I get upset when people bag on it. I mean its the very definition of a sport.

So yeah... its a sport, and one of the oldest team sports. It deserves respect!

crying I used to have to defend curling a lot, especially in high school. I think it's reputation has improved in the last few decades as teams recognized the advantages of being more fit. It also helps that doubles was taken on by the Olympics, so there are more events going on.
Whoops! I forgot, I teach curling tomorrow morning, so I can't leave town. You should hop on the plane and get over here instead!
The only downside with the name is many people not familiar with the sport tend to think of a curling iron. lol

Sorry to hear that. Sprains are definitely a pain. I've had a sprain/strain in my foot/ankle trying to heal since two days before Christmas so I do feel for you. *hugs* Unfortunately, sprains take around 6 weeks or longer to heal up with ice, heat, and rest.
