Henryk yawned as he was traveling a now vaguely familiar trail in the outskirts, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he did, his cane lightly tapping the ground, plants and trees....anything really to try to keep him focused and entertained. He had forgotten how far the secret base truly was from the academy, having gone there after separating from the class. It was also to distract him from the feeling the forest was out to get him...but it wasn't as bad this time. 'Maybe i'm finally getting used to it?' He thought to himself. It didn't seem to move even half as much as the last time he had been with Remus and Chloris. His stomach growled, distracting him from his thoughts. 'And...what I forgot today was to eat...' He thought sorrowfully for his stomach. He had made sure to pack all his gear as well as one very important item, and remembered to zip up his pants zipper, but had forgotten eating may have been a good idea. He had only realized it when he was halfway there and he didn't want to turn back at that point. So he had trudged on, believing he would get over the feeling...how wrong he had been. "Maybe they deliver pizza here? I do have my scroll..." Henryk thought to himself, hoping he made an amazing discovery. As he took out his scroll and began typing to order...he found that they were closed today. "Really!? My one day of need and you're closed! Ughh..." He said aloud, not able to contain his feeling of disbelief at his misfortune.
He began to hum to himself to try and distract his mind from his stomach, not really working, but not having much else to do. Still, it managed to keep him occupied enough that he found quicker than he could expect he was by the base but it was still sealed from the ground by briars. Thinking perhaps Chloris had left it like that for safety, he went to climb it....he then noticed Chloris sat under the tree just outside of it. Tilting his head he would walk over to his teammate that he knew the least about and talked the least with. Remus and Ella having been far more talkative than she was. Smiling, he would stop just before her and give her a performers bow. "Mornin' Chloris. I see we beat everyone else here. Why aren't you inside the base yet? Forget where I placed all my traps perhaps?" He would ask, being fairly cheery as he did so though having a slightly mischievous smile at the mention of his traps. Only now just remembering he had left them all armed. Not once did it cross his mind that she couldn't get in whenever she pleased. In the brief interim that he awaited a response from her, his stomach let out a particularly loud growl as he winced from hearing it and gave a sheepish grin. "Hehe...and by chance do you happen to have any food? I sort of...forgot to get breakfast..hehe..." He would add afterwards, slightly embarrassed to be asking but hoping she would be his savior. ✘ Post count: 18 ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄ OOC: At the secret base. Garret strode alone through the outskirts, taking the far less used and traveled paths. While usually there was an air of arrogance and adventure to him...there was only a dark silence to his presence. His spears gleamed in the morning light, strangely enough both of them being strapped to his back instead of Heir being held in his right hand like usual. Even his satchel was not where it usually remained. Instead, it was slung over his shoulder and neck on his right so that it was higher up on his body on his left side. No longer bouncing against him as freely as it usually had. While his eyes were constantly scanning the area around him and his ears alert, his mind was focused on entirely different matter. They were thinking back to the day prior. After Rachel had uppercut him, having just barely managed to keep Heir with him, he had landed not to far from the rescue team though at the other side of the beowolves. While he tried distracting them and fighting them off with the team...he hadn't been strong enough to save the two students who had perished once they returned. He had learned later that one in particular was to be used as bait, and had he known, he would have gone with her to protect her. Instead, even with his speed, he had found himself too far from her to reach her in time. What was worse was that even as they struck that specific beowolf down, another student had rushed forward to her body and been struck down by one of the other remaining ones. It had been a hard fight after...but they had succeeded in defeating them. 'But at what cost...' He thought to himself. He regretted suggesting to send those students out on a team to rescue Allister. If he had gone himself he may have prevented this from happening. Though that was a lie to feed his sorrow, and he knew it. He could not take down the ones who struck dusk and zed down alone, they were much stronger than the typical ones. No, the fault had lain in his own skill. He wasn't able to kill them alone. He had needed help. He was still the weak and pathetic child he had been when he was younger, the child who ran as his entire family died. The child who again and again had others sacrifice their lives for. The one who couldn't save anyone, not even himself. He regretted signing on for as an assistant. Things were so much much simpler when he was lone. No one depended on him. He didn't have to worry about failing anyone if he was alone. It was why he took the position he had here. It allowed him to work alone for the most part. Letting himself volunteer for the position earlier had been a grave mistake that students paid for their lives with.
Still walking his roundabout path, Garret would slowly reach behind him and remove Heir from his back. Ears listening for anything, he stopped looking all around him and focused his gaze on the spear and where he would immediately be walking. Looking at the intricate marking and blood red color of his weapon. His families weapon. Even with it he had failed. 'What kind of heir am I? My sister was the better fighter. I was merely the coward who lived longest.'He thought to himself, bringing back the pain of that night. Of watching his mother and father fight to protect them. Of watching them both fall. Of running once he realized what that meant, and leaving his sister alone to die. He could still hear his sisters final scream as he had ran away, hidden beneath his bed to hide from the monsters. He could still remember the day his mentor died. The day he gave his own life to save his own. 'So much sacrifice, and for what? A person who cannot even save a single life or his own.' Garret thought to himself. A lone tear escaping his eye. He had thoughts of leaving his position of the academy, of going back to his nomadic life. Of fighting Grimm until he fell in battle. 'At least that way I may atone for my failures.' He thought to himself. Had he only run in on the class by accident, this would not feel as bad as it did. But in joining as assistant, he had taken all their lives under his protection...and failed. He only barely noticed he had stopped long ago, having reached his destination as his conscious had sunk further and further into his mind. Shaking his head, and wiping his eyes briefly to dry them up, he would impale both Heir and Virtue into the ground in the crossed fashion of his family sigil in the center of the clearing. Taking off his satchel from around him, he would crouch low to the ground as he reached into it. What came out was not a red or white rose, nor any matter of equipment or device. What came out of it were two black roses. Staring at them for a moment, he placed both between his crossed spears. It was a color of rose he never took with him unless he had to. A color to mark his failings. They were the roses he used to mark those he couldn't save. Putting his satchel back on, he would scour around briefly for a log and place it near the two crossed spears and roses. A marking to their graves, warriors who had died in battle. Innocents who he had not been able to save. More casualties in their struggle for survival. More sacrifices in his path to redemption. Garret would bow his head, and keep vigil for a while in their memory. "I am sorry I failed you. May you rest in peace." He would simply say, knowing no other words to say and no words ever being enough to convey how he truly felt. ✘ Post count: 38 ✘Semblance timer: 0/5 ✘ Recharge: 1/5 ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
Chloris was enjoying the sounds of the forest and had been in such a deep meditative state while seated under the tree beside the briars that she had not heard the ram faunus approach her at first. Somehow, it was her subconscious and primal instincts that told her to be alert. Taking note of it, her big round eyes began blinking open and focusing. When she first laid eyes on someone, she jumped with a small yelp. She then glowered at him before sighing, his earlier words finally settling in and made her expression relaxed.
Seeing the young man's slightly sheepish as he asked her for food."If he wasn't so cocky every now and then, he might actually be charming."She then shook her head as she realized she had not spoken a word. Her cheeks slightly colored at this embarrassing realization before she spoke up."Sorry. Good morning, Henryk,"She greeted shyly, standing as she dusted herself off. Pondering, she remembered spotting a few edible plants and berries on her trip here."Well, I did see a few edible plants and berries. If you're not afraid to forage with me, we can go collect them,"She informed him with a playful smile, she figured she'd razz him just a little, but hoped he didn't get offended.

After Chloris and Henryk had a good fifteen minutes of quality alone time the sound of a snort could be heard. Plants could be heard rustling as the another snort and a nicker came through the trees. A minute after that a large horse came into view. The horse had a coat the color of bronze which when paired with it's size hinted at the source of it's name. Upon it's back rode Remus. As he came closer it was apparent he wasn't alone. He had brought Ella with him. He had insisted she come along and ride behind him after he woke her up. They would move faster being the big reason and they were running fairly late as is since unlike Henryk Chloris's kitten had allowed Ella to sleep in. He had more reasons for bringing his partner along with them. The horse was not only carrying them, but a pouch on one flank carried his weapon and arrow. The other had what looked like a sack. Inside it were some picnic supplies for later.
Remus pulled up on the reins as the horse neared the briers where the other two were waiting and chatting. He climbed down first and then helped Ella down if she needed the assistance. Once they were both safely on the ground he turned to the other two. "Good morning you two," He said in greeting since both were still sleep when he headed out earlier for the stables. "Glad to see we are all here safe and sound. So we going to head into the thicket now or...?" He trailed off for the others to speak up if there was anything they had in mind to do first before they went to their base on the inside of the brier patch.
Ella was nervous, she had never been on a horse before and wasn't sure how she felt about it. However, she decided to trust Remus and just try to enjoy it while it lasted, as they arrived to the other team Ella forced on a smile to both Henryk and Chloris - still feeling pretty shaken up after the events the previous day.
Ella accepted help down from the horse, she took Remus by the hand as she dropped down gently enough not to have to put too much pressure on his palm. She looked at her team and just wished inside that she could be more happy to see them, she just couldn't shake the image of Dusk being ripped apart out of her brain.
"Morning all..." she said, her tone was one of just 'ok' and nothing more, nothing less. Ella listened to Remus and his question, and shrugged looking at the rest. "I'm fine to do whatever, doesn't matter to me..." she answered, crossing her arms as she let out a slight sigh, feeling her side just to make sure her book was there - it made her feel better.
Henryk was not expressing the reaction he had initially gotten from Chloris. With a jump and yelp, followed not long after a glower and then relaxing a little, he wondered what it was that he said. 'Huh...Note to self. My team is very jumpy for some reason. Don't know about Remus yet...must explore that possibility further.' Henryk started thinking to himself, a very faint smile crossing his lips. He had honestly not intended to startle her, or ella...or anyone so far. He may try to for Remus, but he was currently innocent in his mind. Even though he still hardly knew most of them, something he hoped to fix today...He was starting to feel old ideas trickling into his head. He had wanted to get on friendly terms with everyone first and had sort of repressed his more mischievous side. Doing it from off the bat...Usually did not end well for him in his experience. It wasn't of malice or trickery that he didn't show that part of him from the beginning...but he did still want to be friends with everyone post prank. It was sort of an unspoken consequence when he befriended others. Already a few thoughts were circulating in his head...
He blinked himself, realizing he had temporarily become lost in his thoughts. Seeing Chloris shake her head as well, he worried if it was because she had asked something, got lost in thought like him or.... 'Oh!' He said in his mind as he remembered his question about food. Immediately, what was once forgotten came back with a force to be reckoned with. His hunger, having left his mind briefly, suddenly flooded him as it very loudly growled and he grimaced. 'Maybe I should have stayed lost in thought.' He thought ruefully. All his schemes and plans for pranks now vacating his mind like a stampede. He could even internally hear his stomach starting to digest itself. However, her cheeks soon colored after...and said good morning and sorry? 'Wait...maybe she got lost in thought too...if so she may have food!' The expression on his face immediately rose with hope, hope that his stomach was not going to leave him dead and dying on the floor. She soon stood, dusting herself off, and seemed to be lost in thought. Internally, Henryk was chanting. 'Food. Food. Food. FOOD!' In hopes that by believing enough, it could change reality so she had food. Though she didn't have any currently she knew some edible plants...Better than nothing...but her next suggestion made him narrow his eyes slightly. 'Am I that obvious...I thought I hid it well.' He thought to himself. If she knew he had a fear of going through the forest, she may use it for revenge for a prank. Still not making a certain connection in his head. He would shake his head and puff his chest out dramatically as he responded. "Afraid? Hah. I grew up in the sand jungle, no forest is going to scare me of!" He would respond, very obviously over-exaggerating but trying to keep in character, and hoping it did not inspire any ideas from her.
He was about to tell her to lead the way, or point him in the right direction, when he heard the sound of a snort and plants rustling. Surprised, Henryk spun around to face the general direction of the noise. His hand lightly taking out his cane from its rope strap on his back that he used to carry it when not trying to use it for walking. His usual carefree and flamboyant aura dissipating almost instantly, replaced with a more cautious and serious one. After what happened the other day, he was not taking chances. Not while he had a team member with him. The sounds continued to come closer, more plants being moved or crushed, even a nicker...which didn't sound hostile but Henryk remained wary. He didn't know all the forms of animals Grimm could take, and as such he remained alert and silent. It was about a minute later when the source of it appeared. It was... "A horse!" He exclaimed excitedly upon seeing it, the seriousness of moments earlier completely evaporating. Seeing Remus riding it, and Ella behind him, made Henryk wave enthusiastically towards the two of them with a smile on his face. Remus would dismount, and like the knight nickname he called himself, would help Ella down. Giving some ideas for pranks he could use that prey off of a chivalrous nature...though he didn't know how far his extended. Something he would have to test out later.
Remus would say good morning to the two of them, then ask if they were going into the thicket. Ella would also say good morning, and say she was fine with whatever...but give off a weird vibe. Maybe she had hit him harder than he thought the other day...But she didn't seem as cheery as before. As she crossed her arms and let out a sigh...Henryk figured something must be up. Whether it was the events of the other day or something else, he was not sure. He would have to fix that in the near future, he couldn't have his teammates being left miserable. And then, before he could be motivational or anything...His stomach spoke for him as it growled very loudly. Smiling sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head with a slight pained expression, he would speak a little meekly. "Well, me and Chloris were going to go scavenger hunting for some food she saw earlier...but would any of you happen to have any food so we could eat in the safety of the base instead?" Henryk asked, tone slightly pleading for it to be true. The large horse they came on had a pack on its side, and he hoped it was stuffed with food. He could eat the entire horse at this point...He still had his circus cane in hand, lightly having it rest against his leg as he awaited an answer. ✘ Post count: 19 ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄ OOC: At the secret base. Chloris had enjoyed the fact that she could see him a little uneasy; which only made it more obvious when he was bolstering confidence. A small smile played her lips at this thought. Looks like she was going to be one of the pranksters in this team."Of cooourse not."She said with with giggle at the end. Though she was not deaf to the sounds of his stomach yelling at him and felt a little hungry herself. Absently, her own hand went to her stomach at the thought.
Thoughts of food evaporated when they both heard a rustling further back in the forest. The light atmosphere now turned serious and alert as they both seemed to ready their weapons. Expression solemn, but glaring slightly from the memory of the day before; she would not let her teammate die, not on her watch. The tense minute felt stretched...until there was a familiar sound, and this creature wasn't rushing in their direction. A horse then appeared and she relaxed, placing the quarterstaff back against the tree. Looking up, she saw two familiar and welcome faces; relief flooded through her."Jeez lueez, Remus, you scared the bejeezus outta me,"She said with a small frown, her accent becoming more apparent in her moment of agitation. A small smile then graced her lips as they both dismounted. He really was a knight, to a degree.
Seeing Ella being a little uneasy, she smiled softly."I am glad to see you two are safe though,"She continued before looking to Henryk who answered Remus' question. Thinking about it, she shook her head, not really liking the idea of a made meal. She enjoyed nature's gifts of the berries and nuts that might grow in here."Ah, also, good morning...Um, well, I'm gonna go forage. You may join me,"She offered then thought of something and smiled at the thought. Taking the quarterstaff she had crafted the day before, she walked toward their other female teammate, Ella."Here you go Ella, you may have it. It will help with walking through the tougher terrain,"She said, not sure how the girl would react, but wanted to be kind all the same.

Remus watches how Ella hugs herself. A slight frown dominates his face for a moment as he recalls how she looked when he woke her up for the day. She didn't exactly have blood shot eyes or bags under them but it was very clear that if she had another night or two like that one she would start to. He couldn't blame her. He couldn't blame the others either for their nerves. At least he could tell that under her clothes the hard edges that marked the corners and edges of the newest book Ella had taken for reading had calmed her some. It was a good sign. He turned his attention to Chloris then and put up his right hand while smiling sheepishly. "Sorry about that, but I have my reasons." He remarked swiftly before turning his head to Henryk as he spoke up about the plans the two had been considering before they had arrived.
Henryk's attention seemed to find its way to the saddle pack hanging off Colossus's right side. Remus twisted the reins once around his hand before he crossed in front of his mount to get to the side with the pack. "I had packed some stuff we could have for a picnic lunch. But alas you aren't out of luck entirely Henryk. Since I figured we might be doing some more base building, non-defensive building this time that is, I also packed some granola bars." Remus was still rummaging through the pack for another twenty seconds or so after he finished speaking before he found what he was after. He pulled out some simple looking packages. With them in hand he went over to Henryk. He lead the horse along with him as he went and the tall chestnut steed eclipsed the two from view from the girls while Remus was handing off the goods. Granola bars of course were no five star feast but they were better than nothing and would likely work to tame the hunger until lunch time. "Here you go Henryk. Also," He lowered his tone to keep the next part between them. "During your days in the circus did you ever do any acts on animal back or ride horses? I didn't think it was outside the realm of possibility, just hope it is something you can at least manage for a while. I'm sure you remember when I mentioned my mount that I brought to the school." He gestured to the horse beside them. "The girls wanted to see him sure, but that's not the main reason I brought him along today. After yesterday I figured we might need to have a way to leave fast. So I was hoping you would be able to grab Ella and ride her out on Colossus here while I take Chloris out on one of my summons."
After their conversation was finished Remus lead the steed over to the edge of the brier wall. He held up some extra packs of granola bars. "There's some more if you girls want some too." He said after Chloris had handed the quarterstaff from the other day over to Ella. He would feel safer if the foraging for other stuff was handled inside, but he had only seen so many bushes in there. The stuff would surely be more bountiful out here. Hopefully the granola bars with their grains and sweet honey would be enough to tempt Chloris. If not Remus would speak up with a suggestion. "It would be best to stick together, so don't wander too far so we can keep eye contact with each other." It was probably clear from yesterday that Remus was the type to have plans and safety margins for the actions he takes. Someone who would strive to work with Henryk to keep the team safe with the same planning and safety mindedness. But he was definitely more cautious than normal thanks to yesterday's un-idyllic, bloody ending.
Ella listened to Henryk, she really didn't mind what they did however as his stomach started to growl to be fed, so did hers. She let out a little cough in an attempt to cover up the noise, however realised that she was only drawing more attention to herself. "The book... yes, it's there.." she thought, as her right hand once again skimmed the book on her waist, comforting herself once more. "It would appear I am also hungry.. so anything with food would be appreciated." she said, placing her left hand on her stomach and then bringing It back down to her side as she was approached closely by Chloris. Ella had yet to really get to know this teammate, but she seemed to be a kind soul so far.
"Oh, thank you.." she said, as she took the crafted staff from Chloris. Ella appreciated it a lot more than she could show at the moment due to her feeling so down, but a small, gentle smile appeared on her face to show Chloris she liked her gift. She held the staff in her left hand at her side, and listened to Remus discuss a way to escape from a situation, she shuddered at the thought of the same scenario happening again.
"I'd like a bar, please Remus" she said, a little quieter than she usually spoke. She moved closer to him with her hand out, in the hope of receiving one of the bars. She had totally missed breakfast which wasn't normally like her, since she had read in a book how important breakfast was she didn't want to make her mood or state even worse for the day and become a burden to her team.
Ella would follow what her team wanted to do, she was just happy to be out in the fresh air and in the distance she could hear water from a stream - another favourite thing that comforted her.
'I'm saved!' Henryk thought to himself as Remus mentioned bringing food for a picnic for lunch. Sure, it would be a bit of a stretch to say now was lunch...but if they all believed it was lunch it had to count right? He was just happy someone had brought food with them, a way to not have to go into the forest and be called on his bluster and bravado. He would, if pressed, but he really didn't want to go back there even if it was more peaceful this time around. He had the idea the forest was just trying to make him look bad in front of the others. Still...Henryk felt his heartbreak when instead of saying, 'Sure Henryk, you can get some now' Remus instead said he could have granola bars... 'Bleh, for breakfast? We have a feast...why can't we just eat early...' He mentally grieved in his mind. He had no clue how far away lunch was, this roller coaster of emotions making him forget he even brought his scroll temporarily which would have been an easy way to check.
While he did accept the granola bar, internally Henryk was crying in sorrow at the turn of events. He wanted something with flavor, preferably spicy, not something boring and bland! Taking a bite of it didn't help as he felt his mouth go dry almost immediately... 'THIS IS MAKING THINGS WORSE!' He thought in his mind, his expression in on the outside going from ecstatic, to disappointed, to slight shock as his eyes went wide from how dry it made his mouth. Shaking his head, and realizing how obvious that may have been, he gave a sheepish smile...and stowed the rest of the bar away into a pocket. 'If I find water or i'm about to die of starvation...then maybe.' He reasoned to himself. Still, despite making his mouth feel as dry as Vacuo, it did help with his endless hunger enough that his stomach would leave him alone for a few moments...though he feared what may happen once it finished it. He could last...he had to before in the past...but that was a long time ago.
It was then, blinded by gluttony and a will to survive, he noticed the fact that Remus had brought the giant horse with him, easily taller than Henryk himself. For a moment he just remained staring at the big beast, not even really being able to see past it with how tall it was. Well, unless he ducked down to look form underneath it but everyone else may get the wrong idea from doing that...Mentally shaking the thought from his head, he heard Remus begin to speak in a very low tone as he shifted his focus to him. When he mentioned if he had ever ridden on the backs of horses, he gave the man a confused look but nodded as he heard him out. He had ridden horses before...but as he kept speaking Henryk didn't know if he should mention how he had. Because there was the way knights did it... 'And then there was the way performers did.' He added in his head. Still, it seemed like Remus was depending on him for it with his plan... 'It may be fun to play the white knight.' Henryk thought to himself jokingly, understand the seriousness of the situation, but his own nerves making him joke to himself. It was how he dealt with stress, making jokes about everything so he didn't have to deal with it. Once Remus finished he would nod and respond, starting off serious...before a hint of the performer in his took over at the end. "I can do that. I won't let any harm come to you guys so long as I can help it. Besides...I may be able to steal your title of white knight if it happens. Think I could get a fancy horse and armor to go with the look?" He would say, in a low tone like Remus and having a small smile at the face at the end of it, showing that he mostly meant it in jest...mostly.
Remus soon moved away with the very large horse to the wall, offering a granola bar. Henryk having missed Ella's own growl due to the secrecy oh his and Remus' conversation behind the tall horse. He did notice Chloris giving a staff to Ella, who seemed to very much like the gift. It was a bit heartwarming to see everyone looking out for each other...as he felt a sudden desire from his more mischievous side to break it up into laughter on his end....and probably some angry chasing from the others. But he refrained for now. He wanted to ease into things with them a bit in the base itself, his idea of a game hopefully making everyone less tense and happier...and because the idea seemed really fun to him. He then dimly realized after Chloris gave the staff to Ella, who went to get one of the bars Remus had offered...was still intent on going to the forest. Looking down at his pocket with the majority of the granola bar left over, and feeling his stomach rapidly eating away at the piece he did eat...He sighed as he realized he had little in the way of options. Remus mentioned the pros of staying together, or at least being nearby...He was unsure what Chloris would do for sure, but he decided to offer a bit of a compromise? "Chloris, could you please open up the briar wall? That way anyone who wants to stay at the base can get in. Remus, Ella, if you guys want to join us feel free to, but if not maybe you two could set up here first? It shouldn't be long to collect a few things if Chloris does want to go, and I sort of agreed to before you got here. Cant really go back on my word now hehe. Plus with you two back here, if anything happens we can come back quickly to the safety of the base this way or if you leave one of your scouts with us, you can get the drop on anything that comes after us." Henryk would pause here, being far too serious for his liking. He didn't want to leave them super worried. He wanted them at ease. "I don't exactly have the best taste in home decorating...So if you don't want something crazy or over the top you may want to have an idea on how to design your areas. If anyone is undecided by the time we get back...I may get creative." Henryk added, jokingly threatening to make probably embarrassing or horrible looking areas for everyone. He sincerely hoped that it would take the tension away from everything. He walked over to Chloris and turned his gaze to her. "Ready to depart at your lead my guide." Henryk would say with a slightly goofy smile, giving her what he at least believed was a sailor salute. He would follow wherever she decided to guide him, or anyone else who was joining. He did remember he was supposed to guide Ella but...He did want to get to know the most reclusive of all his team mates. He also had a reputation to uphold in showing he would brave the forest. Also...if he stayed in the base there was no guarantee all the food for the picnic wouldn't be missing before long. He kept that part to himself though. Then, oddly enough, he remembered how Chloris didn't believe all his bluster and giggled...as if she was hoping things may go bad. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to go alone with her...she may just laugh at him...but having no real semblance that he could use right now, at least that he could tell from his group, he did need someone like her.

Chloris looked to Remus as he reported that he had packed a picnic for lunch after apologizing. She was glad to hear that, but she still desired a look around for Nature's gifts. Chloris' attentions would turn to the horse momentarily though. So when Remus spoke to Henryk, she was not really paying much attention to them until addressed again. Albeit, indirectly. She always enjoyed her mornings with freshly gathered ingredients, and she was not going to stop now. As sweet as the offer of a granola bar was."Thank you Remus, but I politely decline,"She replied with a gentle smile. Though she knew he meant well, especially after yesterday, she would not let such events scare her from exploring.
The petite young woman was pleased that Ella appreciated the gift. She thought it would do her well to be armed. Just in case. Chloe then looked to the boys with a casual mossy-green gaze before she walked back to her belongings. Gathering them, she placed her backpack on her back before she would turn and face the trio. Her expression was calm but it was clear, she had made up her mind."I still wish to go."
She smiled slightly before she would turn her eyes upon their leader now. So demanding! She thought with slight surprise. Okay, it wasn't really a demand as much as a suggestion, she reasoned, amused. With a shrug, she figured he had a valid point; she did not wish their teammates to be out in the open anymore than he did.
"Will do, Captain,"She replied and turned her attentions to the briars. And just as the day before, a pale green aura surrounded her small form and the thorny vines begin to move, making an opening for them to enter the clearing within."Be ready to go when they are safe inside. I will appreciate the company, Henryk,"She told the ram faunus when he had told her he was ready to depart when she was.

Remus could of just about burst out laughing at the look Henryk had given him when the food he could have went from being a picnic meal to just a few grainy bars. The look persisted right through the few bites of it the guy had actually taken. Remus of course couldn't understand all that. He actually rather enjoyed these things as far as a light snack went. Henryk pocketed what was left of the bar he had opened and the others he had been given. After which they continued onto the more important matter at hand. Their leader was taking it seriously. Despite that though this nature still leaked through at the end. Remus chuckled softly at the remark the other had made about the plan. A little laughter was good to take the edge of their nerves. Remus clapped Henryk on the shoulder. "I wouldn't count on that." Remus said in regards to Henryk joking about riding off with Remus's white knight reputation in the event of him having to ride out of here with Ella. "I don't actually wear armor anyway, though I don't think it would help you either." He said back jokingly in regard to how Henryk just didn't fit the image he was hoping to heist. Tension relieving jests aside so long as they could get the girls and themselves all out of here in one, hopefully unbleeding, piece then Henryk was welcome to try being the white knight all he wanted.
After they had split up Ella joined Remus. He placed a couple packs of the granola bars into Ella's outstretched hand after she came over. A warm, "You most certainly may have some," coinciding with him handing over some food to Ella. Hopefully she took to them better than Henryk had. He was a little curious about why she had been so quiet about asking him for some. Ella wasn't exactly noisy to begin with. Not that he was aware of the displeasure her stomach had been voicing after he had let her down and gone to talk with Henryk. It was possible she was embarrassed about what the others might of heard. Remus looked up from Ella as Chloris also chimed in on the bars. Based on her expression she wasn't one to be disappointed by granola bars but her heart seemed most set upon the bounties of nature. Having declined the offer from him Remus shrugged. He returned all but one of the extra bars to the pack on Colossus. The pack he kept he opened. One bar within he ate quickly, the other he held up in offering before the horse. The big animal nudged its snout into his hand while sniffing at it. The next moment those lips were gathering up the bar of oats and the horse was eating it. Remus pat the side of the horses neck and then returned to Ella's side.
As he took up a spot beside Ella Henryk was talking. He seemed to be volunteering to go out to scavenge for even more food with Chloris. He also suggested that she open up the path into their base. They would tend to the gathering themselves and Remus and Ella could head on ahead if they wanted. His idea wasn't a bad one. He even suggested taking one of Remus's summons along with them as an escort if they split up between. Remus looked down at the top of Ella's head beside him. "What do you think? I'll go wherever you go as there is merit in either course of action. If we head into the base we might very well be able to get a fire going by the time they get back."
Ella and Remus head into the base.
Remus nods after Ella gave her decision. He looked over to Henryk and Chloris as his right arm shot up to jab himself in the chest with his thumb before rolling his wrist and flicking out his index finger to point at Ella in a smooth action. "Leave getting the set up started to us." He grinned confidently, sure of their ability. After all Ella and him had already succeeded in erecting a monument of architecture on the beach. A simple yet comfy base shouldn't be beyond them. All the same the moment Chloris tended to opening the path through the briers was accompanied by the rise of spectral creatures. A wolf to trot over beside Chloris to accompany them in their quest and a number of foxes that took off into the surrounding woods for reasons only Remus knew. He followed behind Ella through the path to the thicket's center, leading Colossus along behind him. Once inside he would find a good place to tie the horse up to where it could graze without fear of stripping a place of little vegetation bare. After that was tended to he headed for the most center part of the clearing with a trench shovel he had taken from the pack on Colossus. As he passed Ella he spoke up about where the traps were that she would need to avoid while also asking her what she thought of this private team space they had found the other day.
Ella and Remus tag along with the others.
Remus nods after Ella gave her decision. "All together then." He lead Colossus over to a nearby tree that wasn't nearly as old as most of the others. It had a convenient low branch that was chest high on him. He wrapped the reins around it and made sure it was secure so that Colossus couldn't pull them loose easily. The horse didn't seem to have a care in the world really as it started grazing upon the tall grass at the base of the tree's trunk after Remus moved off. "I'll check this area here." He said while pointing in the direction he was claiming as his to search.
Chloris would continue to make her path through the briars thorny vines as they would walk further inside. She was not sure what they were going to do, but whichever they chose once they were inside, she hoped they would be safe. Once inside, she stepped off to the side to allow both Ella and Remus, and the knight's horse entrance. Looking to the trio, she smiled warmly. It would appear that half of their group would be staying, which was confirmed by their adorably shy bookworm; which she thought of it in the most positive way possible."You two be safe and Henryk and I shall be back soon,"She told them, watching the fox spirits go off to do their things. It was a pleasant surprise to find a wolf spirit accompanying her, turning to her teammates, she waved slightly. "See ya." And with that, she exited the clearing, the briars closing behind her as she left; backpack on her back and quarterstaff in hand.
Once out of the base, she turned to the ram faunus, though she had to look up since he was considerably taller than herself. With the wolf beside her now, she felt a little calmed by its presence. Smiling to her team leader, she would use her quarterstaff to point toward the western path."I saw some berries just about a few yards that way. And I've been told this forest's trees contain a certain sweet syrup that might be nice to try and collect,"She informed him casually.
"Come on, I'll make us some baskets when we get there."She then began her journey in the direction she had pointed out, though the petite young woman didn't seem afraid that there might be danger the further they went. She trusted the wolf that Remus sent with them, that he would forewarn them of any dangers heading their way. Like a scout should do. As she had promised, she would find a few bushes with plump and scrumptious-looking red and black berries. And finding a pair of long and pliable branches on the ground, she would set her quarterstaff against a tree, sitting down beneath its canopy and use her semblance in order to form the first one into a small fruit gathering basket before doing the same with the other.

As Chloris replied with a will do captain, something Henryk never thought he would hear himself being addressed as, he saw a green aura surround her as she began to clear the path. He tilted his head curiously as he just watched her work for a moment. 'She seems to have a green thumb. Did she always glow green when she used her semblance? How out of it was I the last time I was here that I didn't notice...' He questioned to himself, wondering if this was a new thing or just a fault in his own memory. Which it was likely to be the latter if he was being honest with himself. He also resisted saying the joke out loud, something told him with the vibe she gave off she would not appreciate the jest...and she had a lot to work with if he got her ticked off. Still, it was good to know she turned green. It would give them an opportunity to find ways to hide it in the future so it would be less noticeable... 'Though if we are surrounded by plants, maybe its better that she has a green aura to blend in?' He questioned himself. Shrugging, internally and externally, he figured he would figure out if it was relevant later. He had other things to deal with currently. It didn't spring to his mind quite yet of another use this information had as he saw Ella decided to stay, with Remus getting all flashy in saying they would set up the base. Henryk tried to frown at that...but Remus' confident grin was infectious as Henryk grinned back at him. He still wanted to learn more of his team, but the bits and pieces he was getting in the meantime only made him like them more.
Henryk's attention was drawn to Chloris as she told him to be ready to leave as soon as they were in there. To which he nodded, it would be best for them to work fast and get back to the safety of the base. Both from the danger of the Grimm and the forest itself. Hearing her mention gratitude at his company...was unexpected and nice. She still hadn't seen the side of him that tended to get on others nerves, none of them had, but he liked the sentiment. He rarely was told so outside of performances or when people were unaware he was one, so it felt honestly nice. Pretty quickly, Remus was working his magic again. A bunch of foxes spread off into the forest, Henryk guessed to scout around for dangers and maybe even places to collect berries, as well as one of the cool wolfs from earlier! He had to resist the urge just to pet the wolf as it traveled besides chloris. 'Aww...why does she get her own wolf...No fair...' He pouted internally, still keeping a smile on his face...mostly because the thought of the wolf at all travelling with them outweighed that disappointment. Seeing Chloris give her goodbyes and begin to close the briars, Henryk did his own. "See you two in a bit. Try not having too much fun without us, and don't forget to make the statue in all our honor!" Henryk would say with a wide grin on his face, very obviously joking about the monument as the briars sealed the base away seconds later. Once that was done, he turned his gaze to Chloris, only to find her gaze was already on him as he looked down to her... 'Wait...Since when was I tall...or her short...I'm used to being the short one...Is this how being tall feels like?' Henryk wondered to himself, slightly liking the feeling of not being the smallest for once. Though utterly confused on how to deal with it, or if it meant he had to be one of those jocks... 'Nah, Remus is taller. He can do that.' Henryk reasoned to himself. Her pointing her staff snapped him out of his thoughts as he noticed her smile and she began to speak. She mentioned berries not far away and sap that was supposedly very good. Looking off as if in thought, mostly for effect as his mind was fairly empty now, he would smile back to her and nod. "Sounds good." He would say, consenting to her route and plan. As she mentioned making baskets, Henryk only then realized he would've had to carry them by hand otherwise. Rubbing the back of his head he would smile sheepishly. "Probably...Don't think my shirt would survive so many berries without a very thorough cleaning afterwards." He would simply respond, with a small laugh at the end.
Henryk followed Chloris' along the path, as despite her saying it was near...he was not risking getting lost in this forest. Not after the first time, and not for a while at the least. Still, with Chloris in the lead and the wolf with them...Henryk felt a little more relieved. The forest was not acting up this time either, which helped with Henryk's nerves. Very quickly they found bushes with a lot of red and black berries that actually looked fairly juicy and tasty. Giving a glance to her, he would casually pick up a pair of the two as she seemed to go for sticks. Cocking his head to the side as she sat against a tree, his unspoken question would be answered as she saw her begin to make it into the baskets she had promised earlier. He was very tempted just to pop the berries into his mouth while he waited...but he didn't want to speak with his mouth full as he did want to talk to Chloris. Even as his hunger was telling him to forget everyone and just eat. Barely resisting, he would walk over to her...still holding the two berries to eat once he was done. "So Chloris, we haven't talked much. I plan to with the others soon, but seeing as we are gathering food for now and Remus can get to know Ella a bit better as we do...Mind if we talk and forage so we can get to know eachother a little better? I promise it won't be too invasive, and that it will only last until we have gathered about as much as we can carry...I can always find your out about your deepest darkest secrets later, muahahah." Henryk would ask with a smile on his face, genuine in wanting to talk and get to know Chloris. As he did everyone else. And he couldn't help but jokingly tease her at the end of it, not one for keeping things serious for long. "Like...we can start off simple...Say how you found out what your semblance was and all it can do? You can ask me anything in return as well." He would add, curious and not fully thinking of the repercussions of the questions. In his mind, he knew he would have a chance for the other types later...so he was content just to ask her about this for now. He also, no longer being able to resist, popped the two berries in his mouth...before pausing in his chewing as he looked to her, moving them to his right cheek as he spoke again...trying not to spit any out...yet. "These berries are safe...right...?" He asked with slight worry in his voice, hoping they both were edible and good. ✘ Post count: 21 ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄ OOC: o.o please don't let the forest eat me- I mean I'm brave!
After an hour, two, half that, Garret finally moved. He did not know how long he truly spent there in vigil, of being near the spot of those he failed. It didn't really matter how long it was, he had only intended to stay for as long as it felt right. Any longer or shorter would be dishonorable to their memory. Feeling enough time of grieving had passed, he rose from his seat atop the logs. His eyes scanned across the clearing, not seeing any sign of Grimm nor human as he did. It was a slight pity, he could have used something such as combat to get his blood boiling and his spirits lifted. It also left his task unfinished. His right hand reached for the pommel of Heir, the other for Virtue's. Both gripping them tightly in his hands. He had not intended to only grieve for those that were departed. Grieving did nothing to bring back the dead. Words, intentions, they were all noble concepts...but they accomplished nothing in the end. Nothing, if they were not coupled with actions. The Grimm had caused this. He had failed to kill the Grimm. If there had been less Grimm that day, this all may have been avoided somehow. They may have yet lived. Even if they hadn't, even if it couldn't bring them back...less Grimm only meant others may not have to share the same fate as they. That was what he had left unfinished. What he needed to do before he could allow them to rest in peace. He needed to finish what was started. They said an eye for an eye left the world blind, but if you were to not retaliate whatsoever, would you lose both your eyes instead? Would the one who did this be allowed to do so to others? Not while Garret had any say in the matter. Not while he could fight, while he could breathe...Justice needed to be had.
'For those I could not save, for those who died for me...Give me strength, that I may avenge those I have failed.' He thought quietly in silent prayer as he pulled both Heir and Virtue simultaneously from the ground. His eyes were dead set and determined. His usual arrogant grin gone. He had spent enough time inactive, enough time resolving himself. Today, two Grimm died. One for each of the lives that were taken. And anymore afterwards for all the other lives lost that he was unaware of. As many Grimm as he could kill. After all, it was his purpose. Kill Grimm, and reclaim his land. He could not die till then. He would not allow it of himself. But the only way to do so was to carve a path through these beasts. Make them suffer for all the pain they had inflicted on others. They may not live as far as he knew, but they felt pain. They could die. And right now, as he felt the anger coursing through him, thats all that mattered. As long as he could end their lives, the deaths of the day prior would have some meaning. As long as they were avenged, they could rest peacefully. Putting his satchel back on, Garret would set off. Not deeper into the outskirts but closer to the the city itself. The school was well guarded in its grounds, the city had to hide behind its walls and gate. But not today. No, today it is the Grimm who would have to hide. The Grimm who would have to fear. For today, Garret joins the hunt. Today, the Grimm are his prey.
Garret set off almost silently through the vast forest, towards where he knew the town to be. He had traversed these woods many times since he reached Vale, having spots where he set up camp as well as others where he could have a decent lookout. He knew the majority of it like the back of his hand, and it was his hunting ground. He had leave to do such things from the academy when he deemed fit. He had alerted them as much that he would be unavailable, at the very least for this day. He intended to hunt as many as he could in his time. And spend more of his time out here to hunt in the future. Had he been more active, perhaps there numbers may have diminished. He did not truly believe so, but the thought burned in his mind. 'They shall suffer for what they've done.' He vowed to himself in his mind. Part of him wanted to be loud, to purposefully attract as many as he could to him in that manner. But he knew better. He had underestimated Grimm before, and it had always ended in tragedy. He many be arrogant when he fought them, but he respected their strength as much as he despised them. It would not do for him to die in such a way. No, he would hunt them as he should. Moving quietly through the forest, all senses alert for ambush or discovery of another creature. Catching one unaware would be best. They did not deserve the usual honor of a fair fight after what had transpired. They deserved to be slaughtered. Partway through, nearing the city itself, Garret would slow down even more having reached his desired hunting ground. Crouching, moving from cover to cover, he hunted for Grimm. ✘ Post count: 39 ✘Semblance timer: 0/5 ✘ Recharge: 2/5 ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
