Dakota was about to say something to all the hunters about perhaps it was best to summon weapons when he felt the drop.
An immediate face of horror was buried under the sand...
Then replaced when he resurfaced.

Everything was descending into chaos, and anything seemed like a good enough plan. But with the bugs moving around so much, the sand shifted back into the hole before he could expose them, he'd have to try again.

Exasperated, Shiloh may have uttered a string of expletives before attempting to dig again.
He managed to make a hole, albeit tiny, but it was enough for Pandora to at least catch sight of some of the bugs to torch.

Pandora leaned as far out as she could and fired into the mass of exposed worms that writhed through the sand. Bullets weren't exactly the ideal weapon in a war against tiny bugs, but damn it, she was trying.

And Lucky was just as pleasant and cooperative. His hand slid around hers. The second cradled her head in a strange plaintive gesture of happiness.
- And he didn't let go even as the insects squirmed around Mimsy. He didn't let go as they began to steadfastly crawl up her, as he kept on holding her firmly, resolutely, both hands with unnatural force cradling her face, locking her in place as the insects moved from Mimsy's side to the arms then up her neck, then over her mouth.
"We can always be together," Lucky held on, watching with a smile as the insects slid in, all of them, into her half-pried open mouth. Mimsy's body at this point was not her own- she might have convulsed horribly, terribly, once, twice, her hand might have twitched, her arm might have fought, and then it was over and she was just as pleasant. They slowly turned towards the America-Otto-Pandora group and steadily, methodically, walked towards them, weapons summoned. The insects around the defending trio grew excited, the sand foaming and frothing.
"I would like that very much," Stormy kept on repeating, over and over. Her hand shot out and grasped Abbi's jaw, pushing the other down into the sand with unnatural force as more swarms of thin black, hundreds of writhing creatures that emerged from the sand began to cluster around Abbi.
Melvin already had a hold on Rin even as Dakota moved over, intent on apprehending Lance as Ian moved towards Shiloh and the remaining group.

"Oh sweet Jesus..." Otto yelped as a horrible tapeworm-like bug from Hell was after him, deflected by his weapon. "C'mon Chicy! Hurry yer a** up!" He growled at America, not entirely certain about letting her wrap chains around his boomerang. A little bit awkward, yanno?

"For the love of--Abbi!" s**t God damn it ******** could see the false Ian lurching towards the group who had lead the assault, but he had to take care of this first.
Unfortunately, the summoning took more out of him than he thought--it was slow going getting to the girls' position.

Of all places, the Sahara. the things that happened here and from what Leon could assume, was happening all over again. "just why the hell did he have to drop us here, of all places?" Did Caelius have a death wish for us?
The mental answer was obvious. Yeah. duh. leon was not ready to go that peacefully. Nidhogg was out, the chainsaw letting out a rumble as he slashed into the sand, pale being particles kicking up into the air from the mechanical weapon.

Otto watched as they all ebgan to fight, Leon nearby doing his fireman thing... hm... fire.... Actually? ******** this! If runes made these bugs go nuts? Then maybe a runic weapon would be the key to getting them killed. But all Otto had was a runic torch. That didn't do much.. . . ...good... Otto looked at the torch, then back at Dakota. Otto threw the runic torch at Dakota and set him on fire.When in doubt, kill it with fire.
