That was most certainly an enjoyable experience. One that he may repeat once in a while out of the kindness of his heart, whenever the chance for a moment like that rose up again for someone he cared about. Even if their relationship was distant at best... But then, distant was the best relationship he really had. Experience and tutelage have hand in hand taught him caution with others more then open honesty. Ah, but having finished the song, and before preparing another one, he saw the couple he was playing for break apart. One half heading towards him, and the other quickly take their leave.

"Hm?" He went, finding their departure from one another curious as best, but as Lis came to a stop before him, the expression on her face told a clear enough tale for why. "Sure, no problem." He said, quickly taking a step to the side to secure his violin and bow in its case, before stepping down from the stage next to his sibling. He probably shouldn't have, but considering he was already assaulted on the premises, by a student no less, Salem was fairly sure he could bend the rules how he wanted. Though, not like they would ever stopped him anyways.

"Ya know, it was actually at the orphanage that I learned to play the violin." Though in honesty his interest in the instrument was due to his foster mother, but he only found himself taking up the instrument after he had to take his leave. Perhaps he would share this with Lisanna some time. But for now he would let her take the lead and take him off somewhere, as she seemed to want a private conversation. Something that which the middle of a ball, right next to the band no less, just quite didn't deliver on.

Lisanna was grateful that her brother chose to accompany her and waited patiently as he packed up his violin and stepped down from the stage. This earned him a few glares from the remaining musicians however, and she hoped he wouldn’t get in trouble. ”Okay. This way…” Thinking nothing of it Lis reached forward and took his hand, starting to lead him through the clusters of people on and around the dance floor. At first she had no idea where she could take him so that they could talk without being overheard or interrupted, but after casting her gaze around the room she caught sight of the stairs leading up to the indoor balcony overhead. Perfect. Her grip tightened slightly on Salem’s as she pulled him through the crowd towards the stairs. She was so intent on her destination that for a few seconds his comment didn’t immediately register with her, but when it did she faltered in her steps and slowly turned to face him.

”Orphanage…” She repeated faintly, staring at him as if dazed. ”Oh I see…of course…” The fragile hope she realised she’d been holding, that of finally finding her parents, shattered like the crystal glass she’d dropped earlier. If Salem had been raised in an orphanage that must surely mean their parents were dead…or that he had never known them either. Either possibility was grim. Lisanna closed her eyes and took a moment to compose herself before smiling faintly at her brother and turning away, resuming her goal of leading him towards the stairs. When they reached the bottom she finally let go of his hand and began to ascend with slow steps, having to hold her dress up slightly so that she wouldn’t trip. She didn’t talk on the way up, partly due to being lost in her own thoughts and also because there were a few people stood conversing on the stairs, or descending past them. Though as they reached the top she found that the balcony was blessedly devoid of people. She glanced back at her brother to make sure he was still with her before walking along the balcony a little ways, then stopping and standing at the railing, gazing pensively down at the room below. ”It’s interesting, isn’t it? You can be in a room full of people and still feel profoundly alone.”

Her blue eyes followed the dancers with a distant expression. ”That’s how I felt often, as a child. I wonder if you did too...?” The girl flicked a glance at him. ”I was raised at Trabia garden, and all they told me about my family was that they were gone. Eventually I just accepted it.” Lisanna sighed but after a moment smiled again. ”And then my little brother turns up out of the blue so many years later! I could never have imagined…” She trailed off, turning to face Salem and looking up at his face as if she was studying it closely, committing it to memory. It might be the first and last time she ever would do such a thing. ”Salem…will you tell me what you know of our family?” She asked softly. It was kind of long shot, since she didn’t know whether he actually knew anything about their parents or why things had turned out like this for them. She turned her gaze to the floor, playing with the rose in her hands.

”I understand that you might not feel comfortable speaking about this with me, as we have only just met, so for that I am sorry. But I…I’m going away tomorrow…perhaps for a long time. I’d like to know…” She bit her lip and waited for his reply.

He was surprised seeing nothing but familiar faces in the headmaster's office. With the exception of one, Lloyd was with most of the people he'd gotten to know somewhat well. Before everyone sat Sou-ho, who looked as though he had some very upsetting news to convey. Then came the warning that anyone who did not want to partake in this mission should leave now. As expected no one budged. Lloyd kept a smile on his face determined to meet this new challenge just like he always had. Next was the mission briefing. That enduring smile faded like the morning breeze and by the end of it Lloyd didn't know what to think.

This was a death sentence; there was no other way to slice it. In enemy territory to abduct a sorceress. As SeeD, taking out sorceresses was their primary purpose but this was…insane. Abduct? How were they supposed to manage such a task? No matter how much he turned this over in his mind the result was the same, death. He glanced around the room for a moment and could see everyone wasn’t taking the news well. Ellale and Tae in particular…dammit all how was this fair?! They had just barely survived their examination and now were being cast off into an insured end. Lloyd wasn’t an idiot; he knew that even if they succeeded that this act would case retaliation. They could never have a moment’s rest. This was it a cross-roads. For Lloyd a choice had to be made. He glanced at the strange man who would accompany them and greeted him with a wave then approached Tae and Ellale. He knew they were no doubt still upset, so just as always he’d try and comfort them. After all, they were his friends and Lloyd took that to heart. He ruffled their hair with his hands and leaned down his head between their shoulders. With a false grin he pulled them closer and planted a comforting peck on each of their foreheads. “Don’t worry, if its protection you’re worried about…I gotcha covered!” he said in a cheerful tone.

Did he believe it himself? If it came down to the wire, could he truly protect anyone? With that Lloyd nodded to Sou-ho and departed the room to reflect. The wish of dancing tonight was completely gone, now he just wanted to vent through his work. Anyone who knew Lloyd, understood that when upset he would turn to his part of a mechanic shop and just work. It was a habit he picked up from watching his mother do the same after an argument with his father. He quietly waited for the elevator and the sound of the ball started to get further and further away. Suddenly Lloyd felt an internal pull. The room around him began to grow distorted with light and he shielded his eyes. The sound of the ball had all but disappeared and only the sound of rushing water could be heard. Once again, Lloyd found himself in Leviathan’s domain.

The stone platform sat surrounded by waterfalls that flowed upwards concealing the sky in mist. The legendary serpent burst from the water and reared up before Lloyd. “Leviathan…” Lloyd greeted gazing up at the Guardian Force. “Something troubles you boy…speak.” Leviathan responded, not threateningly but rather to check on the wellbeing of its chosen. “I’m sure you already know…but tomorrow we disembark on a mission that..” Lloyd’s words hung and the gravity of the mission only became that much more apparent to him. “You fear that you and your comrade’s life will be ended, am I correct?” it lowered its large head to Lloyd’s height. Ashamed of himself, Lloyd nodded “T-this isn’t like it was before…I don’t know if we can make it back from this one. It’s Edea..it’s like they want us to die out there!” he shouted, not at the GF but rather in frustration.

With a lash of its tail in the water, Leviathan regained Lloyd’s attention. “If you already believe you will die, then that will be what comes to pass. I chose you for your courage in the face of dire odds; have no fear Lloyd, even in this. Go forth your courage shall see you through, and my strength will protect you always. All you need do is call.” Lloyd pressed his forehead to his guardian’s muzzle taking comfort in its words. “Thank you..” with that another bright light engulfed the area and Lloyd found himself in front of the mechanic shop. Nearly all the vehicles for the garden were stored here and Lloyd wanted to fine tune his Hydra. Making his way inside, he tossed off his suit jacket on his way to vehicle storage and found Hydra with a tart overtop of it. Whipping off the protective cloth, the blonde began to inspect his machine.

Falling silent as Lisanna reached out and took his hand, beginning to lead him through the crowd, Salem simply complied with her direction. Letting his eyes search the crowd for things of interest. Or that at least pleased his senses, which with how some of these people dressed wasn't too difficult. Nona had proved that already. Though suddenly he found his sister much closer then expected as she had stopped, Salem managing to do so as well before blundering into her. A odd stare accenting her face before she spoke five soft words.

However before his mind could even bring together what might have been the problem, she flashed a smile for a moment, resuming her leading role of taking him to some place for them to talk. Hopefully some quality family bonding. Soon coming to some stairs, and following his sibling up to a balcony that overlooked the ball, Salem was sort of surprised that one guy who had dragged him and that other guy off earlier wasn't here. Or at least a SeeD guard to make sure people like him didn't get away with murder. Thinking about nonsense like that now wasn't the important thing though.

Traipsing over to the railing next to his sister, he turned around and leaned backwards over the railing a bit as Lisanna began to speak, apparently finding this place suitable for them. And, well, he would agree, it was pretty much deserted except for the ivory haired duo. Though her words were not of such an agreeable nature. Ah, did she truly feel so alone growing up in a school filled to the brim with people? Of course she did... Being around people doesn't mean you're amongst them.. He thought, bitterly, a bit of a sour expression taking hold as his thoughts were none too cheery.

Luckily though, she had more to say, and it placated him that she wondered if he too felt in such a manner. "Never stopped feeling that way... He muttered, mindlessly answering his sisters words, raising his head a bit when she eventually asked of their family. Looking over at her after the request, a bit surprised to find her staring at him. Though, his face softened a bit and a small smile appeared, Salem nodded slightly in compliance. There shouldn't be too much harm in being a bit open. After all, she was family, and there was a pretty good chance on the gamble that she wouldn't turn against him. Then again, there was also the oddness about the request.

It was the phrasing, it seemed to hint towards a finality he was ignorant of, but being aware of how badly he would want to know about his family if he was on the other side of this conversation, he could not decline her request. "Well, to be honest, I don't know that much about our family. I remember the house, a bit, and Mom and Dad seemed happy." He began, narrowing his eyes a bit and looking up as he tried to remember, "But I was so young, everything else I know was what Edea told me about them. Before she took me in into the orphanage, and the disaster that befell our family, she says they were happy. And that mother doted on us all the time." Though it seems just being of the Everett bloodline makes us monsters to burn at the stake.

Abruptly Salem went silent, covering his face for a moment with his palm. Whatever thoughts he had apparently drawing up unwanted and ill fit emotions. Anger and rage were beginning to slip through, and for control he augmented his hand with flame, burning himself slightly. Not enough for it to show, but enough to pull his hand away from his face and snap him away from whatever foolish act he could have done. Honestly between Nona, Lisanna, memories and being amongst the enemy, Salem's little balance of emotion was probably degrading further then planned. Perhaps a bit too early for him to be useful to be honest.

Finally, after a short moment, he resumed speaking. "She says, mother disapproved of Adel even, but it's not like it stopped prejudice of those Esthar bastards from bringing a firing squad to our house." Shaking his head a bit, and brushing some of his hair back, Salem wasn't done talking. "Not like those ******** bastards care. One is just like the rest, kill them all. Even if the-" And then he stopped, eyes wide, and covered his mouth. Damnit, could I be any more obvious? He thought, pulling his hand away from his mouth at his reaction. Why was he being so off around his sister? Normally he could lie his way through a lie detector test.

Perhaps, just a bit, he had let himself be too relaxed around his sister, and unfortunately his anger at... what seemed to be the circumstances of the world to let him ramble on just a bit too much. Hopefully, what he said was just undetailed enough for Lisanna not to extrapolate that they came from a Sorceress bloodline. Especially if these SeeD weren't as inadequate at security as they seemed. It's not like he was able to check this place out for cameras or anything before hand. "A-anyway. That's pretty much all I know. Oh, and apparently we get our hair after our grandmother. So, yeah."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

It saddened Lis to hear that her brother had also felt alone in his childhood, but somehow also comforted her. ’We’re not alone anymore…at least for tonight…’ She thought to herself, still studying his face. It was interesting for her to see the different emotions play across his features during their interaction. At first he seemed almost distasteful, so much so that she wondered if she had said something to upset him, but his expression soon softened and he even smiled at her a little. In the short time she had known him she guessed from his manner that he preferred to play things close to the chest, however despite that he seemed to have trouble managing his emotions and how he displayed them. Overall Lis thought he appeared to be a very conflicted individual…about what, though? Was he just having trouble accepting that she was his sister? It was kind of a life changing state of affairs, so she could understand that. Or was he finding it difficult to trust her? That in itself raised questions though…like whether he was hiding something. His behaviour at the elevator earlier had alluded to something similar.

Lisanna listened quietly as her brother went on to speak about their family. She was surprised that he could actually remember their house and their parents, as having memories at such a young age seemed unlikely. Not to mention she had no memories of either and she was a year older than him. It pleased her to hear that they had been happy, though, and she smiled at the thought. At least until Salem continued and mentioned a certain name, at which point Lisanna’s smile abruptly faded. After everything Sou Ho had just told them about their suicidal mission, the name of their target was not something she would easily forget.
”E-Edea…Kramer…?” She said faintly. Could it be possible? She didn’t know how common a name it was. Had her little brother been raised by the very sorceress she was supposed to…no, surely not. Lis tried to dismiss the idea from her mind until Salem could verify her surname. She had gone white as a sheet, however. Salem might not have noticed since he now seemed to be covering his own face…almost as if he were in distress. This of course attracted his sister’s concern and she frowned slightly, watching him. When he eventually spoke again his words both confused and shocked her into silence.

Firstly the name…Adel. Who was that? And why would their mother disapprove of him..? More to the point, what on earth was Salem talking about? It seemed he was losing his concentration on answering her question. But this momentary train of thought was soon derailed by Salem’s mention of the term ‘firing squad’, and then shock set in. Lisanna’s eyes widened and she went, if possible, even more pale. Her hands started shaking as she clutched the banister to keep herself upright. Salem was looking like he thought he’d said too much, so his emotions must have gotten the better of him. That was fairly self-evident from his vulgar language anyway. Was this what he’d been hiding…? Their parents’ violent deaths at the hands of a firing squad?? She didn’t even know who ‘Esthar’ was. She’d never heard of them. Lisanna looked at him through tears.
”Wh-Why..?? That’s just…too cruel…tell me it’s not true…” She shook her head, placing a hand over her mouth for a moment, as if she might be sick. ”What did they do that deserved them of such a fate??”

Vartias' cool, almost icy gaze, not out of cruelty, mearely out of a businesslike disposition cast along as each of them ere introduced. his eyes scanned and memorized the features of each face and name. He would be spilling blood with these people after all, he had best remember who is not to be cut down. Silently he watched them leave, each one marching as though they had already died. Everything about these graduates seemed so odd. On the other hand, Varitas recalled what losing a comerade felt like. How he'd been in a walking coma for nearly a month, that time...

"No time to think of the past!" He shouted at himself inside his own head. When, finally He and the headmaster stood alone in the room it was Varitas who spoke first. "I imagine this Edea person requires a bit more information before I face her yes? Her name seems to have been the most troubling detail of the mission briefing. Judging by those children's reactions." Varitas' had been quick to cut to the chase, a trait common when one is out of their element and desprately trying to make sense of the world he's presented. Only Sou-ho's father has thus far managed to put Varitas' mind at ease, and then only slightly.

Tae lowered her gaze as Sou-Ho stared at her and Ellale. It was just so soon afterward and the mission was Sorceress Edea Kramer. She'd heard stories of the Sorceress. Some good some not so good. In the girls point of view the woman was out of their league. Someone with more training might be better for the job, but from the sound of it they were all this garden had at the moment. They must have been very spread out or had lost that many in missions prior. She closed her eyes taking in slow calming breaths. She wouldn't let it get to her. Every mission would be different and that was something she would eventually come to terms with.

When she opened her eyes a sense of calm settled over her features. Perhaps even acceptance of something lit her eyes. The only thing that had her doubting and questioning was the girl beside her. She was still hurt and in pain, would it be wise that she come with? When she gazed over at the girl love and caring shown through evening her eyes a different sort of light to them.

Blinking her gaze shifted upward to see that Lloyd was standing behind them. She gave the boy a small smile. Lloyd was always the protector. The goofy guy who had a serious side to him and at times seemed too fragile. As if he would break at a moments notice. Perhaps it was just her that saw that in him.

"Thanks Lloyd." She spoke in a soft voice and watched as he nodded to Sou-Ho and then leave the room. Briefly she was curious why he left by himself but brushed it off as she took Ellale's hand and too took their leave from the room.

The rest of the night was theirs to do with that they wanted. They could head to their rooms and get a good nights rest or take a few more hours and enjoy the music and the night's sky. "Do you want to listen to a few more songs?" Tae asked gazing towards the ball room. "We can sit out on one of the balconies and enjoy the night air staring up at the stars while having the music playing in the background."

Salem almost scoffed at his sister's reaction about what had happened to their parents. While rude and heartless it may have come off that was far from what he meant. "Sorry." He said quickly, apologizing in case she had taken it the wrong way, before letting out a bit of a sigh. "I just find it hard to believe you're so shocked by it... Being a soldier of the Garden and all. I suppose SeeD don't send firing squads to peoples houses..." He said, as much as it stung for the concept to even come across his tongue. Though, before the thought could become anything, it was shut down by a further utterance. "Often."

And for a moment, he was quiet, before pushing off of the balcony. "This is no way to carry one of the first conversations I get to have with a long lost sibling." Pausing for a moment though, he tilted his head slightly to the side briefly, "Nugh... Anyways, you spoke of something about having to leave tomorrow? Where are ya heading too? Galbadia, Balamb? You know, I don't plan to let my sibling run off on her own so soon after meeting her." At least he wouldn't if he could help it, he has already lost his parents, same as her of course, but knowing himself and everyone he cared about were under threat from Seed. He couldn't help but see his sister in a similar position, even if the danger to her was less overt.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Salem seemed to be somewhat disbelieving of her reaction, which was apparent from the way he scoffed at her. She blinked at him in confusion through her tears, sniffing and wiping them away with her arm as he went on to apologise and explain. ”N-No, it’s alright. I understand…I guess…” She said, taking in a slow breath and composing herself. ”Some people think SeeD’s are like that but actually we work for the good of our nations and their people…Winhill wouldn’t do anything like that…lord, I wouldn’t work for them if they did.”

She smiled faintly up at her brother. He had gone quiet but then he pushed himself off the balcony, Lisanna following him gently with her blue eyes. She smiled again as he light heartedly changed the topic and asked her where she was going. With her thoughts and emotions all over the place Lis answered before she realised what she was saying.
”I’m going to Deling on a miss- Oh!!” She clapped a hand over her mouth, her eyes widening in shock at her mistake. She stared up at her brother with a guilty expression, eventually lowering her shaking hand. ”Oh no, I…I shouldn’t h-have said th-that…” She stammered. The girl closed her eyes, wringing her hands anxiously. ”How c-could I have been so stupid…p-please, Salem, you mustn’t tell anyone what I said. I-It’s supposed to be confidential…” She opened her eyes and looked up at him with an expression like a condemned prisoner. What was done was done, though, and she couldn’t take it back. Lis wanted to kick herself for being such an idiot. ”Anyway…so, uhm, yes…I might be gone a while…I’m not sure how long…sorry.”

She sighed softly, still wringing her hands a little and clearly bothered by her slip up of revealing the mission location. Such an important mission and she’d jeopardised it…Lis felt a heavy knot of guilt in her stomach tighten. It would be okay though…she could trust Salem, right? He was her brother. And he was only a musician, not exactly a spy for the enemy. Well…at least he knew the truth now anyway. Though he didn’t know all of it…like how dangerous it would be. Lis wondered if he’d stop her if he knew the whole truth. She couldn’t tell him though…as her duty as a SeeD and just for the fact that it was too cruel to tell him something like that. She shook her head as if to clear her thoughts and smiled at him.
”If I retur-…uhm, I mean when I see you again…you should tell me everything, okay?” She nervously touched his wrist. It was obvious he was hiding something from her. Something about their family...

Lis had heard enough for tonight, however, so she decided she wouldn’t push the matter. If she survived the mission there would be plenty of time to talk to her brother about it in future, if not…well she would let fate decide what would happen. Salem had not answered her question about Edea’s surname, but she figured since he hadn’t reacted to the one she’d given it must be another Edea.
”Well…perhaps we should say goodnight before I make more of an idiot of myself…” She clasped her hands in front of her, lowering her gaze to the floor as if embarrassed. The evening had taken several unexpected turns for Lis and she was feeling almost exhausted by it all now. ”I am glad to have met you, Salem.” She said finally in a soft tone.

In all honestly, it was a comfort for Lloyd to suddenly be there. She might have been upset with the fact that he messed up her hair if it weren’t for the fact that she was stunned with the mission. He tried to offer them some comfort though, telling them it would be okay with a light kiss on their foreheads. Ellale didn’t say anything as he moved away after his cheerful tone, but she seemed to become more and more resolved as she sat there. She slowly got to her feet with Tae and made her way out, silently, holding Tae’s hand just faintly as she went. She didn’t say anything once they were outside right away though, instead her expression was strangely serious as her yellow eyes seemed focused in thought. It wasn’t until Tae actually spoke to her that Ellale realized anyone was even around, at which point she blinked and looked up at Tae with surprise, as if just now noticing her.

”Sounds like a good plan, Nya.” Ellale said, adding in her little nya at the end as a smile caught on her face. It was a rather sudden change, but it didn’t seem forced, it seemed rather natural as the girl nuzzled her partners arm before releasing Tae’s hand and taking a skip away. Wincing as she did, being reminded that she still wasn’t in good shape before she smiled once more and started to walk to the ball room, stopping at the door for Tae. It seemed like their group had just separated all over the place, but that was probably for the best given they all had things to think about. For a moment, Ellale wished she could speak with Kalay, but as she didn’t even know where he was or what he would be doing, she knew that was a hopeless goal as she wouldn’t even begin to know where to look for him or how to talk to him about this.

”Nya nya… nya.” Ellale was letting out these soft sounds as she went, almost as if she were back to her usual self, but she still seemed hurt. She didn’t seem unhappy though, but there was certainly a thoughtful look to her eye when someone managed to catch her gaze. She seemed to be thinking about something quite seriously, but whatever t was she said nothing of it as she and Tae made their way to one of the balcony’s to enjoy the music and to avoid people, or at least that’s what she assumed the idea was.

From his perspective, it was a bit sad. Lisanna honestly believed SeeD weren't bad. That the Garden's and their minion forces were some kind of forces for good, but they were little more then savage scum, whom unfortunately his sister was in employment with. Mercenaries for hire were never ones to be trusted, and Salem could never understand what would make these any different. Especially in his experience they never seemed any different then most other armed people, asides they had actual training. But few of the ones he had fought and killed had seemed like anything but payed murderers.

They're just tools of war... Tilting his head towards her when she let it slip she was heading towards Deling, Salem's instinct to flip his s**t was remarkably subdued at the irked feeling he got from that timeline. Though, watching his sister react in almost the exact same way he had when he slipped up, it did manage to wring another smile out of him. Though, without responding to his sister, he simply stood there and watched her as she rambled on, now studying anything she said for any further information that could be extrapolated from what she said.

Another red flag was thrown up by her accidental usage of the word 'if', quickly trying to cover up whatever she was attempting to avoid saying but giving him a more assured statement about them meeting again. And looking away from his sister for a moment, things were beginning to click. He had been here and completely missed out on that one dark haired fellow assigning those SeeD on a mission. Nona, Lis, Kalay, that blond fellow, the guy who I saw outside, Hiro's sister and Kalay's little sis. Oh, and that one a*****e... At least, that's who he thought was all called together, unsure if he had gotten them all down, at least he knew who to look out for after he arrived at Deling.

Slowly nodding at her request of next time he should tell her everything, Salem pretty much agreed wholeheartedly. "Maybe we'll see each other again sooner then you think." He finally spoke, giving his sister a tight hug. "I'm happy to have met you too. Just, whatever it is you're doing. Be careful, okay? And if you need a place to stay when you get there, stop by the Galbadian hotel, just tel them you're my sister and it should be good." Rubbing Lisanna's back for a moment, before letting go, he smiled again before giving her a small wave.

"Goodnight, Sissy." He said, turning around and beginning down the steps. It was time to work, plus managing a trip to Deling before the SeeD got there while reviewing what little information he had managed to steal. Damn my personal interest... Salem thought, grumbling a little as he weaved his way back through the ballroom, and quickly made his exit to the elevator, and soon to the front door. The short drive home wouldn't be much of a- was that Hiro leaning against the hood of his car. "Oi, Hiro? What was up with the disappearing act earlier?" Salem asked, not honestly expecting a response.

"Anyways, get in. I'm heading home, and as I assume i'm your ride, that means you are too." Sort of blunt, but, being a teasing, joking, jest of a man wasn't quite what Salem had in mind since being thrown by a loop by what he experienced. Proceeding to get inside the drivers seat, withdrawing one of the folders he had hidden beneath the seat, he started the car as he flipped open the folder. Reading a little bit as he looked at Hiro, waiting for him to join him in the car before taking off. This sorcerer was in a hurry.

Lis relaxed as Salem hugged her and rubbed her back, smiling to herself. It faded from her face quickly though. ’Sooner than I think? I doubt it…’ She thought, saying nothing in response as he let her go. She studied his face, briefly wondering why he would say such a strange thing. Perhaps he was just being optimistic. ”I’ll try to be careful.” She said finally, inwardly relieved that he wasn’t pressuring her for more information, and then nodded slowly. Somehow she didn’t think she’d have the opportunity to visit the hotel but it was considerate of him to say such a thing. He must have visited Deling before at some point, she reasoned. The thought made her shiver slightly, though she couldn’t think why. She gave a small wave back as he said goodbye and left, watching him descend down the stairs. ’Sissy…hm.’ She thought with mild amusement. ”Bye, Salem…” As soon as he was out of sight she flopped down onto the floor with an exhausted sigh, rubbing her temples and not caring about ruining her dress. There had been too much to think about tonight…and not much of it good. ”I should go…” She said softly. It was a pity she couldn’t have enjoyed the evening more, maybe danced with a few more people, but oh well.

Something on the floor beside her caught her eye and she realised she’d dropped the rose Kalay had given her. Lis picked it up and pondered something for a moment before reaching up to pull out the ribbon in her hair, letting it fall across her shoulders and using the ribbon to tie the rose stem to her wrist so she wouldn’t drop it again.
”There, that’s better…hm, guess I should go find him.” She muttered to herself, giving another sigh before dragging herself to her feet once more. Where had he gone, though? A cursory glance over the railing of the balcony yielded no sight of the green haired instructor, and she stood there for a few minutes intently scanning the crowd below only to still not see him. ”Did he leave…?” She wondered out loud, frowning slightly. Well, if he’d gone back to his dorm she could stop by and say goodnight perhaps. Lis started down the stairs, her hand trailing on the banister. Her gaze swept across the ballroom but she still couldn’t see Kalay, and so eventually decided that he really must have left without saying anything to her…which seemed odd. Then suddenly Lis stopped, a thought hitting her. ”Ah, I know where he is.” She said, smiling faintly to herself before continuing down again. Of course he would be in that place. The girl reached the bottom of the stairs and began to head towards the exit.

{{O.o.c:// }}

It was like a dream. A girl was curled up soundlessly against him, head resting against his side as she dozed peacefully. The sun was warm here, the light playing with the grass as the breeze gently pushed by. Perhaps it was a dream, that was the best way to describe it. Kalay gently reached up and patted the strange girl's head without thinking, feeling her stir faintly at his petting. She wasn't very old, perhaps just a bit older than half of Kalay's own age."mmm, Yes?" A voice asked, a familiar soft tone. "You really are stange, you know." Kalay commented softly, gently sitting up. This place was familiar to him. Stretching forever in every direction was the unending sea of grass. It was like when he'd first met his GF. Of course... the girl curled up against him layed back and looked up at him with bright ruby eyes with a smile. In all honestly, she looked so much like Carbuncle it was almost uncanny. Ruby eyes, teal hair. It was an almost perfect match.

"I don't know why you favor that appearance. You could be anything and yet you chose to look like that." Kalay said lightly. The girl let out a faint giggle and shook her head at him. "Perhaps because this is what you like best, yes?" She teased in response, reaching up and poking his nose. Kalay gave a faint smirk before turning his eyes to look up at the field swaying around them. He remembered this place well, after all one would not often forget the place that they met their Guardian Force. "I'm not a fan of little girls whom can't take care of themselves." Kalay refuted trying to not laugh. He knew she was pouting without even looking down at her. "You're so rude sometimes. I can take care of myself." The voice responded with a huff. Kalay let out a breath as the world slowly seemed to fade away.

Kalay's eyes opened slowly but they did not meet light as they had in his dream. They were met with darkness and stars in the sky. He didn't move initially, his eyes focusing on the sky with a gentle smile. The grass swayed around him gently with the wind, much as it did in the field he remembered so well. Why had he come here? He had come here to be alone and to let Carbuncle enjoy the grass once more. They both had no idea of if they would return or not, but neither expected much in that regard. It just made sense for them to be here. With a content smile, Kalay closed his eyes and rested. From a distance, anyone whom could see him would certainly notice a figure curled up against his side sleeping contently. It would be hard to tell what it was from a distance though, but as one got closer they could perhaps make out the sight of Carbuncle curled up against Kalay fast asleep enjoying the cool night air as much as Kalay from the looks of it.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

It took longer than it probably should have for Lisanna to make her way through the Garden and down to the fields where she knew Kalay would be resting. This was mostly because she wasn’t in any particular hurry and she was a little tired and thoughtful, so she meandered along at a fairly slow pace. A few students greeted her on the way but she merely nodded and smiled in response and did not stop to chat. And somehow her smile didn’t seem as genuine as it usually was. When she eventually stepped out into the grass she paused for a moment, looking up at the stars and feeling the cool breeze on her skin. ”I understand why you both come here so much…” She said softly, glancing around.

It was dark enough that she could see very little but she knew it was safe here, and that if she wandered for long enough she’d find Kalay and Carbuncle, and that was if they didn’t find her first. She leaned down and slipped off her shoes, picking them up in one hand and starting to walk again, humming a lullaby faintly under her breath. It was nice to feel the soft earth and grass beneath her feet and she felt very relaxed in the quiet night that surrounded her, as if all her cares were far away in another place, another time. Eventually by the light of the stars she saw some shapes nearby, but they weren’t quite what she expected. One was a male sitting down, which she presumed to be Kalay except that she thought she saw…someone else…lying beside him. As she got closer, her footsteps soft on the grass and her dress rustling faintly, the breeze blew her hair in her face a little and when she looked again the figure was gone, replaced with a smaller, more familiar shape. Lis came to stand several feet behind Kalay and stopped. For a minute or so she didn’t say anything, then she let out a soft breath.

”I should have expected that you’d leave as soon as you got the chance…when I couldn’t see you anywhere I realised where you’d disappeared to.” She closed her eyes, smiling wryly. ”I promised you I’d find you though, so I guess I can’t blame you for not saying goodnight or walking me back.” The girl looked at Kalay and Carbuncle again, seeing how at peace they were sitting together. She withheld a sigh. ”I had hoped that y-…ah, nevermind. I don’t want to disturb you so…I will just wish you both a goodnight.” She finished in a soft tone and turned away, back in the direction from which she’d came. She might have said more, but she knew she didn’t need to tell Kalay to spend the rest of his night however he wished, since it might be his last. Lis glanced down at the rose tied to her wrist for a moment with a strangely sad expression before starting to walk again.

{{O.o.c:// Fear Not this Night}}

Carbuncle was the first to stir of the pair. The gf stretched, opened its eyes and waited patiently, staring above the grass. Kalay reached down and stroked it's ears gently, but aside from this he didn't really make any motion as he waited. Carbuncle stretched and got up onto it's feet, turning it's attention up to Lisanna as she stood behind Kalay. The wind blew past them all as they lay there, Kalay's eyes focused on the sky with a gentle expression. "I figured you'd not have trouble finding me." He stated with a chuckle. He seemed rather amused she had found him, but perhaps that was because it wouldn't have been easy to find him to start with given the size of the field. Perhaps he needed to start changing where he laid to make it harder for people to find him. Kalay sat up suddenly as Lisanna turned away, Carbuncle tumbling off him and getting up with a huff, eyeing him warily. Kalay had to hold back a laugh as he caught the glare.

"She's a girl. Carbuncle that is. You've been showing her a lot of attention for a long time, and I realized I've never told anyone she's not a he, like a keep calling her. I tease her with it." Kalay explained as he got to his feet. Carbuncle still looked unhappy with his having sat up so suddenly, but seemed to dismiss it as Kalay brushed himself off. Carbuncle padded over to Lisanna before nudging her leg and looking up at her, fully expecting to be picked up from the looks of it, ruby eyes watching her intently. After finishing brushing himself off, Kalay pulled his hands into his pockets and walked after Lisanna, standing next to her as he looked down at carbuncle. "I'd say she wants you to pick her up." Kalay suggested, taking a few steps ahead and glancing back at Lisanna. "You didn't think you weren't getting walked to your room, did you? Carbuncle was waiting for you to find me so we could." What a strange way to suggest they had indeed been waiting for her. Could they really have been though, given how at peace that had seemed laying there?

"Anyways, lets go Instructor Everett. It's your bed time." With that subtle joke, Kalay started off, Carbuncle clearly still waiting for Lisanna to pick her up. If Lisanna chose to ignore her, Carbuncle would eventually just fall into step with Kalay to walk with him.
