. If Blake noticed, she made a point to look at the team leader in a way that expressed that she would go too, and figure out what the next step would be. They were adults, she could do this.

Her footsteps were light as she went the same direction as Dominic, wondering what strove him to break off from the group. Perhaps clearing the streets wasn’t a bad idea, especially if others were focused on sweeping the surrounding apartment buildings and getting everyone behind the police barricades.

The alleys stirred up memories she had before she was taken into the mansion. She ran through alleys much like this, being hunted by the Brotherhood when Blake came in to intercept. That night she had to use her powers for the first time on someone in a long time. She didn’t like the feeling, but it was something that she could no longer fear. She needed to summon that courage again, to think that she would be able to be completely passive again was a pipedream.

When she finally found Dominic again, she stood back to watch the fight. Two gang members were trying their best to take down the mutant, though their efforts were ineffective when he disappeared and soon, they took one another out. It was over before it even seemed to begin. There were a few people hiding, gathered together, trying to protect one another from the brutish gang members.

They weren’t quiet as they scurried from inside of the building that they were hiding in, she too motioned to the direction that they should go, leading them to the police barricades. However, the sound attracted another member that approached, cautious and gun drawn. He didn’t have a bat or a stick like the others did, this one was more prepared.

"This is going to be a long night." He was close when he pulled back the hammer of the gun, the notable click was a tell of what was close to Dominic’s head. It was as if it punctuated Dom’s statement. “Not as long as ya’d hope,” his voice was gruff, low, and full of cockiness that would make anyone roll their eyes.

Luci was silent as she came up behind the man, her eyes on Dominic as she pulled her glove off and grabbed onto the back of the man’s neck, the smell of flowers blooming around her. Her grip was white knuckled tight as the man struggled for a moment before dropping the gun and collapsing. He twitched a few times before falling still.

Luci let out the breath she had been holding on to, her heart pounding in her chest. With her gloved hand, she knelt down and pressed her fingers into his pulse and waiting before she relaxed. “He’ll be paralyzed for a few hours.” When she stood again, she looked at Dominic, “You shouldn’t be off on your own.”

Admittedly, the man with the gun had caught him off-guard. He wasn't one for getting shot much less getting shot at. His training was sparse when it came to dodging bullets. Thankfully, though, his nostrils were greeted by that familiar, effervescent scent of flowers. Following the heavy thud on the ground below, a small half-smirk tugged at one side of his lips. "I didn't want to get blown up," he expressed with a small sigh. "I wanted to get shot instead." He motioned to the thug on the ground with a look of I'm joking written across it. He then stepped away from the body and her, giving them about an arm's length of space between them. Clearing his throat, he said: "All the rest of them...their powers are dangerous. And if they're anything like me, they don't have full control over them. I'd rather not be caught in their crossfire."

He motioned around him. "You're right; I shouldn't be alone." He closed the distance between them and stared down at her intently. "Luckily you're here with me, right?" His grin was coy and playful even in the midst of the situation that they found themselves in. He then turned and kicked the thug in the ribs. "You really should have just let him have it. Guys like these only know how to hurt people." He looked at her for a moment before realizing that he was advocating murder to a young woman who probably wouldn't hurt a fly if she could help it. "I mean...we should let the authorities pick him up. That's better."

He grabbed her wrist with a gloved hand and pulled her towards the direction of the fighting. "If we go further in, we're bound to find more people trying to escape. And I am betting you can do more than just make people sick." It was a slight jab at her from the night of the party. He still didn't know if it was that rancid cocktail of alcohol in the punch or her that did him in and he wasn't sure if he wanted to know. He liked Luci; he could tell she was good people. "Maybe you could make some kind of ointment or poultice, yeah?"

Darius probed the less than cooperative police officer for as much information as he could get, which wasn't much. He couldn't blame the man for being nervous around mutants, hell he might have been on his side a few years prior, back before he knew what he was. But he was playing for a new team and had a job to do, so once he was sure the man had nothing more for him, he nodded in appreciation and stepped off toward the chaos.

The sound of a familiar voice calling out to him, singling him out with one other student with a task, Darius's eyebrow furrowed. One look in Gracie's direction and he would see her doubled over and wincing in pain. He would quickly, and naturally, attribute this state to some sort of drawback to her powers, even if he still didn't understand just how they worked. Either way, she had given him the play, it was time for he and this "Plague" to execute as best they could. He let his eyes glance about until they met with the blonde who seemed to eye him critically with the most amused expression painted on her face as she greeted him with a flirtatious hook in her voice.

A smile curled across his face as he allowed his eyes to give the blonde a quick, shameless once-over, and liking what he saw. "Pleasure's mine, sweetheart." he responded with a low tone to his voice and a playful wink. The tall, toned mutant flashed a playful, knowing smile before nodding his head toward the action, as if to point their focus back to the task at hand. There would be plenty of time for "familiarities" later. Plague seemed to pick up on his cue as she quickly commented on the orders they'd been given about saving innocent randos. Darius chuckled lightly at the way she put it, but shrugged his shoulders lightly, she wasn't wrong.

Plague suggested getting to know each other, as to gel together on this mission a little easier. He was just about to suggest the same thing, as he heard her out by describing her own abilities, spreading disease by touch.
"Okay now THAT is ******** savage!" Darius blurted with an amused smile, <********, I mean so many things you can do with that! Hell, all I can do is regenerate. Literally rebound, I'm the guy who can take a hit and keep coming back." He kept it short and sweet like hers, no time for origin stories.

At Plague's comment about which direction to head into, Darius perked up, glancing about the area they were in, trying to get his bearings. "I mean, she told the others to go left... so I'mma say we goin..." Darius paused for a moment before pointing beyond the police tape to the right of all the gunfire, a nearby shopping complex. "...That way." Darius's dark eyes and confident smirk would fall upon the blonde as he would nod his head to one side. "You ready to ******** s**t up.... I mean.... help some random fools?"
