The sight of the White Queen brought a flood of recognition to KEYS, of a time where he had been the king of his own kingdom. King Thackery, the Gatekeeper, reigning leader of the Violet Kingdom of Tartaros.
This place was nice, but it was incomparable to the kingdom he had been able to call home, if only for a short time. This place kind of reminded him of that, a little bit - it was all friendly, and there were minipets, and the Alice girl kind of seemed like she felt the way he did. She didn't really want any of them to leave, even if they had to.
And neither did he. He liked the idea of having an entire kingdom to love and cherish, to show his own love by proving he knew what was best for them.
He wondered if Alice knew what was best for them, just like he had. If she did, that meant getting rid of the Queen was the right thing to do. He wouldn't have liked it very much if a bunch of people came to take his Queen away from him, but he hadn't seen any Kings around, and she looked like she was alone...
Maybe this was okay. It was probably the right thing to do. Yeah, he was helping by doing this, not hurting anyone!
He was not very strong, and had spent most of his time here chasing minipets and eating cake, but he believed in himself, and had a lot of love for a lot of things, and that had to count for something, right?
Normally, no.
But it did here, in this Wonderland, which almost seemed magical in its ability to give all of them what they wanted. At least, that was how it seemed to him, in his very narrow view of this world. Cake appeared when they wanted it, and they were always able to talk to their friends, and even his brother was here with him! It was like a game about the elysian fields, and he didn't know how anyone could be disappointed with that. Everything was so bright, and happy, and wonderful. Maybe that was why it was called Wonderland!
He spent some time just chasing his March Hare in circles around the White Queen's feet, before he remembered what he was supposed to be doing here. Everyone else was already fighting, and someone had been kind enough to help all of their fallen friends back up. He was going to have to do a lot of catching up if he wanted to look as awesome as all of them, when he had not been playing the game in the same way that they had.
But he could do it. He was confident. If anyone could, he was the one.
He held his head high, straightened the crown that was clipped into his hair, and strode into battle like the Violet King had never really gotten the chance to.
When he came back up, it started to come back to him. Some woman--her name was Phymi, wasn't it? He saw that above her head--some woman struck him instead of the damn Queen. What did she think she was doing?! He wasn't the target! Did he look like the target? He wasn't even a woman, so he couldn't have been the Queen anyway. And even if he was royal, he would never call himself a Queen! He was a King, dammit. He was not the White Queen and he certainly wasn't worth striking!
"HEY!" Blightning's head whipped around, trying to locate where Phymi had went. Forget the Queen, for a moment, he had someone to go yell at. Didn't she realize what they were actually supposed to be doing? Like ... fight the Queen? Not each other? He shouldn't've had to respawn in order to go back to fighting the queen...
Not seeing her, Blightning realized there was another, probably easier way he could yell at her. He had caught her name. He could type out a message on that damn Pocket Card! When he pulled it out, it beeped at him to warn of low health before suddenly modifying to show he was at full. Well, that was useful, at least. He didn't have to worry about dying when he hit the White Queen again anymore. That was a plus.
He was still mad, though, and despite his momentary distraction with suddenly being more healthy and more physically able, he still managed to tap off a very unhappy message in the direction of a certain fellow Red Queen devotee with a giant weapon that really should have been aiming at the White Queen. Seriously, what were they going to accomplish by aiming at each other? They'd never get to Alice that way...

He naturally was not aware that it was a Sacrifice that he had been, which had given his team an extra boost for their attacks for a little while, but it was possible Blightning would not have cared even if he did know that. There were plenty of other people that could have been sacrificed, anyway. He was awesome, and he did a lot of damage! Why would anyone want to bring him down?! It enraged him, really, made his eye twitch a little -- until he decided that getting angrier over what was probably a mistake when he had already yelled at the person involved was rather silly.
Someone had resurrected him, anyway. It was no big deal. He could go back to fighting the White Queen like nothing had happened.
And so he did, charging forth and swinging one last time at the White Queen.

Tall, with dark skin and dark hair. His eyes glow faintly, and parts of his skin do in the same color, blue streaks and freckles throughout. He seems fairly athletic. He wears the clothing of the Insane Mad Hatter, but in bright blues and bright purples, looking distinctly mad indeed.
Byakko had stepped back and stopped his Illusion from attacking for a bit, just to see how others were doing in the fight against the White Queen. It seemed like everyone was doing pretty well, though some had been defeated. Thankfully someone with an awesome ability was able to come in and revive everyone that had been defeated previously in the fight. He smiled then randomized his battle cards again. His eyes went wide and his smile turned into a grin when he saw the first one out of the three cards. His special tenth card was the first one he got.
His smile turned into a smirk and he activated it then looked at the other two cards he had pulled out. A defense and a heal. Good cards but he was slightly disappointed he hadn't attacked. Oh well, at least anyone who attacked the White Queen before he did again would get boosted and a guaranteed attack of at least 1. He healed his Illusion even though he really didn't need it that much thanks to the defense roll of last time. Byakko looked around and hoped others would notice his effect. He would hold off attacking one last time for a bit to make sure.

When he had first come to Wonderland, it seemed like any other dream. KEYS never really noticed suspicious things in worlds like this, and always tried to enjoy them for what they appeared to be at face value. He was not brilliantly logical, and could not work his way through the puzzle of being trapped in this world, but he was happy, and that was all that mattered to him.
And as he kept playing, he'd only gotten happier. He found Remi, and then his brother. It was comforting to know that they were right here with him, that he could send them a message any time he wanted to, and they could instantly respond.
It used to be that way. Before his visit to Deus Ex, he had the chance to see them every day. He spent a lot of time regretting all of the times that he opted not to. After a while, he'd begun to regret that he attended his classes, or worked alongside the Student Council to do his job as treasurer, because that meant spending less time with them.
After the first month, it started to hurt to think that he had ever spent one single second of his life without them. Because now he didn't even have the chance. He didn't know if he'd ever see them again.
In the second and third months, the pain began to subside, replaced by another in his heart. Kind of literally, when he thought about it - and now there was a fracture there, pieces missing from the absence of the FEAR he needed to survive. They weren't able to help him, because something happened that they didn't really explain. He understood, and couldn't fault them for it, because he knew all about the super special secrets that had to be kept. He had a lot of his own, and he was a very good boy during his time there, and didn't share them with anyone.
He had shared a lot with them, though. His time, and his company, and he tried not to think about the friends and brothers that he was not sharing that time with.
And now that he was with them, they were just in a dream together, playing the same game. Did that count? Was he a bad friend? A bad brother?
His ears drooped as he watched his March Hare leap in and out of the fray, nipping at the White Queen when it could. He wanted to cheer it on, but he didn't really feel very cheerful. Maybe he wasn't a good FEARleader, either.
He'd been a good king, though! He remembered that he was supposed to be fighting, but a Caterpillar was not very good for that sort of thing, so all he could do was make attempts to shield himself from the White Queen's attacks.
She must have been a Bad Guy, if she was hurting everyone, even when they hadn't hurt her.
HotRocks had really thought that she wouldn't be seeing the White Queen again since she had said that she didn't want to meet again. Sighing as she was a little confused to why the White Queen would have said something like that to only battle them later on. Oh well HotRocks thought A battle was a battle regardless of who there was to fight. But she did wonder a little to why the White Queen wanted to fight them, but those thoughts were pushed a side for now as she when in for the attack.
She was totally liking these ability cards as HotRocks didn't know why she didn't use them till now and now she would use them as much as she could from now on. As she make her attack hitting the queen fully head on.

Why was she hurting them, anyway? The story they'd been told didn't seem to give a very good reason, and she was definitely the one who attacked first, as far as he knew. There were pieces missing, and that might have seem suspicious to KEYS, had he been able to tell that it was anything to be concerned about in the first place.
So he knew only what he saw, which was this place they'd been directed to, where the White Queen was being very mean to all of them. And they were fighting back, which was fair, even if he didn't really like that it had to happen. He never did. Even when the Hunters first attacked them, way back when he was still in his first year at Amityville, he felt wrong fighting them. The longer the conflict went on, the more justified he felt in that. There were friends on that island that he loved and made important promises to, just like his friends in Halloween. They were no less important to him just because they were human. And they were really nice, but caught up in something that wasn't really nice in any way. That wasn't their fault.
He just didn't think violence was a very good answer.
With that in mind, KEYS was not even a little bit ashamed that his pet was doing more damage than he was at the moment. In fact, it had done more damage than he had managed to do during this entire fight (as far as he knew), because he was not doing a very good job paying attention to numbers, and continued to miss how much his deep and thoughtful introspection and reflection was actually literally killing the White Queen.
Had he realized that, he might have stopped, because that would just be cruel and unusual. But he didn't, so he just kept reflecting. That was more his job than fighting ever was, anyway. He had knights and rooks and pawns to do all of that for him.
Where was Erebus, anyway? He hadn't seen him at this fight.
(That was, of course, because he had somehow managed to find himself on the opposing side, but again, he was not observant in the slightest, and failed to notice that he was sided with red while his brother was sided with white.)
He hugged his arms over his chest as he watched everyone do their very best against the Queen. Could he say he was doing his best too? Well, he could say it, but could he mean it? There was a sinking feeling in his stomach that he couldn't, and he wished it would go away. He wanted to believe that he was doing a good thing. He wanted to help, and be a really good dog, so he could make everyone proud!
If he had to return to Amity a failure...would they even still love him?

Of course they would. Yeah, they had to. That was what they said, after all. Wasn't it?
The memories were really fuzzy in KEYS' mind. They were all clouded by the 'vacation' he'd spent on the island, six months of not hearing the voices of anyone back in Halloween. He had met others from Halloween while he was there, but Amrita came home with him, and the other one was gone.
Aleria. That was their name, right? Why was it so hard to remember? He felt terrible for his lack of certainty with this. He had been right there when they were weaponized. He had watched them as they changed from a student to something very, very strong, that could protect their hunter at all costs.
He wondered what they were doing now. Something good, he hoped. They seemed so nice.
He wondered what it was like to be that strong. He could hardly defend himself here, let alone someone else. Of course, he believed he was a lot stronger than this outside of the game, but it still didn't feel very good to have to watch on as other people got hurt. That wasn't how it was supposed to be. He was supposed to protect them. Protection was his job too, because he'd made a really important promise. Maybe it wasn't the job he would be remembered for - everyone seemed to remember him for keys, which he couldn't complain about - but it was a job he was going to do. It was a job that meant something to him, because it felt good to be sure that everyone he cared about was as safe and happy as they could be.
A worry bubbled up within him, and he hugged himself a little tighter. He couldn't see Remi or Erebus right now, but pulling out his Pocket Card would be super dangerous, he thought. This was a very unfortunate dilemma.
He glanced around him, in hopes of finding someone who might be able to cover him momentarily, just long enough to send them a message to ask if they were all right. Everyone was busy doing what they needed to do, and he understood, but he still wished he'd been able to check up on them.
He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, eyes fixed on his March Hare, who was still very diligently engaged in combat with the White Queen. If he couldn't make sure Remi and Erebus were safe, he could make sure the little bunny was, right?
Not that the bunny even needed his help. It seemed to do just fine on its own, and was quite impressively fast, really. It leapt past the White Queen's attacks and wove through the legs of the other attackers, deftly ducking beneath their feet to avoid getting stepped on. KEYS was really proud of the little bunny, the more he watched.
