There is a distinct lack of history in an attempt to put everyone on more or less equal ground, what with airships being pretty new, but they've also been in production long enough that it's still distinctly plausible for someone to have been on one before. There just aren't any real, uhh, standard practices for everything yet. Otherwise piracy would be rare!

Hey friends ! So I am on holiday until the 7th and have questionable wifi access . Please please please quote me or message me if you need me ( but be aware I may not be able to get to you for about 12 hours ) and definitely hit up Roy and Thorn with questions 'n' such .
I did bring the templates with me so I can still make banners and mirrors for new characters , but I may not be doing posting layouts until I get back to my 12 x 8 laptop ( this one has an 8 x 5 and it's harder to make pretties on the small screen c; Also , I'm on holiday . My designing brain is turned off ><
But we will find some way to start this Roleplay before I get back , don't want to leave e'er'body waiting too much longer c;

Nathaniel Benbow “Nathan” Male | 12 | 4'9"
Specialty: Begging
Occupation: Street urchin and rather incompetent pickpocket
Crew Position: Stowaway wannabe
History: Nathaniel Benbow was born the second child of a dock worker and laundry woman in Moore Town. Growing up in a part of town tucked behind alleys even the nobler ship-rats avoided, Nathan shared half a moldy-cornered room with his two sisters. Despite the circumstances, his parents raised him honest. On days his father worked the night shift and brought home a bit for meat for breakfast, he attended public school. As a result, he's competent at basic arithmetic and half-literate, but unsurpassed at tolerating knuckle-raps and ear-pinches.
His father went from job to job as the years went by, never earning quite enough to pay off the small debt to the landlord nor little enough to end up on the street. When Nathan was eleven, the small world he knew was stricken with a terrible disease. Sickness spread through the tenements faster than flames the time Miss Bess's old mother on the first floor knocked over an oil lamp in her sleep. The tenants who survived were smoked out by men speaking of tearing down the entire rat's nest. Nathan's older sister Ruth disappeared, still coughing, two days before the eviction. He and his younger sister Janie were left orphaned on the streets.
His life as a street urchin wasn’t half bad, thanks to the generous ladies always willing to spare bits of tea-cakes and coins when they see Janie's wobbly-lipped begging. But he still cried when he didn’t think she was listening. He missed his parents, of course, and dreamed of finding Ruth.
Perhaps with some money, he thought, he'd be able to make things right. He didn't know how to do that, but he'd seen the sailors swaggering in from the docks, pockets so full of coins that they don't even notice one or two going missing. With that much money, he could buy a mattress, a really soft one, and maybe even that lollipop Janie kept crying over. And once he was rich, Ruth would surely come home.
With all this in mind, Nathan resolved to become a sailor. He snuck down to the docks each night, watching the loading and unloading of the merchant vessels, planning for the day he'd follow those men aboard and turn his life around.
Persona: Nathan has a resilient spirit and a stubborn attitude. He knows what he wants, but not how to get it or what’s standing in his way. He might lament his situation, but he’ll always get back on what he thinks is the track toward his goals.
Abilities: As far as Nathan knows, he has no special abilities. If he did, he’d be using them.
Strengths: Nathan can fit into small spaces. He is a little bit literate and very hungry. He has no fear of heights, creepy-crawlies, getting reprimanded, or getting dirty, and he’s only a little bit afraid of the dark. He’s also very persistent in getting what he wants, and pretty cute.
Weaknesses: For a kid who begs and steals for his dinner, Nathan is a surprisingly bad thief. He can’t keep a straight face while lying, or resist the urge to scratch those itches that appear just when he should stay still and hidden. He’s also rather gullible and physically weak for his age.
Shoe Size: US7, if you gave him a shoe his toes weren’t hanging out of. If you feed him he’ll probably end up growing like a beanstalk.
Other: Nathan begins at the Moore Town docks, searching for a job as a sailor. He doesn’t know how these things work, so he’ll probably hide aboard a Coalition ship (they do have fancy-looking uniforms, after all) until it sets sail. Once he’s stuck aboard, he’d probably make a pretty useful cabin boy or rigging monkey or what have you.
Am I doing this right? I finally made a profile! Please help me improve.

Want my opinion? Looks good to me so far. Not sure if a coalition ship would keep him on, as they have hired hands to do most of the tasks he could do, who is trained (and of age). He could... you know... always stow away on a motley pirate ship with a strange acting person... ninja
Overall, I can see his reasons for progressing within the story. He'll stowaway on a ship and either become part of the crew, or shipped back home. A coalition ship might have more attraction, but probably more fear attached to it. A "normal cargo" (pirate) ship might be more accepting (and less intimidating) for him to sneak onto...
Right now, as much as I love the concept of the character (and I have no official say here, so you can ignore me for the most part anyway), I am concerned about how your charter will interact within the story and not end up being separated and have you "playing alone". Might be easier (unless someone already has a starting point for your) to start as a stowaway already aboard a ship. It will give you an instant start with other people already there. (And then you can quickly be caught, and tossed overboard twisted... I mean have pity taken on you and be accepted into the crewwink... )
This is, of course, all up to you, and the role play leaders of this story. Merely some suggestions for you to think about. (I can say, if Gerald catches you, he probably wouldn't tell anyway, and give you some of "his" food. Because, well, he doesn't care if there is a stowaway on the ship... And when someone else ctaches you, he'd just go "Oh. Hi. Nate." with a little wave... and then have some explaining to do (again).)
Oh yeah, that's a good suggestion. I guess it doesn't really matter which kind of ship he ends up on, and he probably should start on it.
He would totally eat all Gerald's food and be really sorry when he finds out that's all.crying
So, does anyone else want me?

Gerald would share (just don't touch the cherry pie! stressed ). He'd probably walk into the hold where you are hiding and sit down to eat... ninja I'm sure Gerald would have enough food still, seen as I'm certain his deal with the Captain was food and a nice place to sleep. He doesn't even take any of "his share" of the loot, so I'm sure exceptions are made. And if he happens to "get a little more hungry", oh well.
Does anyone want you? Hello! YOU'RE A STOWAWAY! No one "wants" a stowaway... ninjapirate
How could anyone not want someone with puppy eyes like his? 3nodding Surely someone wants the entertainment of dealing with an ignorant, clingy little... sweatdrop

Gerald... just wouldn't "care"... Of course, Gerald probably isn't too much better in his own right... (And you're a thief. Might as well just admit it and get it over with. Then, take the next step up and go into Piracy! rofl )
I'm not sure how Gerald would deal with someone who clings to him... but... (Go to the dark side... We had cookies! twisted )
It would take a bit to convince Nathan to call himself a pirate even after he eats all the dark side's cookies. He has blind stubbornness, dead parents who probably told him pirates are bad people, and doesn't know what the word "hypocrite" means. But it would take the cunning of your average dairy cow to convince him that this wasn't the sort of piracy his parents warned him about. wink

We "had" cookies. Gerald ate them all... emotion_omnomnom Hence, we had cookies... ninja
Well, Gerald also had dead parents, so they relate even more that way. Gerald wouldn't even try to "deceive" you. He'd probably go, "You should watch yourself here." "why?" "Isn't it obvious? This is a pirate ship." *Walks off or something*
I think the question would be, would he do it for a full belly and a warm bed? (But don't try to sleep in Gerald's cabin, he has a tendency to wake up screaming in the middle of the night. He has night terrors, particularly in the dark. Only the wind reassures him upon waking that it isn't real. Being trapped in a mine cave in and crawling your way out of it would probably do that to anyone. I think he probably was eventually given a cabin of his own, or he sleeps with someone who is deaf... sweatdrop)
I'd leave the convincing to Fleur. Seems like something she would be likely to do. (Or she would smother you with attention, and then try to take you back home or something. Not sure.)

If Fleur found him aboard, she would probably turn him over to the captain (after sneaking him some food and making sure he wasn't hurt) with the expectation that work could be found for such an adventurous lad.
The clinging thing could become a problem. What to do with this 'growth'? She would not encourage such behavior, but ... puppy dog eyes you say?

It does sound like Nathan and Gerald would be able to bond over their pasts. And it would take a full belly, a warm bed, and the promise of pocket change. He doesn't know not to trust the promise of a pirate, or that there are sums of money that don't fit in pockets.
If the wind reassures him, maybe Gerald should sleep on deck. Maybe in a lifeboat? Does this pirate ship bother with lifeboats?

Yes, puppy eyes. Such puppy eyes. 4laugh. And we shall see whether he turns out super clingy or not.
For no obvious reason but ya say steam sale... And my life is good cause well... Paycheck time well a few days ago.
And thus I've spent a hundred bucks... Last year 2k SEK ... How you all doing?
^^ Tired but good.

lol, Those would be interesting dynamics, right there; one of those, "I got nothing personal against you, but I don't like the way you handle things" type deals. Did I get that right? (Sorry, it's early and I haven't had my coffee yet, so my brain's still trying to boot up, lol.)
I just need some clarification: Does this mean that Hester would prefer to have Archie on board as a crew member (rather than a passenger)? I can actually see him as her butler, even though she doesn't see him that way. Just let me know, and I'll ask Trance to make the changes if necessary. 3nodding
----- ღ☪ -----
He can start off as a passenger but then Hester realizes his potential and ask to higher him on board the ship. Or he could come aboard looking for a job, either way sounds good to me!
----- ღ☪ -----
Sounds good. I may have an idea on how to get him started, lol.
----- ღ☪ -----
Awesome, what is it?
Whelp on a side note, I did fix the music link. Just noticed that xD
----- ღ☪ -----
He starts out as a passenger, but throughout the voyage his knack for perfection comes through: he'd straighten out a painting or vase; fix table settings other than his own; or fix the flower arrangements--small things that people wouldn't really notice. Then one day, when he's dissatisfied with a pot of tea he ordered, he locates the kitchen and imposes by teaching the kitchen staff how to brew a proper cup of tea. How does it sound?
----- ღ☪ -----
Hahaha, that sounds good. The kitchen staff can file a complaint and so then Hester will invite him to her office and discuss the issue thus finding out about his perfectionist ways that are very similar to hers. Then as she plans out battle tactics and what not he can pip in every now and then, making Hester realize his battle knowledge and advice very helpful.
----- ღ☪ -----
^^ Awesome. ^^; I just hope I do Archie's character justice. Can't wait for the RP to start.

Well there is always my ship. The trouble with a smaller ship is less people and no one will not notice him as not part of the smaller crew. Even so Reim would give him an option work and eat then next at port sign a contract, get kicked off or leave. 3 Outcomes depending if the captain wants him and if he wants the life.
The other option given would be to starve or take the quick exit and hope to fly. Then he would be under watch by the discipline officer
