Room B6

He hadn't been in B6, he had no idea what was in there, and…. all the rooms had been important so far, even if he hadn't found the answer to all of them. Somehow, he just knew they were important. But also, it had a door, a door they could close behind them and no one would have to see that he'd been a fool.

He nodded grateful, and entered the room.

The door opens inwards.
The first thing you notice about this room is that it's cold. Unnaturally cold. The next thing you notice is that, save for a rusted, flat hospital bed in the centre of the room, it's empty. You take a few steps in--

BANG

The door behind you slams shut. As you jump to avoid getting hit, you bump into the old rusted bed - the moment you touch it, the single light above it flickers to life and, for a second, you think you see someone laying there.

You step back.

The light goes out.

The figure is gone.

Something about it unnerves you right down to your core.

Quote:

You are now in a Confinement Room

This room has only two options:

[ Try to touch the bed again ] or [ Avoid the bed; investigate the room ]

After responding to the prompt above, make your next selection with your choice in bold red, and quote The Escaped for your next prompt!

Please also put the following code at the top of your post while you are in this room:

[ ROOM B6 ]

He shivered, almost backing into the other boil again but, he didn't want to leave the kind boil to find things here in the dark on his own. Surely they must be feeling that same uneasy sensation that crawled over their skin.

And worse, how terrible was it that he wanted that table to stay… empty. He hurt, just a few moments laying down would surely be better than the pain that jolted through his every injury with each step.

He reached forward… and touched the table with his good hand.

[ ROOM B6 ]

There it was. Opportunity.

As the boil turned his back on him, Bren took in a slow, unsteady breath until he could no longer inhale. He found that now that it was the time to act, he had no idea what to do. Where did one inject a sedative for maximum effectiveness? And how was he meant to kill anyone... here?

He shivered, then jumped as the door slammed.

"Okay. Okay!"

The reaper yanked the syringe from his pocket and pulled off its cap, throwing it on the floor and closing the short distance between himself and Pachua. The needle slid into the back of the other boil's neck with only a bit of resistance, but Bren pushed past it, jamming the plunger down as he squeezed his eyes shut.

He made a startled sound, just a small reaction to the bite of the needle sliding between the fine, almost soft scales he possessed in his student form. It took no time at all for his eyes to roll back, his wings to drape wide, and useless to either side as he topped, unconscious, succumbing to the drug.

The syringe empties into Pachua's neck, and he goes down like a tonne of bricks, nothing more than a crumpled heap on the ground. As you try to stoop to check on him, your hip hits the rusted metal of the restraint bed -

The harsh white light flares back to life, filling the room so brightly it's blinding.

You're standing alone in the room, eyes mulling over a clip board. You can't read the words on the page, but you focus on them, scanning each line as if they contain something vitally important. There is a knock on the door that pulls you from your thoughts, and you step aside, pressing your back against the wall in order to allow enough room for the door to open. It does, and you are treated to the horrified screams of someone you recognize.

NO, they scream. PLEASE, DON'T- They beg. Two shapeless figures draw them into the room, and despite the screaming figure being literally dragged kicking and screaming, they don't seem to have any troubles holding on to them. The shapeless masses wrestle the familiar figure onto the bed and strap them in. They look to you for further instruction, and you feel yourself nod towards the door.

They leave and close the door behind them, leaving you alone with the figure now strapped to the bed.

You hang the clip board on the wall and approach the figure, grinning.

You lied to get them here.

It's someone you know, someone you had been horribly delighted to see pop up on the roster; they wronged you in the past, and you saw an opportunity to make them suffer. You created a false story that resulted in their being thrown into solitary confinement, and now you are alone with them, in a sound proof room. They can't avoid you here, not while they're strapped down by their ankles, wrists, and throat. They scream, they cry, they beg to be released, that they did nothing wrong, they shouldn't even be here - but nobody can hear them. Nobody will come to their rescue until you give the order to release them. You can't kill them or maim them too terribly, unfortunately; that would get you fired. But you do have a precious few minutes with them until you have to get back to the grind...

Quote:
Who is it? What did they do to you? What do you have to say to them - or do to them - in the few minutes you have before you leave them totally, utterly alone in the darkness?

Note: The 'offences' can be as serious or as slight as you want, and as canon or imagined as you'd like! If you opt to use someone else's character, please ensure that you have their player's permission before you start writing.

What to do now:
  • Write a response to the prompt above, but keep in mind that it has to be within Gaia's PG-13 guidelines!
  • With your post, roll a 1d100 and match your results with the prompts below:
1-75: Your piece said, you take the clipboard off the wall and say your goodbyes. You turn to leave the room, but the moment your hand touches the door handle, you stop. You realize something, and you look over your shoulder - Pachua is there, strapped to the restraint bed. He is completely still and unresponsive. You look down at your hands and you see the blood, and realize that, somehow during your hallucination, you killed him. You leave the room quickly, empty handed.
76-100: Your piece said, you take the clipboard, and pause to grab something else - a key, which is hanging from the wall by a thin cord. It has '201A' scrawled on a poorly taped over piece of paper.
    * Note: If this key has already been claimed, refer to and answer the prompt above it (as if you'd rolled 1-75).
  • You may either include the roll prompt in your main post, or make a second one - but you can only roll once.
  • Once you have finished this room, you can not come back to it again. It will simply not open for you, and if you try to sneak in with someone else, a mysterious force stops you.
  • You are now back in the [ HALLWAY ], and it seems there is a little Fracs waiting for you.

Brenley's surprise attack came as a shock, and as the contents of the syringe seeps into your system, you drop to the ground, unconscious. Everything is black for a moment, and then -

You had minded your own business. You had been good. But they came for you anyway. Two shapeless shadow figures came for you, and despite your attempts to avoid them they catch you. You are dragged, kicking and screaming, into a small room. Someone stands against the wall - but you can't recognize them just yet.

NO, you scream. PLEASE, DON'T- you beg. Your pleas fall on deaf ears. Your eyes focus on the rusted metal bed, terror lighting up your every nerve. You know what that bed means. It means you've done something wrong. It means you are going to be alone. you panic and struggle, but it's still fruitless. The shapeless masses wrestle you onto the bed and into the restraints which bind your wrists, ankles and throat. You look to the side; the masses are staring at the figure against the wall. The figure nods, the masses leave, and to your utter dismay you hear the door creak and slam closed.

You are alone with a figure you can't properly see yet.

They hang a clip board on the wall and approach you. You think you see them grin---

And then you recognize them.

It was someone you know. Someone you had wronged in the past. You did something that you regretted, but had never voiced your apologies. Suddenly, you realize something: that was why you were here, isn't it? They lied to get you here, because you hurt them. They wanted to make you suffer for it, and now you have no choice but to listen to them. You prey that they don't kill you for it, pleading to the unknown that they won't risk it for fear of getting fired; but the fact remains, you are at their mercy...

Quote:
Who is it? What did you do to them? What do they have to say to you - and what do they do to you - in the few minutes they have before they leave you totally, utterly alone in the darkness? What do you have to say to them, in return? Do they even give you a chance to say anything?

Note: The 'offenses' can be as serious or as slight as you want, and as canon or imagined as you'd like! If you opt to use someone else's character, please ensure that you have their player's permission before you start writing. Also keep in mind that your response does not have to include violence at all - it can just be guilt, or ranting! It's entirely up to you how you respond to this, just keep in mind that gaia is pg-13!

But after their piece is said, whomever had put you in here leaves you alone in the darkness - a darkness you won't wake up from again.

Pachua is now dead - Congrats?

[ ROOM B6 ]

He couldn't breathe, his panic so intense that he just stood there dumbfounded for a moment in silent shock. Five to ten minutes. That was what he had been told. It wasn't long.

Bren still hadn't gathered himself completely when he kneeled with the intention of checking on his victim. His hip skimmed against the table as he did so, and a flash of light filled the room, so bright that it forced tears to his eyes.

He wasn't even supposed to be here. Well, he was, just not today. Not with her. He had been pretty sure she was just being brought in for a routine shakedown when he'd found her file with the pile of those being brought in for questioning. He could have left it alone. He should have. In the end, the temptation proved too great. He had framed her, and now she would suffer for what was barely any reason at all.

There was a pounding knock at the door, and he found himself smiling as he moved into the shadows, bobbing up on his toes as it creaked open and the thugs dragged her into the room. She raised her voice once as they strapped her to the bed, her plaintive "No!" lifting the hairs on the back of his neck. There hadn't been much shouting back home. It made him feel guilty now, like he'd been caught breaking something priceless.

One of the men nodded as they lumbered out of the room. As the door swung shut behind them, he stepped into the light.

"Mother."

She turned to him with a gasp, her lively orange eyes dull with fear. "Brenley, dear... what is happening?"

"Nothing you won't recover from. Nothing that will leave you any more scarred than I am." He touched her arm, his pale fingers practically glowing against her darker skin. "I just wanted to return the favor."

"For what?"

He squeezed her wrist and smiled faintly before he turned to go, liberating the clipboard from its hook.

"What favor?"

Brenley touched the door's cool handle and—

The lights dimmed perceptibly, leaving him partially blinded until his eyes regained focus. He was not supposed to be questioning anyone, he was supposed to...

He looked down at his hand where it rested on the door. It was spattered red.

Pachua. He had stabbed him with that syringe, but no needle could have possibly produced this much blood. He looked behind him reluctantly, a thin whine rising from his chest when he saw what he had done. A trail of feathers led from the table to his boots, large patches of them pulled from the boil's wings. And then there were the pliers. There had clearly been several attempts to jab them through Pachua's ribs, but when that had failed, they had ended up in his throat, poking out of his skin like a particularly ostentatious piece of jewelry.

There were no thoughts of covering up what he had done. Bren simply had a mindless urge to flee, so he did, nearly tripping over the Fracs that was sitting outside.

(Fixing)

He knew, he knew the second he saw them and the fear and the shame of the previous rooms had come back to haunt him, more than that, his return to the school had come back to haunt him. That was part of why he was here to start with, he'd run away from his duties, no one ever truly escaped, not duties like that. As good as he had been they chased him down, he wasn't fast enough, would never be, nor was he strong enough to fight his way free.

“No… no no, Please, please DON’T!”

He knew it would come back to haunt him, he knew but he’d hoped all the same. The shadowy figured had come for him, and they dragged him, kicking and screaming to a small room. A sort of phobia crept through the back of his mind, redoubling at the sight of that rusty bed. //Inevitable// Some part of his mind, or some fear that twisted deep in his stomach wanted him very focused on the moment, on the similarities. It was too like the stone slab that waited for him, hungry golden stone with old stains. To be strapped to that, hands feet and neck, oh too much like a shadow of his fear and shame. He could not face being strapped to that, and left alone.

“No… no… no…” He whispered, a plaintive childish cry, a tremulous whimper. “Don’t… not there, not there, please…please no, NO!”

But his pleas fell on deaf ears, they didn’t care, they had no reason to care. They dragged him onto the bed and forced him down into the restraints, headless of what they did to the wing feathers that were trapped in between.

He could see the figure, leaning against the wall, the longest wing feathers dusting the floor at rest. They turned, and hung a clip board on the wall before approaching,

“No…” he said more a sob than a plea. “No….no… NO, you… you can’t have, you wouldn’t have! I… I just couldn’t stay!” His wings pushed uselessly against the table, lifting him slightly and tugging at the straps to no real effect.

“Ahhhh…” She hissed, her eyes a brilliant cerulean, her scales a vivid green that went from jungle leaves to bright acid in their pattering over deep caramel skin. "Ah but you LEFT, you left and you knew there would be consequences. You abandoned your duty, what did you think that the elders would say? Did you think they would just…shrug their shoulders and say “oh well, the one we raised to fill a purpose decided he couldn’t handle fulfilling the reason he was BORN?”

She leaned over him, tracing a blade made of obsidian over his chest and resting the cold glassy surface just under the curve of his ribs.

“Did you really think, you could escape the inevitable?”

She shook her head slowly back and forth, scolding. “Did you think, it wouldn’t catch up with you? There will be NO honor in your death now, you are branded… a coward, you are without pride, or honor.”

She flashed a grin without humor. “… but I will not die in your place. Not for a faded –freak, even if you are my brother.”
"I really think, that the Elders and the Tezcatl will understand if I save them a little trouble, don't you? They just want your wings.... And your heart." The grin grew wider as she added the last piece of information, as though he could ever forget.

She gripped the top edge of one wing and pushed floor ward with all her weight behind it. All he could do was scream, and she was far from finished.

[ SHOWERS ]

Marzena had left the room that she had gotten a bone from, and her foot unceremoniously stomped upon. And with her recent injury, she had decided to abandon her earlier idea of heading upstairs to explore, and instead, hobbled downstairs to the basement once again.

As she passed one of the doors, she swore she heard the sound of water coming from within, which immediately piqued her curiosity. The ghoul pushed open the door, relief crashing down on her shoulders as she noticed the shower stalls.

A cold shower sounded quite good right about now.

[ SUPPLY CLOSET ]

After a nice shower, Marzena was ready to continue exploring. Her dark blue tresses were still slightly wet, but with a towel slung around her neck, the ghoul looked less grumpy than usual.

Trying another door, it had opened easily, and she found herself staring at a very tightly packed room with things that seemed that they would prove useful.

Gathering what she deemed necessary, she then left.

[ ROOM B5 ]

She had stared at the fence that had blocked the way to B4, and then decided to try the door to the room right next to it instead.

It opened quite easily and she found herself peering into a dark room full of fog. Thank goodness she had taken one of the flashlights, Marzena thought as she clicked the button to switch it on, and shone it into her room.

[ SHOWERS ]

Mathias blinked as soon as he stepped back out of the room, giving his head a shake as what he had just seen, what he had just done continued to cling to his brain, lingering in his mind like a bad dream. It had seemed so real, but there was no way it could have been. Inside, his stomach was a twisted and tangled mess of emotions, though most predominantly of these, was disgust. It made him feel sick, nauseous. He could feel bike rising up in his throat.

It had been disgusting, and now he felt disgusting for having witnessed it, for having done it, real or not.

With his face pale and his hands trembling slightly, Mathias made his way back down the hall, stopping at the showers, hearing the water running within. He entered, and with only a moments pause, began disrobing himself from torn and bloodied clothes, leaving them stored in a side cubby before he unwrapped the bandages that covered various parts of his body. Disposing of these, he then stepped into the shower, and attempted to wash away what he had just seen, wash away the filth, make himself feel clean again.

It was nice, for a few moments, to be able to pretend that this, at least, was normal. He could imagine being back in his room at amity, showering, getting ready to go out, maybe even to go and see his friends. The water sluiced through dried blood, stung against his cuts before becoming more soothing. The minutes ticked by, and finally, he emerged, feathers ruffling up then smoothing down flat, long hair towel dried as best as he could manage, body gingerly treated to a drying as well, though he had to be gentle around some of the larger lacerations that decorated his torso still.

Sighing, he went to retrieve his clothes, pulling out one of the boxes of bandaids before carefully placing several of them on the parts of him that needed it most.

He then got redressed, pulling on pants, socks, boots, shirt, jacket.

He felt better, certainly. Physically at least.

Mentally was another story.

He made his way back out into the hallway, steeling himself to face whatever he would need to next.
