Oralee gave a nod to Madison. "I won't allow you to be killed, not by any of my companions." Oralee had listened avidly as the girl spoke, her understanding of the curse growing. When she slipped back into being a shy, scared girl, Oralee had a rare moment of compassion. She crouched next to the girl again, gently touching her face. "I won't allow any harm to befall you if you come with us. I swear it on the soul of my grandfather." Oralee was giving Madison a choice, though she was glad to hear from Lorne and Alexandre that it was a doable plan to bring her along, since it seemed like the best bet for their plan.

Loa blinked a bit at Tony's statement about her possibly overcoming most anything, but gave a slight nod to his other comments. She had always felt unerringly close to nature- it's why she and her prince had slipped away so often, so she wouldn't grow to feel trapped inside the stone walls. Loa shook her head at the small girl, but was relieved when her Prince moved to explain things this time. Loa's heart melted when she saw Kyle Alexanders smile, somehow sure he didn't smile like that often. She gently scooped the child into her arms, gave a nod to his parents, and then said, "We should be back shortly, and I'll stay within the sight of the castle." And with that, and one large push of her wings, Loa and Kyle Alexander were up in the air. She glided high above them, so that he could see his family, before turning and in gradual circular motions, grew higher and farther apart, so that he could see the entire castle from the sky. Other than her prince, no one had ever dared to fly with her. They all feared or despised her far too much.

Alicea blinked, "...We weren't nobles at first. Maybe she can save her money, and you two can earn your love. It would be sooo romanic." she swayed, her mind containing the images of the two in wedding outfits saying their I do's. Rose laughed. There was no way they would ever get it through Alicea's head that true love didn't always win out, but she was young, and nieve. Hopefully the prince would see that there would be no arguing with her, and leave it at that. Kyle Alexander was berely ready when the ground shrank beneath his tiny feet. At first, there was a twinge of fear as the feeling thaat he would fall overtook him, and a small sqeek escaped his lips, but he realized the strength of the grip...it was like when his parents carried him, gental, yet strong. He felt instantly at ease as they went higher, and could even look down. The trees looked like tiny bushes and the castle had so much to the top that he never noticed before. The art was amazing. The land seemed to stretch on to infinity as his eyes grew wide as he smiled once more at the beauty of the land, the homes, the working places where Benjamin was, the dirt and cobblestone roads, the rolling hills with trees all around, "I's butiful." he said. He only noticed the castle breifly, more interested in the beauty around it.

Madison nodded, ""I'm sorry if I upset you, but when one pulls a weapon on me, they usually mean to use it...and the plan could work...but we need to find a way to help my parents not worry about me...maybe a letter? I'm not sure how to write one without there being lying involved...and before you ask...I can't write a lie either...and if you write a letter for me, I tend to scratch out the lies, and write lie across it...I don't mean to...I just can't help it..." Madison sighed...

Riordan sighed to Alicea, and looked to Rose, "She isn't going to listen to word I say, is she?" He stood up and shrugged, "Let her live in her little fantasy world. So few of us are actually allowed to live as fanciful as we'd like. But, tell me Rose, what is your fanciful dream? What life do you see yourself living as you lie in bed at night?"

Lorne smirked to Madison, "Then you don't lie. You just tell part of the truth. In essence, we are making a trip to Exortensis. You however are not part of the main plan, so the kidnapping has nothing to do with you. You just need to say that some....aquaintances are taking you with them on a trip to Exortensis to visit the Royal Family. We only kidnap the prince if we have to."

Alexandre looked to Oralee, "Well, what do you suggest she do? Perhaps, we write a letter and not let her see it. Or she dictates what she'd like written and we cut out what we think is unneccesary?" He looked to Madison. "And if we have you sign the letter beforehand, there would be no lies for you to scratch out."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2012 10:50 pm

Oralee tilted her head, contemplative. "I can lie just fine. I'll speak with your parents." Oralee turned to glance at Madison. "Where do they live? And what's their image of trustworthy, do you know?" Oralee was going to use her illusion magic- she thought she had enough energy- and tell her parents as much of the truth as possible. Most likely, the parents wouldn't like it. But Oralee had to try. "Though, your letter ideas all have merit." Oralee had to admit.

Loa smiled at the boys delight and then, since she didn't want him to get motion sickness or too accustommed to being in the air, she slowly swooped down, trying to fly in a playful manner to make the boy laugh. She touched down in the exact same spot she'd left, and set Kyle Alexander down in front of her. "So what did you think?"

"It was the best thing in the whole wide world. It was like seeing the whole world all at once!" Kyle Alexander smiled, "It's so cool. You ger to see that all the time." He beamed, seeming to completely forget about everyone around him except for Loa. It was interesting, and Rose couldn't help but think how the country would benifit by seeing things through the small boy's eyes. He had such a hard time talking to people, but he could spend hours talking to animals. Having a person with animal qualities about them opened the usually shy boy so he would talk openly. He was more comfortable talking to Loa than with people around him because of her amazing differences. If people could see the good in bestials like Kyle Alexander, and her family, the world would be better. "I think you have made yourself a new friend." Rose smiled. This was good for Kyle Alexander. The whole family knew it.

"My parents trust whoever talks with me around that I don't say is lying. You have to realize...I'm a lie detector. They wouldn't believe you without me there with you, and there is no way I could be with you without exposing the lie. I suppose the telling them about going but not the kidnapping could work...I suppose." she was trying to think, "At the very least, I will try. Anyone have a paper and pencil?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2012 1:41 pm

Loa smiled brightly, for once a smile untainted by her worries. There was no second-guessing herself over class difference, like when she spoke with the nobles. There was no driving need to mask the full depth of her emotions, like with her prince. There was no guilt weighing in, like when she spoke with the king. There was just the simple joy of making a shy child smile, of being not just respected for what she was, but admired. "Thank you." Loa lifted her gaze to Rose, and ever so slightly, a change came over her. Without a single movement, she became more respectful, more subservant. "I am glad to hear it." she said in a polite tone, bowing slightly. Without realizing it, her gaze automatically sought the prince, calming when she'd found him and he was safe.

Oralee gave a thoughtful nod. "Alright." She glanced at the others. "Then let's try the letter thing." Oralee didn't know why she, who'd cut her heart off from others, had suddenly decided to do everything in the world to keep this child safe- everything except give up on the plan to save the Prince and prevent a war. Becuase letting that happen would kill many innocents, just like her. She turned towards Slaine, well aware that he kept thorough records.

Slaine jumped at the eyes pinned on him, and rushed to get paper and pencil automatically. He brought them over to everyone, blinking. "So... Who do I hand this to?"

Lorne smiled and took the paper, "Let me take care of this." He said, "Dear mother, I'm afraid that I won't be coming home for a few days. I am going on a trip to Exortensis with some....uhh....aquainatances. They are going to....meet, the Prince, and my presence would be most helpful. Do not worry, as they have promised to keep me safe, and I know they will try their best. I will try to be home as soon as possible." Lorne said as he wrote the letter, careful not to state any outright lies, but slightly bending the truth. "Now Madison just needs to sign it." he said holidng up the letter, though his hadnwriting was incredibly sloppy.

Alexandre looked at the letter and frowned, "Unless I knew what you said, I wouldn't be able to read that. And I'm sure the girl has better handwriting than that." He sighed, "Does anyone else here have better handwriting than Lorne?"

Riordan smiled as the boy came down. "Yes, Loa. I think you have a great admirer. You really should smiled like that more often. Its the most honest smiled I've seen you have since we were children." He then looked to Rose, "Miss, you never answered my question? I asked you about your own hopes and dreams?"

((Actually Riordan directly asked "what is your fanciful dream? What life do you see yourself living as you lie in bed at night?" I was trying to make a joke about her powers. If *someone* read my post a little closer crying ))
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2012 2:12 pm

Slaine stepped up, raising his hand slightly as he leaned forward to read the letter. "I've seen worse, but at the same time, I must agree it is not the most spectacular piece of handwriting i've seen." Slaine gently took the paper from him, fetched another one, and and rewrote the letter, his handwriting turning out as smooth and clear as the script of a scribe, despite whatever expectations may have been set due to his profession. "I changed 'a few days' to 'a week or so', since it will take some time, but other than that, this is exactly what he stated." He handed it back to Alexandre for approval, noting that while Oralee was plainly in charge, Alexandre seemed to be the leader of their merry band of misfits.

Loa's polished mask of servititude(sp?) didn't crack, but if you'd been looking closely, you would have seen the panic at Riordan's statement about her smile. She quickly dropped her eyes to the ground, almost as if she had been scolded. "Yes, my Prince." She murmured. Out of the corner of her eye, Loa saw a palace guard waving her over, and with a bow she said to the group. "I will return quickly, I am afraid I must see to the guards." And she turned and strode over to the guard, in a quickly competent way. Not the flowing graceful movements she used when she was alone, or off-duty.

(I am sorry. I knew I forgot something. XP)
Kyle Alexander nodded vahemately when the sprince spoke about the lady Loa's smile, but noticed her look. The young boy knew that look well. He wore it on his face almost everyday. Then she acted completely different with the guards. The smile faces from the young boy's face. He pulled on the prince's sleeve, "What...did I do wrong?" The young boy asked, his former stutter and shy tone as he looked on to the girl with dismay. Rose sighed, "Sorry... Kyle Alexander has a bit of a confidence issue. She had been so immersed by Kyle Alexander that she didn't pay attention to the princes question. It wasn't until the second asking that the problem really developed. Her dreams. That was the problem, though. Dreams were one luxury that she didn't have. One thing she was never able to have. Sure, she could change other's dreams, but it would alter to their own personal lifestyles. Time was ticking, and she couldn't not answer the prince...how would that work. Maybe he ment future goals...but she wasn't sure about that either. Finally, after a few minutes, she thought of a good, true answer, "Well, it's funny you mention dreams. I am really interested in dreams of others, and why people dream what they do. It's so amazing that each person has different dreams. I hope that one day I can find a way to understand the ideas of dreaming. and maybe I can find a way to have my own.

Madison saw the letter, holding it. All it would take was her name. If she was anyone else, then that's all it would be, but her eyes seemed studied on the paper. The curse had taken hold, looking in each and every word. The pen was taken from Slain, as the word wrong range through her head. Mother became mom and dad...more like what she would write. The difference between the script writing, and Madison's curvy, elegant letters. Crossing out came next, and writing. Her hands seemed to shake now and then, as if her true self wanted to come out, yet couldn't. At the end, the letter read.
Dear Mother Mom and dad,
I'm afraid that I won't be coming home Sorry that I left home without permission. I'm also not coming back any time soon. I am going on a trip to Exertensis with some acquaintances. They are going to meet with and talk to the prince about something important that I can not discuss, and my presence, especially with my curse, would be most extremely helpful. Don't worry. They have promised to keep me safe, and I know they will try their best feel like it's a chance for me to develop as a person. I need a chance to become a person who can live in the world despite my curse, and you two know that better than anyone. I will try to be home as soon as possible. Love Always, Madison.

Prince Riordan raised an eyebrow to Rose. "I was speaking metaphorically, Rose. Not your literal dreams. I meant hope and dreams. Future goals." He said with a smile, "But, if interpreting dreams is your true goal for the future, well, that is an interesting goal." He didn't let on his dreams, nor would he. His own dreams for the future meant little. He sighed sadly as Loa walked off, watching her for a few moments before putting on a smile and looking back to Rose.

Lorne frowned, "It wasn't that bad. Eh, I suppose you know what you talk like more than I do. I Never even thought about your dad. I don't think much of dads period. Or moms for that matter."
Lorne sighed, "Or family in general."

Oralee took the final draft of the letter, skimmed over it, and tilted her head. Her parents might think something was wrong if they noticed she had corrected it in places. She took one more piece of paper from a confused Slaine, bent over to place both papers on a nearby table- getting a sharp look from Slaine and an equally sharp stab from her ribs- and quickly rewrote the letter to match exactly what Madison had crossed out and added. Though she could mimic someone's handwriting to a level of exact that the mere eye couldn't tell the difference, Oralee wasn't sure if Madisons curse would consider that deceitful, so she just wrote it in her own legible, but flowing and scrawling handwriting. It looked like something a noble lady would use, but Oralee never dwelled on that bit of irony. Turning, she handed Madison the letter once more. "There, while I can't say it looks easier to read, it looks a touch neater now."

Across the courtyard, Loa glanced over at Prince Riordan from the corner of her eyes. One thing to be said about being his bodyguard- she could look at him all she liked, and people assumed she was just assessing the situation. Returning her gaze to the guard, Loa continued to hear the complaints. Apparently one who was scared of heights had been assigned to the tower night shift, where as another who was claustrophobic had been assigned to patrolling the dungeon during the day. It wasn't simple enough to just switch them around, since they had completely different sleeping schedules and weren't willingn to budge on that.
At some point, when her problem solving skills became apparent, the Captain of the Guards had begun to come to her for aid with these problems. Though it would be simple enough to just tell them to suck it up and follow orders, Loa had long convinced the Captain that satsified guards did better work than ones that were nervous, or tired, or grumpy. So as Loa helped the Captain get honest opinions from his men on where they'd like to be stationed, and then Loa figured out the best way to station the men.
And In exchange, the Captain of the Guard kept her appraised of any possible threats- and more importantly, and Loa had mostly asked this for her Prince- he kept her appraised of the whispers the guards heard from the nobles. Whispers guards weren't supposed to hear.
Turning, Loa began to walk back towards the Prince, but suddenly one of the more belligerent guards stepped up behind her and grabbed her wings, forcfully spreading them open.
"Oh, so you let people touch your wings now, Sweetie?" It was a point of pain that this guard never used her name, instead using fluffy endearments that grated. Much as the painful spreading of her wings did. Not wishing to start a fight that would, again, get her Prince scolded for her existance, Loa simply stated, "Let me go." "Naw, honey, I just wanna touch your soft feathers- and your wings too." It was whispered into her ear, but the revulsion was apparent on her face. "I told you to let me go." Loa tried to prevent memories of threats of her feathers being plucked, or her wings being torn off, from entering her mind, but they did nonetheless.
A white dove, one that followed Loa often, landed on a tree and watched for a moment, before turning and looking straight at Prince Riordan. The bird seemed to be accusing him of allowing this to happen.

((Well. I didn't mean for that to turn into such a long paragraph. I just wanted to write. XP
Also, random drama! Because it was getting to damn quiet around here and I wanna see fighting. ^^))
PostPosted: Fri Jul 20, 2012 9:09 pm

Madison watched Oralee write carefully, seeing the words as they were written. True. Rang through her, and she was finally able to sign without a problem. She looked up curiously at Lorne, "Did you and your family not get along?" she asked before realizing the intrusion. Her face became red instantly, before she mumbled, "Th-that is...I mean, I don't want to seem intrusive...and you don't have to answer if you don't want to..."

Rose took a step, opening her mouth when.
"You stop that, you big bully!" Kyle Alexander down right shouted, kicking the guard in the shin. "OW, you brat!" he growled. "You leave big brother alone." Alicea stomped, "You was being the stupid meanie poopie head. I hope a witch turns you into a frog!" She huffed. Tony sighed, "To treat a lady like that...and you call yourself a noble guard. I know people who scoop dung who act more refined than you." Melody did not talk at first. She walked up to the him, giving the guard a good slap in the face, "And your mother would be disappointed in you for acting this way." Rose smiled for a moment, loving her family before taking a step forward, "You've had your fun, you coward. Now let her go, or you'll have to deal with all of us." The guard, who still had Loa's wings despite being kicked, berely understood the little "Princess". He berely even noticed Tony was there. When Melody came up to smack him, his eyes darted straight for her boobs. When Rose spoke, he was at least finally able to say something, "...Shouldn't you be washing something girly?"
"Shouldn't YOU be protecting the castle?" A voice scoffed behind them, "Seriously, if I was the royal family, I would try to hire a gaurd with at least half a brain. To bother a lady and hold her against her will too...is there no longer honor among you ?" It was hard to tell what he was wearing among the soot from the kiln, and the burn marks on his cloths. He grinned, holding a sword in one hand that he had fashioned himself to show his family, and perhaps a noble or two. "Or maybe you are just so stupid that nobility goes in one ear and out the other." "Benjamin!" Rose smiled.

Riordan barely noticed the dove, and he was about to reprimend th gaurd when the children took it intot heir own hands, then the parents, and then the older brother. Riordan was surprised, but pleasantly so. But then the gaurd make a big mistake. "I don't need to listen to some peice of gutter trash like you!" He growled.
"Unhand Loa. Now." Riordan said as he walked towards them, "I will not ask again."
The gaurd was new, and apparently didn't even know his prince. "And who the Hell do you think you are?"
Riordans eyes burned with rage, with one quick fluid motion, the sword that Benjamin was holding was slipped from his grasp and slashed across the back of the gaurds wrists, who quickly pulled back. "I am Prince Riordan Kynton Tavin, Prince of Exortensis. Next time I give you an order I expect you to follow it. Am I clear?" the gaurd, fearing for his life after insulting the prince, nodded quickly, "And these people who you disrespected, are nobles, and you will treat them as such." Riordan aimed the sword at the gaurds throat, "And never harass my personal guard again. It will be more than a scratch on your wrist next time, Now get out of here." He order and the guard scurried away.
Riordan sighed and he looked to Loa, "Are you okay? I'm sorry that they still haven't learned to give you the respect you deserve." he then turned back to the family, "And I must apologize for his actions and words. His is new. And very foolish." He held the sword out to Benjamin, "Thank you for the sword, but in the palace it would be wise to keep it sheathed. A veteran guard would have already had you in the dungeon. You can't have a weapon drawn in the presence of the royal family."

Loa had her first shock when she saw Kyle Alexander rush towards the guard, yelling and kicking him. She had, easily enough, picked up that the boy was shy, and yet he was defending her? It was sweet. And then suddenly, one by one, the entire Mareno family came to her rescue. As one who had been raised to do the rescuing, and become accustom to having only one person ever stand up for her- the prince, whom she tried to avoid needing the help of, since it looked bad if he had to rescue his bodyguard- Loa was simply shocked. Then the new person arrived, and her hand immediately went to her sword upon seeing his, but she surmised who it was quickly enough, and relaxed.
Then, suddenly, her prince was stepping up. Oh dear. Loa knew that tone of voice well enough to know roughly what was about to happen, but had no way of stopping it. When the guard cursed at her prince, Loa stiffened and was about to lash out at him, but then, from the corner of her eye, she saw the blade leave Benjamin's hands. As soon as she felt the guards hands leave her wings, they pulled back towards her- that one instinctive gesture showing just how truely bothered- and perhaps frightened, though only the boy who knew animals and possibly her prince should be able to figure that out- Loa had been.
When her prince turned to her, Loa nodded, and remembered herself, bowing slightly. "Yes, my prince, but I could have handled it without causing an incident." After her prince addressed the family, Loa turned and bowed to them. "I thank you greatly for your assistance." Loa glanced at Kyle Alexander, and remembering his bravery, reached back towards her wings, plucking one of her loose feathers out, and handing it to the boy, as she knelt to the ground to be level with him. "A token for my rescuer."

Kyle Alexander didn't even think when he kicked the guard. It didn't occur to him that he could be in trouble for it until the prince spoke. He just wanted to see Loa smile again. Once Loa was let go, and her wings were tucked close. The boy knew that look, and how that felt as well. He went closer, a look of worry on his face because of the fear that she showed, one that only he and maybe the price would see. He held out a hand while she spoke. He was shocked to see her giving him a feather...her own feather to him. to HIM. All at once, the little boy;s face went a slight shade of red, and a small small spread...different from before, more honored than elated. It would be something he would treasure always. Loa was the prettiest, sweetest person he ever met, and the young boy had a new found determination to show this to her. "Thank you...thank you so much."
Tony and Melody both nodded. Rose grinned, "Hey, what are friends for, after all?"
Benjamin realized his folly, smaking his hand to his forhead, "Knew I forgot something...maybe I could barrow a sheath. I was so pleased with that sword I made that I managed to forget to bring the sheath. It's back at my work station..." Benjamin sighed.
After giving the letter back, Madison sighed, "So, um...I suppose that means you don't want to talk about Lorne...?"
