But he did hear stories of kunoichi doing terrifying, wondrous things. Pressure then, maybe? She was, after all, under the obligation of her family...her clan...to take the same path as generations of the family had. He couldn't imagine that kind of pressure: even for his own life, though it had always been decided, the path was always simple and clear to him. It was because he excelled intellectually: he could foresee no roads of failure from a sure path of success. For her, he supposed she had more...variables... Could growing up in such a place even be called a family?

He didn't know much about the concept of clans, but from the times he visited the Fubuki's northern estate with his friend and classmate Nero, he noticed how there was a very rigid order of hierarchy there. Granted, he also knew a few things about Kiri, such as the fact that the Fubuki were practically shinobi aristocrats. But for a group of similar people to band together for a clan, what's even stronger than certain traits would be certain traditions...and if the strict traditions of Fubuki Ichizoku was anything to go by... He could imagine the kind of pressures she would be facing.

Then mentally, she couldn't handle it. Loss was unacceptable in the shinobi world... And she had lost to him. Even though clearly, by logic... Wasn't that species of thinking... Kind of stupid? Without loss, there is no movement. There would be no progress, and a person's growth would be uncharacteristically stilted. As bitter as loss would be, it is medicine... He sighed to himself again, feeling a headache growing.

Yep, a migraine was definitely coming. Perhaps he was giving to much thought - and credit - to this Myaku Tebiki. Maybe it was just her personality, and that she hated to lose. As young as she was, it was only natural for her to feel that way. Not wanting to lose was fine: he disliked losing too. Granted, if he lost he would not be such a brat about it... He would just think of ways to improve himself. However, it really was each to their own. Maybe in a few years she would get over such tantrums. And until then, even then, she wasn't really his business or concern. Kiri was big. He probably wouldn't even see her again. They were only passing acquaintances - even that much would be a stretch to say - and compared to the influx of people in the future he was sure to meet... This is probably only a trivial meeting.

Besides. If he was really going to the theorem about pressures and what not... Then maybe he had let the words of the old geezers affect him more than he was willing to admit. He frowned to himself at this thought: what was it that he wants from this proposal? What is it exactly that he desires from Kirigakure? He thought it was pretty obvious, to win his parents' freedom. But when he thought more carefully about it... Sure, he misses them, but he has questions he wanted to ask his father too. Like, for example, why his father chose to act stupidly for the sake of a better cut of profits and work with an usurping Kage when there was not even any confirmation that the woman would for certain be able to hold her seat. Civilian or not, shouldn't his father know better?

The people of Kirigakure were vicious and proud. It's not within their nature to accept a leader they themselves had not picked.

Thinking back, as she continued to pick up shell after shell, she couldn't figure out how the hell she was misinterpreted in the first place. What was it? He said something about how her comment was making fun of him? All she said was to look on the bright side... because if she hadn't been paying attention she would have fallen on top of him again... and she didn't want him to get pissed at her like he did back in the forest. Because that was dumb. Yay for a blunt and limited vocabulary. How the hell could he think that I was making fun of him... I wasn't even smiling. I sure as hell didn't laugh. If someone had said the same to be, at worst i would be all "Gee, thanks." but I wouldn't go out and just throw stuff at people. She couldn't call what he did throwing a fit, because while there was throwing involved, it wasn't a big, loud, fuss. It was more like... well snapping fingers. Thinking more on it... did what she said just cause something in him to snap, or whatever, and what he did was simply out of reflex? That didn't excuse it, not in the slightest... but could that have been it? The entire time, she'd focused solely on what she thought was his intent to hurt her for some thing she wasn't aware of... She reacted, in her mind, appropriately by returning that intent.

Shell Ball!
It's all his fault, he totally started it! What had she done? He couldn't even admit he was over-reacting.

Thoughts aside on the questions he has for his parents... It was indeed increasingly becoming a question he cannot ignore, the question of just what he was going to do with his life from this point on. Granted, once upon a time his path was set in stone... He was going to become a merchant like his father, inherit his father's trading company, and with his abilities would've excelled very well in that field. However, the events of this year had thrown his life into unpredictable chaos. He didn't want to graduate because, simply, he had no great desire to discover what further chaos it would become only from the point after the Academy. He couldn't understand therefore the pride of these shinobi in what they do... Or could it be called simply the pride of a soldier in defending their home? None of the Fubukis he met exhibited any qualm about their destined way of life.

Nor had Myaku Tebiki.

Whomever from his family he inherited this blood from... He decided, that was the person he wanted to ask the question of "why". It couldn't have been coincidental... A shinobi whom he had inherited the ability from purposefully married with a civilian. But why would he or she chose to direct away from the path? If the beliefs of Fubuki Ichizoku - and Myaku Ichizoku - seem so effective on these people as children, just what exactly - when exactly - did the beliefs began losing conviction? And when would those of clans go astray? It certainly was not mental destability at the first kill... Fubuki Kira, Lady Hatsuyuki's cousin, was a Jounin of the village. By his rank alone, it would insinuate a number of things about the young man (who was his own age!) and yet, Inori could not tell anything different between Fubuki Kira and himself.

Fubuki Kira joked, laughed, obviously cared about his mistress, the princess, and was every bit as human as one could be. Not the kind of murderous monster he was expecting a shinobi to be. Nothing was adding up. It amply didn't make sense, and struggle as he might to try and understand, he finds himself growing increasingly confounded.

Perhaps he should just try and meet with the princess again... To, well, ask the Lady Hatsuyuki some questions. He couldn't see any other, better way of going about this...what to call this anyways...? An inquisition? A path towards self-discovery? Look at him, he wasn't even a shinobi... And he was trying to find out what a nindo was. Wasn't that something people really serious about this path would do? What a joke of a thought, huh? But for some reason, the thought itself didn't exactly sound hollowly silly in his mind... There was a certain severity to the thought that gave it weight, that made him even uncomfortable. It was something that made his gut clench - out of nervousness? No, it wasn't nervousness. It was anticipation. Anticipation out of wanting to find something out...of wanting to learn more about this path... As if just that little bit of knowledge can clear the storm of his feelings more.

Deny it as he wished to, but there was no mistaking it. While fighting that girl - Myaku Tebiki - every cell of his body hammered with the taste of battle. And his heart in his chest, it felt that vicious enjoyment would be enough to break open his ribcage with the sheer force of the feeling alone. And as averse as he was to truly harming her, his blood sung with every thrumming moment of combat. It didn't matter that she had showed him kindness in the grove. It didn't even matter that she was a girl. All that mattered was that she could possibly provide some form of challenge - of entertainment - did this manner of thinking perhaps even make him seriously sick in a way? What if, just as his blood had recognized today... What if he was meant for this path?

What would he do then?

His eyes, suddenly feeling dry from staying so long open against the sea wind, blinked once, twice, and then more slowly lowered. He realized they kind of stung now (did he remain unblinking for that long, lost so in thought?) and the slow retreat from the confines of mind with the discomfort made him realize that his whole body also kind of ached with effort. Inori frowned, the unhappy expression curving his lips: though he was still considered at the bare maximum age to attend the Academy, there was no doubt that he, being not as young as the other students, wash't as lithely flexible. With a soft grunt, he uncrossed his legs, before he allowed himself to fall back onto the sand, not caring anymore that it wove into his hair or clothes. It was the best and easiest way to relax all his tense muscles. And so, he just laid there on the beach, beneath the afternoon sun, resting.

Fairy quickly, he lost track of time. It wasn't until quite late, when his stomach rumbled, and hunger stirred him to stand up and get moving again that he roused from the daze. As he got up, grains of sand slipped from the folds of his clothes like water, and ignoring the abrasive feeling, Inori settled off to a slow trek for the village. He'll have to figure something out for dinner and then... He'll think about what to do for the rest of the evening afterwards.

Tebiki crouched down and ran her fingers through the sand in mild contemplation. Every once in a while, the waves would reach her and gently lap at her shoes and smooth out whatever shallow gauges she made in the sifty material. She knew that if she ever wanted a real answer about a person's attitude or their reasoning for certain reactions, she would have to ask the specific person... However, that would only cause more conflict, and she was sure that while her tempered had lowered a great deal since she'd walked away, she had a habit of flaring it up again. In essence, seeing the object of her displeasure was sure to make things worse. As she rolled her eyes at her own subborn tendencies, she flicked pieces of broken shell about the size of her finger nail into the newest wave that crept up on her feet. Another thing she was honestly confused about, though, which she hoped she could ask an older and wiser shinobi about, that wasn't in her family, is what was the whole issue with pride? She would admit, she'd made thoughts or comments about it in the past about pride being a bad thing at times, most recently a certain person's "man pride", but she had her own pride as well, what that same certain person called her "shinobi pride." Where was the line between its good and bad, if there was any at all.

Shinzu walked quietly along the beach, his hands in his pockets, jsut kind of looking out into the ocean. With the Chuunin Exams over he didn't have much to do, unlike Batsu and Gennosuke. They were going to be screened by the Medical Corps, Shinzu on the otherhand hadn't really even looked into any of the branches yet. Well he'd looked a little into the Police Corps, but felt like that would link him solely to Kiri, and he still had the urge to travel. His brief trip to pick up the Otokage hadn't done too much to sate his urge to travel. So here he was walking along the beach, staring out into the ocean that had served as Kiri's guardian for centuries. "I act too old for my age..." He said with a sigh as he walked by a kid, who edvidently liked the sand of the beach. "Hey what are you doing here, shouldn't you be at school?" He asked.

Shizoni had fallen a sleep on the beach, not sure how it was done, but he had. He must have been so bored he just dropped to sleep in an instant. He was dead quiet, just at peace. He seemed to be having a pleasant dream, what it was was not one for anyone to know, for he had some deep secrets within that would shock most. He did not stir around, when he slept, he was a stiff rock. What ever possession he went to sleep in, he would stay like that. Yes, he was sleeping standing up, facing toward the ocean. How this was done, most would say he was faking, but no, he was really a sleep. How this was rest, was not answered. But if someone had the intention to kill him, he would sense it instantly.

The shoreline was one of her most favorite places about Kiri. By a small technicality, it was not really part of Kiri, but to Hatsuyuki, the portal to the sea marked a world vastly different from the icy lands of the Fubuki. If she was to say she was completely happy that the estate today had been fully restored to its eternally wintry state, that would be to lie. It had almost been a melancholy experience to slowly grow reaccustomed to lands of barren white...lands that were no longer dotted with strange wildflowers and creeping life. This was why she still loved to slip away from her handmaidens, Shotou and Yokan, to visit the beaches alone. Her recreational time grew increasingly sparse as she was no longer a Student of the Village, but whenever she did receive a break to visit the ocean, it made her quite happy even though her eternally cold body could not distinguish what other villagers whisper as the comforting warmth of the afternoon sand.

As she walked, she thought back to the assignment she had received today. The Mizukage had requested for her to take up the reins of the Academy: not a surprising request, as the rank of an Academy Instructor was usually an assignment given to select Chuunin. While the assignment suited her fine, it disappointed her as well. Instruction over the Academy meant she would less likely be home at the estate and on the rare occasions her brother nowadays decide to show up at home, she will probably not see him...

Speaking of Ko-aniue, today would mark the third month since he had gone for his long mission.

Her eyes lowered, distress flitting into the light of dark blue-gray eyes, transforming them into a more stormy color. Her pace gradually quickened, even as her mind tried its best to discard the thought...

What would be his purpose...for lying to her for so long...?

In time as she walked, she passed by a young girl and a boy. They were a good distance down from the path she took, by the edge of the sea, though it was a short distance. While polite by nature, Hatsuyuki would have usually stopped to greet fellow villagers of Kiri. But so absent-mindedly lost in thought now, she did not notice even as she gradually passed them.

As she contemplated, Tebiki was almost caught off-guard by the sound of footsteps in the sand. Lucky for her, her ears were better than her eyes. Is that kid back to pester me? Damn it, I should have walked further away! She could feel her muscles tense up. She kne wthat someone like him wouldn't even try to apologize, so he must have only returned to fight more. Only a few seconds after she heard the voice did she realize that it wasn't really him... Oh... huh... "Shouldn't you mind your own business?" She spat her retort at him with a little more venom than she intended. She was still a little bitter, and the recent tensing didn't help in the slightest. What was strange to her, though, was while closer footsteps seemed to stop, and attempt to talk to her, other foot steps contnued. What was going on, and who was out there? Scooping up one last shell, she stood and chucked it as far away as possible, partially hoping that it would relieve some of the new ache she had build up from her surprise. The small object made a pleasant splash, and she turned to face the boy that dared to question her presence on the beach.

"Hey, there's no reason to be so hostile. It's just odd for a non-Shinobi to be here at this time. Then again I wouldn't know much about normal civilian life." Shinzu said with a dismissive shrug. He watched the shell as it splashed into the ocean. "Not a bad throw by the way." He added a few moments later. what an odd girl, sitting on a sandy beach throwing shells into the water. Not to mention she had a slightly snotty attitude. About that time another girl passed by them, looking rather odd. "Um hey are you okay?" He called out to her, you never know she may have been suffering from somekind of heat issue. He cast a questioning glace to the girl in the sand, as if to ask if she knew the other girl.

Biting her lip, she looked away for a moment before replying back, this time calmer. "Sorry... I haven't had the best of days..." And, yeah, she shouldn't have taken it out on him. "Odd for a nin-shinobi?" Wait... did that mean, "you're a shinobi?" That meant, by the youth in his voice, that he was around the genin stage... maybe? When he commented on her throw, she looked over her shoulder at the vast blue. "Oh.. uh, thanks..." Apparently she could throw things better when the target wasn't human. Good to know. Standing there, a little puzzled about what to do now, she almost opened her mouth to answer his question... the one about being okay, except he seemed to be callign elsewhere by the direction his voice was cast. That's when she remembered the other, further set of footsteps she had heard before. "Eh?" She didn't even see his gaze.

She stopped short in her step. That far-off gaze focused as someone called out to her, and she slowly lowered her eyes, before her gaze fell aside and glassy gray-blue eyes settled steadily on the boy. He was there with a girl about his age... But Hatsuyuki had never seen either of them before, and judging by this boy's chakra levels, he was definitely not a Student. Probably a Genin of the later years...or even an early Chuunin. But the girl's barely noticeable levels of chakra indicated that she was probably an attendee of the Academy. Should she go and greet the girl? The mere possibility that girl may now be a student of hers... She looked away.

Aristocrats do not bow to the people of the village, and she gave no other indication of noticing the pair except how her pretty red lips curved solemnly as she considered her next choice of action. But she decided fairly quickly, and turning on her heel, she made her way towards them. There was a gently sloping elevation from the higher dune, but with grace she made her way down, the heels of her sandals barely scattered the grains of fine sand. A short moment later, long locks of raven hair once again settled from the short jump, flowing easily to her waist.

Now that she was closer out to the edge of the sun, the light almost made her pale alabaster skin glow. An aura of cold surrounded her body, as it did all of the Fubuki Ichizoku, and this was made all the more pronounced by the sea breeze that seemed to have chilled even further. To the pair, she was perhaps dressed strangely, as even though it was her usual shinobi garb that she wore today, the fine embroidery at the edges indicated her social stature. She observed the girl for several long moments, unblinking. Her head then tilted lightly aside.

She spoke, a quietly delicate voice:

"Myaku Ichizoku...? How rare..."

The last Myaku to attend the Academy was...two? Three? Years ago, she had heard from her clan-mates. She did not have the honor to attend the Academy alongside the last Myaku, having left instead almost a semester earlier.

The faint smile that now touched her lips was as lovely as the coldest winter snow. But even though it was not much of a smile, the light in her eyes complemented the gesture, making her smile appear far more pronounced that it actually was.

"What an honor...to meet another "child of the Sage"."

Suddenly he awoke, to sense there were people nearby, it wasn't really a matter of sensing their chakra, he could just feel a gathering of people nearby, it was enough to wake him up, and he began to look around for those people.
He walked down the shoreline a little, and then stopped a little gathering of young people. They seemed to be pretty relaxed, by the looks of it, two were students, and two were experienced shinobi for their age. He decided to keep his distance for now, and watch.
