Oh man, there was this one time...
Prompt reply: Pythia scuffed her way across the hot desert sands, the cloth on her head the last remnant of her past, of those she had left. Oracle they had called her. Prophetess. Priestess. All were things she had been called once, though she had held on to only the first. It gave her an air of mystery, just as she wanted - just as she needed. The headscarf helped with that too, and let her piercingly blue eyes gaze down into the souls of the ones whose fortunes she would "see." It was all a game to her, though; it was a game where the queens and kings and the impoverished alike all lost, and she always won. They parted with their possessions in return for clever lies.
All the same, somewhere within her, Pythia knew that her lies gave the people she conned some comfort. After all, did she not read them to the best of her ability, tell them what they wanted to hear, clue them in to what she knew must pass? Perhaps she was a false oracle, a false prophet - but she could read the signs. She knew if rain was near and could tell if there was love between two people. It was things like battles and heavens and actions far in the distant future that she could not be sure of, and when she spoke of those, it was then that she was false. And so, as she wandered the desert, Pythia the Oracle attached the word "false" to her nickname. Only she would know it to be true, and only she would ever know.
