Olan considered nodding, but he was a bit afraid of what Marco would do. Besides, the man already thought of him as a traitor. He didn't want to make things worse.

Marco understood from his silence that this was the man. "Ok Olan. You ready to go back?"

"You won't do anything to him, will you?" Olan signed, visibly shaking. "He didn't really do anything wrong."

Olan didn't make any movement, only sighing. He was almost relieved, though still a bit frightened.

Olan wondered why this man bothered him so much. Why was he so important? His thoughts were cut short when he saw someone approach.
"Why is the prisoner out of his cell?" the man, apparently a new soldier, questioned.

"You needn't concern yourself with that soldier. He is my assistant and obviously under my watch. Meanwhile you've let a prisoner run around on his own. He just went that way."
He pointed to the direction the other prisoner had gone.

The soldier seemed to scoff at the idea that a prisoner could be useful, but said nothing as he hurried in the direction that Marco pointed to. Before leaving, he cast a glance at Olan, his expression unfamiliar yet frightening all the same.
Once he was gone, Olan glared up at Marco. "You said you would leave him alone! That soldier will kill him when he finds him!" He honestly didn't remember how he knew that. He actually never saw anyone get killed in this camp.

"Olan I can't protect everyone in this camp or I'll be the one is getting shot. It's dangerous enough protecting you. Besides he'll just be beaten."

"They didn't have to know," Olan signed, though he couldn't really do any more arguing. As much as he would hate for the other prisoner to get hurt, he would hate it even more if Marco himself got in trouble.

"Believe me they would know Olan. My superiors do check in on me and my subordinates would happily turn me in to advance their own careers." He signed back to him. "Now we should get to bed."

Olan had nothing to say to that, though he wondered why he alone was protected. He sort of wished he didn't walk off. The man could have gotten away then.

He placed an arm around his shoulders and guided him bac to Marco's room.

On the walk back, Olan wondered if this was how things would be for the rest of his life. Was anything going to change?
