My name is jessie, I just graduated from High School and I start college in August. I'm going to be going to major in fine arts, and minor in philosophy. (the two are complementry subjects if you ask me)
I'm sorta a hippy when it comes to my favorite philosophys and ideas.
I've very fond Of Ralf Waldo Emerson and his essay "Self Reliance".
I think beauty of philosophy is that each and every person interprets it slightly differant.

Hello everyone.
My name is Cat. I am a writer and an artist. I'm in college for such fields, and philosophy (as in, my love for knowledge and thought) has really been my inspiration to pursue those practices. I love music of all kinds. Music is freedom, that's for sure. I guess you could call me a bit of an environmental and animal activist, AKA tree-hugging hippie. xd I am also a bit of a socialist. oh, and I love sci-fi and fantasy and great stories.

That's about all I can think of...
This forum needs some life in it! Let's start up some discussions, people!

Love and Peace smile

Hi, I'm Feore.
I'm 16, but pretty opinionated, and have a good sense of things. I am capable of comprehending certain things, and with a strong sense of empathy, they combine well for a natural sense of pshychology (Although I'm not really interested in the subject sweatdrop )

I am Kaleb, a sixteen year-old and an independent student of philosophy. I've been interested in it for about two years, though only recently have I begun my studies. Currently, I'm studying the ancient texts which concern Pythagoras; anyone who's familiar with the chronology of philosophy knows that isn't especially advanced.

Any way, I would say I'm rather competent in philosophic discussion despite my being as a novice. (At least, more competent than those ocassional people who call themselves philosophers on the grounds that they've taken a few college courses on modern philosophy neutral ). I'm particularly skilled in reducing arguments to debates about the "first principles," seeing as though most people tend to assume the truth of their hunches and mere opinions. I believe Bertrand Russell commented about that tendency in the "Introduction to Analytical Philosophy" section near the end of his The History of Western Philosophy. I'll edit this post and quote that later.

I've joined this guild in hopes of weaning my habit of wasting time on Gaia, thereby weaving together the time I spend studying and the time I spend otherwise distracted. I plan on majoring in philosophy, in fact.

im bryan, 20, i really like philosophy when it was introduced to me during my 1st yr. of college, and after i read that good book entitled Sophie's World by Jostein Garder.

philosophy really gave me an explanation in the why's and hows of life (well, most that is) it taught me to understand other people and to understand myself.

i also like music especially j-pop/rock which my parents and most of my classmates discriminate. i also have a thing for music accompanied by pianos or violins with electric guitars heart (sorry i dont know the name of that genre).

well thanks for accepting me here whee

Hi, I'm Rachel. I'm a junior in highschool.

I'm never really discussed philsophy before but this looked interesting.

It looks like right now the guild is a bit slow. I hope people start posting! >.<

hi my name is Dylan, i am 23 and i am mostly self educated. i have a library of over 800 books and have only read perhaps half, so i have a long way ot go. i am interested in a wide variety of ways of seeing the world, i believe that the spirit, god, numen, brahmen, atman, or what ever it is called is a matter and source of being that permeates all things. it is not easy to understand and understanding is truly a matter of a balance between the seeking and releasing of thought.
here are some sources for books that i think many people would enjoy:

Good day. My name is Raven. I am nearly twenty years old and have, my entire life, been quite different than others of my own age. I am a member of Mensa International. My philisophical focus is the the "overman" and "elitist utopia" theories of Friedrich Nietzsche. I do indeed believe in the "ubermensch" and "untermensch" of society and, as you may have guessed, am a Nihilist. I am a Laveyist, and believe more in the philsophy of Anton Lavey than the "religion" and "faith" of other so-called "religious" leaders.

I study all forms of philosophy but Nihilism is my focus. I am greatly against soliphism, and I believe soliphism to be one of the downfalls of society.

Greetings. My name is Drew. I am 18 years old, graduated high school last spring and going to college in the fall...majoring in psychology. I consider myself a bit of a cynic, an embittered idealist. I've read a bit of "The Republic", Tao Te Ching, and many essays by Emerson. I've read "The Satanic Bible", "The Art of War", and various books on religion straight through.

Hello and greetings from Virginia, land of delicious Ham.

My name is Katelyn but you can call me whatever you like, so long as it's not too offensive. : D

I'm a Sophomore in high school this year.
I may be a bit young compared to some of the members, but I hope to contribute just as much.

Well, I'll see you around the guild.

I don't really think it matters, since most of the people use the top three forums, but I might as well.

I am I_27_04.

I enjoy pretty much any philosophicle topics, except for things like, Is this real or not, Or do we exist. I find it to be a waste of time, since intead you could just chose one then type the upsides/downsides.

I don't have many things I know about, so my mind has been focused on a few subjects, so I hope I can expand my mind here.

Thanks for letting me in guys!
