Matasoga strolled out into the crisp night air, enjoying his day off. He saw Ren and approached. "Evening," he said, as was his wont, in almost entire disregard of how late it was.

Ren looked up as the Guild Master approached and blushed a deep red. "Evening it is." She responded her voice only slightly quiet. She ran a hand through her new haircut and softly called to the small bunny, tempting it with the treat of a small carrot.

His draconic eyes picked up her color in the starlight. He imagined that she was remembering their last encounter. Silently he drew nearer and crouched next to her, watching the bunny as well as the girl, waiting to see what she would say and do next.

"Oh yeah, I guess I forgot to tell you. i wasn't sure if Saber had already toId you I found this little guy on my way here. He had no parent to take care of him so I took him in. He's a sweet little guy, but I don't have a name for him yet." She shrugged as she picked the fuzz ball up. All the bunny did was blink and look up at the crouched figure.

Matasoga pet the bunny's head with a single finger, with his eyes on Ren's. He supposed that she had nothing to say about what happened last time, which was fine. He didn't feel that the issue need be pressed, either.

Seeing his eyes on her she shifted, eyes lowering again. When they fastened on the book she blinked and quickly picked it up, holding it out to him. "Oh, I forgot! this was the reason I came to see you. My godmother gave this to me. Well..I guess more an auntie than godmother." She chewed her lip, thinking about the woman and her uncle's relationship.

"Oh?" he asked. Pushing aside questions of religion that the term implied, he said, "Congratulations. Whose child?"

"Child?" She looked at him with confusion. "What do you mean?"

Matasoga realized that he had misheard and it soon clicked into place in his mind what she had actually said. He briefly closed his eyes shook his head and explained that he had misheard. "What's the subject of the book?" he asked.

Ren shrugged as he explained himself, it was no big deal. Looking at the book she bit her lower lip, trying to remember what her godmother had said. "It's a book on magic. She was a mutt to the extreme. She could change into quite a few different animals, and all were of her blood, like my wolf for me. I think she said this was for those who couldn't change like us. That and abunch of other stuff. A beginner's book I think she said."

"I see," he said nodding. "So you are a wizard? A noble pursuit. You're welcome to use my resources while furthering your spell collection."

She gave him a small smile. "Da's a warrior, no magic for him. Uncle's a scientist, so neither can really teach. Mum's a natural with her necromancy, we all think it's not really a learned thing with her, so she couldn't really help me either. My brother's like her, he's actually training under her to control it like she does." For a small second she gave a sad smile. "Least he isn't going to fear hatred like she did.." She shook her head and looked up at him, smiling abit too brightly. "Oops, scuse my mumbles, Mum always said that theres no use weeping over spilled milk."
"Thank you for your offer, you and Godmother both are reliable for help."

Matasoga pet her head compassionately. He knew well the irrational fear and hatred that being different, particularly if you were capable of wielding arcane powers, could incite from lesser minds. "I'm heading out for a bit," he said. He kissed her forehead and stood, and said "Have a nice night."

She said nothing as he left, shaking her head. She'd felt what to her felt like pity when he'd patted her head. It wasn't the stupidity of lesser people, it was something else far different.
Thinking of a place that would never hear the laughter of children again, she left, the tiny bunny sleeping in her arms.
