“YOU’RE redundant… man, did they fail you out on being scary because you’re too bland so you’re back to TRY again? Get over yourself and try and be Useful.”

“Hey… we can still throw the dull one here at it, then at least we can figure it out without tripping over it.” He pointed at the ghoul with the snotty attitude.

Picking up his pace, Jove began to run, not even caring about his footing. At least until he slipped, and coins scattered under his feet. He stopped... Picked one up, and examined it closely in the torchlight. It looked old. He meant to put it down, but for some reason he slipped it into his pocket instead.

It was one thing to discover that he was not capable of rescuing Remi and Amrita, and another to discover that he had just killed a key.

Thackery. Killed a key.

Shun and Gene's words fell on deaf ears as he crumpled to the ground, eye-level with the shattered pieces of the key. He didn't move - he just lay there, whimpering and sobbing.

Then, slowly, he reached towards the pieces with one hand, and miserably tried to put them back together again. He was muttering to himself, but it was inaudible, if he was even speaking actual words at all.

(He lingered a little longer. Because... he was so hungry.)

HP: 15

Finally Jove emerged into the room, which was a scene of chaos. Some were missing, and some... He eyed the black shadow in the center of the room and a growl slipped from his throat.

But rather than attack first and ask questions later, he darted over to Mathias and let the wolpertinger share some of his remaining FEAR. He was not going to let his friend die here!

HP: 12 - 4 = 8

His ears pricked backwards as he felt the presence of the power source here. It wasn't just his height, which even dwarfed him, it was the feeling around him. It was something like being shoved into a too-small box, as it was set to sink down to the bottom of the ocean. Even with as much courage as he could muster, this... thing, scared the hell out of him. What was even more frightening, was he was staring at himself, just as still and just as motionless, next to Amrita. He was dying? He felt real, he felt whole. Was this true?

"No, still no." Remi could not sacrifice any of them, not even for Amrita, he couldn't. He stared down at the people in the room again, watching them. He even felt himself smiling, realizing that Shun had indeed kept true to his promise and was attacking the shadowy creature. At least some things would be all right - But... He noticed another figure, and he felt something deep inside his chest stop abruptly for a second. Thackery. What was he doing here? No, Thackery, stay away from that crown. He wanted to scream at him, scream for him to stay away, to not touch it. He saw Thackery reflected, and flicked his eyes up a the creature. Was Remi here because he was 'interesting' after all? Is that way Thackery was deflected, or were there other purposes?

"Okay, If i am just fragments of memories... why don't we have a little chat? What could it hurt if i am dying anyways." He felt oddly calm about this, or perhaps that was the shock. Maybe he was just memories, and unable to feel any sort of sorrow for his death anymore. "Who are you? What... Why are you doing this?"

“Well…now we know that it dosen’t eat…everyone.” He said sounding disturbed, his feathers drawing close to him at what he’d witnessed.

“And coins don’t seem to do anything at all, not even a twitch or a swatting hand.”

He puffed his feathers and took a breath.

Jack-dangit… he wasn’t any less than his friends, and he’d prove it. Maybe the fact he’d been gone, would let him do what they couldn’t.

He made to grab the crown

He wasn’t resorting to trying to kill it, or leaving them behind unless there were truly… no other option, that would just be, well rather like that witchy-ghoul with the attitude.
