Rouge weaved in delight; the smile looked good on the handsome buck, and "A poet? How charming!" she laughed, "I'm sure your talents are prodigious - certainly measured against mine, for I am rather more of an artist. But if you wouldn't mind toying with an amateur, it'd be my pleasure to be your match." A suggestive flutter. "For all Acha are poets, in our own ways - or most Acha, at least," she amended with the newcomer's showy arrival, "some Acha are jugglers - isn't that so, Catching Fire?"

There was no way around it. Albatross preened when the grey kiokote invited her and the swan doe forward. A competition would serve a twofold purpose. First, it would demonstrate her general awesomeness and then, hopefully, it would cement her blossoming friendship with the white doe. She still didn't know the other's name. But such things were not important in her grand scheme of things. She hid a small smile within the neck of the white doe, listening to heartbeats. Straightening up,she stepped backwards and looked directly into the doe's eyes. "Alright, what are we going to sing?" In the rush of mounting excitement, she rushed forward a plethora of ideas, "Birds, wings, flying. Where do you go when your wings tire you, white kimeti? Racing, freedom or treasures?" Perhaps it was time to learn the other kimeti's name. She stood completely still, slightly rocking her head back and forth to a very specific kimeti's rhythm.
She froze. If Albatross were a cat, her fur would be on end. As she was not, she simply acted when one was presented with an enigma. Something spooky was at her back. Keeping her gaze and pivot easy going and loose, she looked over at the pink acha blazed with orange, "Hello, Sugar Tits."

The white doe had followed Albatross' movements, following her as she rushed ahead with excitement. She was careful this time, determined not to fall on her face again. She did not want to make such a name for herself! She didn't want to scare her new companion away by proving she was such a wingless, klutz of a doe.
"Hm, hm, hm," she murmured.
"Songs of the sky are wonderful, don't you agree?" She asked, her breath lingering for a moment. Did she just call her white kimeti? Oh no, oh no, oh no! Did she forget to tell her what her name was? Now that Forgotten Feathers thought of it, did she know this doe's name?
"My name, my name is Forgotten Feathers!" She announced, leaving a long gap afterward so her companion could return the favour if she wanted. She didn't want to push her away by making her do things she might possibly not want to do.

... And, quick as you please, another Acha came dancing through the crowd! Balancing upon his nose - his tail - kicking up with his hooves - keeping aloft a rock in the most marvelous display of nimbleness and grace! Yes followed him, wide-eyed with a colt's wonder at the act. How marvelous! The balance and poise he exhibited were simply superb, admirable - coveted. Yes wondered if he might be able to do such tricks, or if it was a trait solely belonging to the Acha.
Perhaps they, as mutual displayers of showmanship, could meet in private after the hubbub had died down and swap tips on dazzling - for Yes realized he had been dazzled, well and truly, knew it from the moment he'd seen the broad winks and grins. The difference was, he thought, that he liked to dazzle ladies, and this fellow liked to dazzle crowds.

]Forgotten Feathers. Albatross repeated it exactly as it was said, complete with the correct placement of the intonations. It did sort of explain why she was never looking at the ground, head always in the clouds, literally. Was she looking for something? How irksome, or not. It sounded like a future adventure for them.
"Albatross. Birds of a feather, eh?" A pregnant pause later. "Songs of the sky... I recall something about the sky falling..." Albatross grinned. Those were fun stories. Looking at Forgotten Feather's legs she asked, "Can you dance?"
So many more acha and colorful kimeti kept on popping up. Where did they come from? Instinctively she drew closer to the other kimeti and shook her head elegantly so. As if they could beat this duo.

"I'm alive." Snow-Blind stumbled a bit, his legs still barely able to hold him up. "Barely. Come on, let's go find some does and some food and a nice place to watch the games. FAR from those horrible Kitecutters, can you believe they almost trampled us!?" Snow-Blind reached down to offer... He wasn't sure how he could help the buck up, but he'd offer support at least.

“Well, I suppose always being lost has to be interesting. They always say you find the best things when you’re not looking for them. I don’t know who they is though. Anyway, I’ll try not being lost for you so we can stick together somehow.” Speak Softly tilted her head to the side and regarded the cat with a frown. “Is he okay, is he choking?” She would have gone over to give him a helpful smack in the side, but Travels mention of singing caught her attention. “I never knew my mother.” She didn’t seem bothered by that, she’d just blurted out a random fact the she felt somehow worked with the conversation. “Cat can sing!” Speak Softly thought that was great, fantastic, brilliant! “Let’s here it then! I bet cat sings better than the little baby Kimoti Kimozl Kimacha things.”

 "Albatross!" She repeated.
Things seemed to be going well, her new companion had told her what her name was and even knew a song about the sky. However, nothing seemed to stay good when the other doe seemed to look at Forgotten Feathers' legs and ask her that question. She stepped back at it, her feet nearly tripping over themselves as the anxiety set in. Could she dance? Oh no, oh no, oh noooooooo.
"I can't dance!" She yelped. "I can't, I can't. I'm not very graceful, not graceful at all... I'll fall again!"

Once Forgotten had spent long enough dawdling. The Kiokote pressed forward, calling out to the doe with the glowing markings. “Excuse me… you, can I have a moment of your time?” He trotted over, throwing his head back and gave her a look that was not meant to be a glower, but may have come over as such. This was obviously going to be a long shot, but there still hope. If he hadn’t had that, he wouldn’t have brought his siblings all the way here. But that bit of hope also made him nervous. He didn’t want to fail. As if remembering his manners, he bobbed his head to any others with her, but his eyes were only for Glowing Stream. “I only wish to ask you a question.”

"Certainly, miss, nothing to worry about," he replied, almost cheerful, "he will receive plenty of warning." Oh yes, he would. He would receive nothing but warning for the next week straight, and that was better than he deserved. "In the meantime, we will, of course, anticipate your visit with much joy; and let's see if we can't get more to join you - free samples, anyone?"

The goddess spoke! And her name was Albatross. Her blood flowed hot, and without waiting for a reply from Catching Fire, nor the handsome poet, she said to the latter off-handed, "I will be your match," never taking her eyes off the doe. It started even, like a chant, but soon rose into a lapping song:
"I sing of the desert - of the desert's daughters: Fired by the sun's rays, polished by the sandstorms, Acha daughters glitter - Acha gleam like gemstones, They dance like dew-slicked diamonds, their laughter rings like crystal; Far from home, my lovers shine in my heart forever.
Blessed be this Blossom, who traveled far to waters: Traveled far to sisters - alike and yet so different, Softer, like sweet flowers, like sweet flowers fragrant - Blest I who so far traveled, that I may gaze in wonder At beauteous Albatross in flight, and her Forgotten Feathers."

" Okay." Pieces breathed. " I guess I'm alive too then." He weakly turned to the kindly doe and managed a smile. " It's nice of you to offer, thank you. Might you know...uh..." an attempt to recall the other buck's planned activities, " a place around here with some nice does with food without Kitecutters to watch the games?" Huh? Oh yes, he was here for something that he really wanted to know in the case he was less lucky the next time he was involved in a life-threatening situation. " - and might you know anyone who looks like me?" In any case, he flopped forward and hooked his head on his accidental companion's neck, hauling himself to his feet.

"I find wonderful places," he agreed the tiniest crease in his brow. He simply never could remember where they were which only led to more places found until he somehow miraculously managed to find the one he had been looking for. He rather liked it like that for even when he did find a once-visited place, he thought it was new. And when he did remember it wasn't, he felt rather pleased for himself for finding it. (It was exasperating really for anyone who knew him. Especially his cat.) He wasn't sure whether not knowing her mother was bad. He had only been raised by his mother for awhile -- mostly because he had of course wandered off -- and now he found her sometimes. She only seemed inclined to know him when they were alone. And really, he liked his mother but she was rather boring. He nosed at the cat gently, pushed and prodded him until he was sitting slumped in front of the doe. The buck's front legs pressed against the cat's sides to keep him from running off. He dipped his head, "For the doe, cat, please."Guide tilted his head back and gave a long hard look at the buck. Then returned his head to look at the doe. She seemed very excited by the idea of singing. And he could hear the voice of something else singing in the background. He dearly hoped he would get a nice treat after this. It wasn't really much like singing, his mrows and yowls that climbed and dropped, but if one listened carefully they could put words quite easily in his mouth. He was much more like a mimic and the singing contest was quite a perfect thing to parrot. Not that he thought so even as he knew the buck would be smiling. Guide usually left this sort of trick for convincing the buck to let him sleep longer. (Oh yes, he better get a mighty big treat out of all this.)

Mead nodded once again, then turned to stand shoulder to shoulder with this interesting buck. " Free samples! Spectacular salted duck, sure to make your knees weak with joy! Free samples!" She figured she might as well help him a bit now, maybe cheer him up. And maybe bring in some more customers for him. " M'name's Meadowchild, by the by. You can call me Mead, though." He hadn't given her any of those looks bucks usually gave does, so he wasn't interested. It was shame, because he had such interesting patterns and colors in his coat. Charm laughed quietly and asked, " Kitecutters? Do you mean the kiokote? I haven't seen any Kimeti does with food, unless you count mushrooms--but you probably don't want to try those, Ghost Orchid is a bit...intense about observing what happens to her hapless diners." She paused as she heard a familiar voice call out over the crowd. " But I do hear a friend of mine offering free samples of salted duck. Wonder where she got it? Oh well, come along, then, that's a fellow." Charm lent a shoulder not covered with charms to the wobbling buck, glancing at his equally unsteady friend. Hopefully the two bucks could support each other for a bit. " I have met a buck with the same hair as you, but his red was darker, and he had some golden stripes about him. It's been a while since I met him, so I don't recall much, I'm sorry."

Snow-Blind hadn't even noticed the doe that had walked over and started talking to them. He was more out of it than he thought. When she started talking about mushrooms, his ears pricked up, his head snapped straight, and he tried his best to look charming with his legs still wobbling beneath him. "Well hello, there. My name's Snow-Blind." He tried to saunter towards her, but with his limp legs he probably looked more drunk than charming. Ignoring the weird conversation about other bucks- What is with everybody wanting to find look-alikes?-He tried to act non-chalant. "Sooo. What was that bit about mushrooms?"
