"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."It was almost therapy to the sea-green haired son of a Nekata to beat the crap out of a few offending demons, clear out the second floor of the Mist Wall Tower, and then take a breath after a job well done with his younger sister. She was even more efficient than he had been clearing out the place, killing a devil that some big-wig in the Cathedral of Shadows App was paying out good Tokens to see bite the dust. All the more money to get better demons, he supposed, so there was no reason not to do it. Still, he rolled his shoulder once as he glanced towards the next staircase and considered how high they could make it in the Tower today if they worked at a reasonable pace. Just guessing that there were some devils to fight on every single level, it would take them...a couple of days to get to the top, fighting at this rate. It was a long time, but when you considered the benefits of having your own skyscraper and all, having a safe haven for you and others in a world that was as wrecked as this one, it was actually not the worst proposition he could come up with. Not to mention the previously-considered benefit of the highest lookout tower in the city to see oncoming threats. But they would have to take breaks, such as this one. And listening to his sister reminisce about her own twin and the more reserved companion of hers, son of the old village's Sealing Specialist, their Aunt Nana, well...it could manage to stir a little nostalgia even in him.
"Evie could talk him into anything, really," he smirked as he twirled his bat in his hand, remembering how much trouble those two had gotten into for that one and the stories that they had heard of their exploits even before they had come to the village. As cute and innocent as they were, they were actually a pair of little hellraisers in their own right. "Still, can't take them lightly. Anybody who can call out a Lucifer, by accident or no, is a summoner worth his name. I imagine two or three of us in our generation could have been Kuzunoha if the world hadn't gone to s**t."Quote: 23 Tokens

"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."Two Floors.
That had been all that they cleared in the Mist Wall yesterday before things had gotten too dark to risk going higher up in the Tower for the day. Kyouko needed the rest after the day she'd had, nearly dying at the hands of that red-haired devil earlier in the afternoon as well, even if she would never admit that to either he or Kyou. But now that the morning had come and the activity on the upper levels was getting a bit louder, it was time to strike out from their current base and try harder to ascend towards the very top of this building. Their own skyscraper...it was almost a ridiculous notion when you thought about it but in this world gone mad, anything was possible if you had the initiative and enough power. And this...this was a true test of their strength, just the three Nekatas against an entire Tower full of demons, devils, bandits, fiends and all sorts of nefarious things. It was enough to get the blood boiling, and to get even the likes of Kou Nekata, notorious late-sleeper, out of bed early in the morning to take the challenge head-on. He was already polishing the nails and the smooth oak of his weapon by the time that the others would have gotten out of bed in the morning. Glancing over to the couches they had dragged from the lobby up to the 2nd Floor where they decided to sleep overnight, he smirked at them and stood, heading towards the staircase to the 3rd Floor with the intent to get an early start on the climb.
One fight at a time, one enemy at a time, one floor at a time. They would reach the top of this Tower if they had to kick every last a** inside of it to do so.Quote: 33 Tokens

Kyouko Nekata, The Seafoam Guardian of the North  She had been exhausted, more than she cared to admit. When Kou had suggested to camp there in the second floor, the teal haired girl had agreed with a nod, before promptly collapsing on the couch there. Kyouko didn't know when she had fallen asleep. She was stubborn, telling her brother that she could have the first watch, but her eyelids had felt like lead, and before she could recall more old memories from their time in the village, the girl had fallen into a dreamless sleep.
The younger Nekata was a light sleeper though, and when noises from the upper rooms started bouncing off the bare walls of the second floor, she startled back up, a scowl in her pretty face. "Who's making that hellish noise? Can't no one sleep peacefully in here?!" Of course not. It was the End of the World.
The girl grumbled and stood back up, stretching and taking her weapon in her hand just catching a glimpse of Kou already fresh and shining, full of energy. It was weird for him, really...he was the one who slept the most... But, well, these weren't normal times, right?
On her part...she had woken up in a bad mood. She always did whenever something woke up before time. Mumbling and grumbling, Kyouko followed behind Kou...her whip cracking on the floor at the sight of the demon blocking her path up. "Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."He didn't hear her get up behind him so much as he simply felt that she had joined him, but before he could speak a word to her he could hear whatever was making such a ruckus upstairs on the third floor starting to creep closer towards the door to the 2nd. His adrenaline began to pump through his body and fill him with a fight-or-flight energy that really only had the former option available in his mind. And then something else began to flow through his body, a power boost to herald his excitement for a new day of fights, survival, and eventually, the conquest of an entire skyscraper that they could call their own! As ridiculous as the proposition sounded, the more he repeated it inside of his mind the most exciting it began to sound. In the past, they had lived in camps, abandoned ruins, buildings, or just on the road wherever they could get a few safe hours of sleep. The village, for a while, as well, but none of that could compare to laying claim to a landmark of a city like this one, protecting it as though it were their own, and using it to survive against the threats of the Fiends that had overrun this world. There were too many advantages not to want it! And really, how many people in the world could say they owned the tallest building in a city the size of Iwatodai?!
"Ready to go, Sis?" he smirked as she came groggily up behind him, raising his bat onto his shoulder, his eyes filling with a hollow white light as he practically leaped up the staircase and burst out into the first room of the second floor, greeting the devil that had caused such an outburst there with a cranium-collapsing blow from his bat! "Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."Blood splattered on the window, the last of the devils having been completely obliterated by the bat of the teen as he finished them off; he took a long breath as the thing reduced to magatsuhi and he brought his bat to rest upon his shoulder. After the initial stronger demon that they had encountered, the 3rd Floor was essentially weak demons exclusively, and they managed to clear it in a matter of minutes with the ease that one might have expected from the son and daughter of a pair of the masters in the strongest family of summoners in the Yatagarasu and two survivors of the Bad Future from which they had come. Turning to face his sister, a few moments of rest were in order before they decided to move on to the next Floor, and though there were still countless floors above them waiting to be cleared of threats of one form or another, it was good to take stock of what they had accomplished so far. Three floors clear, 47 or so left to go...but that carrot at the end of their long fight was enough to keep him ready to move ahead to the next one right away. Their very own skyscraper fortress-slash-base. And of course, the stronger fights that he expected the higher they rose within the Tower.
"Weak...I expected a bit more resistance the further up we went," the teen thought aloud as he moved towards the staircase with his sister, fairly sure that she would follow him as he went, "Not that we should take too many unnecessary risks, but at the very least they could make the fight interesting."
Rolling his shoulder, he came to the staircase up to the 4th Floor and readied himself for yet another scrap in this wrecked world.

But Kou, be careful of what you wish for~" the girl warned in a singsong voice, cleaning her whip idly. They were advancing in a good pace, the girl believed. Perhaps if they continue like this, they could reach the top of the tower in a few days. Maybe, if they were really lucky... there weren't be so many demons on the upper floors. Then again...that would be a little boring, wouldn't it? "One of them might appear out of nowhere and punch your heart out." she added with a wry smirk.
The girl sobered up though as she followed behind her brother, once again unable to ignore how he rolled his shoulders, and how one of his arms was always by his side. "Isn't it easier to hold the bat with both arms?" Kyouko asked, her eyes looking for any tiny change in his expression. "Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."As they ascended towards the 4th Floor, Kou couldn't help but flinch internally (though on the exterior he remained as cool as a cucumber) when his younger sister asked him about his arm, obviously prodding him after having noticed the way that he was fighting and had been since they arrived in this world from their future...perhaps even a bit before that. He wondered when she had taken notice, but knew that it was probably a lot sooner than he would have liked. Kyouko always had a way of seeing through him that the slightly denser Kyou didn't, even though the two of them were practically on the same wavelength at all times when it came to battle, humor, and the things they wanted...there were some things that his twin brother just didn't pick up on. That didn't mean that he was just ready to give up the game just yet, and the fact that she was prodding him about it meant that she didn't completely know the story just yet. So he didn't look right back at her, or pause, or make any motion that would make her question to him and his response feel like a bit deal. He spoke as though it were any other question at any other time, and opened the door to the 4th Floor as he did so, the rush of demons making the continuation of that line of questioning have to wait at least until they finished with this scrap ahead of them.
"I need the practice," he told her truthfully, though given how vague the response was it obviously wasn't the whole truth of the matter, "And don't joke about what that b*****d did to you. I haven't forgotten about that...and I will settle up with him before this whole thing is over. Kyouko Nekata, The Seafoam Guardian of the North Her brother answered her question dismissively, but Kyouko wasn't satisfied. He hadn't even turned to look back at her while saying it! Tch... The seagreen haired girl opened her mouth to protest, when he changed the topic, focusing on the small self-depreciating joke she had made before. "I forbid it, Kou! You are not meeting that guy. I am serious." For a moment it had work...her thoughts were redirected for the time being, as she made her way up to the fourth floor of the Tower. She had turned countless demons into magatsuhi already...and it was starting to get really tedious. "Neither you or Kyou, you hear me? Speaking of... Do you think he'll know we are up here? What if he looks for us in the Lobby and doesn't see us? "

"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER.""You're serious about that, aren't you?" the young man raised an eyebrow as he looked over at her, moments after they had cleared out yet another repetitively easy floor of devils and claimed the 4th Floor of the Mist Wall Tower for themselves. He was, of course, referring to the red-haired devil that she had warned them about and now was expressly forbidding that they encounter. It wasn't as though they would have a choice in the matter if the thing showed up for them like it had for her, anyway, and even if they did have a choice about it...he couldn't promise that he wouldn't take out his anger on it, anyway. "Well, it's not like I'm planning to search it out any time soon. 'Got my Tower to deal with first. But it's not like we can avoid him if he wants to find us," he reasoned as he cleaned the blood from his Nail Bat slowly, glancing towards the 5th Floor staircase and wondering if the challenge was ever going to raise in this thing, or if they'd HAVE to search out the red-haired Fiend just to get another good fight, "...But if he does show up, I've got dibs." And dibs meant something between them.
But apart from the devil with the red hair, they did have their brother still to consider. 4 Floors in and a new day, they really thought he would have made it back to meet up with them by now. He still was sure nothing too bad had happened to him, but it was odd...they didn't tend to stay apart quite this long on the regular. If he hadn't shown up by the time they got to about the 7th Floor, he might start to worry.
"You can't miss the Tower, and he knew that's where we were heading. If anyone could still get lost on the way, it's him, but he'll find it in time. And I doubt he's just going to stop in the Lobby...after all, the 'Best Fights are at the Top Floor' rule was one he invented...remember?"Quote: 26 Tokens

Kyouko Nekata, The Seafoam Guardian of the North She rolled her eyes at his answer, shaking her head lightly. Overprotective brothers, nothing she could do about it.
One of them was missing though, and even if it didn't show in her confident face, Kyouko was slightly worried about him. Kyou was capable, that was true enough...but he was also reckless. He had always been reckless, even as a small boy. She could remember following Kyou and Kou everywhere back home. Whatever place their parents traveled to, they explored. They were always together, those two... anyone would have said they were actual twins; and maybe in a way they were. They were similar in so many aspects, and they complemented each other well. As a young girl, Kyouko would clung to them, always hiding behind Kou or Kyou as they got themselves in some kind of trouble...As she grew, she learned from them...and she loved the two equally. The two were her brothers and no one would dare tell her otherwise.
Kou was right though... Kyou would find his way to the tower. "Heh, of course. And something about tigers liking high places or whatever." Still...she frowned, her focus once again in her brother as he swung the bat with one hand with such force it was terrifying. Hm... "What made you decide to try that?" she nodded to his bat, tilting her head lightly. "Using only one hand, I mean... Maybe I should try switching my whip from hand...learn how to use both of them..."

"Two on one might seem unfair, but I promise you would rather it be US than HER."He could feel the concern that she wanted to hide; it wasn't as though he didn't share it, it was just that he felt it in his bones that Kyou was still out there, doing all right. It was very strange for him not to have at least shown up by now, but there was little that they could do apart from head back into the city to find him or trust that he would make to the rendezvous here in the Mist Wall Tower. He couldn't imagine any of these lesser punks getting the better of his brother, but there was always the red-haired b*****d out there on the hunt for stronger people to 'play with'. And there was on doubt that his brother was strong. That alone was enough to set a little bit of nervous energy coursing through his veins as he polished off the last of the enemies on this floor together with Kyouko.
He let out a small sigh as he glanced towards the stairwell from whence they had come, and no familiar silhouette darkened the doors. Where in the Hell was he, anyway? This was getting to be too long...making their nerves a little too uneasy. It wasn't like him, damn it. And now that it was just him alone with Kyouko she was watching him more closely and taking notice of things, asking questions that he didn't want to answer.
"...Beat more demons than me on the 6th Floor, and I'll tell you all about it," he answered her prodding questions about his arm with a simple challenge. If he killed more, then he would prove he was strong enough that it wasn't worth asking. If not, then at least he'd tried. "I'm thinking 10th Floor or bust for today."Quote: 36 Tokens

The Tiger of the Nekatas started to go wild on his enemies, his blade tearing, slicing, and clawing through the Horde of demons that dared to face him..the demons of his also surprisingly bloodthirsty in this combat-centric world. There was even blood going down his Unicorn's mane! Badass!.
