The Bright Egg blue went straight into the group of boys. He nudged gently at the ones who stood their ground at his approach, as if inspecting them, though he didn't look them in the eye. Each one was found to be lacking something and once he had inspected just half of the boys he let out an annoyed snort, then proceeded to shove and push his way out of the group. His eyes whirled a darker red and he trudged towards the girls, his footing somewhat unsure in the wet sands.

Wen watched the hatching nudge some of the candidates around him, searching before turning and heading towards the girl, not even half done. What an impatient little thing. He looked at the eggs and then at the sky, wondering how much longer they were going to be out in the wet.

Several more people impressed, and Hesper found her encouraging smile was beginning to falter. She was happy for all of the new pairs, at least she told herself that she was. But there was a sense of longing and a tinge of jealousy each time a newly bonded pair left the sands. Taking a deep breath, she straightened her shoulders, raised her head, and firmly fixed the smile back onto her face. If it didn't happen this time, there was always next time. There would be other chances.

Jemi watched the blue head over, she had bet brown on you, you little snot. She shook her head and accepted that it wasn't the hatchlings fault. He was blue, always been blue. The candidates were slowly forming pair bounds and leaving and she was still out here. But she had a partner, something that they lacked because she had Wen. And would have him if they didn't choose her.

This was WRONG! Ocean green let out a distressed howl, her eyes whirling red. Hers was here, but where? WHERE? She was becoming agitated, tail lashing. Looking for... but they just. Weren't. There. Was the little green looking in the wrong place? She spun around to go look somewhere else, but there was someone in the way! Someone was stopping her from getting to where she needed to go!

It wasn't Dianno's fault that he just happened to be standing in the Ocean's desired path. It might have been a little bit his fault that he didn't get out of the way fast enough. Ocean, distressed and frustrated, let out another howl and raised up on her hind feet, wings flaring behind her. Front claws raked down Dianno's chest, knocking the boy down. Ocean stood on the boy, front claws digging into tender flesh while her back claws dug into the sand. She stared at him, eyes whirling angrily, and let out a hot, huffing breath. Where was HERS?

Dianno

Dianno had been nursing his bruised calf and only half paying attention to the movements of the hatchlings around him. In fact, the ocean green had been completely forgotten (even a lad who doesn't want to Impress apparently only has eyes for the male dragons). Her howl of anguish brought him back to reality though real quick. He turned to face her just as she lunged for his chest.

He fell heavily, his robes flying open, exposing the clothing underneath as her sharp little claws tore the thin fabric. He gasped as she stood on his ribcage, then growled right back, instinct kicking in as his hands shot up to shove against the bulk of his attacker in an attempt to shove her off.

Up in the Stands, a middle aged former trader spasmed violently as she saw her son mauled by the angry green.

Bacha

She winced as a green mauled a candidate. At least it hadn't been her brother. He'd already been on the wrong end of a hatchling today. It didn't seem as though this dragon was going to let him off easy either.

The Bright Egg paused before the large group of girls. So many! Where? Where?! He let out an irritated snort and charged headlong into the group. Jemi, Bacha, and a few other girls were bumped into as the blue charged clumsily through the crowd. He was hunched down, moving with a certain determination despite the awkwardness of his movements. His gaze darted about as he used his snout to shove the others out of his way. Then he paused, stiffened, raise his head, and scampered straight over to stand before Hesper.

Mine! Mine, don't be sad! I've found you. I knew I would. Don't be worried, your Adeth is here. You aren't alone now.

The hatchling didn't paused to let her process his words and leaned into her, nuzzling his face against her affectionately. He'd hardly made contact, however, when he suddenly pulled back. The need to find His finally gone, he had one single complaint.

Mine, I'm very hungry.

Jemi grunted as the blue charged on by, shafting thing had a powerful tail. She would bruise later tonight. Where.. ooh. That one. Jemi looked over Hesper and nodded, wishing the girl a silent congratulations before looking out at the Ocean green. Poor kid.

It happened so suddenly, one moment Hesper was standing shivering on the sands and the next moment she was suddenly embraced by warmth and love and a sense of belonging that she had never felt before. She didn't even really register the words that had been spoken inside her head, or the fact that there was a hard, scaly head pressing gently against. She raised a stunned hand and stroked Adeth's head, wonderingly gazing into the rainbow burst of impression that played on his face.

Mine! Mine, don't be sad! I've found you. I knew I would. Don't be worried, your Adeth is here. You aren't alone now.

No, She wasn't alone now, was she? She would never be alone again. That was the only thing that seemed to really get through to her.

"Adeth." Hesper whispered, unable to say anything else.

Mine, I'm very hungry.

"What?"

Hungry. I would like to eat. Adeth's tone was patient. He could read the confused happiness that filled Hesper's mind. Feed me, please.

Hesper felt a stupid grin splitting her face. "Oh, of course. Yes. Lets eat."

Bacha

Almost before she could blink the blue hatchling came back through the crowd of girls. She felt it bounce off her hip as the dragon pushed his way through. Bacha staggered back, but managed to keep her feet in the wet sands. She rubbed her hip gingerly. It'd be sore tomorrow.

Things had barely settled after the last blue was led away. The sand there the Shooting Star egg had once laid heaved. It grew bigger and cracks formed in the wet sands. Had a tunnel snake gotten into the hatching grounds?!

Cai

Becka seemed to have things underhand, at least she was being smart and counseling the girl to see a Journeyman once her dragon was fed. He felt no need to leave Genith's side and step in. Though the other girl's casual comment about knowing some healing because her mother was a healer irked him. They spent turns studying and working hard for their knots. It was demeaning to their craft to have people just 'claiming' to be healers because they know numbweed makes you numb.

Genith's eyes flashed as he picked up on Cai's irritation. He eyed Naressa and her blue, so much larger than he was, and fixed an immediate impression of Dislike and Keep Away in his mind. He may forget later, but if His didn't like them (even for a moment) then he would not like them either. In fact, it would really just be better that they were not around them at all. Once he was finished eating (he was terribly hungry still) he would do something about it. Right now Cai wanted him to eat, and so he would eat.

Demanthra

Demanthra quietly clapped as she saw another one of the blues impress to one of the other girls. Deep down, she realized that there was not many chances left to impress. There were still only two dragon eggs left and not many dragons on the sands. She felt a sadness in the pit of her stomach, maybe she was not ready for one of these dragons yet. She refused to let that thought show on her face, so she kept a smile on her face. She needed to be happy for those who bonded, it was what was right. She saw the ground shake where the Shooting Star hatchling had been and she gasped..hoping it wasn't another dragon that had been buried.

Astriana

Astriana also was starting to worry that the odds were not in her favor to impress, but she also hid that worry in the pit of her stomach. She remained perfectly calm, watching another blue impress, trying to remind herself that she still had a chance, even if she had to wait for the next hatching. She took a deep breath and watched the ground shake, what in the world was happening now? So help her..if it was another one of the dragons...

Wen moved slowly towards Dianno and the Ocean green. This was a small mauling, this was something that could turn very serious. He paused, shifting slightly as something moved where it shouldn't have. He moved on his toes, watching the earth heave upwards.

This... could be bad.
