Koras examined the picture with WAY too much interest. At the mention of finally getting to learn some more about their traveling companion .
Cadaver sighed, taking a bite of his food before speaking. "All right, the story's a bit complicated, so let's start with the basics. You two ever heard of the Plates?" He then proceeded to facepalm when Koras held up one of the plates that had been provided with the food. "Wrong kind of plate, Koras. I mean the Arceus Plates - sixteen stone tablets, each imbued with energy from one of the seventeen Pokemon Types minus Normal. They were originally in the possession of the Legendary Pokemon Arceus. Ringing any bells here?"
Koras thought a moment before brightening, reaching into his pack and offering Cadaver a strange black stone tablet.
Cadaver blinked several times, taking the tablet. "Where the heck did you get the Spooky Plate...?" he trailed off and smirked at the sheepish and somewhat guilty look on Koras's face. "Ah. Stole it from Team Rocket, huh?" Koras just looked even more sheepish and guilty. "As I was saying, I don't know how, but a while back, Team Rocket got ahold of the Plates and started experimenting with them..." Cadaver grimaced. "...Or rather, they started experimenting on humans and Pokemon with them. I don't know the exact procedure, but I do know the end result: enough mutated corpses to make even the most desensitized of people puke their guts out and 16 of what I like to call Elementals - monsters in human skin, so closely attuned to a Pokemon Type that they not only gain Pokemon weaknesses and resistances and the ability to mimic and Pokemon Move of that type, but also get all sorts of other abilities related to that type. Almost all of them were then given a chance to join Team Rocket; then, whether they accepted or not, they were connected to a special Pokeball that guarantees obedience to the one holding it and given a brainwashed Pokemon partner with its powers boosted by a Plate - basically, they were given an offer they literally couldn't refuse, followed by a Pokemon that was loyal to Team Rocket." He then smirked bitterly. "However... Team Rocket didn't understand the Ghostly side of things as well as they'd like to think. They botched brainwashing the Ghost Elemental's partner, a Duskull, instead just turning it psychotic, and they didn't realize that the Ghost Elemental, codenamed Project Immortales, wasn't one of the casualties... he was just very, very good at playing dead. Once their guard was lowered enough, the Ghost Elemental broke out of the facility he was being kept in, freed the Duskull they'd tried and failed to brainwash, and grabbed the Ball they were going to use to control him before leaving." Cadaver then reached into his pocket, taking out a strange black-and-purple ball with a small cartoonish ghost on the button, giving another bitter little smirk, this time accompanied by a humorless chuckle. "This is the special Ghost Pokeball. Carnage is the Duskull they failed to brainwash. I'm sure you can figure out the rest." With that, he paused his little story, waiting for them to put two and two together even as he stashed the Spooky Plate away.

"Not low blood pulse, no blood pulse. There's a reason my name's a synonym for 'corpse'," Cadaver corrected. "As for Koras, I'm getting to that. Anyway, once I managed to ditch them, I occasionally kept tabs on what they were doing, and, well, I may or may not have sabotaged a few of their plans. Eventually, however, I, ah, 'stumbled across' some reports concerning one of the more top-secret projects of theirs - Project Chorus. It turned out that the whole experiment with the plates was just a test run; the plan all along was to combine the Plate-imbuement method with their knowledge of cloning and a bit of Legendary DNA they got ahold of. Basically... they were making a male Meloetta in human form and boosting his power."
Koras blinked, the name "Meloetta" sounding vaguely familiar to him, like a far-off memory of some kind... which was odd, because he was certain that this was the first time he'd ever heard the name.
"Anyway, I never really found the facility where he was being kept, but I did keep intercepting the reports, learning about the abilities Project Chorus was showing as they kept working on him." Cadaver smirked. "It was some pretty impressive stuff - superhuman speed, reflexes, and agility, ability to use any sound-based Pokemon move, plus the ability Soundproof. A few days after I found out about it, though, Project Chorus awakened before he was supposed to, in the middle of one of the treatments to help boost his powers - something involving electrotherapy, I believe, but I'm not going to pretend I understand it." He glanced over at Koras, who was starting to get an expression on his face that indicated this story was getting way too familiar for his taste. "At any rate, Project Chorus woke up several weeks before he was supposed to, panicked from the pain, and blasted the machine working on him with an overpowered Hyper voice. Unfortunately, this had the side effect of boosting the electricity temporarily; basically, he got a lot more human DNA in him than he was supposed to - becoming half human and half Meloetta - and his powers were boosted to an insane degree, at the cost of him nearly getting electrocuted to death, weakening his body until it was frailer than a normal human's, and his vocal chords becoming extra-crispy. He then blasted his way out of the facility, running off and falling off Team Rocket's radar... at least, until a couple of days ago."
Koras was noticeably upset at this point, shaking his head frantically in denial, as if that would change the truth.
Cadaver sighed, giving Koras a sympathetic look. "As much as I'd like to say otherwise, I'm afraid it's true, Koras; you're not some amnesiac mute with a few weird powers. You're a half-human, male clone of Meloetta, created by Team Rocket."
Koras just gripped himself, trembling and shaking his head even more frantically, obviously on the verge of a breakdown at this point.

Koras relaxed slightly as Lilian comforted him, slowly calming down and relaxing as he looked right back into her eyes.
It was at that point that Kitsune thoroughly ruined the moment, happily jumping on top of his trainer's head, trying to show him that he cared to. Unfortunately, since Koras was leaning over and hadn't been expecting the weight of the little Dark-type, this caused the resident human/Pokemon hybrid to end up with his face forcefully pressed against the table, Kitsune blinking as it stood on Koras's head and tried to figure out where his beloved trainer's face went. "Zorua? Zoru zo?" It looked around, then shrugged and laid down, unknowingly pushing Koras's face harder into the table, much to Cadaver's amusement.

Kitsune blinked, not quite understanding why he was getting glared at (as usual). "Zoru?"
Carnage took the hint and tried to keep it as clean as possible, quickly finding that it was actually a lot easier when he didn't use Shadow Claw to scoop up the food... though he did give a quick Shadow Claw to Sweets's butt for laughing at him.
Cadaver just smirked and stuck out his tongue right back... and his tongue was a lot bigger than Lilian's, all the better to use Lick with.
Koras just stayed unconscious, though he did seem to enjoy how cuddly his girlfriend was being.

Surprisingly, Cadaver was already up, floating in the air as he similarly watched the sunrise. From the look of things, not only did he not sleep at all, but he also didn't seem tired in the slightest from said lack of sleep. He nodded silently in greeting to Lilian, remaining quiet for the moment.

"Meh, it's pretty nice. Good view of the place, at any rate." At her little observation, he chuckled, floating back down to earth. "That would be the case, yes," he agreed amicably. "Koras should be willing to eat human food as well, though." With that, he waited for her to lead the way to the food.

Cadaver paused, thinking that over. "Probably," he decided after a moment. "If it's any consolation, it'll probably feel pretty good in the short run... laying the egg will probably be painful, though."
Carnage, who had been floating alongside its Trainer, nearly choked on air at that mental image - an impressive feat, since it technically didn't need to breathe.
