There was silence for a while as Rais gave her the instructions... and then promptly turned and began oogling one of the other fauns. A frown crossed over her face and Amadorine spoke softly, but with a hint of anger. "I hope this isn't a wild goose chase set on getting rid of me so you can continue to go slack-jawed at that other Faun there."

That said, she turned and stepped away from Rais as quickly as she could, feeling annoyance and anger bubble up within her as she strode quickly to the end of the crowds then burst into a full fledged sprint. How dare he. She didn't want to be there as much as the next faun thrown into a bizzar life-changing competition, but at least she was taking pride in what she did and sucking it up. That man, though, it was so clear who he really wanted to win considering he kept watching her. What bull this all was.

As soon as her hooves hit the soft grass, Amadorine paused and looked around her for a moment, shoving her previous thoughts aside to bring up a mental image of a map of the island. "Lets see... If I remember correctly, it's just due east of where Thom and I live on that beach." After getting her bearings, she crossed over to the main island and headed towards the southern side of the Tuatha Ri lake; she'd have to cross to many times over the water to make it worthwhile to go by her home.

When she finally made it to the Fae Clearing, she was out of breath, sweating a little, and had bits of plant life tangled into her hair. Attempting to free out a few twigs that weren't attached to her antlers, she looked around, then called out. "Miss Ivy? Are you here and available?"

Rais' head whirled around to face Amadorine as she made her statement. "Wild goose chase?" He felt his face flush, as that did make him angry! He didn't want to do this either, his Mother was the one up to this...but at the same time why couldn't he enjoy it? He watched her go and then shrugged his shoulders, it could wait until she got back.

User Image Ivy was crouched down next to a small bird. She had been in the clearing enjoying a beautiful day. She had no idea what was going on over at the Great Tree. She knew it existed...the other trees loved to gossip about it, but it refused to talk to her itself.

Ivy had heard a chirp and found a small bird had fallen out of a tree. When she asked the tree said he was trying to fly, but something had happened. "Are you ok little one?" She wasn't good with animals, her realm was all aobut flora.

Ivy sat up when she heard someone calling, "Yes?" She said wondering who could be looking for her.

Belvah frowned, a little upset that another girl had decided to insult Rais. It wasn't his fault that he was stuck staring at Belvah. She was just too pretty to ignore most of the time.

The silvery gray female sighed, shaking her head. "Chief Rais, there's a guy up there looking for you." She offered, nodding over towards Mo. Well he was the chief of the faun, she'd have to sacrifice any time spent with him to the other fauns right? Even if she was dieing to talk to him, the others were more important right now. At least, the vast majority of the circle was confused as to what they were supposed to be doing.

"I think that's your new adviser right?" She didn't remember his name, but the face was.. she'd remembered it at least. "He's been looking your way for a while now. Your future wife might have to watch out~" Belvah joked.

It didn't take Amadorine long to find Ivy after the Elder responded to her, and she walked up with a smile. "Hi, I'm Amadorine. Cheif Rais sent me here to ask about getting something from you." Her eyes wondered to the little bird and her brow furrowed. "Is he ok?"

There was something about Ivy that just caused Ama to relax, and she felt her annoyance at Rais slip away a bit. Not fully, but enough where she didn't want to grind her teeth at the thought of him.

Rais took a breath...counted to 10 and then looked at Belvah. "Yes, he is." He turned to Mo and smiled, "Sorry about that...things have been pretty interesting around here. I could tell you first lesson: go with the flow when Earthmother has her way." Rais laughed at the joke as he went to Mo's side. "You will learn a lot and grow up to be the best Adviser." He placed his hand on the teen's shoulder in greeting and then turned to nod at Belvah as a thank you.

Ivy looked to the femal faun that was looking for her. "Cheif Rais sent you for something from me?" Ivy frowned, what could she have for the leader of the faun? She knew of him, from Seda, but hadn't actually met him before. She did nknow that he could communicate with the tree that was there home and even though she was a gracious elder, it annoyed her.

Ivy then turned to the bird, "He fell out of the tree...he's trying to learn to fly. I'm not really good with animals, do you know of a way we could help him?" She looked at the bird as it chirped up at them.

"Fell out of a tree? Chances are he broke either a wing or leg in the landing. We could splint up anything that's broken, but that's really going to be about it. I could take him back with me to Laisidheil and see if any of the fauns there could help him." Speaking of Laisdheil, the girl frowned a little.

"Well... " Ama sighed, then attempted to explain what was happening at the tree. "Basically, all the female fauns are in the middle of this rather ridiculous 'game' to pick a wife for the Cheif and the few of us that made it to this last round where instructed to go out and certain items. Well, for whatever reason, I was given the quest of coming here and acquiring your crown of flowers." She blushed a little, being completely blunt and honest about everything. "I would say not to bother, but my pride isn't letting me take the easy road out of this thing; I have to do my best until my best isn't good enough."

Mo's ears twitched over to the mention of someone waiting on the Chief. The comment that followed struck him awkwardly and his skewed features of confusion and disgust were proof of that. As far as Mo was concerned, he was a ladies man, through and through!

However, Mo managed a smile when Rais turned to address him. He chuckled a bit at the comment of the Earthmother. "It has been noted!" he chuckled more then nodded.

Not wanting to be rude to the female that had brought Rais' attention to him, he turned to bow his head softly to her. "Many thanks, Miss." He looked her over quickly and hid the frown that dared to cross his lips. He had seen her before the trials with long beautiful hair. She seemed to pride her hair greatly the way she'd stroke it and by how clean it appeared. To see such a sacrifice struck him in an odd sort of way. However, he lacked any inspirational words to say to her at the moment, such was his luck.

He turned his gaze back towards Rais, hoping he wouldn't offend Belvah for giving the appearance of staring. He had some hope that if the Chief ended up with another, he'd approach Belvah himself, but seeing as the Chief currently seemed intrigued with her presence, he didn't delve much in the way of flirting with her...

"I will say, I'm a little surprised that I'm one of your 'brothers', let alone the Adviser..." he started, then bowed his head. "But I'm willing and eager to take on the role." he began again. "Is there any idea on when the 'Brothers' will be initiated, Sir?"

Belvah nodded, letting mo have his moment with the chief. Rais was an important and busy man after all. It didn't take her long to notice, once more she was being stared at.

A little flustered, Belvah looked away, not as flirty with Mo as she is with the chief. Perhaps it was a hint? Or maybe Rais just made her feel better about not having hair than she thought possible. The female faun blushed a bit, starting to cover her head once more. The fact that it shined in the sunlight was rather.. embarrassing. But it was reassuring to know men still stared at her, even without her prided hair.

"Perhaps," the Matriarch answered vaguely. Afterall, she was a fae...and the fae folk rarely, if ever, stated anything plainly, especially when negotiating. She looked Caleigh up and down, recalling their exchanges 'til this point. She'd been a bit disoriented, yes, but she'd had time to adjust by now. Surely she could handle herself in negotiations.

"Perhaps I could part with a single rock," the fae admitted, shrugging her shoulders. "But...an exchange would make things easier. Fire for fire, as the case may be." She turned her eyes to Caleigh's, fixing her with a hard stare. "Tell me, dear. Just how badly do you want one of those stones?"

It was rare that the Matriarch found anyone willing to stand up to her, or even resist her demands. The hyena-colored female before her hadn't shown much 'spark' so to speak, but if she wanted something from the Matriarch, she was going to have to show that she wanted it, that she wasn't just going to give up and walk away with her tail between her legs. So to speak.

"You think someone there could help, this little guy?" Ivy picked up the bird and held him softly n her hand, "You have to be very gentle with him if you take him back with you." Ivy held the bird out to the faun in front of her.

She frowned at her request and her hand flew up to her crown, "My crown of roses? It was made from the Fairy Queen when I became an elder." She looked at her and then at the bird in her hand. Ivy wasn't sure she wanted to give such a prize to this faun.

Rais saw the way the younger male looked at Belvah and then stood in between her and Mo so the teen could only see him. "She is a beauty, huh? Even without hair." Rais said and then looked at her with a smile. "I wonder who will win this contest to be my wife? It is very interesting to say the least."

Then he looked to Mo once more, "The initiations should be soon, just waiting to see how this wife thing pans out. You shouldn't be surprised you just haven't felt it yet. It will come." He nodded to Mo with a grin he hoped the teen wasn't nervous.

User ImageThe temple stood a dark and silent testament to a forgotten past. Though rebuilt in the ancient fashion, the isle's plummet to the sea and subsequent warmer climate had caused the temple to be overrun and overwhelmed by creeping vines and large overhanging branches of deep green leaves. Several of the columns had crumbled at varying heights, making the old relic seem more desolate, more melancholy, in a way that would make anyone who stood among its silent walls for any length of time resonate with a lonely sadness. Even through the ruin, the place still seemed to hold onto its majesty like a beauty in youth who grows handsome and charming with age.

This was her legacy, her home. Maetharanel loved it while also in some way hoping in the back of her mind that a strong wind would carry it all away, that she would be released from her destiny. Fat chance of that. Fate was a cruel mistress, after all, as the old cliche goes. She carried the weary look of one who has ceased to struggle against her lot in life; however, a bitter fire burned behind the young girl's bright blue eyes.

A trespasser was in her midst. The teenager lurked in the shadow of a high wall, her ebon skin blending with the darkness. She watched this tangle of cotton candy fur trample the remnants of the mosaic floor, cracking an occasional tile. Never mind that the flooring had also fallen into disrepair with large patches of grass and stone littering the sea of marble and porcelain.

Thara tried to keep her wings from twitching in agitation, lest she cast any notice to herself. This was wrong. This was all wrong. She was but one soul, unable to guard both the cave and the temple; she had only moderate confidence in her defensive magicks. This pink puffball had to go. And fast. There were great treasures to be safeguarded, and Thara was such a small Pae. She was determined to handle this quickly and have a bite to eat before heading back to the cave.

For now, however, she played the waiting game, her mind running through series of events like a chess master contemplating her next move.

Belvah blinked, watching Rais step between her and Mo. Did that mean he was attracted to her too? The silvery gray female blushed a bit, glad to see him protect her from embarrassment.

Wait, what if he just thought her to be repulsive and was protecting Mo from seeing an ugly woman? This was the worst.. Why did she have to second guess this? Rais wanted her too didn't he? Even if it was just lust on his part...

She held the shell necklace tight to her chest, trying to calm herself down. It was so weird letting herself be vulnerable like this about a man. Belvah didn't like it too much. She could only hope Chief Rais really liked her and wasn't just helping Mo not have to look at the hideous bald woman..
