 Cornelia nodded and smiled. She giggled a little and watched the man cooking. "Lily?" She asked, "What was making you sad yesterday?" She started to play with the bow in her hair.

 Lily glanced down, she couldn't face Cornelia and a grim look came across her face. "It was nothing," she lied even to herself. The man glanced up at her, feeling sympathy and guilt knowing he couldn't tell the little girl and went back to his work. Lily balled her left hand into a fist to keep tears from coming as her hair blocked her face. She and loved Alice like a mother and she still couldn't believe that she was gone forever. Alice..... Where did you go? Why couldn't I come with you? Why didn't you let me protect you? she thought furious but sadly at the same time. "Noodles are ready!" the man said, breaking the silence between them. He placed each of the bowls in front of them. Lily broke two chopsticks and started eating, savoring the flavor but thinking about something completely different.......

Cornelia looked up at her with sad eyes, "I-I'm sorry," she mumbled, then she took her miso ramen, split the sticks and started to eat.

Lily was too lost in thought and she finished up. She stood up and paid for the meal and looked at the man. He seemed to understand and nod slightly. "I'll be back in a minute...." she muttered walking outside, but not too far. The man continued working, but as he promised her. He watched Cornelia for Lily while she was out. "Are you enjoying the ramen?" he asked curiously toward the girl.

Cornelia nodded, "Yes it's the best I've ever tried!" She exclaimed, giggling a little. She smiled at him, "if you work here, do you eat ramen all the time?" She asked curiously.

The man chuckled, "Sometimes..... Butnother times I make other stuff like soup, or chicken, anything I want to cook and have the ingredients for. I'll cook it...." he explained warmly looking at her.

Cornelia smiled, "You must get all the girls after you seeing as you are such a great cook," she said, then finished her ramen and grinned up at him.

The man chuckled, "I did when I was younger, now I'm happily married and have a lovely daughter that helps me from time to time. Oh, would you like more?" he said smiling warmly at her.

Cornelia paused and put her finger on her lip, "Hmmm... okay," she said with a nod. She smiled up at him sweetly.
