Agony. Pure agony. Stormfall had attempted to rise to her hooves to take the battle to Psyche. The blue flutter still held onto her companion and she wished to get it back. Above her the battle raged as two parties clashed together. It seemed that it was strange to see the mare that Stormfall herself had attack turn around and seemingly attack one of her own herd mates. Stormfall shook her head in an attempt to clear the ringing from her ears. Her gaze swung in the direction that Psyche was in. It was then that Stormfall realized that her grandfather had arrived on the scene. Balrog's powerful frame collided with Infernum knocking the stallion off his feet. It seemed a fair sort of payback. Balrog was giving Infernum a taste of what Infernum had just given to her. Struggling once again Stormfall got unsteadily to her feet and took a few lurching steps towards Psyche before she groaned. "Keep your word mare. Release my companion now."

tefla Engaged with Wynter Fury and Canaan
Seance winced at Wynter's words. She didn't know if she could escape right now or now, but she did stay on the ground. "Help, Daddy..." he said lamely, looking like a scared little filly more and more than a vicious monster that had just tried to kill a full grown stallion.
Canaan coughed, rolling over and trying to get to his feet. As the oxygen began to flow back to his brain and the world came back into focus, he looked over to the little squiggling purple creature and swallowed back the fleeting desire to pummel her skull in. Finally on all four hooves, but still wobbly, he looked over to Wynter. "Well done," he said, flashing her a smile. "Now what do we do with her?"

Calliope is KNOCKED OUT This Soquili is now out of combat, and should be ignored by aggressors. The knocked out Soquili can still be captured if the character is open to capture in their form. sabin duvert separating out Calliope & Spellbound for now, feel free to bring Meg back in whenever
Spellbound flew as fast as his flutter wings could carry him, desperately trying to catch Calliope before she hit the ground. He reached out, taking a big mouthful of her mane as she fell, bracing his neck as he tried to stop her rapid decent. She jerked, crying out...at least she was still alive! Spellbound, however, was unable to keep afloat himself. The weight and velocity of Calliope's fall was pulling him down as well.
Spellbound's intervention, while it didn't prevent her from hitting the ground at a lethal pace, she still hit heavily. Her body screamed out in pain as the blackness began to cloud her vision and soon she was out cold, as Spellbound fell onto her.

Legion lived in a state of chaotic constant. While his mind was a vast, maddening twisted funhouse of different voices and desires he navigated his body with a confident and strong projection of restrained purpose. But as Megaera came at him, hooves and fire and mane and screams, he looked, uniformly, confused.
He growled viciously as some of the hits landed hand on his body, and he punched his wings forward and tried to fly out of her range. "She is the enemy!" he hissed at her. "We do not want to hurt you, Megaera but We have a mission!"

AZURE is DEAD or DYING This Soquili is now out of combat. Immediate medical attention required, if its not already too late!

Azure was trying to roll over into his back so he could try to fend off the dark unicorn, but his body refused to cooperate. His back legs didn't seem to want to move, and a numb tinging feeling was spreading from his neck, to his shoulders, and finally down his spine. He snorted, struggling for breath as he was lying nearly completely face down in the dirt and rocks.
Though it happened in a matter of seconds, it felt like an eternity for Azure. Unable to look up and see what was coming, all he could see from his vantage was the blue-and-purple-and-silver clops of his mate and his daughter coming to his aid. He tried to call out to them. To warn them; to tell him to run. The Herd had warriors to protect them, there was no need for them to put their lives on the line like this.
But sound would come. As he opened his jaw to yell, Tara's horn came from behind - ripping straight through his neck. His voice cut off in a gurgle and he collapsed, falling into a rapidly increasing pool of blood.
Kamiki was mid-charge when Tara impaled Azure's neck with his horn. She stopped immediately in panic, nearly falling directly over her hooves from the velocity. Her heart seemed to turn to stone and fell into the deepest pit of her stomach and she felt the stinging of tears spring to her eyes immediately. "AZURE!" she screamed manically.
Somewhere, somehow, in her soul....she knew it was too late. Her vision turned to her daughter. "Arcana no!" she screamed, and fear propelled her forward. She rushed at her, desperately pulling at her mane and tail. "No! No we have to go," she screamed, trying to pull her away from Tara. They had to run and find help; there was no way she was going to lose her mate and her daughter in the same hour.
It all happened so fast. Had Chandler not been, just moments before, asking Kamiki to make him a simple necklace for a lovely mare he had a simple crush on. That was supposed to be what was occupying his mind. That was supposed to the hardest and most difficult thing he had to worry about.
But then the attack, and his world seemed to be shattering right before. As soon as he heard the battlecries, he had taken wing; rushing off to defend his heard. He hadn't anticipated, or seen, the black unicorn who was deceptively closer than he expected. Instead of rushing into battle, Chandler had started to run away from an encounter, and now he felt he was too late.
"Azure! Kamiki! Arcana!" he called, folded his wings and dive bombing towards Tara like a falcon in the dive.

Sabin Duvert Lurking at the base of the waterfall
((Kumiho has maxed stats)) The silver fox could smell the blood, the fur, the sweat, and the fear. It tingled her whole body - making her nearly giddy. Perhaps this was the closet thing skinwalkers could to feel to love - a heady, powerful, exhilarating that made her body tingle with pleasure and her head light and dizzy with sensation. She had been lurking around the shadows the entire time, watching her plan take form.
But now she made her way back to the alter she had told Firestorm to build. She licked her lips and wiggled her tails in anticipation, circling crumpled and broken mare that he had thrown from the top of the waterfall. She stayed hidden; even from Firestorm, though she had to show such great restraint. She wanted so badly to taunt the mare...to give her a taste of what was to come.
She considered this her own victory as much as Firestorms. She had set him on this path, and now there would be much suffering because of it.

CitrusCupcake Shinoma (not directly addressed, but I think she's nearby) Diogenes watched the hawk tumble across the ground as he kicked it away. He gave a satisfied snort, then turned his cold gaze back to Leonhart and Gabrielle. He lowered his long, spiral silver horns and pawed at the ground, kicking up dirt like an angry bull. With a roar of power he charged again, regaining his momentum.

Kamiki Engaged with Seance and Canaan Wynter Fury was glad that she'd come back to help Canaan. Although she was suffering the mare glanced around before turning her gaze to the stallion. Her spaded tail flicked back and forth a few times as she tried to muster her thoughts. She was still a newcomer to the herd Canaan would have known better what to do with an invader. "What does the herd normally do in circumstances like this?"
Fury let her gaze settle on Seance again. Her gaze softened for a moment as she tried to imagine what could have happened had this fight been lost, "Why did you do this? Why bring such misery upon our herd?"

(( OOC: I'm bringing in Tsunami. I had asked Sabin about it and it was ok'ed. I posted her profile in the plot thread for this RP )) (( Tsunami is maxed stats )) There was a storm brewing. Dark clouds loomed ominously over the mountains that held the secure valley. Tsunami's herd and home lay in those mountains and she knew that she could not stay away any longer. Lightning arced from the clouds and Tsunami felt the answering rumble of thunder before taking wing. The flight was becoming difficult with the pale blue mare having to watch the horizon for lightning. Finally though she came upon familiar landmarks.
Tsunami caught sight of movement. A lot of movement and she sped up the tempo of her flight. Something was not right. Catching movement on the ground below Tsunami narrowed her gaze and then backpedaled as she caught sight of her mother. But who was the strange mare nearby? Tsunami slowed and began her descent.(( Tsunami's going to engage someone ))

Psyche began to breathe more easily as she saw the enemy mare's attention wrest away from her mother and towards Psyche herself. Good. Good good. The plan was working.
For a moment, she hesitated. Her grip had loosened and the creature flapped frantically, while the brown mare grew obviously anxious and demanding. But fortunately, it was giving her mother the time she needed to get away.
She considered holding onto it a few more minutes, to try to get the mare to back down all together. But Psyche lacked both the madness and the overt antagonistic, some might say evil, streak that characterized many of those in her family and herd. Anxiety squrimed in her stomach and she opened her mouth, releasing the little thing.
The skies were getting awfully crowded, though, and before her eyes, she saw a massive dark stallion drive Infernum - her brother - over the edge of the cliff.
With a gasp, she ran to the edge to see what had happened. Infernum had been caught off guard by the impact, and even as the massive wind began to gain altitude again, Infernum flapped, his wings getting wet by the splash of the waterfall. She watched him slow his fall, but before he could gain altitude again, he impacted the water below.
Her attention was completely on the goings-on at the base of the waterfall. She watched Infernum come up for breath and start to make his way to the edge of the river...

NOTE: I accidentally edited instead of quoted this post and lost the original. I did a basic rewrite of what I rememberMegaera sobbed and brimmed with anger and confusion as the White beast disengaged. "She's MY DAUGHTER!" She screamed at him. She had been so loyal to Taraxippus, so loyal to her herd.... but nothing was stronger than her bond to her children. Not now. Not any more.

tefla Engaged with Wynter Fury and Canaan
Canaan eyed Seance, frowning a bit at the blood coming from her shoulder. Partially why he asked a test to see how she would reply; would she be merciful? Vengeful? He breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't just bash her skull then, though even under these circumstances it would have probably been understandable. But her Kalona blood didn't seem to make her more violent than necessary, which shone well on her.
However, there was more fighting and others that needed their help. The urgency was pressing, and he contemplated finishing Seance off himself.
Seance's tentacles twirled around her. "Because Daddy said so...." she said weakly. She took a deep breath, licking her lips in determination. Squeezing her eyes shut she summoned all that was left of her courage and strength to try and make a break for it.
((Rolling...if she gets above a 6 or above, she slips away into the shadows. If she gets 5 or below, Canaan and/or Wynter can re-engage her.))

Note: Arcana is maxed out"NOOOO!" Arcana screamed, her throat raw as Kamiki caught her mid-charge. Arcana was practically beside herself in a mixture of rage and grief. Her body quivered, frothing with sweat as her eyes rolled in her head. "Noooo! Father!" Her screams turned into sobs as she burried her face into her mother's soft, purple fur. All of that anger melting into exhaustion and seeking that comforting presence, that smell that felt so instinctively familiar and motherly even though she had grown up apart from her. This comfort, in her agony and rage, she needed that now, and let Kamiki guide her away from the monster she had once called brother.

Note: Taraxippus is maxed outTaraxippus whinnied in triumph as he stood over the still form of the flutter stallion. For years, he had put up with the insufferable Arcana, thinking that her weakness marred his bloodline. Ending that flutter's life was second to the crushing blow he dealt to his 'sister's psyche. But more than that, it was a sign, it was an unveiled threat on this herd the death that would be brought to them if they resisted this invasion. Taraxippus couldn't see every conflict that waged around him, but he truly believed that other battles must be going just as successfully as his own. That it would just be a matter of time till this herdground was theirs.
He swept his head around, scanning the battlefield - at least the ground. A flash of purple caught his attention as he saw, and felt his own stomach squirm - his daughter, Seance, on shaking legs, turning away from two winged soquili. His ears flattened and he kicked into a gallop, golden eyes flashing.
He had missed her bravado, and from this distance, he missed her words and how severe her injuries were. He ran up, flashing her a Look, and squared off against Wyntre Fury and Canaan.
"Where do you think you are going, daughter?" He asked, but his eyes remaind on the other pair. There was no disguising the dripping blood running down the spiraling channels of his horn.
Kamiki Taraxippus is moving to assist Seance.

Darkstorm had not expected this. She had seen in the dark wind stallion a weak, vulnerable stallion unused to combat. Her father had built up in her head how effortless this take-over would be with the numbers that they had between his family and the allies of the shadow herd. Firestorm had spoken about how fat and lazy this herd must have gotten isolated up here in the mountains.
What she had seen as weakness in this stallion was actually a tactic.
And now, it was the weight of a full grown stallion on her back. Already, she had been struggling to climb to his altitude, but with his added weight, she couldn't begin to hold the two of them aloft.
They began to plummet towards the ground below. It was just fortunate that Darkstorm had not been in flight long before he landed on her - they were not nearly as high as some of the other aerial battles.
But on the other hoof - that left her less time to maneuver.
She flicked her tail up again, lashing it against Ashfall's hindquarters, hoping to dislodge the stallion.
* * * * * *
Ashfall kept his cool as they began to careen towards the earth that grew larger and larger as they fell. Unlike his hotblooded father and siblings, Ashfall had inherited his mother's cool-headedness and wisdom. He was strong, brave, but knew when tactics and intelligence played a larger part in a victory. He knew these herdgrounds, and that was an inherant advantage. He had learned to fly here. He knew how high up he was, and how long they had before they hit. Silently, he kept count in his head... seventeen.... sixteen... fifteen.... He couldn't stay on her back all the way to the ground or he would be nearly as injured as she. He'd need to leap off at the right moment: giving him enough time to catch a draft, but not enough time for her to recover.
But suddenly there was a sting of pain against his flank as the mare fought against him, even though she was pinned between him and gravity itself. He grit his teeth. He couldn't back down now, even though blood began to pool in the lashmarks.

Kamiki Engaged with Seance and Canaan Sabin Duvert And Taraxippus too it seems Wynter Fury held her breath as Seance answered her question. There was a sense of astonishment at the reply. Disbelief clouded her expression as she listened and comprehended the words. Would she have done such a thing if she had been in this mare's position? Part of her vehemently denied that she would ever cause such hardship on another individual. It just wasn't who she was.
It was then that Wynter realized that the mare was attempting to escape them. Anger flashed through her eyes briefly as she contemplated running the mare down. It would have been easy too until the newcomer arrived on the scene. Wynter took in the stallion's appearance and stopped in shock. Blood was dripping down his horn and the mare couldn't help but wonder morbidly whose blood had been spilled.
As she caught the word daughter from the stranger Wynter saw the resemblance between the two and uncertainty took a step back towards Canaan.
