It was never to late to join a party! Nilima dove into the festivities, albeit a little bit later then most of the other participants. She had honestly been a bit concerned about the fact that the Daydreams would be joining them. Was it really safe? They had all been at war not to long ago....Would they come to want their precious resources again? She didn't know...but she couldn't stay terrified forever. She didn't get very far before someone offered her a stocking and as a bonus slipped some candy canes into it for her. She smiled, thanked them, and went to see what other sort of games there might be to play.
Jurvik was a little nervous at first when Corben leaned in--he looked intense, scary intense--but the enthusiasm of Corben's response just made the Geist's day. He grinned, relief washing over him. Corben wanted to spend time with him! And introduce him to Leif! And maybe he could...y'know...ask Corben out for a date, a properly labeled date next time... He wondered suddenly if Corben wanted to be courted in proper Baphomet fashion. Gosh. He'd have to learn about Corben's family then! How could he ask it subtly? Or did one just come right out and ask how to find gifts for the family? Huh boy...
But he watched the way Corben offered to spend time with Xeno, and the way he juggled multiple conversations at once, and the way he advised someone how to take care of a plant...yes, it would be worth it. For the feeling of bliss when he'd gotten the Baphomet's approval. "Well, we'll be playing at three--I look forward to seeing you in the audience!" He turned to Xeno. "So, planning time." He idly accepted a boa that a passerby thrust at him, eyes never leaving his son's.
Dad had just asked Mr. Datura to dinner, and asked to meet Mr. Datura's son. Yeah, he was definitely asking Xeno's teacher out on a date. Xeno needed to spend time with--Corben--now to find out if he liked this idea or not. He was offering to take him around, and, well...he trusted Corben. Corben worked with plants--people who worked with plants were trustworthy.
He turned back to Jurvik and nodded. "Yeah! I'll go around the festival with Mr. Datura. Could you take my books and plushies and plants backstage for me, though?"
Which reminded Xeno... with a shy look at Corben, he spun the wheel on the table again. He smiled at the result and picked out another plant and a plushie.
Jurvik nodded. "Of course. I'll meet you at the stage when our set ends at 3:30, how's that?" He hesitated. Would it seem--? Nah, he'd be forgiving, right? "Do you know where the stage is, Corben?"
The sincere cheering and clapping coming from the other geist gave Cyril a bit of a confidence boost. Bibiana was just so cheerful that he couldn't help but be cheered as well. Tucking the book into his stocking, he started when she said she would want to borrow it from him. "Yeah, I guess, if you wanted. But I mean, surely you have other friends that you would prefer to borrow books from?" He was sure that she was just asking him because he was right there.
A sigh of relief escaped him when she didn't make a fuss over his babbling. That would have been almost as embarrassing as what he'd been saying in the first place. "Umm.. . " Cyril looked around, missing the moment when someone slid a pair of antlers on Bibiana's head as well. When he glanced back to see what she meant, he was surprised to see them. "Oh; yeah, we do, kinda." He touched his own pair with a faint smile as she jingled merrily. "We could play that game," he pointed to a water racing game. It was meant for two people to race against one another to shoot the bullseye with a mounted water gun. "It looks like they're giving out snow globes?"

The baphomet was quick to answer her question and turn back to the two he was conversing with. From the look of things, they were both pretty interested in one another. Though the look the bapho was giving the geist was a little too intense for her comfort. Isabelle thanked him, knowing he was probably more focused on the other two than her. Spinning the wheel, she managed to win two of the little sprouts from the stall. Juggling them carefully, she tucked one into her stocking and carefully held the other. She would put both of them in the stocking, but she didn't want the top plant to squish the one beneath it, or for the pots they were in to get chipped from knocking against one another. At this rate, she should probably make her way back to her dorm to drop some of this off before too long.
As if the thought that she had too much summoned them, one of the volunteers with a basket full of plushies appeared to offer her one. "Ava ordered far too many of these, please take one," the overburdened attendant asked. Exasperated, she accepted a yellow cat plush and somehow managed to get it into her stocking as well. Yeah, it was definitely time to start heading back towards the dorm to lighten her burden a bit.
Well, at least his friends were also offended by the haphazardly tossed snowglobe. He stuffed it into his stocking, hoping that it would be... safe enough there. The addition of yet another strange bird was... well, he wasn't sure how he felt about it yet. Hopefully it wouldn't continue to screech "stupid face" over and over again, even if it was right. "You seem to be a magnet for familiars, Perigor." He turned the corners of his mouth up into a slight smile, and nodded his head.
"I suppose thet it is, I hev not been in it, obveeously. Perheps they give out more treats inside." He shrugged slightly, "End as Ustule seys, it will get us awey from the reign of plushies. I think thet the senior they hev in charge is teking too much joy in this...." He narrowed his eyes at the brightly colored Imp manning the trebuchet, then started shuffling towards the house, once again pulling Parodia along.
"In my village, we do not set up houses like this. I em wondering exectly what the differences between southern and northern Solstices are..." As they entered the first house, he accepted an orange lightbulb necklace... Hm. This seemed like Perigor's sort of thing, perhaps he would gift it to him later... Or keep it as a silent, symbolic reminder of his friend.
Oh. Oh Nine. They were putting him on the spot. Nervously he just... decided to avoid the questions altogether and take his turn, since it was time anyway...This round he just got a silver boa... Eugh. At least it didn't clash with his colors... He draped it over his shoulders, and then glanced between Chries and Foras again... To say, or to go? Well, he was trying to court Chries, so he probably should do as he wanted... But Foras just seemed so expectant that he'd follow along?
Not to mention he bought up cocoa, which... Well, he was cold. And cocoa sounded nice. But Chries wanted to stay at the darts. But cocoa. But Chries. Without really realizing it his indecision-induced anxiety began to show through in a flurry of panicked flashes through his markings, and a slight flare in his tendrils. What was the correct choice?
Why did he even care what Foras wanted? They were just (begrudging) friends! He was dating Chries. He should go with what he wanted, clearly that was the correct choice.
"...We could stay at the darts for another round, d--dear." He ended up stumbling over the last bit, still unused to referring to anyone in such an affectionate manner. "I do like the idea of hot cocoa though... I'm getting cold." He nodded, then turned his gaze fully to Chries. "But I'll do whatever you want to do." There.
It was no longer his responsibility to choose. The ball was in Chries' court and he could decide what was going on. Ugh.... Why was this so stressful!?
Corben nodded, and leaned over to pick up his things... Oh! He'd almost forgotten about his hot cocoa... He took a sip of in, then carefully moved around the table so as to avoid knocking any of the numerous potted plants off of it (seriously, did they get more? It seemed like they got more...). "Oh yes, I know where it is. We'll be there when you start!" He grinned, then patted Jurvik's shoulder before looking to Xenophon.
"Shall we~? What games have you played so far? They have a lot this year, hahaha! We can go do whatever you'd like to." He nodded again, and then took another sip of his cocoa. Mmm, so good. "Do you like to hold hands? Leif does in big crowds, he gets worried he'll get swept away."

Kanda watched until her father had strode out of sight before turning her attention to the games. There was a matching game nearby that she could see, and what's more, there was a grimm playing it. Excited at the sight of another grimm, even if she was older, Kanda's tails wagged and she scampered over to play. Just by watching the older girl play, she figured out how to do it as well. Thankfully, there wasn't really anyone nearby who was waiting to play the game as well, so she waited quietly for her turn.
As soon as the older girl had gotten her prize and stepped back, Kanda moved in to try. Her clawed paw rapped against the top of the booth to try and get the attention of the attendant. With quite a bit of gesturing, she managed to get across that she wanted to play. The game-master chuckled, reshuffling the deck and spreading it out again for her to make her attempt.
Just as she had seen the older girl do, Kanda carefully and slowly picked out the cards. Whatever the reason the older girl had done it for, it managed to win Kanda a new book. She pointed out the one with a pretty mermaid on the front as the one she wanted and then eagerly turned around to show her dad her winnings. Remembering that he had left the festival when she didn't see him standing there, her body drooped and she sighed softly before tucking the book into her now empty stocking. She still had the earrings and boa on, but the rest had left with her adopted father.
Sirius twitched as he felt.... something touch his tail. His head jerked to the side, locking on the smaller man before him. An eyebrow twitched as the male had the audacity to blame him for the mishap. Excuse him? His tail snapped away, curling around one of Sirius' legs as his face contorted into a scowl.
"Mind my tail? Yours was the one that offended my personal space." He hissed, flicking his poor tail tip to emphasize the offense. His mood had soured considerably, so when someone walked by offering drinks he immediately grabbed the nearest mug. That was his, now. If he was going to be rudely accused of cuddling up to this.... dreadful man then he was getting a god damn souvenir for the occasion.

Cherubi's eyes lit up as Conan mentioned the plushie, hands extending as she squealed in delight. She took the plushie, nuzzling into it before moving closer to give Conan a quick hug. Her tail wiggled as she squeezed the plush to her chest, chin resting on its head. This was the best gift ever, mostly because it was from Conan himself!
"You're so sweet, oh my Nine." She couldn't help but give him a second hug, cheeks a brighter purple. She barely noticed someone attach a necklace to her tail, too focused on the wonderful Conan.
"Are you here with anyone? Or... do you want to spend the evening with me?" She normally confident Chimera flushed as she extended her hand, offering it to Conan with a head tilt.
This is from Conan!
Leopleuradon
Alice snapped her head around when she heard a very familiar voice, letting out a delighted giggle as she ran up to meet her four-eyed bestie. Her hands flew out, touching his as she eagerly wiggled closer.
"Aphe!" She greeted, as if he wasn't aware she had noticed him. "It's okay! Look, isn't this pretty?" She displayed her new silver boa, spreading her arms out and twirling to show it off before turning back to him, smile wide. "And you're here, so that's all that matters! Oh! Oh! I saw a gingerbread decorating stand, can we go? Pleaaaase?" Her little swirly eyes glistened as she pleadingly held her hands together, tail lashing behind her. Suddenly, an adult handed her a pretty necklace, causing a loud squeal of delight as she immediately placed it around her neck.

Kadali's head turned when she heard her name, eyes scanning the crowd until.... oh! Leif! She darted towards him, meeting him and instantly wrapping her arms around him in a celebratory hug.
"Leif! You came!" She squeaked, wiggling away before immediately grabbing his hand, bouncing on her heels. "Did you get anything yet? People are handing out prizes like candy here!" Speaking of which, someone seemed to hear her and confirm her statement by dropping some peppermint bark in her stocking.

Lace's head snapped to the side when she heard a certain someone's voice, face turning into a grin. Oh! It was her favorite person; Samhain! Without thinking (and ignoring the candy canes tossed into her stocking) she ran to Samhain, tossing herself into his arms.
"Samhain! I was about to come find you!" She chirped, wiggling against him to properly obtain hugs.

Chloe meandered about, accepting gifts here and there before turning around and handing them to smaller children. The arrival of a pretty red necklace halted this habit, however. Her eyes lit up at the glowing trinket, hastily putting it around her neck. It was beautiful, and now was her favorite accessory, ever.

Ella hadn't expected to see Quilo, but she was glad when he suddenly appeared. A relieved smile touched her features as she wiggled her claws in greeting, watching him pull out earrings and clip them on. Her claws instinctually touched the ones on her ears, a tiny and delighted laugh leaving her. They matched!
"We match." She hummed, delicately reaching forward to touch his hand when he asked what she wanted to do. There were so many people she was sure they'd get lost if she didn't stick close. "Um.... they have a booth to make little sock puppets... can we go?"

So perhaps she was running a little... late for the festivities. Moving into her room in her new apartment had been far greater of a task than she'd previously imagined. Still, she managed to fully unpack and get herself settled all on her own.
Braelyn had nearly decided not to come at all, but she reminded herself again and again in her head just how much she would likely regret it if she kept herself cooked up inside her apartment all month long.
The moment she stepped into the over-populated area however... the idea of returning home quickly returned to her.
"O-oh..." the young geist breathed softly, gnawing gently on her bottom lip as she slowly began to make her way around. It wasn't long before she found herself bombarded by a rather bright nightmare who seemed far too excited to shove a vibrant stocking into her hands before motioning her off towards some of the booths. Braelyn followed the path given with hesitation but acceptance, gently feeling the soft fabric and fur of her stocking as she made her way towards one of the booths, which seemed to be offering some Hot Cocoa for everyone to take. A warm drink certainly could do good to ease her nerves, she imagined.
When she turned to leave, that was when she noticed it--the small Kidden, trailing around beside her, curiously trying to n** at her formless tendrils, which seemed all around unphased by the small creature.
"Uh... Hello," she muttered softly, drawing the creature's attention and making it bounce on its little legs, bringing a smile to the girl's face.
Kunibert was way too tired for a party like this, but he had been sent to Below to...well, to meet people. To network. To find himself, whatever the heck that meant. Ick. Kuni didn't want to be here, and he definitely didn't want to be literally here, surrounded by a bunch of people, in the middle of freaking winter. Okay, the beginning of freaking winter, but...whatever happened to the spirit of the holiday? A holiday spent inside, resting, thinking, dreaming? Nope. Haha. Nightmares apparently partied all the freaking time...
Kuni accepted a stocking with a sound of disgruntlement. Fine. Cool. Whatever. When someone handed him a potted plant, however...
Oh, lovely, this guy was a real peach, wasn't he? His own expression only darkened into a scowl of his own as his tail lashed in irritation behind him. His tail? No, more like his tail. He couldn't believe the audacity to say that! "My tail? I was minding my own <********> business, and your tail just came out of nowhere and touched mine." He scoffed. Forget the fact that this guy was way bigger than he was and way more fit, he wasn't going to back down, his personal space had been intruded upon!
For whatever reason, a passing freshling did not seem to pick up on his irritated mood and came to give him a pair of bell earrings. Great. He accepted them and then shoved them into a pocket.
Oh, good, she heard! OH, OH IT WAS HUGGING TIME. Leif barely had the presence of mind to actually hug her back, he'd been taken by surprise! Though, really, he should have realized that would happen... Kadali was very excitable... "O-of course...! M-my dad is running the h-h-herbalism booth..." He nodded, then turned to point,... and squinted a little. Who was that he was talking to...? A geist and... a chimera.... oh.... His dad was going to go explore with the chimera...? He frowned a little, not sure how he felt about that just yet...
But he couldn't dwell on it, Kadali was asking him questions! He looked back to his strawberry-banana friend and nodded. "I did, j-just a couple of things..." He nodded, then squeaked as a passing adult shoved some antlers onto his head. "O-oh..... I gu--guess I have these now, too..." He sighed, adjusting the headband, and then yelped when he got beamed in the head with a plush.
"K-Kadali let's move away f-from here, please...!" He picked up the plush, and then attempted to pull Kadali to a safer space.
Aphelion happily clasped his hand with Alice's, then nodded happily. "Oh, yes. It's very lovely, Alice." He smiled, watching her show off the boa. "They do...?" He turned to look, just in time for a passing adult to stuff a book into his hands. He blinked down at the title in confusion, then looked over to Alice. "Apparently I have a book about alchemy now..." He shrugged, then attempted to stuff it into his stocking.
Once that was settled, he offered a free hand to Alice again. "I think we should do the gingerbread houses, yes. I would like to take one home... do you think they will let us?" He frowned, and started off towards the table, little hooves clicking against the ground. "Papa hasn't decorated much, he's very busy with school."
It seemed as though the screeching of the Baphomet's new bird companion drew the attention of another... equally noisy bird. Before long a second Cockatreil had found its way over towards the pair of Grendel students, though this one seemed noticeably more polite. In fact, if anything, it seemed mostly content to simply land atop Miah's head, earning itself a gasp from the imp, who tried to look up at the creature--something which proved to be rather difficult, considering it was on top of her head.
"Oh, my... what is it doing?" she asked the baphomet, her eyes slightly wide as she clutched her new glowing necklace in her hands, as if the sparkling bulb would protect her, should the creature decide it wanted to try and n** at her.

Alis blinked, watching the bird curiously as they moved their own Cockatreil companion up onto their shoulder, where the bird seemed content to nestle into the baphomet's hair.
"It's not really doing anything. Just... sitting there," they explained softly, blinking as the bird began to pick at its feathers as if cleaning itself. "Maybe it just likes you," they added with a shrug before looking down at their own matching necklace, humming as they enjoyed how the bulb sparkled and glowed.

"Oh goodness, look at how cute this thing is!"
Those words seemed to be the demoness's motto of the night, even still as she gently shook the small snowglobe she had won from one of the many booths. "I used to love these as a freshling. I never understood how they worked! I thought it was some kind of enchantment, and then I was told that it's just... water," she muttered softly to her two recent critter companions, a smile sliding over her lips as the fennekit mewled in response.

Braelyn was certainly far, far too distracted to notice her flatmates a short distance away--amazing, considering the commotion going on with the young imp and her Baphomet companion.
Though, you could hardly blame the geist. After all, the almost oversized Sealpup plush that she had won almost by accident from one of the many games was a fantastic distraction from the rest of the world.
"It's so cute,..." she muttered to no one in particular, except maybe the young kidden at her feet.
Mytrax tilted her head slightly to the side as she considered Bath's words. "I did not mean to make you uncomfortable, I apologize. It was an observation," she began, "I have someone in my clan who looks more frightening and intimidating when they smile. Which does not mean that you look better when you're not smiling or the opposite, so make of it what you will."
She had almost offended him! Though her expression was a careful neutral, internall she was berating herself for saying the wrong thing. It was only luck that the hybrid did not dwell on it for too long and he handed her the hammer.
"Don't jinx me," she murmured, squaring her shoulders as she stared down at the target. Before she took a swing, someone passed by hawking a tray laden with mugs of steaming hot drinks. "Oh that smells good," she realized, turning towards the aroma. "Wait a moment," she said to Batholith and reached out for a mug of hot cider.
With a swig of the drink warming her up and relaxing her, the chimera's blow had the lit bar soaring all the way to the top.

Verve was briefly entranced by the glowing necklace around her new friend's neck, so much so that she too got one for herself. The chimera, however, twined it around her wrist with the bulb like an oversized charm. "I'm usually better at favor-type gifts, like, giving backrubs and dancing or singing in front of a crowd while dedicating my performance to them types. Making stuff is hit-and-miss with me," she laughed, not the least bit bothered by this admission. Verve knew what she was and wasn't good at and didn't feel the need to apologize for it.
At the question about what else there was to do, Verve rubbed her chin in thought, and also because the tinsel boa was tickling her. "Hmmm, usually it's games and food and stuff. A couple of other events had dancing, which was fun, I dunno about this one though. It's supposed to be about welcoming daydreams and stuff, but between you and me, I haven't seen one of them yet."
Verve felt something rest on her head and looking up revealed a skyfish had decided the chimera made for a good perch. "Whoa, don't mess with the shades," she warned good-naturedly.

Charmstar beamed at Nikora and happily accepted the candy canes, then he began unwrapping them to start eating one. "Thank you!" he said, his lips already getting sticky as he ate.
He made no protest at Hailey's suggestion to play at the familiar booth, although he wasn't all too happy with familiars in general. Too much work in his opinion, and when Malachi won a particularly toothy one, Charmstar couldn't help but hide behind Nikora as he suggested to the other fallen "Um, maybe you could find something else fow it to bite? Ow distwact it with?" Charmstar was kind of at a loss on what to do about it.
Then he spotted some bulb necklaces and grabbed for one, dangling it in front of the familiar to see how it would react.

Ami nodded at Aeon, her arms folding across her chest. "Good, I do hope you enjoy your stay at the academy. Mine was certainly an experience I won't forget or regret." Her feet touched the ground and the sharpness in her face smoothed back to the dreamy smile. "And it's always wonderful to know what makes you passionate really early. It took me a while to figure out what ~I~ really liked to do~"
Something in a nearby booth caught her eye, "Ooooh looooook~" she pointed to the row of snowglobes and gestured for the fay to come look with her. In the end, she got one and underneath the globe she chose was a sticker saying she won a plushie, "Lucky~" she giggled, showing it to Aeon.
Hailey looked at Malachi and Charmstar, shaking her head at them since they seemed scared of the bird or something. "It's just a bird you guys..." she snickered, leaning in to get a better look at it. Then when it snapped at her, she shrieked, taking a few quick steps away. "Evil bird!" and she hissed back at it when it hissed at her. Then she noticed the necklace Charm had. "Ooooh.... shiny..." she said softly, eyes glistening. "Where did you-- Ahhah!" she exclaimed as she spotted them, snitching one right up, herself. "Hee!"
Malachi was grateful when Charmstar tried distracting the bird, only to feel horror when it snapped at Hailey's face. He felt like he was just about having a heart attack! Thank goodness the bird didn't get her... and that she was over it super fast. He looked at Charmstar after Hailey amused herself with her new necklace, snickering. "She likes shiny things... Uhmmm... Maybe since familiars seems to not be... AH!" he yelped as the bird snapped at his fingers again. We should go play more games... Thank goodness when his mom came over and took the cage for him. Being freed up allowed him to quickly pay out some tickets at the booth next to the familiar one, grabbing up a new plant!
"YES!" Hailey exclaimed. "We need more games! Your turn to pick, Charm and Niko!" And she linked arms with Malachi quickly, still grinning like crazy.

Upon reflection, Paladin rather thought that he should have picked anything butt he glowing blue necklace from the last booth. His new cockatriel friend was endlessly fascinated by it and kept trying to get it's beak into the thing. With a soft sigh, Paladin set his pet on the ground again and took the necklace off, careful to tuck it into a pocket where the critter wouldn't be able to get to it.
Nepheline decided that she liked the table that was nothing more than a large lass bowl full of small trinkets. Just reach in and grab one thing and that thing was yours! Easy and fun. As she plunged her own hand into the bowl, she wriggled her fingers carefully, trying to determine by feel what she wanted to withdraw. After a moment, she gave up on that plan and simply curled her fingers around something small and smooth.
Moments later, she was wearing a stylish little glowing bulb necklace.
Dalie was torn. She'd found a game that was giving away snowglobes. And since she'd been assured that everyone who played would win one, she'd happily gone along with it.
Except now, she had to decide which snowglobe she wanted. They were all so cute!
FInally, she picked one that showed a simple winter woodlands. Smiling, she gently shook the globe for the joy of watching the "snow" inside falling.
Jazilyn was engrossed in the snowglobe that her parents had gotten for her. The tiny snowmare inside was so cute! And the snowglobe itself was so pretty!
No longer holding both parents' hands, she trotted along beside them, pausing only occasionally to shift her grip on her acquired treasures.
Taking a break from the games, Coralie sat and stretched contentedly. Who'd have thought that these festivals were even more fun when one had a family? Turning an indulgent eye to where her small family played and shrieked with laughter, Coralie blinked as a soft, golden glow illuminated the edge of her vision.
Turning her head, she saw a small, gold wisp hovering about and smiled.
"Well, hello there, little one. Are you resting too?"
Holding out a hand, she waited patiently as the wisp bobbed about in the air before settling gently into her cupped palm.
"You know, I have a wisp at home. I'm sure they'd love to meet you..."
Adelinde had been less than please to find the punchbowl she'd stopped at inhabited by a salamander. Still, she thought as she fished the poor little thing out, it was hardly the salamander's fault that someone had dumped it into the bowl. Finding a soft napkin and a bit of water, she carefully cleaned it off. No sense in letting it stay all sticky and punch covered. Smiling a little in amusement as the little creature clearly enjoyed her ministrations, Adelinde rather thought she might like to take this critter home. Certainly, however had tossed it into the punch hadn't cared abotu what happened to it.
"I think I'm going to keep you, stripey."
Humming softly, Ashlynn tucked the pink bulb necklace she'd won into a pocket. As small as it was, she didn't want to lose it. Nodding a thanks to the glassbowl game's vendor, she quickly caught up with the rest of her family.
Tail wagging gently, Zahneel paused to examine the plant she'd won. She'd never really tried to grow anything before. And thanks to the herbology teacher's generosity, here was her chance!
Carefully juggling her prizes, she made her way further into the festival. She really was going to have to dart back to her room to drop stuff off at this point.
Grinning, Binhdi couldn't help but enjoy how the Solstice was giving her cool, cute accessories in her favorite colors.
The guessing game table's owner handled over a glowing, purple bulb with a smile and a flourish. Laughing a little, she nodded her thanks and looped the necklace over her head.
Once Gilby's momma had won her necklace, the little hybrid had wanted to tr too. Reaching into the offered bowl, they felt around carefully until their fingertips slid against something smooth. Smiling, they gripped the thing carefully and Gilby pulled their hand from the bowl.
And there, sitting in their palm was a pretty red bulb.
Prague had insisted that he sit for a few minutes and rest, maybe drink some hot cider. Hamish was happy enough to comply. Around his head, the little wisp he'd gotten bobbled along and seemed to be enjoying itself as well.
He'd just finished his drink and was ready to go again when his adopted mother reappeared at his side with an oddly hopeful look on her face.
"Close your eyes and hold out your hands, darling," she said, grinning. Hamish did as she told him, but before his eyes closed, he'd noticed her tail wagging hard enough to stir up a bit of a breeze. Holding out both hands, he wondered if she'd found another plant for him. That would be nice. Or maybe more books?
As he was considering what it might be, he felt something warm and soft and wriggling deposited in his hands. His eyes flew open and Hamish found himself staring into the eyes of a small fennekit who yipped happily before swiping his nose with her tongue.
Glancing up at Prague, as if to make sure that this was, indeed, what she'd intended to give him, he caught her smile and smiled back.
