If Jude was reading her emotional numbness as apathy, it was most likely because he couldn't see a Halloweener as caring about someone else. She'd never seen someone she knew dissipated before, never had to push through in the middle of a battle even as people she cared about were hurt and worse around her, and for a brief period of time she simply couldn't cope with it.

The Trial of Death was supposed to have prepared her for this sort of thing, right? Because if anything, bringing her back to it was making it worse. The fear that something that bad was coming, and she wasn't able to do anything to stop it.

And then the Hunter kept attacking, and her attempts to block with her spear were completely worthless. She felt her FEAR shield shatter, and he managed to get a large gash on her side. She cried out even as the wound started to bleed, but the pain cleared her grief from her mind. Suddenly she knew what she had to do.

He had dissipated Yin, and she was not going to let him get away with it.

"How could you?!" Her spear, which had been held just moments previously in an ineffectual guard position, swung towards him. At this close range, there was no way he could escape it.

Another gunshot. Another blast of agony. Rikki felt to the ground, clutching his leg as the blood poured from his right thigh onto the stone. The last thing he saw was Danny going into a rage and beginning to scratch and burn the hunter with a force that, even in his current state, Rikki could be surprised by. His wounds pulsated with intense pain. He groaned one final time and then he just let go. He couldn't hang on any longer. He dissipated.

He stared at the girl’s expression and sighed, sounding tired. “Did you really expect a legit answer? Sorry.” He started off speaking sincerely, but then his last word began to drip with sarcasm. The wires of his weapon clacked together as Wilson shifted in place. He turned to worriedly stare at the other trainees. “Hey, are you oka—“

A shadow began to emerge from the cloud as it began to slowly dissipate. His eyes widened and he took a step back, hoping to escape but it was too late. A hand shot out toward his neck and knocked him back. Wilson’s weapon clattered as both the trainee and the weapon fell to the ground. He gritted his teeth together to hold back a groan. Wilson blinked a couple times, each one slower than the last before they simply refused to open and his entire body went limp.

He'd gotten rid of one - finally - but he knew the good fortune wouldn't last. Gale felt the heat of the flames before he saw them, engulfing him as the female creature flung herself towards him in a frenzy.

The fire burned. He felt as though he were back in the Haunted House, back in the inferno that the black haired demon had sent towards him, nearly killing him. This creature here wasn't responsible for the burn scars across his neck and upper chest, but it did not mean that he was going to think of her as any less of an attacker.

It hurt. The pain ricocheted in his mind, reverberating throughout his skull and searing across his skin.

Gale closed his eyes.

A coldness seeped into his fingers were they were still wrapped around the rifle. Gale could feel it cooling, pouring into his veins, the dragon emitting a low hissing noise that was somehow soothing.

The pain was lessening.

Gale opened his eyes.

"I'm not dead yet."

He'd be hanging on to consciousness by a steady but thin thread as she charged at him screaming like a harpy he could only laugh at her. It was a cold sound, a sound that meant he held no value for her. No pity at all. If he had the strength he probably would have done the same to her and the rest of her 'friends'.

Jude felt her strike and he went down.

They were nothing more than beasts. Beasts that attack Humans and prey on them. He was in the right.

Danny realized after a moment or two that her scratches weren't doing anything. The second she scratched one place, it just patched itself up. The hunter was doing this himself.

The fire demonness sat up and punching the smaller boil in the stomach, her fists just sort of flailing and hitting whatever she could.

"Give him back," she began to choke out, "Give him BACK." Her hand went to cover her mouth as the nausea set in. She felt like she as going to vomit. Rikki was dead.

She got up and backed up a few feet. That gun killed him. This hunter did it.

Crap. How could Otto sit back and watch this happen? His division was dropping like flies. No, his pride would not let him try and save himself while everyone else fought so hard.

Otto tried lifting up his weapon again, ready to try and help.

But then it hit him. The strange atmosphere, the overwhelming presence of Fear. Otto felt sick all over again. Every muscle in his body ceased up. Crap.. he couldn't move. He couldn't lift Tenya. That crazy firy demon would kill them all...

It was a good thing that rats were notoriously nearsighted. In his natural form, without the benefit of his glasses, Rafe could see....basically two feet away from the tip of his nose. He had no idea that so many were falling around him; he had no idea of just how deeply the battle was raging.

Mostly he could see the feet of someone who he really wanted to hurt, but he just wasn't fast enough to do it. He was trembling too hard, and was too disoriented, and...well, he had wanted to leave the colony for a reason, and maybe that reason was because he'd always sucked at fighting anyway.

The ghoul stood over Wilson's limp body, wondering. Edel had turned around just in time to see a certain blond hunter fire at Rikki and dissipate him and of course, the fire demon exacting her rage on him for doing that.

On the other side of the room, she could see another hunter with a huge boomerang preparing to move to attack Danny. The ghoul herself was preparing for a counter-attack on him but the FEAR in the room seized her and stopped her from moving.

“Don't you think you might want to take your fallen and leave, before their sleep becomes permanent?” she addressed Gale plainly, still hovering over Wilson's body. “Get out. I've seen you do it before.”

There was nothing she could have done... but it still made her sick to her stomach watching a few of the students around her disappear while the Hunters continued to deal out damage. A few of the one that had been the cause were already taken care of... but the one she'd been attacking before with the gun seemed to be doing well for himself. Unfortunately.

After getting herself turned around again, Imryn tried to fly over and attack the Hunter again... though still weak from the attack before, her aim was rather off and just sailed by him harmlessly instead.

For a moment she just stood over the fallen Hunter, panting. The rage quickly faded, leaving her simply feeling empty. She had expected to feel... maybe satisfied, or triumphant? But not this. She nudged him with her toe, and found she was in some way both upset and relieved to see he was still breathing. At least now he wasn't hurting her or any of the others any more.

She turned to look over the room, trying to figure out what to do next. There were still Hunters attacking other students in the room, who needed help? No one was over by Alex... Roch! He looked to be in bad shape, but none of the Hunters were attacking him either. She recognized the ghoul near him, though, as a friend of his. As one of the Hunters tried to focus on her, Mitzi moved towards him to block any attack, but suddenly he froze. The weird FEAR effects in the room must be playing havoc with the Hunters, too. At least it meant that the wounded ghoul didn't have to directly engage him.

He pushed himself to his feet, swaying a little, but feeling much better than he originally had, thanks to Jinhai. Gale absently smoothed down the front of his vest, still holding the sniper rifle within his grip, and turned slowly to look at the fire creature.

"I can't," he said simply. "I don't have him."

He could hear a familiar voice carrying over towards him - a voice filled with ice, with hatred and anger, hissed low and furious. Gale did not move from where he stood, but his eyes flickered in the creature's direction, his face completely expressionless.

"I will not," he said quietly, his gaze resting on the ice demon, standing over Wilson's fallen body. The scars on his neck twinged, as if remembering the voice of the one who had put them there int he first place.

"Not yet."
