Hesitating at the bottom of the stairs, Elijah drew in a breath and shook his head before he went into the kitchen to begin getting rid of anything that would spoil over several weeks. He kept his hands busy, shooing Tatsu out of the room when he came in to try and help. He just couldn't stay still for too long, his mind reeling with too many thoughts. His caring towards the other was all real, almost too real and that was what the angel slowly came to realize as he started tossing things into the trash from the open fridge. This had been the longest any one being had been in his care, and this would be the first and last he would have like that. He was going to Hell after all...Sure, he could have gone at any given time with Tatsu if he had wanted to get away, yet Devin offered to help him and the angel had jumped at the opportunity.
The thought almost made him laugh, hands moving to rest on the edge of the sink. He had acted like a child, throwing a fit and pushing away someone who had become a friend when Devin had gotten too close. Elijah found himself sighing, glancing up when he felt Tatsu poking his head around the corner into the kitchen. "Sorry, I'm...I'm finished. You can finish up," he muttered, turning and fluidly avoiding those reaching arms when the other demon reached for him. "I'll be on the couch."
With that, Elijah made his way slowly down the stairs and flopped down onto the cushioned piece of furniture near the fireplace. He stared at the bare wood floor in front of the smoldering hearth for many moments, trying to figure out what was missing when it clicked. He couldn't help but smile. Tatsu had cleaned up the mess of a bed they had been on the night before.
Turning over, the angel curled up and let his eyes drift close, not taking too long to fall asleep again. Come tomorrow, they would be recovered enough to get the hell out of the house before any other angels arrived. Hopefully they wouldn't have any unwanted visitors between now and when they left. Of course, even as the being slept, he knew leaving would be a close call. To not have anyone come the next night after Cain didn't return would be unexpected, but a relief. Something was telling the angel they would have to get out sooner rather than later.
For the longest time, Elijah slept, not moving or making a sound. Several hours passed before he turned onto his side, facing the fire as a dream started to form. He was younger, sitting on the floor within his mother's home, playing with Tatsu, throwing a ball around in the house despite what the woman had said countless times. She couldn't help but smile and just let the two play, so thankful to have the demon near to keep her son company when so many others would push him away.
That was, until there was a knock at the door, and Elijah didn't bother getting up, too consumed with his bit of fun to even notice the sound nor his mother's absents until it was several minutes and she had not returned. Those pale eyes looked up, searching when he caught the scent. It made his throat burn and his stomach churn with a hunger he had come to find stir only around certain things.
His dream seemed to fast forward now, and Elijah was standing in the front hall, looking down at the body laying in the pool of blood. His shoulder was torn to pieces, but he had to look, he had to see who it was. He knew, in the back of his mind, who it was, but something wasn't right about it all. Kneeling in the cooling blood, a shaking hand reached out, pulling back the hair that had been thrown across the body's face...."Devin!"
Elijah sat up where he had fallen asleep on the couch, his body drenched with sweat, his heart thundering away in his ears. No, it was a dream! It had to have been a dream! The being scrambled to get off the couch and into the adjacent bedroom; his legs still asleep and sending him sprawling out onto the stone floors. The angel was back up and moving into the room before his body registered that it was down, skidding to a halt within touching distance of the demon where he lay asleep.
A pale, shaking hand reached out, hovering just over the demon's mouth and nose. The angel didn't even know he was holding his breath, releasing it rather suddenly when Devin's warm breath washed against his hand. Shaking knees finally buckled, sending Elijah down onto the floor next to the sleeping form as he drew in a shuddering breath. Why...why did it have to be like that? The dream had been too vivid, causing far too much trouble than was needed. Was it because of the conversation they had earlier before passing out? If it was just that, then why did the dream change? Why had it been Devin instead..? Arms resting lightly on the edge of the bed, the angel stayed on his knees for the time being, leaning against folded arms as he tried to calm down.

Devin;s sleep had been far from heavy; his dreams these days weren't very comforting sometimes and and he often wound up waking up feeling worse then when he'd slept, still he needed to study his body off, let it rest and prepare for the ride home, as much as he couldn't wait to see his mother again he didn't want to face the jeers of other demons when they saw he was wingless.
He was jolted out of his sleep a bit by faint sounds near him catching the others scent in the air he faintly realized it was probably just Elijah and would have easily gone back to his uneasy slumber if the other hadn't slumped against the bed like that "..." Opening his eyes sleepily all he could see was the others head on the bed and buried in his arms.
"Bad dream?" He murmured softly sounding about as tired as he felt as he yawned a bit and reached out petting the others head a bit "Wanna talk about it?"

Face buried in his arms, the angel did not notice when the demon woke, shoulders shaking slightly as he struggled to calm his racing heart and labored breathing. Those pale eyes of his were closed, squeezed tight, in an attempt to prevent those clear drops of water to not fall from them. His mind was reeling, trying to still understand why the memory had changed when he heard a new sound, jumping when his hair was touched.
Sitting up straight with a start, Elijah opened his eyes wide, those pale pools shinning before the first trail of a tear slid out of them, betraying the angel. He had fought so hard to not let them fall, and the moment he looked to see that Devin was not only alive, but awake and well enough to speak. Such a startled look played through those shining jewels before the angel reached up and rubbed at his face, slowly shaking his head.
Slowly getting to his feet, the being stayed low enough to not have that hand leave his head, body bending to slip onto the bed next to the demon to wrap shaking arms around the body of warmth. His hands clung to the fabric against Devin's back, head turning to bury in against his chest when he was close enough. "Just don't disappear from my side until Cain is dead...."

"..." Devin was only half surprised when the angel climbed into the bed with him and clung to him as if the whole world would tilt and turn upside down if he let go, there were a lot of things that still confused him about Elijah, but he understood the other was scared of losing him; perhaps he had been wrong in thinking the other didn't care or have an attachment to him, this certainly proved Elijah didn't want him to leave or die at least
Sifting a bit Devin pulled the blankets over them both Devins natural body heat and the warmth of the blanket quickly began to seep into Elijah, making him toasty warm from the inside out "Hey...i;'m not going to die" He said softly before he pressed one of the others hands to his chest, his heart beat thumping faintly under his fingers "When my heart stops beating then you can worry okay? Now go back to sleep" He murmured draping an arm around the other lazily as he settled back down into the realm of dreams.

It was so silly for the him to have thought that he didn't need anyone to trust or anyone at his side. The dream had proven that. Elijah could say all he wanted that he did not trust the demon, but for him to have gotten so shaken over even a dream had made him understand at least a little bit about how he really felt.
The angel moved closer when the covers were tugged over both of them, legs intertwining with Devin's pull they bodies flush without much thought. The warmth spread through his body, relaxing every muscle within him little by little. Soon, the arm that had been clinging so harshly to the other relaxed; simply draped around the other now; fingers curling gently into the fabric against Devin's chest. Elijah nodded just a bit, eyes fluttering closed when told to go back to sleep. At least now, if anyone were to come looking, they would both be there at each other's backs. It put the angel's many thoughts to rest as sleep encircled his warm body once more.

For once Devin slept peacefully, not hindered by unpleasant dreams or thoughts of Cain, for once he dreamed of home and his mother, he felt a little nervous introducing his mother to Elijah but he knew his mother was more accepting then most, he was sure things would work out.
By the time Tastu came to get them the next morning, the two of them were still fast asleep, at some point Devin had rolled onto his back and was snoring quietly, Elijah had been pulled on top of him, the others face buried in his chest, his fingers still clinging into the thin material of his t-shirt, the devil had one arm draped around the other's waist lazily as he slept on.
For once all was peaceful.

Hours after he had heard movement from downstairs, Tatsu made his way down to wake the two. He hadn't felt any other presents near the house throughout the dark hours of the night, something he was more than thankful for. They would need to be going soon, least they all receive another visit from the feathered fiends that would not leave them be. The demon had hesitated outside the bedroom door, leaning against the frame while the two continued to sleep. He could see his master curled around the small bit of warmth underneath the blankets that had survived the night; a small smile turning up the corners of his mouth before he could stop it. If he could, he would have just let them both sleep until they woke, but heaved a great sigh and walked into the room to gently shake the angel's shoulder.
Elijah had stayed as close to the other as possible throughout the night, turning with Devin as he shifted positions as if he were awake and knew he needed to turn. His fingers kept their hold on the fabric covering Devin's shirt and the being slept peacefully; no nightmare plaguing his sleep. It wasn't until he felt a gentle shaking on his shoulder that the male began to wake, drawing in a breath before the right hand curled in against Devin's shirt released its hold to rub at his eyes. "Five more minutes..." he mumbled, nuzzling the demon's chest after.
Tatsu couldn't help but smile then, the light reaching those crimson orbs before they closed. "Master, Devin, you both must wake. It is about time for us to depart."

Devin blinked a bit as he was shaken awake, opening his eyes a bit looked to Tastu with a sleepy expression "Hey cutie" He purred to the other demon playfully with a sigh before he sighed; as comfy as he was the other did have a point; they needed to make themselves scarce before more angels turned up "Mmmm kay" Devin huffed sitting up a bit he shifted Elijah so he in his lap his face buried in his shoulder "I'm up...might need to give him a little more convincing" He said with a chuckle

Elijah had heard the noise coming from the two and shifted a bit when Devin sat up, arms moving to tighten their hold around the warmth that seemed to be moving so much. "Mmmmmnn....Stop moving," he mumbled, eyes slowly blinking open when he felt a hand run against his cheek and then through his hair. He saw those crimson eyes staring at him and reached a warm hand out to ruffle Tatsu's hair lightly before he too, slowly sat up.
The demon smiled when Elijah finally sat up, letting his hand fall away from the angel's head slowly before he stood again. "Everything is almost ready. All we are missing now, is you, Young Master." He could see the being draw in a breath and backed away quickly with a grin. Well, at least he was awake now.
The angel drew in a breath and sat up a bit more, hand lifting to push at the retreating hand from his body. "I told you to stop with that," he grumbled, sighing a bit before he stretched. That was, until he realized that he was not only in the same bed as Devin, but practically in his lap. "What district did you say your Mother resided in, Devin?"

Devin smiled a little "would but we need to move" He said softly sharing an amused expression with Tatsu; the other in such a sleep state really was pretty adorable, and even his faint protests made the lesser demon laugh a little in amusement. When the other finally seemed to wake up a little and let go of him, he had no complaints when the other remained seated on his lap and rested his arms loosely over the others small shoulders his head on top of Elijah;s with a smile. "4th district in the...uhm...entertainment quarters" He admitted sheepishly.

The angel nodded a bit before he slowly slid off the bed, stretching again before both hands moved to run through his own hair. "4th district huh? Well, we better get a move on then. Not sure where we go once we get to the district. So please don't let us get lost," Elijah stated, smiling over his shoulder before he sauntered out of the room to get what few things he would be taking with him on their journey.
Tatsu stepped back when the angel got up, leaning against the wall while the two spoke. "I'll be able to get us to the 4th, but where in the district will be up to you. Go ahead and get yourself together while I fit and make a few final adjustments. Shouldn't take too long," he stated, pushing off the wall before he headed out into the living room to the single door near the fireplace Devin and the angels had so often come in and out through.

Devin slipped off the bed stretching a bit and feeling refreshed; he hadn't slept that well in a long time, it was refreshing and he felt alert and ready for the day ahead. At the others comment about him getting them lost he "Hey my sense of direction isn't THAT bad, know where grew up you know" he said with a smile as he raked a hand through his hear before he padded to the bathroom to wash and change his clothing and such.

Humming softly to himself, the angel sauntered up the two flights of stairs and managed to pull out a few pieces of clothing, dropping to his knees to dig through the bottom of his wardrobe moments later for a small sac to put everything in. Finding the small bag, Elijah began putting the clothing inside before he headed into the small bathroom connected to the master bedroom. Running water echoed through the silence upstairs while the angel got ready for the day; packing a few more items inside the bag before he headed back down the stairs. The humming had never stopped, the bag he had packed wrapped around his waist and turned around to his back, a small blade being twirled around in his fingers as he headed down the second flight of stairs to join Tatsu. "Just about ready to go, Tatsu, Devin?"

Devin had nothing to to take with him; not even his sword which had long since been lost when the angels took it from him, he supposed he should be thankful to return to his mother, alive and with allies rather then dead, and for her to never see him again "Yeah, I'm ready" He promised with a smile.

Nodding just a bit, the angel wandered over and leaned against the wall next to the door, head tipping to the side before he reached up and knocked on the old wood lightly, causing Tatsu to reach out and touch the male's hand.
Tatsu sighed and released the angel's hand before he reached out and opened the door, his hand warming slightly before the old wood door swung open, darkness on the other side. "It's to one of the inns on the outskirts of the district. Second floor I believe," the demon replied, reaching out to pluck the blade from Elijah's hand.
The angel made a small sound when the dagger was removed from his playful hands, lower lip sticking out slightly before he jumped to try and get the blade, which was quickly moved out of reach. "Hey! Gimmie that back, Tatsu." He saw the smile before he knew the words that would be spoken, huffing afterwards.
"You won't be using blades, Elijah."
