After he had spoken, Detroit looked up in the air and saw Nathan flying away. "What the - what's going on... what is - why is he leaving?"

"Come on" Anne said to Detroit, ignoring his question.
Mark kneeled down and slid his arms around the man's chest and Anne grabbed the man's legs. Together they lifted him up into the jeep and carefully secured him there.
Mark headed to the driver's seat and called to Detroit "you coming or what?"

Detroit shook himself out of his stupor. "Huh? Oh, yeah... just a second."
He stared after Nathan for a moment before bidding him a silent goodbye and getting in the jeep.

Anne hopped into the back of the jeep as Mark got it started. They drove away from the old farmhouse that had provided a decent shelter for the night. Anne kept her hand on a silencer at her hip as she silently asked God for protection.

The man began to stir as the jeep rattled him, able to grit his teeth against the pain as he began to regain consiousness. The still unnamed woman smiled, then hugged him as he began to look around wildly.

"Oh, good..." Detroit murmured to himself. "He's okay... well, awake anyways."
Turning to the woman, he asked "I don't mean to pry, but... what happened to you guys? What's going on? Oh... and what are your names?"

The woman spoke up as he began to calm down. "My name is Alice, and his is Mystic. We were attacked while out walking... They were some kind of beasts, but I don't know exactly what they were." Her gaze was now cast down and to the left away from the people in the jeep.

Anne felt a slight pain in her gut. If only they had taken care of the beasts and not let them escape. With all the firepower and hands they had... why had they not provided a stronger attack? she wondered to herself but eventually she let it go and considered herself blessed to not be bruised or cut.
