"I take it that means he's satisfied," he said with a small shrug in an attempt to not knock either of the two off himself. He snapped the last of his granola bar in half and handed the pieces to the pair. "There, hold yourselves over until we get back to Oldale." Ignoring the sounds of munching happening on both sides of his head, he glanced back over at Aelin as she was scanning Yuu. The Riolu remained calm, watching her read aloud the screen of the device. "Aura, huh? The life-essence stuff, right?" That was something he never really planned on looking into. "May be Googling that later."
Having company on a journey wasn't something he planned either. It did sound like an improvement though. Although he didn't feel that having only pokemon to talk to was a bad thing on a trip, being able to talk to another person was probably better in the long run. "Man, maybe this is what I've been needing in my life. A little excitement never hurt anybody, right?" He turned to follow along with Aelin, only to pause when she mentioned Hikari fighting with something. His gaze turned in the direction she nodded in, seeing the Lampent hovering back with a pokeball. "Hika, where'd you find that?" he asked, reaching his hand out to her as she held the ball out to him. "Oh, I didn't find it," her voice echoed as she whistled. "I took a pokeball from your bag and caught you something." There wasn't any sign of worry in her yellow eyes at his dumbfounded expression. She knew he wasn't upset about it-- just alarmed. "Next time... can you ask if you can first?" Hikari only let out what sounded like a mischievous giggle in response as he sighed and put the ball in a compartment on the strap of his backpack; seeing what it was and giving it a name would have to come later.
"Oh, you heard him too?" Tsubin asked curiously. He was never sure if pokemon were talking to only him or actually projecting to other people until he saw how they reacted. "Sage is my Natu. He was given to me along with Yuu earlier today." He grinned as they started the walk: a new path for Aelin, and just backtracking for him once again. "Lin or Linny, huh? I'll have to see which is more comfortable to say later. And you can call me Tsu if it's easier for you."

Walking out into the twon Ryou couldn't help but see it with new eyes. He was officially on his journey as a trainer. He could catch pokemon and scan them and- And I should probably make sure my team likes each other before I start thinking about anything else, he thought shaking his head at his own forgetfulness. From his belt he produced two pokeballs. Pressing down on the white button on both of them cased them to inflate. "Kai, meet our official first team mate" Ryou said as both pokemon materialized in a beam of red. Kai seemed to look down at the little torchic with something that may be amusement before looking back at Ryou. The torchic for it's part decided to run at Kai and bunt her head against the pokemon chirping at him in return. "I think...that's how he says hi." Ryou contributed.
The next couple of minutes was spent with Ryou watching as his two pokemon had what he could only imagine was a conversation. Of course to him it only sounded like they were saying their names over and over. "Would be cool to be able to speak pokemon." the boy muttered though he let them get acquainted as he munched on an energy bar. Torchic chirped at Kai a bit more before Kai corresponded with a 'Frax. Xure. Frax' though Kai didn't seem to mind the little pokemon he seemed to get a kick out of waiting for the torchic to try to tackle him and dodging him, giving out a laugh when the chick pokemon hit the ground. The torchic for his part didn't seem to mind.
Soon enough Ryou finished his snack and after giving the pokemon their own bits of food decided it was time to get going. "We'll have to challenge the Rustboro gym first." he said looking at the map he had gotten at the train station. "for the stone badge...so rocks?" If rock types were was he was against, he'd be in trouble. At least if he used his new starter. While he still had a lot to learn in regards to battle, Ryou had spent a good chunk of time at the library reading up on what he could in preparation for the day he would go on his journey. And he knew enough to know that a fire type had a disadvantage against rock types. "I guess it really is good you came along" he said to the Kai resting his hand on the Fraxure's head. Kai had been a parting gift from the dragon clan, a pokemon from as far as Unova, courtesy of the dragon tamers they knew in Ocepulid, where his mother hailed from. The clan had been more or less understanding of him wanting to broaden his horizons and do more than stay at the dragon den but had still wanted him to have something ( or someone from home) something to remind him of where he came from. Which was a good thing because he had a feeling for the league challenge he'd need more than a little help. "We'll need to make a plan for that" he said to both pokemon before focusing on the torchic. "But first you need a name." Ryou thought for a moment before asking the chick pokemon "how about Tuski" The torchi chirped happily and hoped which Ryou took as a yes. "Tsuki it is" he said with a grin.
With a newly christened pokemon, Ryou decided he should start heading towards his new destination. According to the map they had a ways to go before they got to Rustboro. Which suits me just fine, he thought, since I could do with catching more pokemon. He had pokeballs now after all. Wasn't that the whole point of a journey? To catch different pokemon. No sooner had he thought this that a blur of grey seemed to come out of nowhere and...bark at him? Poochyena, the bite pokemon his pokedex informed him At first sight, Poochyena takes a bite at anything that moves. "Okay so I can't...move?" he said feeling Kai and Tsuki both tense with him. "Oh wait I can catch it." he said looking down at the pokeballs in his belt. He looked between his pokemon. Kai he knew, had a bit more experience having spent some time in the dragon den at Blackthorn. "Tsuki it's time for your first batte" he said after a beat. Apparently eager for this the torchic jumped in front of his trainer. Ryou took a moment to remember just what attacks his starter had and-after looking them up on the dex gave his first command. "Use scratch!" Tsuki did just that, swiping at her opponent with talons at the ready. And apparently that was all it took, the poochyena toppled over apparently fainting from the attack. "Did...did you have to...hit it that hard?" Ryou asked as he thew the pokeball at the fainted pokemon while Tsuki just preened.

After capturing the Poochyena in a beam of red, Ryou stared at the pokeball intensely as it shook once...the twice. "I swear it's doing that on purpose" he said before finally letting out a sigh when the pokeball stilled. "I..I did it." he said giving a bit of a disbelieving laugh "I...I caught my first pokemon." Ryou cradled the pokeball in his hands, still unable to believe it. "Xure!" Kai called his attention and snapped him out of his reverie. Ryou looked to the dragon pokemon only to have his direction redirected when Kai looked at Tsuki. His starter was panting, and looked like more than a little worse for wear. "this should help" he said taking out one of the potions the proffesor had given him. He hadn't been expecting having to use them that soon but he had a feeling he would have to use them a lot more.

Fidning the route out of town was easy enough and soon Ryou found himself staring at the outskirts of town with both Kai and Tsuki next to him. The poochyena he had captured remained in it's pokeball since it had fainted. Ryou knew it was best if it traveled inside it's ball for now until they could reach the pokemon center. Standing before the path he took a breath. Once he set foot outside of Littleroot he would be taking his first steps into his pokemon journey. "You guys ready?" he asked the pokemon. Tsuki chirped and Kai gave his own "Xure" and Ryou found himself smiling as he exited Littleroot.

After leaving the Professor's lab, Uhroa took a moment to look over the items he'd received. None of them looked particularly special. "Potions and Pokeballs." He muttered. He'd seen these things plenty of times in the stores. "So I guess we just start traveling?" The boy muttered to himself before slinging his backpack over his shoulder. Pivot adjusted himself so he was standing over the bag while leaning over Uhroa's shoulder, lazily resting his body over his trainer. "Look alive, Pivot. You're suppose to be protecting me." Uhroa mentioned placing a hand on the Snivy's head. "I doubt anything would be worse that the Pokemon in the city though." After all food was in abundance when it came to areas outside big cities. He spotted what looked like a Pokemon right away on a tree outside the lab. It was minding it's own business so Uhroa did the same.

Finding the exit to Littleroot was easily done. given there was only one way out save for hopping on a train again and going someplace else. Uhroa had half a mind to run away and go to another region, or just go straight back home out of retaliation... but the more he thought about it he figured that wouldn't be a good idea. He had to think rationally. Being one who hated being treated like a kid he had to curve the urges to make child-like choices. Still, he had to think of something he could do to get back at Reohyeon for lying to him. Even if he could understand his brother had a reason to, it still urked him to be lied to.
Though a distraction from his inner thoughts quickly popped up in the shape of a dog-like creature. "Oh, I know that one." Uhroa stated. Many of the men trained Poochyena and their evolved form, Mightyena. Though Uhroa didn't much care for the canineesque creature. "Pivot, time to put in some work." Uhroa mentioned, dragging the Snivy off his shoulder and placing him down on the ground. Lifting a tiny hand to it's mouth, Pivot let out a small yawn before stepping forward. "Just tackle it back into the tree line." Uhroa instructed. Pokemon in this area were likely little to no match for Pivot, even if Uhroa and Pivot hadn't really fought Pokemon v Pokemon before. Launching his body forward, Pivot caught the Poochyena off guard with his speed. Slamming his body into the dog, he launched the pooch in to a tumble. Once it recovered it quickly dashed back into the woods. "Well done." Uhroa stated, leaning forward to pick Pivot up and placed him back on his shoulder.

The duos path opened up, Uhroa and Pivot made way through the short route until spotting the next town nearby. So far so good, he'd made it out of the starting town at least. The young boy took a moment to gaze into the tree line that ran along the opened route. "This is the most nature I've ever seen in one place." Uhroa noted. Not even roof top gardens or the central park in Castelia could compare to this. It was nice, but he still couldn't help but miss home. It hadn't even been 24 hours since leaving him, but to be fair... this vacation did come abruptly.
tab Light child steps got off the train clutching a teddy and a Rowlet on her head. Blonde curls bounced and swayed as she moved towards teh exit to the town. She just needed to put one foot infront of the other for now. The Pikipek was still unconscious in her bag. The pokeball feeling strange even to her. Sage was smart... So stinking smart... "That wasn't cool Sage. What if he didn't wanna join us? Teddy, what do you think about this?"

tab Unfortunately for the young girl, there wasn't a pokecenter in this town. She would probably need to explore further. Which was unfortunate... "Rowlet! Hoo hoooooo" The bird cooed happily. She would make a trainer out of the child yet. Now they had another pokemon as well. Not just some dumb teddy that was still very clutched onto. She decided to make herself comfortable, by hopping down onto her shoulder and nestling into her hair. It was long enough so she could cuddle in.
Giggling as she grimaced, Leeanne tried not to mention the slight pain of her hair being pulled. She was excited to see that her starter liked her so much!

☆ ☆【 The screech of wheels on the metal track and the distinct rumble of the train coming to a stop as it pulled into the Littleroot Town station roused Zane from his slumber, the young boy muffling a yawn with one hand and wiping the sleep from his eyes with the other. He had really needed that, the dull aching pain in his head and the nausea that had been lingering before seemed to have disappeared more or less. Still didn’t exactly feel quite up to being one hundred percent yet, but he certainly felt a fair bit better than he had before. ”We’ve arrived in Hoenn,” Choux’s light voice spoke up in his mind in confirmation, ”Are you feeling any better now, master Zane?”
”Ja, or at the very least better enough that we won’t have to worry about me collapsing in the middle of town or anything,” he said, brushing back a few loose strands of hair and stretching to get the blood pumping since they’d likely have quite a bit of walking to do. The hiss of the automatic doors opening filled the cabin along with the announcement of the conductor blaring over the PA system, ”All passengers bound for Littleroot Town may now disembark! Guests bound for Pallet Town may board within ten minutes!”
”Suppose that’s our cue then.” Grabbing up his bag and tucking away the now empty thermos into one of the side pockets before slinging it over his back, Zane and his Pokemon stepped off the train and into what was technically unknown territory for them as Hoenn was a region he had little to no familiarity with. His knowledge of the region only extended as far as the Pokemon contests that he remembered their grandmother would sometimes watch on the TV, and it was certainly no secret that Hoenn was a popular place for aspiring coordinator. Good thing he still had his Rotom Phone on him so it should be easy enough to pull up a map and navigate from there.
Wait, his Rotom Phone… ”Scheisse...“ he swore under his breath, quickly reaching into his bag and pulling out the light blue colored Rotom device, ”Roto-Phone, check notifications, bitte.” The phone immediately sprang to life as it leapt out of his hand, hovering before him as it flipped over briefly to show the grinning face and bright blue eyes of the Rotom that powered it. ”Ja herr Zzzane, texte jetzt prüfen!” it announced back to him in German, flipping over to show the lit up screen. And sure enough, it read right on the screen that there were more than 50 missed texts and about 35 missed calls from ‘ZiZi’, likely asking him where the hell he was and why he wasn’t answering his phone.
Arceus… He really should’ve done that earlier, then again he hadn’t exactly expected to fall asleep on the train that whole time. ”Roto-Phone, call ZiZi…” Better now than never, he supposed. The screen blinked briefly before showing the call display, the tone ringing only once before it was picked up immediately by his sister. ”Zane?! Sind sie das?!“ she asked, tiredness and anxiety clear in her tone. It definitely sounded like she hadn’t slept at all, and frankly he couldn’t blame her all things considered.
”Ah, ZiZi, I…””Was zur Hölle!!“ Zane could barely get a word in edgewise before her voice practically exploded in angry sounding German over the phone, causing him to wince and cover his ears a little. ”Where ze hell have you been for zee past 20 hours?! I’ve been looking for you ******** everywhere! You said you were on your way home last night and next thing I know you’ve disappeared, and no one in town or anywhere else in Galar has seen a trace of you since!” Zane bit his lip, waiting patiently until Zenzi finally finished her irritated tirade and silence permeated the line for a moment or two as she caught her breath and tried to calm down.
”I… Schiesse… I’m sorry, I don’t mean to yell… But Arceus dammit I’ve been super ******** stressed these past several hours,” she spoke up again after a minute in a much softer tone, ”Where are you right now? Are you safe at ze very least?”
”Ah, well, about that…” He took a breath, not wanting to stress his already worried sister that much more but he knew he owed her an explanation of some sort. ”It’ll likely be hard to believe, but I’m in Hoenn at the moment, in Littleroot. I tried to get back to Galar, but the trains going to Postwick aren’t running right now.”
Another pregnant pause over the line, followed by a sharp inhale before his sister spoke again. ”How’d you get all zee way over there? Are you alright, at least? Your voice sounds a bit different, not sure if it might be ze call being weird or something else...” It would certainly be easy to pass it off as the line acting up, because he wasn’t sure how believable his situation was going to sound to her if he tried to explain it like this.
”It’s… not easy to really explain, sis… or at the very least not over the phone like this. I don’t even know how I ended up so far away from Galar either, believe me, you’re not the only one who’s confused here. I promise I’m fine, though, just a bit dazed is all,” he explained, trying to stay as collected as possible as to not send her into another panic spiral, ”I barely have any recollection from what happened last night aside from suddenly passing out. I may have been attacked, but by whom and for what reason, I have no idea. They didn’t take any of my Pokemon or anything else I had on me.”
He heard a noisy exhale from the other end as Zenzi heaved out a tired and frustrated sounding sigh, muttering a faint curse that he could barely hear. ”Stay right there, I’m coming to get you.”
”Absolutely not, ZiZi,” Zane immediately cut in, brows knit as he grit his teeth, ”I’m not going to have you risk your safety for this… If they find you, Arceus knows what could happen!” When there was no immediate response from Zenzi, the young boy continued. ”I’m sorry, but… I just… I can’t risk losing you, not again… I don’t know what I’d do if you never came back…”
A string of muttered curses emanated from the other end of the line followed by the faint sounds of footsteps as she paced around the room in frustration. Zenzi knew he was right, and no amount of arguing could change that. She could be incredibly stubborn when she really wanted to, but his words seemed to have really struck her. ”Fine, have it your way… But I’m not going to just sit here and do nothing while you’re still out there, you hear?” she relented with some reluctance, still none too pleased with the situation at hand but determined to at least help in some way, ”Just tell me what you need right now and I’ll see what I can do.”
If he was going to be here for quite some time, he might as well be as prepared as he could be for the long haul before he could find a way to get back home. ”I’ll need the rest of the Pokemon that I still have at home for starters,” he said, feeling a strange new sense of resolve welling up within him, ”If we have anything that could be useful around the house, items or Pokeballs or whatever else you can find, please send that over too. I can pick up everything once we can get to a PC, there’ll likely one in the next town over.”
”Alright, consider it done. If you need anything else, just message or call me or whatever. You better make it back home safe after all this, you hear me?” Zane simply smiled, feeling some semblance of comfort now that he knew his sister would be supporting him through this as best she could. He could understand her frustration at essentially being forced to be a sitting duck, but he’d rather try to rough it out here on his own than let her potentially risk her own life and safety as a wanted fugitive for his sake. If this was the way it had to be, then so be it.
”I will certainly try my best, sis. I promise I'll come back home as soon as I can, if all goes well.” After exchanging parting words for now and ending the call, Zane heaved a deep sigh as he turned to take stock of their surroundings. Much like New Bark, Littleroot was a fairly small town that had only a handful of houses scattered here and there, a Pokemon professor’s lab as the main standout building, and surrounded on nearly all sides by woodlands. The thickly forested town outskirts were pretty much only a hop, skip, and a jump away, but it’d certainly be best for them to at least have a map of the general area before setting out. 】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【 Well… assuming the path leading out of Littleroot Town was pretty linear like it was with Postwick and Wedgehurst, it would make sense that the next town over that likely had a PC was just up the road from here. Still, Zane was feeling incredibly out of his element in a place that he knew almost next to nothing about, surely there was some kind of map board or something along those lines that could give a more general layout…
”There’s a sign over here, master Zane,” Choux spoke up, the little Indeedee waving him and the others over towards a sign set up near the path leading out into the woodlands beyond the town outskirts. In thick, stylized lettering carved into the wood, it read out ‘Welcome to Littleroot Town’ with a smaller subtitle underneath it, ‘A town that can’t be shaded any hue’. And there, offset to the right of the rest of the writing was a red colored arrow pointing northwards with the words ‘To Oldale Town’ written in smaller text next to it. ”Right… If Oldale is anything at all like Wedgehurt, let us hope they do have a Pokemon Center there,” Zane murmured, pulling out his Rotom Phone once more, ”Roto-Phone, pull up a map of the Hoenn region, bitte.”
The light blue phone flipped over so the Rotom-faced side was looking towards him, its eyes half-lidded and its mouth in a flat line as if it seemed troubled. ”Angeforderte regionskarte nicht in gespeicherten daten gefunden… versuchen sie, die karte aus dem lokalen netzzzwerk herunterzzzuladen,” it announced in semi-staticky sounding electronic German, ” Bitte warten sie einige minuten bis der download abgeschlossen ist!” Hmmm… Maybe he should change the language settings for it at some point, but that could certainly wait for later. In any case, it’d take a bit for the phone to be able to grab a region map for them for the time being. But seeing as it looked like the route to Oldale from here was pretty straightforward, hopefully there shouldn’t be much worry about getting waylaid and possibly lost along the way.
As her new trainer and his Pokemon were caught up in discussing maps and where to go next and whatnot, Filo was feeling restless and a bit bored as she tapped her feet against the grass and looked all around at this new place. She was already so eager to see more of what the world was like, having been cooped up in the lab for so long back in New Bark Town with only the professor and his aides for company. Why weren’t they just getting out there to explore this brand new region already? The path leading out of town was literally only just a few yards away… The curious Chikorita had half a mind to just charge forth onto the path to push onwards towards whatever new adventures awaited them, but quickly found her attention drawn towards something else as her nose picked up a deliciously sweet scent wafting on the wind from somewhere nearby.
The leaf on her head perking up as her interest was drawn towards finding the source, pattering off a bit of a ways away from the others as she followed the scent like a Swinub on the hunt. Marzipan, ever vigilant, noticed the little grass dinosaur wandering off and carefully clocked the direction and anything around that could potentially be dangerous before breaking off to follow at a distance. She couldn’t see anything within the immediate area that could pose any significant danger, but someone had to keep an eye on the little one so she wouldn’t wander too far and potentially get herself into trouble…
Filo followed the scent closely until she finally stumbled upon the origin, a small brown knapsack that had been left lying against the trunk of a nearby tree. Had someone left it there? If so, it didn’t seem like anyone had stepped forth to claim it… Looking around carefully to make sure no one else was around, the Chikorita sidled up closer to the bag and, to the best of her ability with her tiny little clawed feet, finagled the little drawstring bag open and causing a small pile of blue colored candies, among a few other things, to spill out onto the ground. Oh! Well, she supposed if no one else was going to eat it now, well… might as well be her!
As Filo eagerly chowed down on all five of the little candies, feeling a sudden surge of strength run through her body as she did so, her excitement lasted all of about five seconds before she heard another voice speak up from behind her. ”You know you shouldn’t take things that don’t belong to you, right?” Marzipan tutted as she revealed herself, arms folded and quirking a brow at her smaller teammate as she eyed the disturbed bag lying on its side in the grass. Aside from the candies, the bag seemed to contain a small collection of various items, jars of honey, an assortment of different kinds of berries, some kind of device that resembled a spray bottle with a hand pump, a pair of light blue colored eggs, and a long stick of what looked like some sort of incense.
”Ah! Sorry, sorry! I just happened to find it here and I thought… Erm…” Filo piped up hastily, flustered and trying to save face. Acting quickly, she tried to scoop the items back into the bag as best she could, but only succeeded in making more of a mess as her little legs hardly proved sufficient for such a task. Chuckling a bit at the display, Marzipan stepped in, gently shooing the little dinosaur off to the side as she helped clean up the clutter and shove it back into the bag.
”My apologies, I didn’t mean to make you panic, but I couldn’t help myself when I saw the opportunity~” the Lopunny assured lightly with a hint of an impish smile, though her face softened as she picked up the bag and slung it over her shoulder, ”That being said, if no one else has claimed it then I suppose there’s no harm in us taking these. A lot of the things in here could be useful, and we could use whatever we can get if we’re going to be stuck here for a while.” She was admittedly pretty on edge being in a place like this, where the land was wholly unfamiliar and Arceus knows what kind of threats could be lurking around out there… Though Marzipan did her best to not let it show too much on her face, she had to keep a brave front for the sake of Zane and everyone else. And anything that dared to try to harm them would be served immediate justice by means of a swift kick to the face, at least if she had something to say about it.
”Oh? So… you’re not mad?” Filo asked, tilting her head as she looked up at the Lopunny with hope in her big red eyes. She’d been so sure that the motherly bunny would’ve immediately given her an earful and perhaps a spanking on top of that to teach her a lesson about taking what wasn’t hers, but it seemed like she was being surprisingly… cool about it?
Marzipan simply shrugged, giving a playful smirk and a wink. ”Why would I be? You haven’t given me any good reason to,” she assured as she turned to start walking back, pausing briefly to look back over her shoulder and narrow a green eye as if in warning, ”Yet, at least…” As the Chikorita’s face took on an expression of abject terror and turned a much paler looking shade of green at that, the Lopunny’s expression melted back into one of casual coolness as she gave a light, melodic sounding laugh.
”Kidding! I’m just kidding, dear~ You’ve nothing to fear from me, rest assured,” she quickly amended, feeling a touch bad for threatening their newest teammate even if she hadn’t been all that serious about it, ”Now c’mon, let’s get back before Zane starts worrying about us. And please try not to wander off too much, okay?”
”Y-Yes m’am!” Filo agreed without hesitation, quickly moving to trot off after her long-eared companion to reconvene with their trainer. Yeesh… As nice as the Lopunny lady was, she could be pretty damn scary when she wanted to be! Even if she might’ve only just been joking, the Chikorita made a quick mental note that for the sake of her own safety. It might be best to at least try to stay on her good side from here on… 】☆ ☆
