"Wow... you really do like it here," Long murmured.
She hadn't been anywhere near as talkative at lunch or in the weapons shop and that was saying something. She was already quite the chatterbox.
"Well...." Long looked thoughtfully, "Maybe something with caramel."
He liked the smoky taste that cooked sugar had when well done.

Saria beamed at Long. "Well, this is a place to make people happy, not to hurt people!" she explained to him. "And Ilu is lots more fun to talk to than the man who makes the weapons."
She grabbed Long's hand and tugged him to where the caramel candies were located. "Here they are," she beamed. "They're really yummy, too!" She looked around for Daemon. "Oh, there you are!" she giggled, spotting him near her father. "Come on, Daemon! You have to pick something, too!"

Daemon chuckled a bit, he was even less a sweets person than Long, so he wasn't really sure what to choose, but it looked like Saria would insist. He made his way over the two, eyeing the candy as he passed the shelves.
"What else would you suggest besides the rainbow rocks?" he asked her.

Saria had to think about that. She didn't usually think past her own personal favourites, though she would readily admit that there were many kinds of candy that she liked. In the end, she ended up recommending just about every kind for Daemon and would not let up until he chose something for himself. Then Pengolodh paid for the purchase and they once again left the shop.
"Is there anywhere else that you would like to see?" he asked the two as they left. "Otherwise you're quite welcome to visit us at our home, or if you'd rather return to the palace I can take you back there as well."

Long had to think about it, he wasn't really much for window shopping to be honest. So even though it would be cool, it wouldn't be something he would be really into to get anything out of.
Besides, handmade items weren't new to him, it was something his family always invested it and had become easier to invest in thanks to the internet. Though old clan contacts were still the best.
"Nothing that I can think of...." Long glanced over at Daemon.
Daemon thought about it, "Perhaps it's best if we head back to the palace."
If for no other reason than the fact he and Long didn't have the stamina to wander outside from shop to shop.

Pengolodh smiled at the two of them. "As you wish," he agreed graciously.
"Me, too! Me, too!" Saria exclaimed, darting to her father and grabbing his hand.
Pengolodh shook his head. "No, Saria, you need to go home and get to bed," he told her firmly. "You've already passed your nap time."
Saria pouted, then looked up at her mother. "Mama, do I have to?" she asked in the sweetest tone she could muster.
Alinda smiled and nodded. "Yes, darling. Say goodbye to Long and Daemon, and then it's time to go."
Saria's pout grew deeper, and then she turned back to Long and Daemon. Long was the closer of the two, and she threw her arms around him and squeezed.
"Bye-bye!" she murmured. "Don't wait too long to visit again, 'kay?"

"Well...." Long glanced at Daemon
He had heard stories about the time difference between worlds and he really couldn't make a regular thing of it. He doubt anyone in the family would be happy if he did this too often. Daemon hadn't been happy the first time.
Daemon sighed, "We'll see, can't make any promises on this okay?"
There was a good chance Long wouldn't come again after this.

Saria pouted, but then a thoughtful expression crossed her face. "Well ... then promise you'll come if you can?" she tried again. She let go of Long and ran to hug Daemon instead, then looked up at him, her eyes filled with hope. "Please?"
Pengolodh and Alinda smiled and stood a bit apart from the others, simply watching.

It was really hard to say no to a face like that, and promising to come if they could was a bit more reasonable. Still, Daemon was sighing a bit as he nodded.
"If we can, we'll come," he told her.
He knew he would be able to at least.

Saria hugged him again. "Thank you!" she beamed. Then she ran over to her parents and took her mother's hand. "I'll see you next time, then!" she told the two men, waving.
Alinda smiled and waved as well. "Safe journey," she bid them; and then she turned and headed down another street with Saria.
Pengolodh chuckled softly and motioned for the men to follow him. "Well, I think it's safe to say that you've made a friend for life," he told them with a smile.

Long chuckled at this, "She's a cute kid."
He did feel a bit bad that he wouldn't really be able to visit. Maybe he'll send letters with the grandkids instead. It was clear no one used that door enough.
"She is," Daemon murmured in agreement.

Pengolodh smiled softly. "Our pride and joy," he said proudly. "I'll admit, she's got something to learn about etiquette and propriety, but she's smart and thoughtful of others, and just between us, every bit as beautiful as her mother."
He winked at the two, then laughed quietly.

Daemon chuckled, "It's a pity that the time difference will mean large gaps of time between visits."
And while he intended to visit again, it wasn't something he could do too often. He had the chance to see several more generations of Winters in the future and he intended to be around for that.

"True," Pengolodh mused, "but on the other hand, it does mean that the next time you make it, she'll be quite a bit older, and perhaps a bit less likely to talk your ear off."
He laughed. "Maybe you'll even get your own bit of conversation in."
Still, he knew what Daemon meant. It would be a long wait for those in the Eastland before they got any more visitors.

Long grinned at that, he understood very well that Pengolodh meant by that. Though it was neat being around the little girl, even if she always tended to lead the way.
"Maybe, or maybe she'll catch us up on all we've missed since we last seen her," he joked.
Which was also possible and that would be a very long catch up.
