Wykla gave Enyo a quick smile and a wave. That was a pretty green she'd gotten. She would have to make sure to congradulate her at the feast laster.

C'rci, the new shortened name would take some getting used to, but it had a nice ring to it. With her own dragon in tow she would have happily returned to the edge of the sands or turned to watch and see if Orlina was having any luck impressing, but there was one rather large problem.

A steel striped blue problem that was currently trying to fit himself into his riders lap. Admiring her handsome blue the girl was careful to feed the dragon slowly having to scold him here or there for not swallowing and trying to cram too much into his bottomless gullet. Bolth was just so very happy and he wanted to express that love and happiness which left him torn between trying to rub his blue hide off on his rider, eating, and wanting to chatter. The end result being half broken conversations, crooning, and C'rci having to grip the feeding table to keep from getting flattened beneath her own dragon.

"Bolth watch the claws my heart. Watch the claws." C'rci muttered scratching her handsome boys eyeridges absolutely smitten with how responsive he was to her touch. The dragon practically throwing himself at her for more as his eyes whirled green and blue with content. With each handful of meat the glinting red of hunger was slowly beginning to fade with every new morsel.

Miiiiiinnnnnnnnneeeee. Bolth practically purred in C'rci's mind his tail tangling itself between her legs as he settled down beginning to grow sleepy. My hide feels funny. The little hatchling complained bumping his head affectionately against his riders shoulder. Looking up the young woman's gold eyes scanned for oil, only to have a pot handed to her almost immediately.

"It's all right love. Here." And C'rci began to slather oil onto the steel blue dragons hide. If Bolth had been crooning before he practically purred arching into her touch, love an affection practically flooding through his riders mind. The bond would take a little getting used to. At times she had trouble determining who was the dragon and who was the human. Was her hand clawed or fingered? Yet after the first few confusing moments and rush of emotion the pair had begun to ease.

Stroking Bolth's hide C'rci worked the oil into the dragons skin with great care. Her hands were steady and strong massaging the little ones muscles as she went about oiling him a small smitten smile on her face as she worked. No dragon of hers was going to have itchy hide. If she had any say in the matter Bolth would be shining like a gold at all times and with such a striking coloration he was quite the looker.

Her dragon was striped, not just striped striped, but wicked ragged stripes like the kind sometimes seen on the feral felines of the southern continent. His over all hide was a cool steel blue, his stripes darkening to a more majestic night blue marking his hide. Why when he was full grown he'd be quite the threatening and majestic sight.

There was only one slight tiny problem.

One of the cavern workers carting more meat for the hatchlings stumbled the platter falling and shattering loudly as it hit the ground. With a half cry Bolth dove eyes whirling in fear as he buried his head right into C'rci's robes his entire form shaking. MINE! He called out into her mind in fright seeking solstice and protection in his stalwart C'rci.

Bolth was most certainly more the lover then the fighter. Lucky for the blue his rider had courage to spare.

"Shhh I've got you Bolth. Come out of there dear one. I would never let anyone hurt you." She coaxed, slowly, gently, detangling the trembling hatchling from her clothes stroking his eye ridges lovingly. Unfazed C'rci continued her oiling sending feelings of love and calmness to the fearful blue trying to work him out of his fearful frenzy.

After some time Bolth finally relaxed laying curled up and overflowing his riders lap as she carefully oiled his hide till he glistened. I've got you Mine so of course you've got me. No one else would do. Bolth replied with a little yawn his half lidded whirling eyes looking up at C'rci. The girl had to fight back tears as the wonderful creature crooned up at her. How wonderful she was, how brave, and how determined. How could he ever think she'd been anyone else, but her? But he'd gotten so jumbled up and tossed about and everything was rolling and moving and he'd been so mixed up.

Leaning down to press a little loving kiss to the blues nose she smiled finishing up the last of the oiling having used the entire pot up in her attention to her task. Staring down at the gleaming blue C'rci smiled. No one was ever going to roll her Bolth down a hill again. He would never be jostled, pushed, or left in distress for as long as she lived this C'rci assured him.

The Black had Impressed one of the girls! Orlina didn't know her, except by sight and name, but she smiled anyway as Impression was made. Atypicals were hard to raise, and she mentally wished the pair luck. These days atyps seemed to all grow to adulthood, but there had been a time where the potential for them to die young had been a possibility. That was almost too sad to think about.

Orlina lifted her eyes to where Aerith lay, her white hide standing out starkly against all of the darker dragon colors. What had Mercy and Aerith gone through? Orlina had heard something about dragon sweaters from somewhere, although the source of that information had fled from her memory. Still, the white, the smallest of all atypicals, had survived. These two or three would be fine.

She looked back at the wriggling egg as a dragon thrust its pale foot through, but it wasn't until the dragon had escaped its shell that the Candidates received confirmation that yes, this was, in fact, a Silver and he looked proud enough that she was fairly sure his was here somewhere. The Bronze had seemed to sense something wrong the moment he left the egg, even though it took him some time to gain his bearings. This little one was not only proud, but he looked actively for his Chosen-- from right where he was standing. Orlina couldn't help the smile that curved her lips. Maybe he didn't want to be caught thrusting his face into the sand the way the Black had. He didn't seem as if he would appreciate the indignity of it.

Morgaine watched as the black took a few steps, stumbled, and then let out a small cry. The poor thing. He was struggling, yet she knew she nor any of the other candidates could interfere. He had to do this on his own. Soon enough the dragon was moving again, taking a few stumbling steps and then collapsed in front of her. "MorgaMine! Your Palooth is so hungry! Help me?" Morgaine almost couldn't believe it. The black was hers. Crouching down Morgaine looked fondly at the dragon. "Don't worry Palooth I'll make sure you eat."

Reaching out Morgaine ran her hand over the blacks head. He looked too weak to make it over to the meat. Plus he was injured, not badly but injured nonetheless. "Let me see your wound." Palooth complied, laying on his side. Ignoring the blood and the possible diseases and general unsanitary nature of things, Morgaine used the sleeve of her robe to wipe away the sand and ichor from the scratches. "It's not bad, will heal just fine. Now let's see about getting you that food." Eying the distance to the tables where the meat was Morgaine wasn't entirely sure Palooth would make it there. Well that left one thing to do. Carefully, and with quite a bit of effort, Morgaine hoisted the dragonet into her arms. For being small he sure was heavy. With a grunt Morgaine began to make the way towards the meat. "What are you doing Mine?" Morgaine couldn't answer, her entire concentration was on walking and not dropping Palooth.

She made it about half way before she couldn't take another step. Gently she set Palooth down, breathing heavily. "Can you make it from here?" The dragonet looked towards the table and nodded. "I think so." The pair then began to walk towards the table together at a slow but steady pace.

Peering his head around his riders side Both quirked it sideways and gave a welcoming chirp to Palooth. Nudging C'rci her urged her to turn, which took a bit of doing without dumping the blue onto the ground and off her lap.

Mine! Mine! Look! Bolth called to her springing from his riders grip to gallop over to the black and it's rider once they got off the sands. Circling the little blue pranced and leaped about his sleepiness forgotten in his excitement.

Look! Another one! See! I wanna play? Do you think he'd let me play? Why's he so small Mine? Is he hungry? He can have some of my meat! The striped blue asked and darted back to the table nudging C'rci until she handed him a piece of meat.

"He's a black Bolth, they tend to be a little smaller and no love let him rest some. You two can play later maybe if he wants too." She assured her dragon holding out the meat as the blue daintily plucked it from her hands crooning happily to trot over to the black with head held high before dropping it happily at the black riders feet.

Here Palooth! I'm all full! You need meat, mine says your supposed to be small, but maybe you just need to eat more? Is that your rider? She's pretty. I like your hide? Do you like mine? Mine says I'm a handsome boy. Are you a handsome boy? I think you are. What does handsome mean anyway? Bolth all, but tried to chatter his clutchmates ears off as he trailed them to the feeding table before flopping back down in his own riders lap.

"Oomph! I'm not a chair Bolth." C'rci teased her blue going back to scratching his eye ridges and offering Morgraine an apologetic smile for her dragons chatty tendencies. Bolth was just so very very curious and excited! He wanted to meet everyone and the black was the first hatchling off the sands after him.

"Congradulations on your impression Morgraine. This friendly blue is Bolth." C'rci introduced her dragon with a fond and loving smile as she looked down at the crooning creature who was currently shifting from looking at Palooth to rubbing his head against his rider.

The Silver remained where he was, apparently conserving his strength, before he finally nodded towards the assembled boys and dropped his head to concentrate on walking. Slow, deliberate motions as he found his footing become increasingly confident if not quicker and he eventually made it to the front of the boy's line, huffing and puffing as if he'd truly exerted himself, and paused to lift his gaze up once more.

All of the young mens' gazes were on him and he seemed to puff at that, their rightful admiration bolstering his reserves. A prince. He was a prince of the weyr... and they his people. Head held up high, he continued forward, a little slower then before, and when one youth didn't get out of the way quite quickly enough, he stopped, looked up and barked at him with an imperious tone, waiting for him to move.

S'drawn grinned as Cyrci impressed to a very pretty blue. He was bumped by his brown and he realized that he had stopped oiling him.
"Sorry he grinned."
Skewth hummed at him and said. As long as it doesn't continue to happen.
S'drawn had oiled one side all the way down to the dragons tail and he sat and massaged it as he watched all the action.
A silver now pranced of the sands the picture of royalty. But at least his brown had some humility. The tail tip twitched and Shedrawn grinned.
C'rci came to the feeding tables and had a blue in her lap almost immediately. S'drawn grinned more and reminded himself to congratulate her...when she wasn't so busy.

Seyari was given some oil where he sat, which was a good thing - he didn't know where he was supposed to get it. But he did know how to use it, he'd been paying at least that much attention in lessons. He started to oil Lownth's hide as she flopped there with her head on his lap.

He was slow and methodical in his application, and she seemed to enjoy it, thrumming softly in her throat, almost like a purr. She was small, now, so it was easy for him to apply the oil at close range. When she got larger, there might be more problems with that. However... right now they were both in utter bliss. Finally, though, Lownth decided to comment to the others, and to call out to her newly Impressed brothers. Well, a few of them anyway.

Skewth! Yours is brilliant at oiling, as is mine. Are you enjoying yourself? Ours should speak at some point... she called toward the brown.

Bolth, have you had your fill? I have had mine, and am quite full. Would you like to play later? her greeting went out to the excitable blue.

And last, but not least - Palooth! It is good to see you have found yours! I should like to get to know you later, if you are feeling well enough to visit!

Seyari's oiling did not stop, but he DID pause to watch as a Silver inched along toward the boys. Proud. Majestic. A 'prince'. But the boy had a quiet thought to himself. He's acting a bit haughty, isn't he?

As rightfully he should, Mine. He is a silver. He is royalty.

But still...

Skewth purred at the green.
Oh yes they oil well. I also think they should speak. Skewth nodded his brown head up and down at the pretty green.
What a good sister to talk to us mine!
S'drawn had walked around his dragon to start on the other side of the brown. He loved the different markings on Skewth and truth be told he loved Skewth's very name. It was so interesting. S'drawn was proud as a green with a clutch of brown eggs.

Enyo smiled back at Wykla as she started to then sing to her Jineth.
"Warm thy wind and soft thee ground
For time has no bound~
Here you are and here you stay
Let us forever be free these days~

You are mine and I am yours-together we're one
Sweet the life we share has come this dawn~
Thy night shall be warm and bellies shall swell
For now our lives start and all is well~"

Mine has a warm heart, thank you. May I have more?
Enyo smiled as she softly rubbed the oil around the back of her green. "I'll ask."

The silver did seem more coordinated than most atypical hatchlings, if only because he was moving more deliberately and carefully than most. And he seemed to know exactly where he was going, too, though he was a bit prideful and demanding in getting there. Well that certainly mean that this one wouldn't be going between like the bronze. She hoped the last egg would be a live hatchling and would find its rider quickly, as well.

Running critical eyes over the boys the silver dragonet walked proudly onward, head held high and wings arranged just so. Poise was clearly not something he was lacking but as he moved his eyes began to dull slowly, testifying to growing weariness. Huffing as he reached the end of the rank he turned around and headed back again, notably picking his feet up high as if he wanted to get as little stand stuck to them as possible.

After another pass up and down the boys he came to a halt, eyes now as wearily dim as the poor black's had been. His perfect posture did not change however, nor did the pride and confidence in his bearing fade along with his energy. Instead of walking now he turned his head to regard each face in turn and finding each one lacking... each one until that one at any rate. Eyes lighting up again the silver dragonet took a half step forward and hummed to his bondmate.

Stand forward, KerritMine! You should know only you could be for Tormth!

Bolth rolled onto his back stretching out and overflowing his riders lap as she rubbed his stomach his hide glistening with the careful oiling she had given him. Crooning up at her the handsome blue fawned over his rider curling into C'rci as best he could.

I could never be better Lownth sister. I have found Mine. Bolth purred cocking his upside down head to look at his green sibling as she greeted him and his other siblings. True he wanted to go meet the others, but he was loath to leave his rider's side and settled for crooning and chirping at any sibling of his that came near in good cheer.

Play? Yes I'd love to play later on perhaps. Mine is giving the most lovely scratches. He purred slowly righting himself in his riders lap rubbing his head into her hand as she rubbed his eyeridges.

Looking up from her Bloth she spotted Shedrawn, now called S'drawn by the looks of his handsome brown. Flashing a smile at the other rider she nodded to him lifting her one free hand to wave at the older boy. Though she paused mid wave her face flushing with embarrassment as her stomach rumbled. Lifting his head Bolth himself plucked a piece of bloody meat dropping it into his riders hand his eyes bright with pride and cheer at his offering. Chuckling C'rci took the piece and set the offering aside.

Hungry? Mine's hungry! I got you food Mine. Plenty of meat, good meat. Do you not want meat? Bolth asked his rider his perked wings drooping and looking utterly forlorn at his riders refusal of his present

"Thank you my handsome boy, but I cannot eat raw meat. Don't worry there will be a feast once all your siblings have hatched. I'll eat then my dearest heart." C'rci explained with a loving smile trying to reassure her dragon and keep him from worrying. Reaching out she wrapped the steely blue in her arms stroking his head with her hands.

Do I not please you Mine? He creeled at her looking completely heart broken as he rubbed his head into her strokes.

"Oh Bolth you could never disappoint me." C'rci assured him her chest swelling with love for her blue even as the dragon slowly began to perk back up chirruping happily and prancing about his rider. Course he was best for her. No one else would ever do.

Stopping behind her Bolth perched his paws on his sitting riders shoulders burying his head into her red locks only to suddenly sneeze shaking his head and settling for licking her cheek instead.

Orothor watched the lighter skinned boy Impress to the Silver, glad on the one hand that it was over because that dragonet was beginning to look tired. He needed food and rest after his exertions if his rider expected him to survive through weyrlinghood.

His eyes returned to the Solid As A Rock egg. Of course Eirlyn had saved that one for last. What did that thick shell hide? What atypical was it? A Black? Another Silver? He doubted it was a Crimson, but that was possible, he supposed. Maybe even another White, though that was so unlikely as to be impossible. Then again, Mercy had probably thought it was impossible as well. There was no way to be sure, but Orothor was sure it was going to take a whack as hard as the one Eirlyn had initially given to the Black to even begin to help this dragon from its shell. It sat there, tall and still, as if waiting for Eirlyn to be done with the others so that she could remember it was still there. There was a dragon in there still. Orothor was sure of it.

It was also his last shot for this Hatching. Part of him sank at the thought, but he rolled his shoulders very slightly to try to shake it off. No assuming it wouldn't be for him. No assuming it would be. Hatchings ran as they were meant to and no differently. If the dragon chose someone else, he would decide if he were to Stand again or not. If it chose him...

How many Candidates were watching the final egg with as much or more intensity than he was?
