Akito Kurosuke

Akito gave both girls a wink. "Glad you both enjoyed it." he joked since he was pretty sure he had some pretty horrible off tune moments since he had no idea what the lyrics was and, as he had warned the girls, he was no singer.

"How old am I? Well, for young folks, usually anything past twenty is old. At least by human standards." Akito told Tshila. "And yes, I forgot to introduce myself and it's late. The name's Akito, Rosentale's best security guard! Maybe. I've never really met the other guy."

"Now then, let's get to the food-- Oh! Vivian! It's been some time since I last saw you. How're you holding up, squirt?" Akito said. And she brought a kitten too. And judging by 'we,' that meant more people were showing up. He grinned at Tshila. "Looks like your plea for people just came true."

Penelope closed her eyes, enjoying the smell of the salty ocean air and the feel of the wind on her face. She had been wanting to come to the beach for quite some time now, though she had been postponing her trip for several reasons. First, it was due to the fact that she had been making plans with a particular half djinn to go to the beach together, but she hadn't seen Tshila since that incident in the gym on family week. She was certain her cheerful friend wouldn't mind... probably, and she really had needed to get away from the school so...

The second reason was due to her swimming attire... or lack thereof. She didn't actually own any bathing suits that were well, made for women, so she had been waiting until she had managed to turn back into a boy to go to the beach, because what was a trip to the ocean without body surfing? Of course, that didn't matter now anyways. Her idiot brother had managed to get her stuck like this, and there was no way she was wearing a girl's swimsuit, so she might as well just sit on the shore and let the scent on the wind and the sound of the waves soothe her shattered nerves. Her hand had stopped hurting. She was relieved she hadn't damaged anything in it. How would she play piano then? It would have been a problem, though honestly, she thought grimly, it would have been worth it. She hoped her brother had a black eye for a while because of her.

She inhaled deeply, then sighed. As uncomfortable as she was, the only way she would ever be able to turn back into a boy would be to get used to this body. It wasn't that she didn't feel like a girl. She was a girl, body and mind, but for some reason, her self conscious nature became far more acute as a girl. Simply put: she had body issues. However, she knew that the only way she would ever get her brother to change her back would be to prove to him that she was just as comfortable with being a girl as she was with being a guy. It was the only way to win...

She was going to have to wear a dress wasn't she?

"Acta est fabula, plaudite!"

Of course, the first place Markus wanted to go for the weekend was the beach. It was perfect. The sand was warm, and there was all the water in the world to swim in. He would live there if he could. But that would be silly. That would be like living at a library just because he liked books. He walked across the sand, and to his surprise, he spotted someone he recognized a short distance away.

The bird in disguise. He stopped, hoping he hadn't already caught her attention. He watched for a short moment, seeing that she seemed as though deep in thought about something. Perfect. It was always easier when the prey was distracted. He slowly crept forward, making sure each step he took in the sand was absolutely silent. He needed the element of surprise, especially since he intended to drown his prey first.

He slowly made his way behind her, flickering his tongue out rapidly to remain aware of everything around him. He only stopped when he was a foot behind her, looking down and checking to make sure his shadow wouldn't give him away. Nope. He crouched slightly, as if he were getting ready to pounce. He waited until he thought the time was right before swiftly attempting to scoop her up like a sack of potatoes and run toward the water.

The hair on the back of Penelope's neck prickled. Before she could figure out why, her world tilted, and she squeaked in surprise. Someone had picked her up, and was currently running with her towards the water at a speed that she found... most unsettling.

She immediately suspected Pierce, but when she managed to get a look at her assailant while struggling to free herself, she saw that, in fact, it was the boy from the library the other day... the one who had threatened to eat her.

Suddenly breaking free, which was already an urgent priority, became much, much more important.

"What- you- get OFF!" She yelled, managing to break free just before the sand turned moist. She landed on her back, the sand cushioning her fall, but not doing much to help her scramble to her feet as she glared at the boy in frustration. What was this guy's deal? Was he really trying to kill her? Or was he just messing with her?... either way, she was unamused... actually, this sort of thing happened to her a lot.

"What the HELL is your problem?" She said, currently more upset that afraid. "Do you think doing this sort of thing is funny?" She took a hesitant step back. Angry or not, she had no idea what this boy was, so even if she was currently feeling brave, it was probably better to play it safe.

"Acta est fabula, plaudite!"

Markus struggled to force the flailing girl to hold still, the water in sight. He had to wonder why she didn't just stop hiding her bird... ness and fly away though. It could have saved her life, but no, she just flopped uselessly like a fish. Well, at least until she somehow managed to get free from his grip. He immediately slid to a stop when she fell onto the sand in front of him, not wanting to accidentally trample the prey.

He was about to scoop her up again, but she got to her feet to quickly. He stared at her, his tongue flicking out rapidly as he was trying to devise a plan to throw her into the water without having his eyes clawed out by her. But then she started yelling at him. He was going to step back to keep his distance, afraid that she may turn the tables on him, but then she moved back. Hm. So she was just trying to scare him off? He wasn't going to let that work.

Well, since brute force clearly wasn't working, he was just going to have to be more tactical about this. He held up his hands to show that he meant no harm, reassuring her, "Hey, calm down. It's a beach. I thought people enjoyed being throw into the water. I didn't think it would scare you like that. Sorry." Augh, that word hurt to utter, but he still managed to maintain the innocent smile on his face.

Penelope shifted uncomfortably. The guy was flicking his tounge in and out at her. Creepy much? Maybe he had some sort of nervous tick. Shetook another step back before responding uncomfortably. "Yeah? Well, I... I'm not particularly fond of being picked up from behind and dropped in a large expanse of salt water." She folded her arms and looked away from the boy. "And... a-and you didn't think it would scare me? Being grabbed by some guy who told me..." She paled slightly, glaring at him again as she continued. "You said you were going to EAT me when we were back in the library... I don't know where you're from, but that... th-that throws up some pretty big red flags for me." She took another step back. By this point, her anger was dissolving, leaving nothing but her fear. Maybe she should make a run for it. Try and find a more populated place. Although... the boy seemed genuine. But there was still something off about him...

"Acta est fabula, plaudite!"

Markus frowned, wondering why anyone would be against being thrown into the water. It sounded like fun to him. Well, ignoring the fact that he had thought about drowning her, of course. And then she brought up the whole eating thing. He regretted giving her that little hint, now that he saw that it ruined any chances of taking her by surprise. This just meant he would have to gain her trust before striking.

But, first and foremost, he needed to find an excuse, which was easy, because it certainly was nowhere near the first time he'd lied, "Oh! I'm sorry, I was just joking about that. I try too hard sometimes to have a sense of humor. It's just that, where I come from, my kind is always rumored to be violent and bloodthirsty by humans when, truthfully, we live rather peacefully away from everyone else. It's just become habit to mock my 'savage nature'." Not even the slightest bit of truth in that, but that was fine as long as she would believe it.

He took a step forward when she took yet another step back, flicking out his tongue and watching her carefully just in case she would try to run. He held out a scaly hand to her and gave her a friendly smile as he said, "It's unfortunate we got off to such a rocky start. I didn't mean to frighten you. Could you possibly forgive me?"

Penelope gave Markus a wary look. "...Joking?..." She looked at her shoes, unsure of how to react. It honestly hadn't seemed as if he had been joking earlier to her, but really, how would she know? She knew nothing about how other races of humanoids acted. If he was trying too hard to have a sense of humor, then he might have done any number of things to get her to laugh, even things that might have seemed threatening... Though really, grabbing at her injured hand, telling her he wished to devour her, and trying to throw her in the ocean all didn't ring as very humorous to her. She gave his hand a look, but didn't extend a hand in return. She really wanted to be one to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this guy... She just wasn't sure about him. she was gonna play it safe for now.

"I'll... think about it." She said stiffly, folding her arms again with a huff. "You said your kind. What are you?" She thought about what she just said, and blushed. "A-ah, I mean: I'm from a place where we regard any sort of... um any sentient life that isn't human as fictional... or, maybe it is fictional there? I... What race do you... What is the name of your kind?" Well THAT didn't sound any better. She looked away from Markus to the ocean, embarrassed. "And... What's your name anyways? If you're gonna throw a gu-... er, if you're gonna throw a girl in the ocean, shouldn't you at least tell them your name first, or something?"

"Acta est fabula, plaudite!"

What a horrible girl. Markus had actually made the effort to be kind to her, but no, she just left him hanging. He hissed slightly as he let his arm drop back to his side, wanting to drown her despite any resistance he would have to deal with. But he denied that temptation, giving her a chance so he could eventually catch his prey without dealing with any messy situations.

He watched with a frown, clearly not amused as she stumbled on her own words for what felt like a century. She was either still jumpy, or not a very confident human. Wait, human? That must have been a lie. He was sure she was a bird in disguise. He wanted to deny her an introduction as revenge for refusing to shake hands and 'forgive' him, but he couldn't just break his fake kind image like that. He did catch that slight slip up near the end and found it odd, but he just figured she simply stuttered. Or she was a hermaphrodite, and that wasn't really something he wanted to think too hard about.

"I'm a Lacertavir. I'm sure you've heard of dragons, yes? Those are our ancestors, supposedly. My name is Markus and I'm guessing you're still not trusting enough to shake hands, right? It isn't the first time I've scared someone off like this," He sighed after his introduction, sure that guilting her would be an efficient way to force her to be a little more trusting. If not, then he would admire her heartlessness.

Penelope looked down at her hands, feeling slightly ashamed. Oh... well... Markus seemed a little more genuine now. Maybe he really had just been trying to hard, though his demeanor now was a bit different from how it was in the library... Gah! Penelope bit her lip and looked back up. Okay... if worst came to worst, the parking lots for the beach weren't all that far away. She still wasn't quite sure about the guy, but if he was telling the truth, then odds were that he was pretty lonely, and... well... she'd feel absolutely terrible if she didn't at least act a little friendly. If he was lying? Well... she was fairly certain that she could at least out run him to the nearest populated area nearby, though she REALLY hoped that he wasn't lying... and that she was better at knowing when people were telling the truth.

"La-...certa...certavir?" She attempted the word, blushing when she butchered it. "Um... that's a mouthful... sorry. I've never heard of them... you... you're kind!" She looked away from him again, uncomfortably scratching her right arm. ''Guess I didn't read the right books growing up..." She remained like that for a few seconds before breathing deeply, looking back to Markus, and extending a hand.

"I-I'm Penelope." She said hesitantly. "Um... I guess it's alright, i-f you were just kidding around I mean." She smiled nervously. "Though, you might want to work on that a little... you kinda scared me half to death a few times, you know?"

"Acta est fabula, plaudite!"

"Lah-chair-tah-veer," Markus sounded it out for her with a sigh when she completely butchered the name. Honestly, it wasn't that difficult. "Latin for lizard and man. Though, if you don't have any experience with the language besides roots and such, I suppose I can excuse your mistake," Though he didn't really want to excuse anything the birdbrain said or did.

But he had to smile a bit when she actually trusted him enough to extend a hand. Good. That meant his method was working. He shook it, resisting the urge to yank her forward and try to drown her again. She still seemed very hesitant, so he would wait a little longer.

"Penelope... It's nice to meet you. Well, without scaring you out of your skin, at least. Now, I've been curious for a while. Why are you here? I mean, you don't look like you're prepared to go into the water. The sand is nice and warm, but that's hardly a reason to come to the beach," Making small talk was irritating, but he was just going to have to deal with it if he wanted to trick this... hermaphrodite bird.

Penelope shook Markus's hand, then shoved both of hers deep into her pockets. Something still didn't seem... right about him. He was acting apologetic and being all polite, but... It was just such a drastic change from how he had acted before... Still, she could feel her fear ebbing away, so some part of her must have believed he was genuine. Well... might as well be a little friendlier. what was the worst that could happen?

She could be eaten. Right. Penelope winced at the thought.

"It's... nice to meet you too, ah, without you scaring me out of my skin I mean." Penelope said, echoing Markus's words. "I'll... make sure to remember how to say it for... next time. Lacertavir... Lacertavir... yeah. Next time someone asks me about the latin word for lizard and man, I'll... you know, be able to tell them."

She trailed off awkwardly as Markus asked his questions. "I... I needed to think I guess." She said after a moment's thought. "I like swimming and playing in the ocean and stuff, but really... I've always found the beach to be peaceful... even when there's tons of people around. The smell of the air, and, and the sound of the waves... Yeah. It's relaxing." She looked at her shoes, hesitant to say more. "What about you? Why are you here? At the beach I mean."

Reilynn was flying on her broomstick like the great witch she was, but she was suddenly up turned like a table when a gust of wind in the air blew her into a spiral. A flurry of gibberish escaped from her mouth as she tried to regain control, but her concentration was obviously lost and her broomstick left with a poof.

"@#$%^%$!" Reilynn cried out and then it ended with an "Oof."

She had fallen some ways from two figures. Whether they heard her or not, she was not sure. She got up and dusted herself off. She will pretend nothing just happened. However, she was curious about these two and not knowing about stranger danger, Reilynn skipped over to them to find her heater and a girl.

"Maaaaaarkuuuuusssssssss!" Reilynn cried out as she ran over to him since it had been a while since she saw him. Yes. She was going to hug him and cling like a koala.

And then introduce herself to his friend.

After the announcement that school was out early, Angela dithered in the hall for a bit, still feeling a little down after what she'd seen earlier. But she was determined not to keep moping so after a bit, she went to the dorms to change. Rifling around for her swim suit--a red two piece she'd picked out before coming--and changing into that and a pair of beach shorts and flip flops, Angela threw some other things into a bag, went to fill a water bottle and find a towel, and she headed off school grounds and toward the beach.

Once she got there, she spread out her towel, dropped her things and doffed her shorts, heading toward the water. She paused to shield her eyes and look up at the sun. Maybe she should put on some sun screen first.

Angela temporarily returned to her towel, flopping down as she began to go through her bag to find the bottle of sunscreen. She usually didn't burn too badly but considering she was still recovering from previous injuries, she didn't want to deal with a sunburn too. Tying her hair back--ugh, she really needed to cut about another foot off it--to get it off her back and shoulders, she started to smooth the sun screen over her shoulders and arms, careful to put a bit over her nose and cheeks as well.

Ew. That smell always drove her batty.

Staring out at the water as she tried to get sun screen on the lower part of her back, Angela wondered if the water was cold. It was still early summer so it might not have warmed up much.

But it was a warm day. The sun made her sleepy, too. She was tempted to curl up on the towel and nap for a bit but figured she probably really would get burned if she did that. Instead, she stood and stretched and started to the water, her feet sinking into the warm sand as she headed toward the surf.
