1d100+15 (Masterwork Ingot) 10/23 Gloomiron Ingots
12/23 Iron Ore 17/28 Coal
Rota almost retched at the sight of what had poured out of the smelting cup. It was an ingot of deplorable quality. This would not stand. He begrudgingly quenched it, only so that it could later be reforged into something of far better quality. He placed it near-esque to the other nine, only for the convenience of having the new ingots all in the same place for evaluation later. Rota put that abject failure out of his mind as he worked on the next ingot, the ore and coal already in their proper places as if he put them there in a trance as he was reeling from the atrocity that that ingot was. As he kept watch on the aspiring ingot, he thought about his plans to have a Dire Wolf as a companion. Some would call his desire for such a powerful and untraceable creature foolhardy, but he could never back down from a challenge. If those legends were true, then the Dire Wolf was just the sort of powerful creature he NEEDED by his side to help cover him. He could not spend excess energy or risk on a pet that could not defend itself, thus the Dire Wolf was the best option. He then thought of the bear. Surely that could defend itself, right? Rota dismissed that option. While that idea remained true, he didn't see himself walking around with a bear following him. No, the Wolf would do just fine. He pulled the cup from the forge once ready, and poured the contents into the mold. He hoped that he would like what he saw this time.

11/23 Iron Ore 16/28 Coal
Rota was pleased at the ingot that was setting in the mold. It looked fairly decent in quality, and that was leaps and bounds better than the previous one, so he would accept this victory. He quenched the ingot, and when the barrel stopped steaming he placed the ingot with the other ten. He was getting closer to his goal. He placed more ore and coal in their proper places as this washed over him. Rota had officially been smelting for longer than he ever had before. This was a new frontier as far as his stamina was concerned. He hadn't felt the effects of it yet, but he knew that he would eventually. it was impossible that he wouldn't, unless boundless amounts of stamina were what his demon blood gave him. But even then that couldn't be true, for the forging of his blade exhausted him. He theorized that normal strenuous activity couldn't slow him down, but anything out of the norm could deplete his stores of stamina. he didn't know if this was true, but it was a plausible theory. He squeezed the bellows gently, spiking the heat up just ever so slightly. When the time was right, he pulled the cup from the forge and poured its contents once more into the casting mold. He watched the cooling metal closely, trying to discern what he was going to get from it.

Weaponsmith Arte: Rookie Iron One-Handed Weapon 1 unit iron ingot and 2 units charcoal produce one one-handed iron weapon
-1 Exceptional Gloomiron Ingot 14/28 Coal
While Rota let the previous ingot set, he decided to break up the tedium and try to make a sword again. The last sword he had made was his baby, so he had to get back into the pattern of making normal swords again. As he heated up an Exceptional ingot, he felt a pull at himself. It was almost a phantom memory of. He reasoned it was his memory of forging Abyssian and wrote it off. Once it had heated enough, he pulled it from the forge and began beating and folding it on the anvil. This was going far too well. Something had to be off. Maybe it was just the fact that his previous forge experience had finally caught up to him, but he couldn't shake the feeling that this was different. He re-heated the metal and prepared his signature for heating. This was going to be an amazing sword, regardless of anything due to the ingot it was being made from. While the blade heated up, he made the hilt and the grand for the blade to sit in. It took very little time and by the time he was done, so too was the blade to have the final strikes before he pieced it all together. he placed his mark on the grip where the fingers clasp together, and on the other side where it would rest at the crease of the hand. he set it aside by the workbench and the ingots so he could evaluate the quality later.

10/23 Iron Ore 13/28 Coal
Rota's brow furrowed in confusion. There was no telling what this ingot was going to be. It was too ambiguous. He shook his head in defeat and quenched the ingot. After that was done, he placed it with the other 11. He was finally at the point of no return. He was over the hill, and everything from here on would be one giant step towards being done with this self imposed trial. Rota placed one ore in the cup and a set of coals in the forge. He worked the bellows tentatively, not wanting to get overeager and screw up the ingots now. He didn't think this would be this hard when he started. It was less a test of body, than a test of mind and will. The will to proceed at this daunting task was tough to muster up at times, but he was seeing the results. Ultimately, it was worth it to press on through these hard times. His talent would only improve thanks to this trial, and he would be a better Blacksmith because of this effort. He thought back to his early days of the forge, when his father was teaching him technique and he skills he would need to be a master blacksmith like him, and how they all went in one ear and out the other. Rota still cursed himself for that. There was no telling the talent he would have now if he had listened. He was just glad he was able to retain at least some of it, seeing as the forge drew him to itself. Now he was going to be able to play catch up with all those years of training squandered. Did he regret it? Only minorly, since those years were devoted to him honing his art with the sword. He took the cup from the forge and poured its contents into the mold yet again. This was the beginning of the end for this smelting session.

Rota yet again didn't know how to feel about an ingot. This was happening a lot this session, and he didn't know how to feel about that either. As he quenched the ingot, he suddenly felt very weak. Fatigue was setting in, and he wondered why. As he set the latest invot down by its 12 friends, he saw why. He had created another legendary weapon. If he wasn't so frained he would have jumped for joy. It was a beautiful weapon that deserved a skilled master...Alyx had his sword. Rota only hoped he cpuld make a shield of the same quality. He placed another ore and set of coals in their respective places, and got back to work on the task at hand. He did his best to maintain his composure while working the bellows, but he was very drained. Not as drained as when he had made his own blade though. It was weird. He reasoned that the reason he was more drained then than he was now was because he had run himself through with that weapon to quench the blade in his own blood. Doing so on top of the strain of making such a masterpiece in the first place had to be what did it. With deep breaths, he took the cup frome the fires and poured the contents into the mold. He waited patiently on what would result of his hard work.

The more Rota felt uncertain, the more he disliked it. There were very few extremes in this session, and he hated it. The hell of uncertainty was realand he was living in it. As long as he was there, he quenched the ingot and set it with the 13 others. He was swiftly nearinv the end of this charade, so he tried his best to pick up the pace, yet maintain his standards of quality. He placed an ore and some coal in their proper locations and watched the mineral melt. To think he was so close now when he had been so far away was refreshing. All he had to do now was think of this as a brand new smelting session. Yeah. He wasn't done, he had just started! ...okay that wasn't helping at all. Regardless, 8 Ingots away (after this one) was a great milestone to hit. 8 ingots was a lot more manageable in the long run. But he was getting ahead of himself. He needed to focus on this one instead of worrying about the ones afterward. Rota pulled the smelting cup from the hearth and poured its contents into the mold again. He hoped the stretch of mediocrity had ended with this one.

7/23 Iron Ore 10/28 Coal
Rota felt a little better about this one. It didn't seem like the best of quality, but it did feel decen. Right now he would take that over uncertainty or abject horror. He quenched the ingot and set it with the other 14. He once more got to work on the next ingot, putting an ore and a set of coals in their proper places. He thought about how long he had really been doing this, and kinda shuddered a bit. He had lost so much valuable time doing this, and the only justification was that this was all for the betterment of himself and of Alyx. It was a good one, but he wondered if it was good enough. He didn't have to make so many ingots in a row. No one forced him to do it, sword to throat. This was a choice he had made, and he was living with the consequences of that choice. Some good had come out of it though. He had almost completed the marathon of making metals, and he had even made Alyx his sword. All that remained was to finish what he had started, and to make Alyx's shield. As he worked the bellows as an Artisan should, he wondered if he would ever find the good fortune to make the shield in the same quality as the sword. He sharpened his senses as he remoced the cup from the hearth and poured the liquid metal into the mold. He watched carefully for any overt impurities.

Rota felt really good about this ingot. It set very quickly and took a good time to quench. That usually meant it was in the upper eschelon of ingots. That was good. If he was to make Alyx's shield in proper form, it woukd need to be as good as he could make it. That said, he went back to work on the next ingot, placing the ore and coal where they needed to be. He watched the ore melt as he thougbt about how to hone his techniques further. He had made himself a good weapon, but his armor was still a hodge podge of different sets. His chest was boar, his pants were standard armor, and his cloak was a simple cloth one. He needed a set of armor instead of this mix and match bargain bin hobo style he was working. The problem was he lacked the hides or leather to make himself any armor. He had learned the art, but he had no way to use it without the proper materials. Another hunting trip was in order. He might need to kill a lot of bears, but it was going to be worth it. He wondered if he could get A Dire wolf armor set. That would be nice. He thought about this more as he pulled the cup from the forge and poured the contents into the casting mold again. He watched the ingot set as he contemplated hunting again.

Rota nearly threw up a second time in utter disgust at the Ingot he had desecrated. Despairingly, he quenched the ingot and set it aside with the other 16. He could do better than that. He had seen it. Now was time to make good on it. He placed another ore in the smelting cup, and another set of coals in the forge hearth. He maintained an eagle eyed gaze on the ore as he worked the bellows to thier fullest potential. He was sick and tired of all these little failures interrupting his artwork. He could not stand it, and would tolerate it no longer. Everytime the flames died down evwn a smidgeon, he squeezed the bellows in defiance to make the flames roar up again. He would decimate any impurities in the ore if it killed him. He wondered why his abilities were so scatter shot like they were. He had gotten better at his craft. Sure he hadn't worked on it for exceptionally long, but that didn't mean he should be making this many horrible ingots. It was despicable. He continued at his art, making damn sure not to lose sight of this one. He had to remove it PRECISELY when it was ready. No sooner, no later. If he was to remove that blight on his record, it woukd take work, and this had to be one of the ones that did it. He waited, and waited, until finally the metal was ready to be cast into an ingot. He pulled it carefully out of the forge, and poured it into the mold. He waited to see what he had created.

Not as good as Rota expected, but at least it wasn't absolutely horrible he supposed. He would take mediocrity over atrocity any day. After quenching the ingot in the water barrel, he placed it with the other 17. This meant he only had five left, including this one. He was very close to done, he just needed to not trip and fall at the finish line. In the spirit of that, he place the ore and coal in their proper places right away, and got right into it. He watched the ore as a starving crazed lion watches a gazelle, not wanting to miss a single second that he could take advantage of. He was using the bellows to great effect as he moved forward with this smelting session. It was almost uncanny on how much he was paying attention to the ore. You would think it was the most interesting thing in the world based on his complete and total focus n the one object. With the way he was staring at it and working the bellows, you would almost think it was dominating his mind into becoming its mindless zombie slave. However, the Artisan in Rota would not be controlled so easy. This was all for the betterment of the ingot itself. He wanted to make it the best he could muster, and that meant watching it like nothing else around him mattered. There could be a man in a trench-coat willing to trade him coal for stone on a five coal for one stone basis and he still wouldn't be able to see or acknowledge him. Rota grabbed the cup from the flames, and poured the contents into the mold. he hoped his devotion was worth it in the end.

3/23 Iron Ore 6/28 Coal
The Ingot was of very good quality. Rota was pleased to see his hard work had paid off. He quenched the ingot after a while, and set it with the 18 others. 4 more to go. he placed ore and coal in their respective locales and then went back to work. He wondered what would happen when he found what made the noise he could only hear when using the carved orb. he had no idea its origins or its purpose. It was why he asked Alyx along. If whatever was behind all of this was malevolent, or was protected by some fierce beast, Rota would need some all-star powerful backup. He thought about that as he worked the bellows. There was really no telling what was out there that the orb was calling out to. He wondered if Alyx had something like this, some task that was found rather than given. If so, he hoped that he could join in just as he had offered to Alyx. Though, Rota had no idea if there were other ones besides the orb task. Surely there was more wonder to the world than just that, right? Why would there only be one random task like that out there? it made no sense, thus there had to be more than just the orb. He couldn't see Alyx using a pickaxe anyways. Though that begged the question of what he crafted. While Rota pondered these answers, he pulled the smelting cup from the fire and poured the contents into the mold. Rota hoped this ingot would be just as good as the last.

The bile was thick in Rota's throat as he choked down more vomit. He could not stand to fail like this, how was this happening? It was so improbable that things would be going like this, but he supposed that was why it was merely improbable and not impossible. He begrudgingly quenched the ingot as before, and placed it with the other 19. It didn't deserve to share the same bench space as the rest of them, but that was neither here nor there. Either way, he was nearly done, so he returned to his work. He placed an iron ore in the cup and a set of coals in the fire. He watched the ore melt very slowly, jiggling it to try and get other, harder to reach pieces to sink and become molten faster. It was working with limited success, but there was till the distracting factor of how much he had done and how much he had failed along the way. he tried not to let it get to him, seeing as he had made two fantastic blades in a smithery that was not even his. He didn't maintain it, and he certainly hadn't replaced the water barrel anytime soon. He would clean up before he left, that was his promise. He decided to pull the cup out a little early and pour the contents into the casting mold. He hoped he had made the right choice.

Rota felt disappointed in the latest ingot. It was bad, but not the worst like some of the other failures had been. He was done fooling around with these ingots. it was time to end this properly. He quenched the latest ingot and set it beside the other 20. He was too close to truly lose focus now. He placed an ore and a set of coals in their proper places and continued to work. he worked harder than he had before, just by nature of him being so close to done. his technique was more methodical, more patient than before. He had shown what impatience could do to these works, and he would not easily repeat such a mistake again. He refused to. Rota worked the bellows like a pro, making sure the hearth stayed nice and hot for the perfect melting temperature for the iron. So close to done and yet so far. He still had to evaluate all of the ingots as well, and that in and of itself would take forever, and THEN he had to reforge ingots that didn't meet his standards, and THEN he had to make weapons of excellent quality to pump into the advancement of his legendary blade. There were still miles left to go before he could sleep. He pulled the cup from the fire and poured its contents into the casting mold. This had to go well for the last few sessions or he would be entirely dissatisfied with his abilities.

Not terrible, but not great either. Almost as average as one could get. That annoyed Rota, but there was no true harm in an average metal. He quenched it and laid it with the other 21. The last ingot. As he set up the last of his ore and the final set of coals he would need to use, he took the moment in a bit. His marathon smelting session was finally reaching its end. he had thought about a great many topics during the duration of the process, and had some more defined goals put in place, but when it came down to it he was glad he had done this. he would never subject himself to this again, unless there were ways to do it faster, but he did not regret this in the least bit... okay he regretted the failure ingots but that was about it. As he squeezed the bellows expertly, making damn sure to keep a steady hand during the most important ingot of them all, he considered the possibility that he wouldn't be able to make Alyx's shield for a long time. He had gotten exceptionally lucky in repeating the phenomena that created his personal blade, but he had never done so with a shield...could it even be done? Stupid question, of course it had to be able to be done. He just needed to be determined enough to be able to see it happen by his hand. He pulled the smelting cup out of the hearth for the last time and poured the contents into the casting mold. He patiently awaited the results of his labor.

(( HALLELUJAH HOLY s**t I'M DONE AND CAN DO OTHER THINGS NOW)) 23/23 Gloomiron Ingots
The final ingot had set, and Rota was very pleased. It was of very good quality and was a good capstone to the whole session. He quenched the Ingot as he had done all the others before it, and set it down with the other 22 ingots. His mission of making 23 Gloomiron ingots was finally at an end. he pulled up a stool and just looked at them for a bit. Some glistened like the sun, some were grungy and cracked, but at the end of the day he had made every single one of them and Rota couldn't have been prouder in that moment. He also took a closer look at the sword he had made for Alyx, and was still stunned by the beauty that he could bring forth into this world. Sure, he still had room for growth, but this happening twice showed that the forging of Abyssian was not just a mere fluke. There was a greatness in him just waiting to burst to the surface and show everyone his true potential. The day had been long, the day had been difficult, but at the end Rota remained on top.
