[About time that SKULL posted]
Three days better, Harold was ‘allowed’ to leave his apartment and go back to school; but, it mattered little at that date. Considering the fact that the college’s winter break had begun, Bella’s nefarious plans to keep him and Casey separated could not have been less conceived. Although, given that Bella had been spending the past three nights at his apartment, the once painted male had little complaints. Perhaps it was simply to play the part of dating a ‘woman’; but, he had yet to use anything more than eye-liner in quite some time. One would think that he didn’t look like himself, and yet, he didn’t feel like a stranger was staring at him when he looked into the mirror. He felt more like his old self, the one not polluted by lithium and medications. As for his awful younger brother…Richard was quite right to feel distressed.
Skull had talked to his father…he had even asked for an internship…but his father would not be negotiated with. Henry Kempt had given his eldest son a debit card linked to the family account, and accepted his child’s proposal without a second thought. Their ‘gay’ son was dating a woman, not only that; but a pregnant woman. All things considered, his parents were thrilled. ‘ Not that I want them to be thrilled to see me.’ Just the fact that he visited them was enough to make the man question his sanity; but, in a way he didn’t mind being crazy. He was crazy about Billy, or he wouldn’t have put himself through torture.
At the moment, Skull sat in the backseat of a rented car with an arm around Billy’s shoulders. Outside the window there was nothing but mountains and snow and the sunshine glistening on the tops of the hill brought this strange warmth to the man’s face. Billy was excited about the ‘lodge trip’ he suggested, and it showed by the sunshine on her face as she turned her head to look at him. The half-smile that greeted her was small; but warm, and in the moment of warmth and familiarity Skull leaned forward and pressed his mouth against her own. Perhaps the view of this post might expect the brunette to be hesitant in her return affections; but by the cheerful weather or genuine feeling, the brunette kissed him back. Several times, but we shall end the subject there, for naught much else occurred besides conversation.
~
Forty minutes up the mountain, the car finally stopped in a covered parking lot near the Overlook Hotel. Now it was common knowledge that the overlook had a ski-lift just nearby for skiers and snowboarders that was open four months of the year; but, what was less well-known is that Harold’s family owned both the hotel and the side business. In fact, it was Harold’s own doing to send out anonymous ‘coupons’ for a free stay to everyone in their circle of acquaintance (Excepting a certain blonde pixie girl of course). Perhaps Harold wanted an audience…or more really, he didn’t want Billy to know the reason behind his coming here to the hotel.
Checking in to a room that had separate beds intentionally, Skull set his bags on the bed closest to the door and started to unpack.
~
A few hours later, Billy and Harold sat at a booth in the restaurant waiting for Casey to join them.

The morning of that same day
"I'll be back in two weeks" "How sure are you of that this time?" "Never sure enough sister, never sure enough...Give the other's my regard" "They got them, they're all listening and return it." "Except our favourite little rascal I'm guessing." "For a change... Kono's actually here" "Oh? Really? Guess that means I'm being really missed now... I really should return soon then." "Of course... Besides, Dad will give you a break... It's too late to start your studies anyhow. Haven't you considered interpreter? Your English must be getting better there." "I use it less than you'd think... But I should go now, before I spend all I have on a call to Japan." "Alright Toto... Take care and don't forget to call. Mother was worried you had an accident." "She doesn't have to worry... I can take care of myself and I will call."
A few short nothings as a goodbye later the young Asian male hung up the phone lightly sighing to himself. An unhappy expression plastered on his face. He arrived in this particular ski lodge about two months earlier with the excuse of needing to straighten out his mind to figure out what he wanted in his life. So far he had no luck and even though being were he was was allot calmer than the bustle of a family of seven -including parents. Not that they were particularly noisy or anything. Perhaps it was best he went home in two weeks as he just pretty much promised.
A breakfast and a few hours later Matoko was on the slopes with only a couple of other skiers and snowboarders. Matoko himself favoured the snowboard even though some if not many considered it more dangerous. It was busier than the previous few weeks. Probably because of what Western people called Winter Break. Though Matoko could only make a wild guess. He didn't really know when the majority of people here decided to take their vacations.
He went to the ski lift, ready to jump on, only to find that a raven head had beat him to it. Ready to give it up for the next, Makoto let go of the double seat. Only he was prevented by the raven head who dragged him on the seat before they were completely up and going.
"We might as well share... There is enough space for three on these..." "Gom..." Wrong language! "Ehh... sorry." Well ... He couldn't hide his odd accent at this point with r's coming out terribly soft and close to the l he dreaded whenever he even dared to speak English. "What are you sorry for? It's just 15 minutes." "Right..."
It looked like it was going to be a quiet ride until... The rail stopped and movement stopped and the couple a deux was stuck several feet above the ground. Great... now I'm stuck here with a stranger... Karma's a b***h today. I should've been home already! And while he was thinking that under his breath a little swear slipped out.
"Ksaa~" And at the same time the ravenhead next to him. "s**t..." For a second they looked at each other weirdly for their silent little swears. "What?" "I think we said exactly the same thing..." "So much for fifteen minutes." "At least there is company... Until somebody fix the machine." "Or a helicopter comes save us... But that'd be a bummer."
For a moment Makoto was shocked into silence, staring at the raven head as if he had just something very shameful or disturbing. It took a couple of seconds before actually responding. "Why?" "The problem would bad enough to need a machine replacement... And I was actually looking forward to this!" "Something is out to get you then." "Eh?" "Karma..."
The raven head seemed to burst into laugher... Well at least it was restrained laughter. Not that it was much of a comfort to the Asian.
"It serious you know... " He added with a slightly angry glare "Did you do anything bad recently? Because I know I did..." The male's laughter seem to fall silent and he seemed to actually ponder the question seriously. That or Makoto accidentally touched a bad string with the male. Maybe he was better off if he checked. He didn't want to get in trouble for angering a person 500 feet above the ground or whatever this height was.
"Did I say something wrong?" "No, no... What did you do perhaps?" "I didn't go home I promised I would..." The raven head gave him an odd frown-y stare. They fell silent for a long moment. "Could it be for another reason?" "Like what?" "That we were supposed to meet." Now it was Makoto's turn to laugh. "You're really trying to make fun me are you not." "It's a proper question!" "Fine... Maybe... I'm never sure what it wants though."
Another long silence fell and Makoto considered the idea of the stranger. Sure he didn't seem to take Karma anywhere near serious enough, but at least the suggestion was a good one. For a long while he stared at the male that seemed to be more focussed on the surrounding landscape. At least he wasn't super nervous or panicky in this situation. Good thing he didn't get stuck with a woman he didn't know. Besides the sight wasn't too bad looking. Especially for a western person.
"Is there something on my face?" "What? No!" Mato had definitely dreamt of somewhere in those minutes. "Then what is the lewd stare for." The Asian frowned a little not sure what the male meant with 'lewd' and he didn't have a dictionary on hand. "Maybe... It helps if we actually introduce ourselves." "Al right... I'm Casey and from this country and who is my co-captive on this infernal contraption?" "Makoto... Japan." He said with a slight bow of his head. "Give me a handshake you stiff Jap." Said the raven head holding out his hand and Makoto answer it in kind with some laughter. And as if it was the magic action the world had been waiting for the lift decided to start up again.
"That's a... strange coincidence." "You think? Maybe you were right about meeting." Casey snorted the suggestion away shaking his head as if Makoto was declaring silly superstition.
Several short minutes later with little of interest occurring on part of conversation the two arrived at the end of the line and both were more then happy to get of the lift. Casey seemed keen on checking his watch though.
"So much for having time for a couple of runs..." The male complained out loud starting his walk to a better starting point for the slide downwards. Makoto followed a slightly cheeky grin on his face. "How about race?" The Asian questioned. "We could see who's faster. We could make this run fun enough to count for more." Mato added when Casey seemed a little confused with the question. "Why not." Started Casey placing the board down and stepping on without hesitation and already starting. "See you down bellow!" "Hey no fair!"
Being faster to follow than he normally would get started his own path down and he was little more reckless in the sort of speed he allowed himself to make than he normally would be. Makoto caught up easily drawing Casey's attention as he passed the raven male. The race didn't last very long and could just as much have ended in a draw, but instead of a draw it ended in the two of them crashing into each other in their rush to prove who's faster. The little crash -in with Makoto wound up bellow Casey- of the two didn't do any more than dent their little ego's and somehow cause a small scratch on Casey's face.
"Kami-sama..." Makoto breathed trying to get from under the male that seemed to caught up in giggling his a** of. "You're heavy!" "I'm not!" Casey exclaimed giving Makoto a little stomp in his side before rolling of the male and getting of the ground with allot trouble -which included checking if his board was still fine.
"I should go find my friends... They'll be waiting for me." Makoto nodded watching the male waddle of before staying behind on the ground and sitting up to look at the mountain. He could help but smile as he went through the short hour or so that they shared. Not that Makoto was really much aware of how much time had just passed. He just couldn't help think of how terribly cute this guy was and acted. He's probably dating somebody... Probably a girl. He wasn't counting on Casey returning though.
"Would you like it if I invited you to join me?" Makoto looked up making sure if he was hearing this right and he was. Casey back standing there like a puppy begging for attention. That or Makoto's mind was turning it into that. Though the offer was tempting, Makoto was pretty sure he'd turn into a fifth wheel on the cart. "No... No... I'd be lost amongst your friends" "No you wouldn't... I wouldn't be the fifth wheel for a change. Come... I insist."
Makoto ponder the suggestion for a while longer before agreeing to come. He did wonder why a person would keep on entertaining people that made him feel like a fifth wheel, but he didn't want to outright ask it. Several minutes later the two of them entered the restaurant and Makoto was led by Casey to a booth with two people in that looked allot like they were dating somehow. Maybe it was the way they said, maybe it was something else, most likely it was Casey saying he was a fifth wheel with them just minutes before.
"I made it!" Casey exclaimed, looking genuinely happy for the first time in several weeks. "I came early though... Got stuck on the lifts and met this fellow here." Casey rambled a little taking a seat. Makoto didn't right away follow the move a little stuck in his Japanese manners. Casey turned. "This is Ma~..." Casey hesitated unsure of what followed the first bit of the name. "Makoto.. Mato works too if you really can't remember." The Asian intervened finally sitting down then, seeing as he looked a little silly staying upright like that.
"He's the local karma specialist.... Ow what's that for." Makoto had given Casey a little stomp to his side. "Now we're even..." The Asian stated somewhat seriously. "Fine... Couldn't you wait till after introductions... Anyway... Lovely lady is Bella and that's Harold, Skull for friends." "Pleasure meeting you." Stated Makoto a small bow of his head accompany the proper greeting. "stiff jap." Casey silently teased and whispered and he received a slightly angry glare for it
((I can almost sense Bella's eyes bulging out at this point ^^; =D ))

[Bella is so shocked and distressed that she will not let me post for her yet...]
“Hello! My name is Brittney and I’ll be your server today. Could I interest you in a wine or hot chocolate?”, Skull took one fleeting glance towards his boyfriend before turning back towards their waitress.
“ Two hot chocolates please.”, The raven-head would have asked for more; but, Bella spoke first and quite stole away his prior attention.
“ Could you add extra whipped cream please?”, With Brittney scribbling the order down, the redhead glanced up at Harold to inquire as to whether he wanted anything more; but, Skull’s eyes were pinned on Bella’s face with a playful expression. As Brittney walked away, Bella glanced about the room with yet another worried look and Skull felt his insides tighten uncomfortably. She’s waiting for him again. As adorable as Casey was, everyone at this table knew the man to be incredibly late for just about everything. ‘ Even dinner.’
“ I hope he didn’t get lost…”, As much as Skull wanted to be happy at the fact that Casey wasn’t present, he was worried too, and it showed on his face. Billy had every right to worry about her friend, and Skull had every reason to not want his boyfriend to be distressed in her pregnant state. Regardless of the remaining embers that had yet to fully burn out for Casey, that was the only logical reason he had to be concerned. ‘ If he chose not to come though…it will make the weekend easier.’ Out of respect Skull didn’t put any moves on Billy when Casey was around (though he was around a lot it seemed) and he knew that if Casey walked into the restaurant it would mean being unable to show affection to his boyfriend. Another thirty seconds passed by, and Skull was not the only one searching the mountains outside the window for smoke. Hoping to cheer Billy up, Harold turned his head with a playful smirk and let out a little chuckle.
“ Even if Casey did get lost; he’ll find his way here eventually.”, Billy bit her lip to keep from laughing; but, it finally bubbled in her throat before she shook her head and quieted herself. The evidence of worry still lingering in her features. ‘ If anything he just didn’t come Bill.’, Skull wanted to say, and yet he knew that telling her that would invoke that deeply wounded pain in her eyes that his boyfriend tried to hide.
Two nights ago, when Billy had fallen asleep; Skull found Casey’s letter in Billy’s pants pocket. Having fallen asleep while watching a movie in his room, it wasn’t too hard for him to extract the paper from her pocket without waking her up. Peeling it open, Harold’s eyes narrowed in thought as he scanned the first paragraph. Widened at the second, and squinted venomously at the forth.
‘ What?! The hell I was long gone! ******** up in the head; I’ll give you that! I have brain problems, I was overdosing medications I shouldn’t have, yes I was a monster for a while; but, long gone! Don’t tell Billy that ******** crap excuse!’, Casey was a sad, sorry, excuse for a man to go for someone just for the same of ‘not being lonely’. How old is he? Five? ‘ Crazy as I was, I knew I cared about you while we were dating.’, Feeling used and unclean, Harold wanted to crumble up the letter and throw it away; but, he couldn’t. He had to finish it, see what else Casey fed Billy. And in reading on…Skull felt horribly guilty. If not for his episode making him very weak, the man might have debated injuring himself.
I can’t look at him the same way without seeing some sort of monster. Whatever had once been between him and Casey was over. Skull already knew that, but it didn’t feel any more pleasant to hear or read it from the other person’s perspective. Although the man didn’t sob or cry, water had dripped down Harold’s face as he read the next paragraph. Deep contemplation vexing his facial features.
‘I’ve seen the two of you in pretty much the same manner Billy…I have to admit that in some way I loved you both, just a little bit differently. I guess what I felt for Harold is more like lust whereas you felt like my forever, my constant and it was confusing because it was so hard to tell it apart and make either one seem like it was or wasn’t love. The way I felt made it just a bit harder for Harold to get a hold of me and it was a reason why the relation with him had broken it up with. It just felt wrong treating him like a lover and you just like a friend when I felt so strong about you. How on earth could I even feel like that around you? I’m gay, right? I just settled with deep friendship, but all it took was alcohol and seeing Einian make his moves on you to change that.’
Skull’s hazel eyes had paused to scan over that paragraph several times, each re-reading his brain focused on different sentences and highlighted alternate syllables of each word until he could truly imagine the tone Casey might have used when saying the paragraph out loud. In the end, though, the water staining Harold’s face was not because he felt disrespected or guilty at himself. It was because Skull felt the same way. Yes, he cared deeply for the man; but, it had been more lust than that tug of security that came with adoring the right person. Skull couldn’t feel angry or upset towards the man for his opinion, when the man had a valid point, and he himself agreed with the sentiment. As a friend, though, when reading such a letter, it would be respectful to break off their involvement with the male/female that the other cared for…for a moment, Skull wanted to do it. And yet he read on, his eyebrows furrowing in thought as his eyes scanned line after line.
Then we had that fight, lets just call it a breakup, and he told me he slept with you and when, but never the how. You told me the how…I’m glad you did, I’m sorry I forced it out of you the way I did, but I was desperate. How could you share anything with him when he’d get sick at the mere mention of ******** a woman?, Harold nearly let the letter slip out of his hand his fingers could barely maintain their grip on the paper. Skull slowly shook his head in shame, a deeply rooted shame that pressed painfully against his chest like a sharpened blade. He did hate the idea of sleeping with women. Especially flirty women like Annabelle; they repulsed him to the point of nausea…but in his head, Billy was no ordinary woman. Though he hated the brunette at first, she told him about her sexuality, ideology, and the man began to understand her better. A woman who wanted to be a man, perhaps even ‘should’ have been a man, but was trapped in the form that her mother wanted most. Any person could understand that, especially a crazy person.
It was always him, Casey, and Billy watching cartoons together. Going to the movies, all those months after him and Casey broke up. In the past two years of knowing the brunette, he had seen how she tried to hide things from her raven-headed friend, from her parents when they happened to call, even from her brother Pino when he visited. He saw a person who cared more about others being happy then about themselves; and that was the exact opposite of his wretched little sister. Aside from the almost clone of the face he despised with every fathom of his being, Billy was a wonderful person. Casey would have to be blind not to see that.
The shame that pressed against his chest, was because there was a person that Skull had been lying to other than himself. He had lied to Casey, he just couldn’t accept it at the time. The night he learned that Casey and Billy had slept together, something in his brain snapped. Jealousy? Completely. Rage? In all certainty; but, at whom? Harold had given every impression of blaming that ugly brunette for stealing away his Casey when…it was quite the other way around. The idea of losing a friend he highly esteemed to his ex who couldn’t seem to commit or make up his mind? Yes Harold overreacted. He saw both Bella and Casey happily ever after without even considering his feelings on the matter, and he couldn’t bear the thought of being cast aside and forgotten by beautiful Billy. He wasn’t supposed to have been caught…she was supposed to think it was Casey; because, after all…they were going to be together whether Harold wanted it or not. For one night, he wanted to be Casey…and look at the mess he had made.
Heaven forbid he admit to a woman that he loved her. When the light flashed on Harold couldn’t do it, couldn’t even accept that what he felt to his own face. So he laughed and mocked her; said the most venomous lies he could think of. Perhaps he hoped it would keep her and Casey apart; but, given the situation mentioned about Iorwen catching them, he doubted he could possibly prevent such a thing from happening. You can’t stop fate Harold. All he could do was delay it for a while.
So Casey was asking to be allowed to stick around…after the mess he had helped to create. Folding up the letter, Casey gently tucked it into Billy’s pants pocket, and though she stirred in her sleep a little, she didn’t seem to notice anything out of the ordinary when she awoke. But Harold; he had stayed up for several hours more…admitting things to himself and pondering his mistakes with remorse. You should have told Casey you had feelings for Billy long before she left. Maybe the outcome would be different. Less violent screaming at each other, or cheating to get what we want. But the past was the past, and while Harold had confessed to Billy a great many things, he had yet to tell her exactly how long she had been dear to him; Mostly because he had been ashamed at his feelings, and secondly because he feared opening up and being vulnerable. But all that was going to change.
If Casey was going to make a declaration to Billy; then, he would damn well give one too. Skull didn’t expect a yes or not; but, he did hope to be able to tell the brunette everything he concealed, state his hopes and plans, and prove by written documents that unlike Casey he could actually support her. After all, it had been his shoulder that the brunette had been weeping against, and she hadn’t imagined Casey when they kissed in the closet that night at the party. Yes, she stopped because of her prior attachment, but that was something admirable. Something Casey hadn’t been able to do. When Billy said he loved him, time stopped. As much as it hurt his vow to hate women forever, Harold had not felt that passionately for Casey.
To be honest, Harold expected a tough competitor when he invited Casey to the Overlook for the weekend. Did he want Billy to make her decision without weighing both men and their declarations? No. That wouldn’t be right, and that wouldn’t be fair. Being in his right mind, he could not think of cheating his ex and denying him a fair chance. The choice was, after all, Billy’s to make.
Which was the very reason why Harold’s jaw dropped when Casey entered the room with an attractive Asian man. ‘ What the hell are you doing Case?!’, Did the man really think that making Bella jealous was the best course of action? After writing out that long letter of love to her? ‘ Here I expected a worthy opponent.’, Almost sneering in distaste but holding the expression back by biting his tongue, the hazel-eyed man took a fleeting glance at Billy. Who appeared confused, but happy to see that her friend was alright.
“ I made it!”, Casey said; looking far too happy for Skull to feel comfortable with. “ I came early though…Got stuck on the lifts and met this fellow here.”, Casey took a seat, and Harold was not the only one raising an eyebrow when the other man did not immediately sit down beside Casey.
“ This is Ma-”, Casey started, but the stranger finally spoke when Casey seemed to have forgotten the Asian fellow’s name.
“ Matoko…Mato works too if you really can’t remember.”, It could have just been Skull’s imagination; but, was there a twinge of flirtation in Matoko’s voice? Taking a fleeting glance towards Billy, the brunette looked back at him for a split second with a pained confusion gracing her features. ‘What?’ was a shared sentiment tonight, and the raven-haired man got the feeling that it was only going to get worse before they figured it out.
“ He’s the local karma specialist…”, Suddenly Matoko lightly shoved Casey’s side, and the touchy-feely nature made Harold raise an eyebrow. ‘ Awfully friendly aren’t you?’ “ How what’s that for?”
“ Now we’re even…”, Matoko stated somewhat seriously, and one quick glance at Billy suggested that the confusion was stronger that the pain that had begun to creep into her eyes for a moment.
“ Fine…Couldn’t you wait till after introductions?...Anyway…Lovely lady is Bella and that’s Harold,”, The man couldn’t help but send a subtle glare towards Casey for saying his horrible name in public to a complete stranger.
“ Skull for friends.”, The glare would have remained had the Asian fellow not turned to look at him just then. ‘ Skull for everyone you nitwit.’
“ Pleasure meeting you.”, Mato said with a respectful nod of the head that Harold found impossible to be mad at. Nodding his head in return, Skull sat up to try and hold out his hand to give the man a proper handshake when Casey leaned in close to whisper something into Mato’s ear, and it looked such like the old flirting Casey used to do with Skull that Harold’s hand lingered in mid-air longer than he wanted it too.
“ Nice to meet you too…”, What the hell was Casey doing? Glancing at his boyfriend, Billy looked rather pale and uncomfortable. Nay, she looked…upset, and Skull thought she had good reason to be. Just then; however, Brittney returned with that cheerful smile that begged for tips and promised good service. Setting the two hot chocolates down in front of him and Bella, Harold sent the woman a gentle nod of gratitude while Billy said a quiet ‘thank you’ that the waitress probably didn’t hear.
“ Here you are.”, Brittney turned towards the new guests at the table. “ Would you two care for anything to drink or are you all ready to order?”, One glance at Billy told him the woman was upset; but, she hid her eyes well and glanced down at her cocoa with a polite; but confused, expression. Thinking that ordering dinner would be appropriate to do at this moment instead of lingering on to let his boyfriend watch Casey flirt with another man, Harold began to order when he felt Billy’s hand roughly squeeze his hand for support under the table. Squeezing her hand back, Harold offered Brittney a little half smile.
“ I don’t know if they’re ready, but I’ll have the peppercorn steak, with the baked potatoe; rare.”, Skull had just begun to turn his head towards Billy when her hand clamped over his own so roughly that his knuckles began to throb in pain.
“ Is there a way to split that?”, Bella asked the waitress; who of course sent the brunette a hundred watt smile.
“ Of course, would you like to do that?”, Brittney barely had time to even look at Skull for approval before Bella squeezed Harold’s hand tighter; like a bird trying to escape from a cage.
“ Yes. Thank you.”, Bella’s hand seemed to ease up when Harold confirmed her request to the waitress; but, Harold continued to hold onto her hand under the table with the same strength as before. It seemed to stop the trembling that the man may have imagined Bella’s hand to be doing, and so he interlaced their fingers. ‘ Go ahead and try Casey. She might be too nice to scold you; but I’m not.’

((Maybe writing with Casey will help thaw Bella <3)) Lets first go back about half an hour shortly after our favourite little Casey and our newcomer Mato crashing into each other because of a slightly reckless race. While Makoto was wondering if he'd let his mind wander into more double edged Japanese while staring at the mountains Casey was dreading the idea of seeing Harold next to Bella. He was looking forward to far less than he was looking forward to toothache. Ever since Bella had her little confession Casey couldn't help but think about what happened around his back or what happened right under his nose. If he had any more spy skills he'd strap a camera to his abdomen simply to sate his curiosity, because there was only minor restraint that would be able to keep him from looking under the table to check if they'd be holding hands.
The more he thought about it the more he actually wanted a distraction and after half the walk to the hotel Casey turned on his heel to go back to the pleasant stranger. Not to stay with him -oh, no Casey wouldn't dream of missing out on being near Bella despite the nervous and suspicious sense he got these days- but to ask the male with him. As if Bella's confession hadn't been enough, the last week or so home had been like being locked up in an asylum with the harmless white mattress walls. Mostly because if the brunette would've been around, having no answer to his letter at all would've been less painfully forced upon him. Yet, Casey couldn't blame Bella not know he knew why her attention could be elsewhere. Casey just preferred it wasn't with that little monster that his mind had become progressively weary enough. This trip though... Was a good promise of distraction... Yet, Casey wasn't too willing to let allot of time pass before he got a straight answer out of Billy instead of that she was stunned by the beautiful letter but she couldn't do anything to Harold while he was weak or whatever. Besides... He could only pretend forgiveness for such a short time.
"Would you like it if I invited you to join me?" Casey was actually saying a little mantra in his head that he'd say yes. Probably hoping that this guy's believe in karma -which Casey personally considered a little silly- would make him say that. However his ears where slightly deafened on the initial answer. "No... No... I'd be lost amongst your friends" "No you wouldn't... I wouldn't be the fifth wheel for a change. Come... I insist." Casey's answer had come out a little faster than he had really wanted, but he didn't think that he was giving an impression that he didn't want to give. Besides what were the odds that you'd meet a Japanese foreigner that was gay. Of course Casey was glad to have positive response this time.
Now lets roll forward to the moment that we were actually at.
It seemed that Casey's slightly teasey comment got Makoto to shake Harold's hand. That or he was adjusting to the different manners than his own. Yet, Casey couldn't tell, but the head bow thing was slightly cute... Only slightly though. The bonus as predicted was that Casey really wasn't paying close attention to the two on the other side. Unfortunately... He didn't noticed Bella's distress.
“ Nice to meet you too…” Yes, be nice Harold... I need a break. though Casey slightly viscously and for the first time since he sat down he turned his eyes to Bella. She didn't noticed though because she was looking in some completely opposite direction. Casey hardly paid attention to the ordering bit, seeking eye contact with Bella, but not getting any. His attention was drawn away why he was sure Makoto was talking like an AK-47. As in akakakakakaka. The waitress didn't understand that, did she? Yet with a serious frown on her face later she recited something she had apparently been practising.
"Tea.... Jasmine tea and... Half of a medium steak? With a side of rice... You really have to stop making it harder, I can't keep up." Makoto had nodded on the intervals that the waitress had needed some certainty. How long had he really been here? Quite a while if he'd been teaching a waitress Japanese. "You're handling it just fine." The Asian reassured her and then Casey got the attention. "And for you?" The waitress questioned and Casey seemed flabbergasted for a moment and he was quite unsure of what to order. "Limonade and..." Casey paused for a while and fell back on an old save. "Whatever he's having" Casey said gesturing towards Harold and a second later he could facepalm himself. Stupid move "Also rare sir?" "No, medium..." Casey said with a little head shake turning his eyes to the table. Now he was avoiding direct eye contact for a moment.
((I think it's my duty to make you aware of this song... It's the dirtiest song I know and it isn't even as outright as some of the things I know... And... It helps write flirting as a Japanese character... as a matter of fact it gets dirtier the more I'm plucking at the lyrics hihi ^////////////^))

Quite unaware to Skull, Bella, Mato, and Casey; Fang (or Richard) Kempt walked into the lobby of the Overlook Hotel with a very uncomfortable expression on his face. Nay, if it was possible for the man to grimace more he would have. Because unfortunately for him, ‘Lord and Lady’ Kempt (though they were not actually nobility) had instructed the man to babysit his sister Emily. Who, at the moment, entered the hotel in a coat she purchased from Paris; a bright smile clairvoyant on her sinister face. ‘ Does this place really belong to our company? Ick…it needs a great deal of help.’ When she inherited the family credit card, this was one of the things she vowed to change. ‘ Pfft. Is that dust on the fireplace mantle?’ The raven-haired, younger, version of Bella glanced at her second eldest brother and socked him in the elbow with a gloved hand.
“ Fang. Where are we meeting Skull?”, Of course Richard neglected to tell his sibling that they weren’t actually invited to ‘visit’. He simply thought it would be comical to have the devil meet her twin. And so, when her brother just sneered as a response, she sneered and moved to whack her purse against him. But of course Fang was used to being abused, and walked to the lobby before the purse could hit him.
“ Eh; stop it b***h.”, You wretch! Emily walked faster to hit her brother with her handbag, quickly glancing behind her at the Overlook Employee who was carting their luggage inside.
“ Penthouse suite please.”, As Fang sneered in a nasty look towards Emily and walked to ask the counter where the eldest Kempt was staying, Emily gave the employee behind them a playful wink before handing the man a hundred dollar bill. ‘ hahaha this’ll teach him.’
“ Listen…If you don’t carry my brother’s luggage upstairs for him; I’ll give you this bill here.”, Flashing it around wasn’t necessary, but of course the man couldn’t just ‘not’ carry the bags…especially for someone of the Kempt family caliber. So the man compromised and kicked just one of Richard’s small bags off of the luggage cart and took Emily’s hundred dollar bill with a mischievous wink. That being troublesome enough of a reward, Emily glowed with satisfaction as she skipped to the counter and rang the golden bell for no reason whatsoever.
“ Ugh…Em; Stop that!”, Emily just replied by sticking her tongue at him before the lobby woman pointed in the general direction of the restaurant with an observant expression.
“ I think I saw Mr. Kempt and…you walk into the restaurant thirty minutes ago…”, The woman behind the counter appeared confused, and Emily responded with a look of equal confusion. As if someone was holding a nasty smelling cup under her nose. ‘ Look simpleton; I just got here…What the hell are you talking about?’ Assuming only that this was some obvious prank by Harold or Richard, Emily just snorted and walked towards the restaurant. ‘ What did her nametag say? Sarah? She’s fired.’, walking inside the wood-lined gateway with an irritated expression, the sixteen year old only had to glance around a little bit before seeing Casey (who she recognized from photographs) and the back of a raven head. ’ Oh this’ll be perfect! I’ll embarrass him in front of all his friends!’ Walking forward with a mischievous, snobby, grin; Emily attacked from behind!
Whack! The loud sound of the handbag colliding with the back of Skull’s head was largely due to the fact that Emily Kempt kept a brick in her purse. ‘ Sucker!’, Laughing hysterically, she would have laughed at Skull’s pissed off face if not for hearing a loud feminine gasp of worry and looking up to see a clone of her face! ‘ WoahHolyCrap!!!’, the designer handbag fell out of her hand and collided against the floor with a loud thud.
Watching her reflection lose skin color, a mutual reaction it seemed, Emily grimaced uncomfortably at the lout that stole her genetics. While the other looked quite shocked indeed, her face was far less malicious as the brunette blinked towards the raven-head. ‘ Harold…this is not funny…she’s wearing a mask. A really expensive Halloween mask…’
“ Who are you!?”, Emily couldn’t help but reach up with her gloved hands to touch her face to reassure herself that her own features remained the same.
“ Wh-why do you have my face?!...”, Suddenly the snobby little irchin started to bubble with a forced laugh as she looked to her brother who had just shouted ‘What the hell is wrong with you!’ for hitting him with a brick. In her shock, she hadn’t even noticed the angered face that she had desired to see.
“ Wh-”, Like hell that doppelganger was speaking first! Emily interrupted.
“ HA HA! VERY FUNNY! Okay. Take t-the mask off.”, now Bella looked scared, and she retracted by scooting in the booth as far towards the wall as her body could possibly go. Harold of course raised one half of his lip in a sneer of confusion, and in realizing her accusation was stupid, Emily sneered back.
“ C-come on, th-this isn’t funny!”, Skull made a noise very close to a growl and pinned Emily the nastiest look.
“ What are you doing here?”, What? As if the brunette having her face wasn’t scary enough, her eldest brother didn’t know she and Richard were here? Bah! Skull did this all the time.
“ Shut up Skull! You know exactly why we’re here.”, with that Emily shot the man an indignant scoff.
“ We?”, Harold didn’t have time to fully process that thought before Richard poked his gleeful little nose over the roof of the booth and gave everyone a devilish little wave.
“ Yes ‘we’.”, Emily scrunched up her nose in distaste before glancing at the person she ‘thought’ was Skull’s boyfriend with a confused expression. It may have just been her imagination, but he seemed too shocked or confused to know who she was or know what was going on. Surely this couldn’t have been an elaborate prank on her; from what she knew Casey sucked at lying.
“ You.”, Emily pointed at Casey; quite forgetting his name…or more really…having never taken the time to learn it. “ Shouldn’t you be sitting…over here…”, Emily then pointed to where her brunette clone was sitting and made a disgusted sneer at the Asian fellow from confusion. ‘ Whatever! I’m sick of this!’ Scoffing a loud ‘ugh’; Emily slipped out of her coat like it was gross and tossed it at Fang simply because he had a happy face.
“ Hold that; slime.”, Sending her eldest brother a big smile like she was the princess of the party, Emily just shoved her brother so he sat closer to Bella and sat down in the booth next to the oldest kempt.
“ Did everybody order? HEY WAITRESS! HELLO!”, Not waiting a moment, the girl started to wave like a little child until Brittney worriedly walked over with her notepad.
“ Yes?”, Emily knew what she wanted, so she wasted no time with small talk or niceties.
“ Salmon. Poached.”
“ Um; we don’t poach our sal-”, Emily shot the waitress a nasty look.
“ Do it or I’ll fire you.”, the waitress, not knowing that the Kempt Family owned the Hotel, started to chuckle as if that was funny before Emily just spoke again and ruined Brittney’s planned come-back.
“ I’ll scream.”, The waitress almost sneered (trying to restrain her emotions) when the manager of the restaurant rushed forward and whispered something in Brittney’s ear. Seeing the look of fear in the waitresses’ eye and counting it as a victory, Emily smiled and let out a celebratory giggle.
“ Yeah, I thought so…”. Feeling a strong jab to her side from a fork handle, Emily sneered at Skull in displeasure. The older man glaring at her in a wolf-like snarl.
“ Cut. It. Out.”, Like hell she ever listened to her brothers before, why on earth would Emily start doing it now? Emily scoffed as the manager gave Emily a very fearful look and bowed his head in apology.
“ I’m very sorry Ms. Kempt…please forgive Brittney here; she’s new…can I get you anything el-”, Like hell Emily wanted to waste time hearing apologies for failure.
“ Strawberry lemonade.”, It didn’t matter that they didn’t serve that until the spring, if Ms. Kempt wanted it now, the manager would do his best to fetch it for her. So as the older gentleman with the inquisitive mustache and Brittney rushed to the back rooms to speak horrible things about the heiress who would inherit nearly everything to the Kempt name, the girl smiled because they would be too scared to risk spitting in her food with all the cameras about the hotel. ‘ Putz. I get what I want.’, and picking up her purse from the floor, she tried to whack Fang in the face with it.
“ Will you quit standing there holding my coat and give it to one of the workers to hang up or something?”, Tossing her brother her hat, Emily looked at ‘Casey’ and his Asian friend (who seemed interesting indeed) and sent a smile that...‘almost’...looked sweet.
“ Hello strangers. How do you do? I’m Emily Kempt.”, and holding out her gloved hand with the expectation of having it shaken, the raven-haired girl didn’t even bother looking at Bella and saying ‘Hello’. As far as the freak was concerned, she didn’t exist.

The waitress had become something of an acquittance. Mostly because she had worked late on the days Makoto had struggled with jet-lag. That and sometimes he failed to properly translate what he meant and she'd bothered long enough to try and get him. The hardest thing about the language for Makoto was that everybody talked the same. Your boss turned equal, your wife just as brutal. There were subtleties playing in his mind that he couldn't bring to words and in turn he felt like he never expressed himself well enough. Especially when it came to sayings. The man had never heard of the notion of pearls for a swine. Though what he knew as the same was even more fitting for the situation he found himself in.
"Uhm... Sku-" Casey had obviously been more aware of the girl approaching than Makoto. Whack! Makoto lightly frowned at the gesture, the action and the sound combined reminding Makoto of past and far less pleasant times. Yet... Those were also times he had learned -despite not believing a word of it- that patience and forgiveness were the best two traits to sport. Though... Easy was something completely different.
When looking up the Asian was quite confused and thought for a moment that the girl that had been introduced as Bella was behind the loud thud. A quick glance her way revealed it to be something quite different, something that could almost be called a doppelgänger. The young girl herself obviously hadn't been aware of the presence of a woman with quite similar looks as her own. The display of the girl rambling on was quite hilarious to the Asian, who had to restrain his possible laughter into a cheeky little grin.
There was something off though. Nobody seemed to know who this girl -and the companion that soon joined them too- was, other than Harold who seemed terribly irritated. A glance to Casey gave the man a shrug and just as confused expression until...
“ You.” Casey actually looked for a second as if a gun had just been pointed at him, but he seemed to relax as the girl continued her addressing. “ Shouldn’t you be sitting…over here…” Now Makoto's brain got stuck in a little loop going over the fifth wheel statement and the statement that the girl just made. Didn't you make such assumptions when you thought two people were dating? But then why had he initially had that sense that Harold and Bella had something going on? Makoto you're just making wrong assumptions here... Remember... American's are weird and eat far more than is good for them. He was so deep into thought he hardly heard Casey attempt a reaction. "Oh, Y-" But he didn't get much further before the girl continued her vocal stampede and turned it to the waitress. He couldn't help but have a 'who do you think you are' thought at the rest of her little game. He wisely kept his mouth shut not to interject at any point that would get this woman's word gun pointed at him. Yet, it seemed that he was unlucky, since she eventually turned her attention to those who she considered strangers -excluding her doppelgänger.
“ Hello strangers. How do you do? I’m Emily Kempt.” "We were doing just fine, until reality decided to knock on the door." Casey interjected, obviously busy connecting his own dots and with a odd stare at Harold that would have far more meaning for the receiver than it had for Makoto. The Asian his own thought that was mostly based on how she acted like she already owned the place -the managers nervous behaviour being more than tell tale signs she had something to say here. Though she acted like a three year old about it and it made the Asian wonder if the family wasn't smarter and let -for example- her brother, a relation which mostly became obvious of how they acted like they knew each other for far too long, take charge in the future.
"I didn't think I'd meet a cat with gold coins today." Makoto interjected voicing his own thoughts on this awkward meeting and situation. It took him a few seconds to realize, but mostly because of the odd look he got from Casey he realized that cats weren't valued by his conversation partners in the same way he did. Makoto silently betted that another Japanese saying would be very true for this girl. If you'd feed a cat for three years and it would forget about the act after three days. The little realization of the existing language barrier sparked a small pleasant smile on the Asian's face.
Makoto even bothered with the curtsy of shaking the girl's hand. This time without Casey needing to make any teasing pushes. For once already the roles were inverted. "Rather than stranger I'd prefer it if you call me Makoto." He added during the little short-lived handshake.

“ We were doing just fine, until reality decided to knock on the door.”, Instantaneously, Emily’s eyebrows furrowed in an irksome confusion at Casey’s crude remark. ‘ What the hell does that mean?’, Still letting her ‘princess’ hand dangle in the air for the paupers, Emily’s mouth grimaced slightly before her smile resurfaced.
“ Excuse me?”, Chuckling like a little girl five years younger than she was, Emily was almost relieved with the foreign stranger spoke instead of Casey.
“ I didn’t think I’d meet a cat with gold coins today.”, Of course Emily didn’t understand the phrase, so she jokingly pawed the air and let out a poor imitation of a meow. Thankfully, the heiress didn’t notice the look on her doppelganger’s face, as the brunette thought she should be twelve years old for her selfish mannerisms. Shaking Makoto’s hand with a delicate squeeze, the ‘happy kitten’ seemed quite satisfied at the attention she was getting.
“ Rather than stranger, I’d prefer it if you call me Makoto.”, if it was possible for the girl to not bounce in excitement at meeting an oriental fellow, Emily certainly didn’t try very hard not to. Scrunching her face only slightly In the hopes of not forgetting the man’s unique name, the girl pursed her lip uncomfortably and tried to repeat it in the hopes of getting it right.
“ Mah-ko-ko?”, No that wasn’t it! “ Mah-koh-toe? ”, Thinking she aced that test, Emily started to do a happy little dance before finally noticing that Harold and Bella had hot chocolates in front of them. Not even contemplating whether or not this was appropriate, the sixteen-year-old took her brother’s hot chocolate and held it up against her mouth like it was already hers. Taking a long sip and giggling at the whipped cream mustache she hastily wiped away. Harold, of course, grimaced with a disgusted sneer and metaphorically washed his hands of the tainted beverage. Speaking of, the eldest Kempt remained quiet and composed before he saw his little sister picking up a spoon.
“ Gosh, they just don’t put enough whipped cream on these things; do they Mah-to-ko?—Excuse me!”,And reaching over with the spoon to try and steal some of Bella’s whipped cream, a fork suddenly appeared from out of nowhere and lightly jabbed the back of her hand.
“ OWW! What the hell Harold?!”, Without even the time to process, Emily’s elder brother shoved her out of the booth and it took considerable effort to balance her hot chocolate and not stumble as her older brother tugged her away from his friends.
“ Woah; Hey! Get your mitts off me! You’re gunna make me spill this! Hey; no!”, The –moment- they weren’t within hearing or visual distance, Richard scooted into the booth where Skull had been sitting and Emily sneered at the thief stealing her warm spot. ‘ That p***k! He’s getting chocolate in his hair; I swear it!’ Emily didn’t have time to contemplate much more before her arm was yanked harder. The pain in the action drawing Emily’s attention back to her elder brother.
“ I told you to cut it out Emily, or you can forget about a birthday present.”, Emily snorted a response. ‘ Yeah right! You would rip out my eyes and wrap them for me for a Christmas gift!’ completely forgetting about the rare ‘nice’ things that Harold wasted hundreds of his own money to purchase for her birthdays, Emily snarled in response.
“ What the hell is your problem? I’m not doing anything to embarrass you!”, Understatement of the year, but unfortunately the raven-head genuinely believed that she was innocent.
“ I said shut up. You don’t taste other people’s food or talk to my friends like that unless you want to be ignored all weekend.”, The thought of not receiving any attention was a strangely painful wound and it burned a hole in Emily’s chest. However, the last thing she wanted to do was to admit that she was a person with ‘feelings’, and so she just snorted like she had better places to be than here trying to steal scraps of attention from her brother.
“ Whatever.”, Emily began, before the continued fury on her brother’s face reminded her of the throbbing pain in her chest, and the girl’s accusatory spirit manifested itself in a detracting question.
“ Why are you so pissed off after inviting me here? Huh?! Who is that weirdo that has my face?! Did you just invite me here to humiliate me?!”, Oh…Harold didn’t think his sister needed any help to do that; but, of course the man didn’t say anything so cruel. The man did; however, appear quite confused. Like the notion of being with his sister was some horrible joke or prank that someone just pulled on him.
“ What? I didn’t invite you.”, Emily’s face tightened in anguish for the briefest of moments before she tried to scratch his face with her left hand. Skull was unfortunately too wise to not be prepared for Emily’s lash out, and so his hand trapped her wrist in the air and harshly threw it aside.
“ ******** style="color: black">”, Skull grimaced uncomfortably, sneered even, and looked towards the booth with an angered grudge. Skull then mumbled something under his breath towards Fang’s general direction; but, Emily couldn’t hear it clearly enough to understand the whisper. Whatever it was, Emily doubted it was anything even remotely decent. ‘ So that’s it. You didn’t invite me? You didn’t want to try and be friends with me after all these years? Well fine! I’m just going to bother you for the entire weekend! NO! BETTER! I’m calling MOM! See how you like mom and dad ruining your awesome adult plans!’, the silly thing didn’t know that the stated parents were already on their way to the hotel and would be arriving on Monday if the snowstorm didn’t keep them away from the mountain.
“ Listen. If you don’t want me near your friends, all you had to do was say so. Like I wanna be near that brown-haired b***h or your ******** boyfriend--”, As rage festered in her chest, Emily didn’t even get to finish her sentence before her elder brother squeezed her wrist so tightly that she had to suck in to not cry out in pain.
“ Let me go!!!”, the snarl that Emily got back was so malicious that the girl thought her brother might pick up a nearby vase and beat her over the head with it.
“ Casey isn’t my boyfriend anymore you little trollup.”, Emily’s eyes widening in surprise, the girl suddenly realized that the Asian fellow might be Casey’s new boyfriend. ‘ That would explain them sitting together…’, but hang on…since when aren’t they dating? ‘ Like your brother would waste the time to include you in his life.’ Pain surged through her chest, but nothing like the pain that came with Skull’s next little clarification.
“ That girl who just ‘happens’ to resemble you is my girlfriend Emily.”, The idea of her brother…having a proper girlfriend…it was a bit too powerful for her brain to grasp the concept of; and so she stared at Skull like a deer in headlights.
“ You will show her respect or you’ll never hear from me ever again. You got that? You’ll never get to torment or tease me, and we both know that’s the air you breathe.”, It seemed like there was more that her elder brother was going to threaten Emily with, and the girl waited for a devastating blow, but alas nothing happened. Her brother shoved her aside and headed back to the table. In any other light…Skull would have just said something cruel or threatening. ‘ He’s not blowing smoke…this isn’t a practical joke.’, Still processing things in her head, Emily walked to the table and was about to sit down when her eyes caught Bella’s face and she tried to make herself be respectful. Setting the cup down as if in preparation to sit again, the zombie version of Emily just blinked in horror before shaking her head in disbelief…
...
“ I um…feel very tired…I think I’ll go to bed now.”, What was it mother used to say? If you don’t have something nice; don’t say anything at all? Well, following that phrase like a mantra, Emily slowly walked out of the restaurant, and while Richard stared lasciviously at Bella without saying anything (which was creeping the brunette out considerably), the man knew that he would be in trouble if she went off on her own. Hearing footsteps behind her, Emily suddenly turned around and smacked Fang in the face the moment they were outside the restaurant.
“ You ******** lied to me!”, Fang hadn’t been smacked harder than could be managed, and so the beast of a boy snarled the Kempt family sneer and darkly chuckled.
“ Oh? What did I lie about ‘this time’?”, Emily scoffed and spat at him.’ Oh you know perfectly well!’, if it was socially acceptable to hiss, Emily would have done so.
“ You said Skull invited us! Did you know that freak-a-zoid is his girlfriend when you tricked me here!?”, Richard didn’t even respond, he just giggled hysterically in his throat. As if his little sister was the dumbest person on the planet. Frustrated and infuriated; Emily stomped her foot and smacked him again. Satisfied enough at the red spot throbbing on Fang’s cheek to take any further actions towards him.
“ It’s not funny! Y-y-you’re be-being a complete a*****e! I-I’m telling daddy!”, and Emily turned on her heel to head towards the lobby telephone before Fang quit being a hyena and grabbed his sister’s wrist.
“ God, what crawled in your a** and died today?”, Making a disgusted face, Emily just scoffed at the stupid comment. Of course this was Fang’s doing! Immature little man-whore that he was couldn’t take anything seriously. Strangely, though, her older brother tugged on Emily’s wrist so that she was forced closer to him before pressing his mouth very close against her ear to speak softly and not be overheard.
“ Come on now…surely you know why I brought you here. Skull imagines himself in love with that freak-a-zoid. Look at where we are. A romantic resort in the mountains? Our brother talking to dad to get a job in the company?”, Emily’s eyes widened in shock. Harold hated their parents, and some thought him right to do so. ‘ No this can’t be. Skull wouldn’t put himself through torment by going into real estate with Dad! No way in hell! Those were his words exactly!’ Emily’s brain not picking up on the pieces in fear of the dread that began to chill her heart, Emily closed her eyes and waited for the blow she imagined was on its way towards her.
“ Our brother plans on proposing.”, Emily’s face turned green. ‘ Proposing?! To that fat simpleton that stole my face?!’ no! it had to be a disgusting lie! And yet…her brother was acting very odd, very serious…Richard had to be right. They had to stop him. ‘ Like you can make Skull do anything. If he wants to marry some girl, mother and father wouldn’t be able to change his mind either.’, shaking her head repeatedly in a subconscious movement from shock, Emily just shirked her hand away from her elder brother and tried not to vomit on her boots.
“ Skull needs to go back to the loony bin. That’s what he needs.”, without another word on the subject, Emily started to walk towards her room and turned around angrily when Fang made efforts to follow.
“ Ugh. Leave me alone! I’m too grossed out to look at you!”, with that, the girl walked into an elevator, and headed towards her penthouse suite.

─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ There wasn't much more of interest that happened after the queen and the devil disappeared. Most voted that they had lost any appetite they had and Casey tried to get some sort of contact with Bella, but despite the short moment of eye contact when Richard was eyeing her Casey did have much success. That and frankly he was being distracted by a certain Asian male that was developing a certain infatuation for the raven head.
Now the next day nothing much happened either Casey had taken to the slopes and Makoto had taken to some privacy with manga. By the evening however an uninvited guest appeared on the stage. The pixie blonde had heard of the little invitation-o-round by mere chance. She had actually picked it up from Einian, the Mohawk man she vowed never to treat friendly again like every fling she had. As a matter of fact she didn't want to settle. So she avoided going for any man she might actually like. Heaven forbid that she'd get clingy.
She followed up on the hotel not because she was still interested in Harold, -no he was too troublesome for only a small reward- but because winter break tended to be the most boring time of the year for her. She had arrived there around noon and hadn't been noticed by the people that actually know her so far. Nor had she drawn any attention from the little queen lady. By the time that it was evening she had taken to drinking the cheapest beer she could get at the bar straight from the bottle and catching up on her studies. Though she did mind to hide the fact that book was on laws, because in the past she had gotten weird comments because people realized she was actually studying to become a lawyer.
It wasn't because she was sleeping around that she wasn't smart enough to b***h in a courtroom.

Quite unaware of a pixie blonde’s existence when he walked into the bar, Fang took a fleeting glance over his shoulder as his hands slowly curled into his pockets. Alas, the man had finally outsmarted the little devil known as Emily. Having been escorting his sister through the hedge maze for the past hour and a half, Fang saw an opportunity to flee and convinced his sister that it would be better off for them to compete to see who reached the end of the maze first. Naturally, once his sister was gone Fang rushed off to the entrance and headed back inside where it was warm. It wasn’t like he was leaving his sister in a dangerous place, and anyone would be able to see the humor in his actions. At least, Harold usually would. ‘ His head just isn’t screwed on tight.’
Not wishing to spend all of his weekend plotting away on how to demolish his elder brother’s refurbished throne, Fang walked up to the bartender (who knew his face and name by heart it seemed) and gave the man a subtle sneer as his eyes glazed over the drink selection. Choosing, by happenstance alone, the very same beer that the pixie lawyer had chosen just thirty minutes earlier; the second eldest Kempt brother bit down on his lip and turned around to survey the ‘variety’ in the room. Sadly, there were not too many choices that seemed appealing to the man, the blond next to him; though having a perfect body, was wearing the most childish outfit he had seen since yesterday.
“ Here you are Fang.”, Spoke the bartender, and without looking around to observe where ‘his’ bottle was placed, Richard clasped Annabelle’s cheap beer and walked off towards a corner table before realizing that the bottle in his hands was half empty. ‘ Did Charlie dump half of it?’, Taking just one look at the bottle in his hands to notice the obvious lipstick stain, Fang gave a sour chuckle towards himself before walking back to the pixie girl and setting the bottle down beside her book before trying to grab the other bottle. Wishing to not be completely rude (since there was something about the woman’s wild hair that gave him the impression that she was a hostile woman), Fang sent an almost fake smile and tilted his head slightly.
“ Did your friends not make it? Or is there simply nothing else to do?”, Gesturing towards her book, Fang walked away to prove his disinterest in the subject; his right hand clutching his ‘own’ bottle of beer. Now, the average ‘strait’ man might have thought of such a clever tactic to have a reason to converse with a pretty woman. Fang; however, simply ordered the lowest item on the drink menu because he was stingy. Even with having carpets of dollar bills in his bank account, the man did not relish the idea of spending money on things that were not important.

─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ “ Here you are Fang.”
Annabelle hardly paid attention t her surroundings as she was skimming over the basic principles of civil rights and the like. Her hand lightly however above her bottle ready to grasp said bottle when she needed a good chug of drink to go with the dreary reading material she hadn't consulted once during the school semester. She was sure she wasn't the only one in this sort of position now, because she knew there were people out there that frequented parties at least as much as she did... And that was allot.
However, when she tried to grab her bottle she found it gone and a full one a good way away from here that definitely wasn't hers. With a glare on her face she turned around to look for the whereabouts of her own bottle. She found it in the hands of a foolish man looking at it with something that looked like disgust. <********!? He'd better not be drinking from my bottle! She thought with a fiery little lash in her mind. As a result she lightly glared when the guy returned her drink and took the one that was intended for him.
“ Did your friends not make it? Or is there simply nothing else to do?” Wait what? What happened to 'Sorry my bad?' or other excuses? He did just dare to steal her drink! With another quick chug on her bottle she downed as much of it as she could in one go before turning to the bartender.
"Glass of water." She commanded far more unfriendly then her first order had been. Luckily the bartender didn't seem to mind the tone and gave her what she asked for. He seemed about to say something, but she waved it away as she stood up -with glass and book- and went after this 'Fang' guy.
"This here.." She started lifting up the book and waving it to grab his attention and fix it on the book and not the glass of water. "Is the perfect weapon..." As she was saying that she flung the water into the guys face. "To distract the idiot that dared to steal my drink! Whatever happened to 'sorry'?!" She left time for the guy to answer for himself or complain or whatever he did. In the mean time she was slowly realizing she was probably offending a pretty <******** face.

Observing the room from his little corner of happiness, Fang brought the bottle of cheap beer to his lips and took a hearty swig from it. Not expecting the girl to notice him, given how ‘studious’ girls tended to think he was beneath their company, Fang raised an inquisitive eyebrow when she asked Charlie for something and the man handed her some tap water. She’s going to splash you. Move. It was only a hunch, but just in case, the man peeled his phone out of his pocket and tossed it on the floor beneath his arm-chair.
“ This here.”, Like a moth to the flame, Fang’s attention lay therein on her law book. At first he thought it was simple recreational reading; but, there he saw the title clear as day when she waved it about in front of his face. ‘ Ha; I just peeved a first class b***h.’ Maybe she would be hitting him with the book after all…
“ Is the perfect weapon…”, Something seemed fishy; but, Fang didn’t think that fish would be himself! Barely having time to see the water splash into his face, the fluid drenched down his neck to soak his shirt, and the cold left the man with an expression resembling confusion for the briefest of moments. Once his mind registered that he was wet; however, his face curled in an amused little grin.
“ To distract the idiot that dared to steal my drink! Whatever happened to ‘sorry’?!”, It took considerable effort not to smirk at her efforts to embarrass herself, so Fang didn’t try to. He just stood from his chair and tilted his head to give the woman a mock serious look.
“ Trust me…If I drank after you; I’d be real sorry.”, Assuming that the book would collide with his head and side-stepping preemptively, Fang looked down at his wet shirt and started to unbutton the buttons. ‘ I don’t have to justify myself, I didn’t steal her drink, just accidentally burrowed it.’
“ But if you wanted my shirt off, you have very clever tactics.”, Expecting any decent lady to just scoff with contempt for him saying such a thing, Fang just peeled the wet shirt from his body and nimbly tossed it towards the pixie blonde.

─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ Okay... He didn't shout... He just stood up with that stupid smirk on his face. Yeah rifght stupid you like that Her brain scolded her and she lightly wrinkled her nose.
“ Trust me…If I drank after you; I’d be real sorry.” Now she was confused there for a minute and only frowned a little and didn't lash out with her heavy book as he seemed to expect. Damn... He must be used to getting pestered... There goes my best pants of tactic. Well if she had set out to get in his she would've tossed her sweater. Bad impressions you see... Talking of upper body clothing he was actually unbuttoning his shirt and Anna found herself biting the inside of her lip.
damn libido... to easily enticed...
“ But if you wanted my shirt off, you have very clever tactics.” She didn't exactly set out for that result -more something along the lines of pissed- but she didn't quite mind this result either. Not bad... did I have to start with the water? Yes duh!
She didn't even mind getting a hold of his shirt and made a hell of allot sure she had a hold of it, because he wasn't going to get it back any time soon. "Wow... How easy do you get out of your pants?" She questioned a lightly mischievous and pleased grin on her face.

It was general knowledge to a man who enjoyed sleeping around that men and women made different faces when they wanted him. Sometimes that face resembled the expression a puppy made while their owner wiggled a treat in the air. Having expected contempt, the pixie blonde suddenly seemed to light up with interest as if his wet shirt had been the treat. Sure enough, the pixie’s face seemed to take on an almost naughty glow, and the man couldn’t help but respond with an impish smirk.
“ Wow… How easy do you get out of your pants?”, Ah, a question he could answer without sarcasm; his grin broadened considerably as he breathed in and out in an unintentional way at displaying his physique.
“ Mmm, that depends on how much water you carry.”, and leaning in since he knew that the woman liked what she was looking at; Fang subtly poked his tongue in a gentle scrape against her earlobe to entice her. One quick glance towards the bartender told him that he would be in serious trouble for remaining topless in public, and with a little sigh he realized that some things didn’t change…even if his family did own the hotel.
“ But something tells me you’re wet already…”, Sure enough, he didn’t even have time to finish teasing the pretty little pixie before the bartender cleared his throat and pinned his eye on Fang.
“ Excuse me, sir, but if you aren’t going to dress appropriately, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”, Such a pity; but, Fang would be here for three more days. He planned on teasing her exceedingly. ******** right this moment? No, it was far too soon to properly please a woman. Women needed to wait in expectation, let their bodies warm up and fantasize. It made the experience more enjoyable to both parties, and of course this Kempt was as selfish as the rest of them.
“ Oh alright Charlie…I’ll go get ‘dressed’.”, Leaning away from the pixie with a mock pout, Fang’s mouth curled into a naughty smirk again as he gave the woman a subtle wink.
“ I guess if you want me naked; you’ll have to carry a water bottle around with you.”, That being his final flirt on the matter, Fang completely forgot his cell phone as he undid his pants button and walked out of the bar towards the elevators.

─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ ─ Ah, Annie liked what she saw. He didn't even need to show of his physique to get anymore of her attention. Her smirk even widend enough to show some teeth. Who knew she'd get an easy ******** just by coming here? Hell, she didn't even expect a flirt after the water. Little did she knew that this one was going to make her fight for it.
“ Mmm, that depends on how much water you carry.” Her hopes were up already -yes, she is that easy- and she had to restrain a giggle that would've come up when he licked her ear. Heaven forbid she'd show sings of liking his style more than she'd allow herself to. Now was not the time for it. Yet, she would drag him to a pool if he seemed any more serious about the bottle of water.
“ But something tells me you’re wet already…” Oh, did she like this sort of talk. If the lick hadn't gotten her wet then certainly the suggestion did. Hell part of her mind was fantasising about the positions he would put her through. Half the men she men she had had didn't even have mind to speak such smut.
“ Excuse me, sir, but if you aren’t going to dress appropriately, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” Annabelle grimaced when she heard the bartender much in 'did you have to ruin the moment?' way.
“ Oh alright Charlie…I’ll go get ‘dressed’.” One eyebrow on her face subtly raised when he said that. So this was the point where thing were being moved? She was slightly pouting too, but not as much in a disappointed way. More in a 'what is next?' way especially with her one inquisitive eyebrow.
“ I guess if you want me naked; you’ll have to carry a water bottle around with you.” Maybe not. She noted in her head when she spotted the little button undoing. No way she was going to just stand there when he walked away. Almost nimbly she slipped out of her sweater adding it to the pile she was already holding -which was book, his shirt and now her sweater. She quickly followed catching up with ease and only making a stop near the reception to drop of the pile -because that definitely wasn't handy for a good and decent flirt.
She caught up with him and frankly she wasn't any colder, not by a long shot. Hell she was feeling quite hot under the collar. Coming to the elevator she pressed a button to call for an elevator and somehow there was one already waiting for them. Empty... too. Without much hesitation she started pushing and shoving him towards and into the elevator and she nibbed his neck while she did that.
Once in and with Fang slightly cornered she pressed every button available -exception of the penthouse floor because that needed a card. Sure there were quite a few floors but while she did that she bit his jaw in different places in an attempt to make clear that she wasn't going to take no for an answer... Not any more...
"I hope for you that your floor is high up... But you're going to tell me when we're there." She grinned like a little devil keeping him cornered between one arm and her other that was just finishing up on those buttons. The doors closed and this little game could begin.

[New polyvore...Harold bought Bella a sweater. >.>;]
Meanwhile, a few floors closer to ground level, Bella gazed out of a floor-to-ceiling window that showcased the snowy peaks; her eyes heavy laden with worry. Several days ago, Casey had written his heart out and Bella had read and re-read that paper so much that it seemed like her fingerprints were permanently etched beside the penmanship. ‘You can’t keep him waiting,’ and with seeing that asian fellow Matoko there with Casey the previous evening…she knew she couldn’t put it off anymore. Seeing the flirtatious nature between those two, and being able to plainly see the attraction in Mato’s eyes; well, if Casey was intentionally trying to make her jealous…it was working. ‘ I’m not going to keep watching them flirt! If he wants an answer; he’ll get an answer!’, That was Bella’s thought on the matter…and she would have told Casey hours before…
Except…
With Bella being a pregnant miss, it was deeply frowned upon for her to use the ski-lift, especially since she couldn’t ski without risking a miscarriage. Sadly Harold had forbade her to go, and seeing as Casey insisted on being on the slopes…she asked Harold to go fetch him. That was hours ago, and now she was less worried about her talk with Casey…and more worried about the condition of her technical boyfriend. ‘ Even if he didn’t want us to talk, he could have come back with an excuse! That’s what he would do!’, She hadn’t seen or heard from Skull, and his…long absence…it wasn’t like him. Worriedly pacing back and forth for the past hour, the brunette finally stood to press her nose against the cold window glass. Casey should have been back by then…right?
Terrified that something awful happened on the slopes, or that both men were unconscious or dying in the wilderness, Bella was about to debate going to the local rangers and starting a search when a familiar voice distracted her attention in numerous ways. Turning around to see her younger brother Pino, Bella felt both overjoyed and strained. Thankfully, she did not show very much…but she had yet to tell her family that she was pregnant, and the last thing she wanted to do was worry or ruin her little brother’s visit. ‘ Pino doesn’t own a car…Dad wouldn’t drive him this far away!’, Pain began to envelope the woman…for having forgotten that her father was deceased…however, she refused to be even more gloomy than she already was, and embracing her brother without a second thought, Bella gasped at how strong her brother had gotten. For being nearly choked in a bear-hug, her face maintained a cheerful smile.
“ Pino! What are you doing here silly goose?!”, Pino clung to bella like there was maple syrup between them and slowly pulled away with a chuckle of relief.
“ Looking for you of course! Mom said you were vacationing here instead of coming home for Christmas, and I came here to fetch ya! No more worrying about money problems again!”, Pino was just so cheerful…’ It wasn’t because of lack of money…’, Bella rambled in ashamed head. Having made up an excuse to prevent her mom from finding out about the baby, she didn’t think anyone would spend so much money to come up here and see her. The plan had been suggested as a solution by Skull, and once again the brunette was grateful. Missing that once painted fellow too much to feel comforted by her brother’s presence, Bella bit down on her lip before trying to chuckle.
“ Oh that’s great! But Pino, we all already got rooms for tonight. ”, The boy laughed slightly and scratched the back of his head in an obvious display of worry. Strangely…Bella got the idea that her brother had come here with a plan…or there was something Pino wasn’t telling her.
“ P-pino…did you…drive yourself?...”, If so…that boy was in so much trouble! Taking mom’s car!? The last thing Bella wanted right now was to be guilt tripped into visiting her family for Christmas, and now it seemed she wouldn’t have much choice in the matter. ‘ How the hell am I supposed to go home without Skull!? If he knew I was…too ashamed…to tell mom we’re dating…and that I’m pregnant..’, Not willing to face that unless she had to, Bella let her worried eyes glaze over her brother’s expression as his face sunk lower and lower.
“ I…um…no! No. I…got a ride…here…”, At this the worry in Bella’s chest began to merge into a sensation of outrage.
“ From who?”, Please don’t say Jack. Jack happened to be the neighborhood hooligan who always got himself into trouble. Mainly drug trouble. Pino was unfortunately the gullible sort who had been ‘guilty by association’ several times. Fearful of her brother being caught in yet another tangled web, Bella started to rub her temples when her brother finally spoke.
“ …Sarah…”, It was a good thing that his sister wasn’t holding onto anything; because if she had been carrying something chances were she would have dropped it. Sarah Whittle, was Bella’s high-school girlfriend. She was an exchange student from Maine, and with the raven-head sitting all alone at the lunch table for a few weeks, Bella took it on herself to make friends…that developed into a strong friendship…which led to some heated kisses when they were snuggling in her room. Bella’s mother had NOT been happy to walk into that little scene, much less accept that their daughter was lesbian. However, in the three years that they were always together (outside of hanging with Casey her best friend forever), Sarah’s mom was seen less and less. Bella didn’t know that Mrs. Whittle had leukemia until it was too late. Sarah’s dad was in such a state of shock that he moved back to Maine. With Sarah being under eighteen at the time…she went with him.
As much as she tried to keep up contact, Sarah seemed to be withdrawing from herself…and the calls were few and far-between…until they finally stopped calling each other. It was events such as that one that perhaps buried Bella’s heart into it’s stoic state, and like Casey with his problems…Bella just locked her own grief from her father’s death inside her heart, and refused to face it until she was ready to do so. Sarah being in town…a person she still deeply cared for…Well; Bella couldn’t help but wonder why the woman was here. Much less be able to spend money to drive her little brother here. Unable to keep the pain from showing on her face, Bella looked away at a loss for words. Unlike Casey, Bella had confessed everything that was kept secret to Sarah…and as unwilling as she was to admit it; Bella still felt the sting from their parting like her heart had been pierced yesterday.
“ She...she wanted to talk to you, said it was important…”, Suddenly her brother’s eyes welled up in worry and fear; and Bella knew she had made a face that scared him. Shock kept her tongue from feeling loose enough to form words in which to communicate with her brother, and in the few moments it took to get her tongue untied, Pino started to ramble and apologize.
“ I t-told her you might not want to s-see her; but---”, Even with thinking through a fog, the idea of her brother telling her lost love that she wouldn’t want to see her hurt like a punch to the face. Snapping her hand far more quickly than she thought she was, Bella ended up almost smacking her brother instead of just grabbing his shoulder. In the crossfire, Pino realized he had said something wrong and did the smart thing by shutting up.
“ You told her what?! Why would you say such a thing! You know I--” Love her. Her mouth stumbling in shock of what she almost confessed to her brother; Bella stopped dead in her tracks and gently released her hand from his shoulder. In the past few months, Bella has been so confused and conflicted with her strong feelings for Casey and Harold that it was like she had completely forgotten Sarah in the running. Pain throbbed in the brunette’s chest in anguish and remorse. How could she have…forgotten...someone so dear to her? ‘ Maybe cause she stopped calling…and it felt like she forgot about me.’ That was one part of why Casey not calling hurt so much…she just hadn’t noticed it until now…Casey was another person that meant the world to her, and she felt like she had been forgotten all over again. Of course Bella wasn’t willing to talk about personal things with her little brother. She loved the guppy, but they weren’t that close…and she didn’t want them to be.
“ I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…I--”, Letting out a sigh of defeat at her brother rambling on and on, Bella shook her head to try and convince Pino to stop blubbering.
“ Its okay Pino…”, Bella began to say…but then it occurred to her…if Pino was here, and Sarah wanted to talk to her…then where was she?
“ Where…where is she?” Glancing around with a nervous nibble against her lip, Bella tried to peer around decorative plants to see her; but, alas, no raven-haired girl could be found. A little worried that her old girlfriend wanted to talk about something –very- important…or bad…the brunette looked at her little brother in the hopes that his eyes would be optimistic. Thankfully they were, and he smiled with a light chuckle.
“ Well this hotel is huge… We split up to look for you. She said she would try your room and the café, so--”, Pino tried to tug on Bella’s hand to encourage her to follow him; and it felt like her body was being moved without her consent as she walked with him. “—we could try there first and--”, It was absolutely necessary to speak up now, before her concern for Sarah washed away the stronger concern for Harold and Casey’s well-being.
“ Wait Pino.”, The teenager stopped with a quizzical expression.
“ Casey and a…friend of mine…went up to the slopes a few hours ago…they haven’t come back yet Pino…and I don’t think I should see Sarah when I’m worried like this.”, Pino’s eyes welled up in horror at the thought of Cool Casey stuck up there on the mountain…one glance out the window told the teen that it was snowing even with it being dark outside. If they hurried; they could reach the lift before they shut things down for the night.
“ Oh no! Is Casey okay?”, That being the dumbest question in the world, Bella refused to answer it; she just tugged on Pino’s hand and walked towards the door. Knowing she was breaking some unwritten rule in risking her baby’s safety to look for them, Pino didn’t know she was expecting; and thereby…she wouldn’t feel guilty for tagging along with him.
“ I hope so Pino…I really hope so…”
