There was someone at Mark's computer.
Wash. Wash, this is important.
He peered at the hunter warily. He'd seen him before.
He's making a portal, Wash, do you remember?
He did remember. Except - Mark was making the portal. And that wasn't Mark.
Mark is dead, Wash. I need you - they need you - to help.
He staggered into place, joining the line of others struggling to defend the lone hunter from the horrors out in the sands. His shield was a dirty mess - sand crusting over other things. The difference in texture was strangely fascinating. So much easier, to focus on the details.

Sherry looked up at the new voice. Nevada, right? "Ok, right," Sherry nodded, letting the pressure up just long enough to grab Nevada's coat and place it on the wound. She tried not to watch as the red seeped into it. I'll have to help her with replacing it, she thought. "You, are?" She glanced at Nevada and saw the girl do something strange, and she was aware of flowers appearing. Sherry swallowed and tensed, remembering the red flowers from the room of vines, but eased again as Nevada took up a defensive position. She turned her attentions back to keeping Jake's wound as closed as she could. The coat seemed to help. HP: 50 Defended for: 1 (<3 Nevada) Still watching Jake.

Dakota was going to retort at Mimsy when she went poking around at the ruins. Girl wanted to explore well...It was better than facing off against horseman in the least.
At least till the rumbling...the shift in sands. ********, he knew s**t was going down. He whipped his head around and like slow motion he watched as whatever the creature was took Mimsy in its mouth. Chewing on her.
"MIMSY!" He screamed as he shifted in the sand...When she was spat back out, hitting the ground with a solid thud, he stumbled in the sand to her and picked her up. ********. ******** blood, she didn't have a pulse. "Mimsy you stupid..." No noise...not even a peep. Not even an ice glare.
And he shut down.
Laying her down gently, he turned to the horseman instead. He went after the first he saw.
It was the death pony he saw first. The heir as he walked over to her, Chama flipped out.
"I think Death came a little too soon to the field don't you think Aisa."

Ami only shook her head at Tori. She wasn't ready for this, she couldn't do this. She mouthed the word "Go" at the other life hunter, clinging only tighter to the pillar, trying to bury her face in her hands. The sounds of war clanged in her head, weapons meeting weapons. She saw the blood in her mind, her months of torture returning to her. The red screamed in her head, baiting her, calling her.
Time seemed to snap with Shikoba's attack on the computers. Before anyone could sew a single seam shut, Mimsy was dead with Stormy following quickly after. Ami's eyes were wide mirrors, the image of the broken, crumpled mist trainee hanging in them.
From pure instinct, she moved away from the pillar, lest she suffer the same fate as Mimsy. Then, strangely mechanically, Ami crawled through the sand, fighting back the tears that threatened from the storm and her own emotions.
She took Stormy's mangled little hand in her own, the reddish tint coloring her own pale hand in Stormy's blood. Ami couldn't think up words to say, instead using her free hand to close Stormy's eyes. She had been so little! So very little and fragile.
Tuck didn't even register for Ami. The big man wasn't there, nothing was there. She hardened her heart, summoning Junpei in the wreckage that Stormy had left. For a while, she just sat there, staring at the spot where Stormy had been. She hadn't even gotten a chance to say goodbye.
< Ams ... >
It doesn't matter.
Unfortunately, Ami was never a being to act on emotions. She couldn't scream in rage, attack the horsemen; none of her movements were fueled by that range of feeling. It really didn't matter. Stormy was just another trainee. She was just another one lost like the countless number that died every day. Instead, she logically deduced her own choice. She didn't want any more fighting. She wanted to go home. No more death.
She stood over Deryk, daring someone to come attack the twosome. "Get us home," she ordered, icy vapidness taking over as Mark fell to another horseman. "Now, trainee." The deaths didn't matter. She just wanted them to stop.

Again the creature roared, this time in more audible pain than before as more of its fog erupted from the wounds. It staggered back and raised its longer arm, claws ready to rend, when it spotted a group of them. That alone wasn't enough to trigger the attack more than the scent of blood, and lots of it.
With a wailing sort of howl the creature that was once Stormy lurched forward towards the trainees, ignoring Ofelia in lieu of the red color that matched its inner light.

"Oh, did I strike something else with you?" Aisa didn't recognize Candace, noting that she had an odd reaction to her last words. or was it some sort of affection for the hunter on the laptop.. Human relationships were so woefully primitive, Aisa never bothered to keep track.
As she leaped back, Dakota's words echoed dimly throughout her hearing.
Eris had remarked on this one, once .. Perhaps, one of the only hunters Aisa briefly kept in mind.
"Your concept of time is flawed-- Death always strikes.. For example, that Mark figure?"
A little payback, for the times the hunters escaped .. Perhaps, this would give them a little more permanence.

Nevada smiled sadly at Sherry, watching carefully around her. She didn't care about the coat, but more that her grumpy little friend made it out alive. Stormy hadn't but...
And then there was Stormy. The mist huntress held her breath as the creature came at her, her words stuttering a little.
"S..Stay back Stormy. I really really don't want to hurt you...." Really she didn't want to hurt you Stormy!
The shots fired were meant to be a warning but as they pierced the insanity Stormy, Nevada hissed and aimed her gun away.
/What are you doing Pidge! We got the b***h on the high!/
"I'm not going to kill her." her eyes scanned back over to Sherry and Jake. "just keep her away from these two."

Dakota saw Candace amongist the attackers against Aisa and had a breath of hesitation. That was one of his ladies. His. One he was going to make DAMN sure would make it home.
Like you did Mimsy? A voice barely whispered at him. Then he was back to being shut down and slashing Chama out at Aisa again.
"it's a shame that Mark's dead but one less idiot around. Especially one that gets other hunters turned into women with huge boobs and...you know what nevermind. I got bad memories with that dude." Dakota nodded his head to Stormy...To Mimsy and Jake and Jordan. "But you see Death, you came knocking on the door's of my friends...and their time was too soon. So I think its only fair I came knocking yours don't you think?"
He slashed upwards as Chama flared with her runes. Charged. Now would he perform the Barrier and keep hunters safe or exact revenge on the pony of death?

The stray bullet bouncing off his shield attracted his attention, though it was passed in the form of a wry look over his shoulder just before he raised his dagger to breach the defenses around the death hunter. Seems like someone couldn't stand being ignored.
"Something's different about you," he commented casually, hefting his weapon and driving it forward in a quick stab. "Let's see . . . Oh. You did something with your hair, didn't you. Here I was, wanting to scalp you with it inch by inch~"

Al finally crawled out of the hole he had fallen into, furiously looking for a target - any target. Well, not just any target. He had one last attack up his sleeve and Nuru was biting at the bit to make it. To defend his hunter properly. Both of their attention settled on the horsewoman who forced him into that unscheduled flight. Before Al could realize what he was doing enough to stop it, he was already charging towards her, flames erupting from his staff as it was aimed and fired, flames engulfing all that they could - consuming all in their path.
